Was staying at Holiday Inn nearby and despite the poor reviews went with a colleague. Decor in restaurant and service were fine as was my aloo tikka starter. I ordered a Handicap dish which I have had many times in different restaurants in the UK and Ireland. This was, by far, the worst ever. It was dry, no sauce, with a little oil. There was no taste from the chicken whatsoever just a bit of oil. Rota bread accompaniment was fine. My colleagues meal had no taste either. If I had to personally pay for the main course I would complain. Toilets are upstairs which had a very old hideous carpet which should have been changed years ago. Toilet facilities were not great either.

Good point is plenty of parking however once inside the location looks quite tired and not much money spent recently.Seated quickly and orders taken. Food came out at same time with staff shouting the names of various starters and mains for us to raise are hands. All the food was loaded with spice, even simple things like bhajis were excessively hot. The mains were bland and I felt the chicken quality was low.Was expecting much more for Bradford

Sorry but I always try and find a positive out of a negative.I can't in this case. The key to good Indian food is freshness and taste - The restaurant offered neither. The starter of Onion Baji was more or less in edible due to the amount of chilli that had used in them. The house special Nawaab Biryuni had no taste what so ever and could not even be shaved by the pitiful sauce. It comes to something when the best part of the meal was the Naan bread. Similar complaints from others in our party. No taste just excessive heat throughout. The venue is tired and dated - so much potential to better but floored by lack of effort, supervision and skill.Sorry !

We have yet to have a poor meal in this place. It's not the greatest Indian restaurant in the world but it is a solid and reliable choice for good food at sensible prices. The Nawaabi mix starter served on a sizzling platter is superb and a meal in itself. There is a good choice of mains and favourites of ours include the chicken shashlik and Nawaabi balti. My only negative comment relates to the state of the toilets which, as others have commented upon, are diabolical!

There are two parts to this restaurant, a buffet and an al a carte. I have only tried the latter. To me the food is good. I have tried a variety of dishes and so has my partner and we have not been disappointed. The décor is bright and if you are able to sit by the window it is quite pleasant. This restaurant lets it-self down on two serious counts. First the service has a style of its own. The wine is just dumped on the table, it may even have the cap opened and somehow the food manages to arrive. The staff have very little interest in the customers and seem to spend time wondering why they are there.. It. is a shock if they talk and an even bigger shock if they smile. At the end of the meal some one might turn up and says "tea, coffee? and then they go. It is quite amusing once you are used to it. If you want pay you have to get up and go and find someone at the cash till to get the bill. The second problem is more serious. The toilet facilities are up stairs and they are dire. The route up is so shabby it is a warning. Upstairs is bluntly a dump. The toilets are so shabby I won't go unless I really have to. The kitchen is on show and that looks clean. The kitchen staff are let down by poor staff involvement and really horrible facilities.

We ordered drinks and my small bottle of wine was just put down in front of me and my husbands bottle the same. The food came and the waiter rubbed the plate with a napkin then put it down, it was cold, I hate hot food on a cold plate. He vanished. The food was very good but soon went cold as I put it on the plate. The staff were wandering about aimlessly and no one came to ask if all was OK. As we paid I said the plates were cold and he said was it just a bit I said no very cold. Enjoyed the food but not sure if I will be back.

After reading reviews on TripAdvisor we found this little place 5 minutes away from our hotel. The decor in the a la carte section of this restaurant is lovely and fresh with hints of warm touches, a perfect setting for a date or a night out with your family. The food that we experienced seems to have been taken from two different restaurants, Akbars and The Royal Nawaab Manchester. The food is catered for those without a complex pallet or for those who aren't interested in a genuinely really good curry. I'm indian and as you can imagine I'm familiar with the cuisine. All dishes were either under seasoned or boasted very simple flavours. The chicken wings are nothing but a simple tandoori marination and we're small. One chicken wing actually seemed to come from an anorexic bird. The lamb kebab was okay and a little fatty however was under seasoned and over all bland. The shami kebab was the tastiest kebab out of the three they serve however it still just doesn't hit the spot. The mains - karahi lamb with garlic naan and pilau rice. Firstly the naan was not cooked completely, it's a bit like ordering dominos pizza and finding that the centre part of the crust isn't entirely cooked and doughy. The pilau was perfect. The karahi lamb was lacking some flavour and seasoning although the meat was lovely and tender. Like I said, for an Asian who has experienced the Royal Nawaabs in Manchester, this Nawaabs just isn't the same...after all the owner of this restaurant is supposedly the owner of Nawaab Manchester's cousin as told by one of the waiters. I expected a little better from this place which uses the Nawaabs brand name and would rather drive a little further into Bradford to experience a truly ideal curry. Overall not a bad experience at all however the food does lack finesse but if your not fussy about a really tasty curry it's probably not a bad choice for you. Service was great however food was average.

