Went in on the off chance there was space for 2 and given a table. Our drinks order was taken then it was another 15 mins wait to give our food order - 2 mains & 3 sides. While waiting, there was a constant stream of people waiting for and picking up carry out meals. Our food arrived nearly an hour after our order was taken and, although it was tasty, the wait was too long. The service wasn't very good and it seemed the kitchen and waiting staff were overstretched. Stupidly, we didn't check the bill because we just wanted out, with the result I think we either paid the wrong bill or were overcharged as it was just short of £60. Lesson learned and we will not go back.

This restaurant is absolutely an amazing place. my brother had a spiced lamb biryani and he has said it is the best one he has had. The lamb was melt in your mouth tender. I had a spiced korma and it was fantastic, probably the best one I’ve had in years. my dad is from Birmingham and he reckons that this was the best curry he has ever had too, we will be visiting again with more family. Thank you very much.

Takeaway! Expensive. Quality of the chicken in my Tandoori was poor - gristly in places. Once ordered later told of the large meal I had ordered, enough for two - this was a mistake but order had gone in. I didn't want that size of meal for one. Not much of a selection for the Tandoori albeit copious quantity that was finished the next day - still enough for two! Was not enamoured by mint flavouring over it all. The waiter 'misunderstood' our question regarding size of rice portion and so we ordered more. In fact it was included in my platter so didn't need it. Tikka Masala was okay with generous portion and naan fine. Beer good whilst waiting BUT charged significantly more than stated on menu as prices had increased and not informed of this until payment time. No discount given for takeaway and so reluctant to take card that cash was sought. Sadly, will not be going back as local. No one else in restaurant or takeaway waiting are. two customers arrived as left - not a good sign. Seemed out to extract as much money as possible and little regard for potential of regular returning customer. Just under £70!

It was a real pleasure to eat at Nazma's a few evenings ago.. Especially after all the difficult times everyone has been going through. We were with friends and we all enjoyed our meals so much. Along with our waiter, Nayomi's courteous manner, visiting Nazma was a good experience. All the food was well prepared and delicious. The chef must be congratulated for preparing such delicious food. Highly recommended.

We tried the Nazma for takeaway instead of cooking one night. The range looked good but when I spotted the meal for two deal was over £60, I almost left as in comparison, another local takeaway charges only £30 for this. However, I decided to persevere with single dishes. We ordered two mains and two sides and it came to just about £40. We cannot fault the food but it was quite pricey and we didn't even get free popadoms.

I purchased a take-away meal for three people last evening. We had three different main courses plus rice, poppadums and naan bread. The food was ready for collection when I arrived and was still hot when I took it to my daughter’s house. My meal of Jalfrezi was insipid with very thin and weak gravy. I could actually taste, in a part of the container, where they had added some curry powder to attempt to make it taste as it should. But it failed.. My daughter and granddaughter said that their meals were okay but as I was paying they may have just been polite.

Our first time in Nazma for a while. Probably because of the restrictions still in place we were the only customers dining in (there were several 'take-away' orders collected while we were there). A couple of drinks before the meal, a main course and a bottle of wine (not expensive for a restaurant wine), the bill was less than expected. The fairly extensive menu made choosing what to eat a little difficult, but delighted with what we had. Will definitely be back - sooner than later.

Yesterday we ate here as a party of 4 for my son’s birthday and I am now giving Nazma Ellon an Excellent recommendation. Everyone in my party commented how good the quality of the food and service was. My lamb chop starter had plenty of meat on the chops and the taste was superb. Although there were people coming and going for takeaways, we were the only two people eating in the restaurant. The lights went out but we were only in the dark for a few seconds. We were told it was due to the extra heating they had taken in. Despite extra heating, we were cold and I never too off my scarf the entire time we were in. I've lived in Ellon for 2 years and this is the first time I'd visited Nazma - I went on a Tuesday night with my husband and dad. We didn't book a table as assumed it would be quiet being mid-week which it was. We were greeted warmly and sat straight away and our drinks orders taken and menus given. There's lots and lots of choice and I decided to go for the chicken tikka masalam and pilau rice. My husband and dad also went for curry and rice and we shared 2 naan and a side of the bombay aloo. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food - the only bad thing I can think of was that the cheese naan wasn't very cheesy and was more doughy tasting than anything - that's the only bad point though! The service was quick and friendly throughout and I could not fault it.For the 3 of us the bill came to £80 for poppadoms and accompaniements, 3 mains, 3 rices, 2 naan, a side and 3 drinks and I thought this was good.We would definitey return and I would highly recommend.

Very good food, atmosphere is good too, but food prices are ridiculously high for a curry. We go as a treat and order 3 curries, naan, rice, & chicken tikka starter for baby girl, water for the table & bill is £56. Food is always tasty, but whatever you do don't ask for recommendations. When you do, the recommendation tends to be something basic that costs double what you'd ex to pay. Absolutely dead on a Thursday evening. Lots of upselling of extras and starter combos despite already high prices. Food very, very expensive for an Indian restaurant - £170 for 4 people? We didn't have desserts and shared rice, no nan breads and 2 members of the party didn't drink alcohol. The bill itself was impossible to decipher and were charged two different prices for the same bottle of wine? To top it all the food wasn't that great, my 'half' chicken (more like a leg/thigh and part of a side - no breast) was extremely dry. Everyone else seemed to like their food ok though. Don't think i'd return.

The restaurant is very clean and well laid out and always has diners. The staff are very attentive and polite. The food order was on time and hot. The taste is good but couldn't help thinking it is reduced in heat (spice) for the local pallet. Their Chapatis are excellent. Best I tasted in a long time. We had Bhoona which is my yardstick for measurement. It was good but not outstanding. However like everything it is sometimes the chefs taste for the locals. Had a takeaway from Nazma following recommendations from my well informed neighbours and have to admit I am glad I listened. I don't normally like spending money so tend to stick to lower end takeaways in Ellon but after visiting Nazma, I have been converted. Love their food and will be back again.

Went with a friend on this occasion. We both had poppadoms, starters and main courses and a bottle of wine. Under £60 not bad at all. The lighting was pleasantly subdued, the service was good. The food was really tasty and there was a good interval between starter and main course, which I liked, as I hate eating one course straight after another. I would definitely go again.

Should be a 5star for food and wine and their wonderfully social manager. However a habit of extra rices appearing on the bill may catch them out one day. Be aware that some dishes come with rice so check if in any doubt. Whilst their only Indian competitor Nosheen continues its sad decline from the Dizzy heights of Top of Aberdeenshire, Nazma flourishes with a local population who demand quality but at a fair price.

Before I start, don't order the coffee. I literally saw the manager pour left over coffee from a coffee jug from a table that had just left back into the coffee warmer! That breaks all food hygiene rules altogether. Absolutely manky.I have eaten in and had takeout from Nazma, to eat in for two of us it was £75. For a take-out for one, with 1 main, side of Aloo Gobi and Garlic Nann - it cost £25.The place looks nice, staff are polite. Although they are all desperate for you to get the mixed starter. They must be on commission per mixed starter they sell. The food is nice, but I'm not sure its worth the money. You get far more meat in your meal from Nosheen, round the corner.

Bright, modern with minimalist décor this branch of the chain features a totally different menu from the Peterhead site. The specials from the North West Frontier section of the menu has you drooling as you read. All the usual favourites are present along with a selection of chef’s specials we had to ask about. You’ll spend a good bit of time trying to make your mind up. We finally settled on the Hindukushi Lamb Tika and the Redforth Chicken delicacy, simply amazing. Watching the other dishes passing by as we were waiting for ours to arrive, we looked on with envy, but when we got ours the experience went in to overdrive. The staff are friendly and very efficient, the service exemplary and the quality fantastic. This is the second time we have been here and we will definitely return.

Me and my husband decided to try this restaurant last weekend since our usual favourite in Fraserburgh was closed and we were not disappointed. We went on Saturday evening around 6 PM and did not make a booking but we got the table for two no problem at all. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening (when we arrived only 3 other tables were occupied). But as it approached 7 PM the place was getting busier and busier as more diners were coming. The place itself is very clean and minimalistic in décor but I do like that kind of style and those table cloths were whiter than white. The service was amazing all the way through. Our drink orders were taken immediately and we didn’t wait long between courses. The waiters were very efficient and always smiling ensuring we are happy with our drinks and meal (they asked several times). Cobra beer my husband ordered was bottled and ice cold and my white wine was very generously served and chilled to perfection. I will agree with some comments that seafood dishes are a bit on the expensive side (£21 for Monk fish curry, king prawns also quite expensive). But the rest of the menu is very reasonably priced and we were ok to pay a bit extra for good quality food and superb service. My tip would be: if you want two course meal you can easily go for one starter for two people. We decided to share the chicken pakora between the two of us and it was served beautifully and was enough for a light starter. The starter was presented beautifully with a little of chefs twist to it, just a picture on the plate and tasted fresh and crispy outside and tender inside so just perfect (although sauce it was served with was not necessary and added little to the flavour). The main didn’t take long to arrive and chicken Jalfrezy and Bhuna were also cooked to perfection. Rice and Naan were lovely as well. The waiter went out of his way serving the food to us and making sure we had glasses refilled in time. We paid £55 for one shared starter, two chicken mains, couple glasses of wine and one beer plus one rice and naan and couple of poppadoms, which I think is very reasonable and something we would expect to pay in a good establishment. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and we would go back. The only criticism I have is the Take Away service being right at the entrance of the restaurant with people coming and going all the time which makes the place a bit hectic especially when it gets busier in the evening (plus I didn’t like other people watching me eat when they were waiting for their take away). I think it would make the atmosphere so much better if the two were separated (like many other Indian restaurants do). Other than that, brilliant place and we will definitely come back.

Inside is lovely and the table is set out to perfection. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and attentive however the prices are extortionate and this overall spoils the experience as to come back you would have to wait a fair while before you could afford it again. The food was very nice and everything cooked well but as previously stated the bill at the end is mind boggling. 3 people over £98 and one of them having a bill alone of £42 he did have king prawn but I think to charge £21 just for a king prawn curry alone is shocking especially when we have visited another Nazma restaurant doing the same dish for £15 (not including rice). Nice experience but will be a while before we will be back due to prices.

Maybe great food and good service has a price? But surely not this much. That said, my friend picked up the tab for the dinner he and I had here. All he said was " .... the most expensive Indian meal ever ..."The restaurant doesn't look like much from outside. Inside however is clean, crisp decor, well presented tables with nice white linen. The waiter who attended to us was very helpful, and had a good sense of humour. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. One of the nicest Indian meals I've eaten in the UK it has to be said.So if money is no object, and you appreciate great food in nice surroundings, then give it a try.

Two curries, two nan breads and one rice, nothing else = £33+. Ridiculous. The food couldn't be faulted but this restaurant needs to rethink its pricing.

Can't fault the food or service at all but very expensive. Worth considering travelling into Aberdeen instead where you will get a meal around £5 cheaper per main course and just as good. £15 for a main course in Ellon is a bit over board.

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while. Had another excellent takeaway tonight from the bengal tiger. After a recent takeover it’s back with a bang. An excellent chicken tikka jalfrezi with lovely onion rice My missus also had vegetable korma. plenty fresh veg and sauce and she raves about it. Previous owners were diabolical with veggie dishes. Perfect takeaway right on our doorstep won’t hesitate now to invite friends round for a takeaway.

Whilst on business,Went into get a curry, noticed place had changed and looked rather dingy and was told he was changing to a restaurant. Anyways had a bad time with my hotel so my mood wasn't the best. Waited 20 mins for my bhuna and I had asked for a receipt so I could claim it back. I picked up my curry and went back to hotel only to realise there was no receipt. After eating 1 fork full of I can only describe as the strangest chicken bhuna I have ever tasted, I went back to get my receipt. I was then met with a screwed up face that he didn't do receipts. A few verbals were exchanged and I left fuming with having received a crap meal, no receipt and £15 out of pocket. HMRC I hope your watching....disgusting place