Went here Wednesday night for the early bird, was hubby's birthday and curry is his favourite thing. Arrived about 6.20, ( early bird is on until 7pm every night), shown to a table straight away, hadn't pre booked but not too busy so no waiting. Waiter brought the "regular menu" over, had to ask for early bird menu (this happens every time) so watch out for this as big difference in price. There's a standard choice of starters and all the old favourite curries such as madras, rogan josh, korma, bhuna etc. A few specials also chicken/lamb achari - sorry I cannot remember the rest but there is an online menu available.Hubby chose chicken tikka chunks and I chose kashmir kebabs, minced lamb coated in egg and fried, nice soft texture, quite spicy, the chicken was nice hubby said. We both had achari curry, lamb for me and chicken for hubby, hubby asked for "madras hot" for both mine and his. The accompaniments are pilau rice, 2 chapattis or a plain naan bread, chapattis for hubby, naan for me.They serve alcohol and we both had a large cobra at £4 each. Main courses although very nice, too spicy and were more like vindaloo strength, poor hubby had tears rolling down his cheeks it was so strong. First time I've seen a curry reduce him to tears lol.Apart from the overkill on spices we had an enjoyable experience and think it's good value for money at £9.95 per person (tea or coffee also included). Will go again but not order spicy again!

I am going to have to think twice about taking my parents here again... top tips... its nice to sit near the kitchen serving area if you want to watch them cooking your meal but if you cant stand spices in the air from the cooking and flames then sit some distance away from this area as it can make you cough a little. Large cobra bottles are the best value if you like a beer.

I eat Indian food in a restaurant at least once every week so I enjoy my Indian cuisine. This was not the best food at all and the portions were small e.g 2 Samosa and 4 chicken pakoras for a starter. I went with 5 others and we sampled several main dishes all small in quantity to what i am used too. The lamb dishes were very nice but the king prawns were rubbery and took some chewing. The butter chicken, never my favourite, seemed to be chicken tika pieces dropped into a buttery sauce and it was very dry. No draft beer at all for such a large restaurant surprised me. It was quite busy though and very cheap my friend had a 20% discount card so with two Cobra's it came to £20 per head.

We visited Nawaab's with another couple on Saturday evening. It was busy so there was quite a good atmosphere. There was also a function on (a wedding I think) and unfortunately there was a lot of mess on the carpet in the entrance way which looked like confetti. However, we had to wait a little while for our dinner companions so we got a drink each - cheaper than the pub that we had been to just before. Only slight niggle with this was the wine was served in those little bottles - which turned out to be quite pleasant actually. We all ordered starters, main courses and sundries and the food was great - really tasty and enjoyable. Service was good too. We had a voucher for 25% off our food bill so the amount we actually had to pay (including a tip) was about £22 a head (this also included about 3 drinks each with our meals - these weren't discounted). This felt like really good value - mainly because we really enjoyed our food. We will be back!

We were sat with a huge stack of surplus chairs piled up next to us, the wallpaper had food stains all over it, my napkin was full of holes. Had I have visited the toilets and the upstairs of this building would never have ordered food. Upstairs is a stinking disgrace, I can't believe that the kitchens could be clean if they pay so little attention to the public areas, walkiing past the gents toilet was a strong smell of urine. The carpets upstairs and down are a disgrace, filthy dirty. Health and safety need to visit this place, we complained and they did not want to know. It is not worthy of a rating.

Was told due to the "Health and Safety" Inspector being in! Food eventually arrived. Very average. ?No offer of free drink/starter as a goodwill gesture for our wait. In no rush to return.

When this restuarant first opened it provided really good food that was tasty and full of flavour. Sadly, the grand decor and relaxed and very pleasant surroundings seem to have taken away the emphasis regarding the taste of the food. The qualty and presentation was good but the taste was like a poor takeaway type food that had been calmed down for perhaps a mild palate.I like traditional Indian or Asain food and having worked in India and Pakistan and also delighted at many a friend's home you might argue I am hard to please. However, I am paying for the food and therefore I am saying it did not live up to past visits. Sorry!

This is my first visit to Bradford and as I was staying at a nearby hotel, I chose to dine here.I was going to sit down and eat, but decided against it as I did not find the decor very appealing at all. So, I picked a tikka masala, rice and keema naan from the menu. It was served pretty quickly and was reasonably priced, but went downhill from there. The tikka masala had no sauce to speak of which is very strange for a sauce based dish. The rice was a strange brown colour and the naan pretty amateur and spongy, much like you would expect from a supermarket. Although the chicken portion was generous, it was a bit rubbery and slightly chewy which was not what I was expecting, all the more that there was no sauce. The rice was slightly dry, although edible enough, but the naan I decided to leave after a couple of bites as the lamb in it was tasteless and the bread spongy. One thing worthy of note was the poppadoms were pretty good, so at least the appetiser was, well, appetising.Unfortunately, the whole experience was pretty poor as I have about a dozen curry houses to choose from in my home town and all but one are better than Nawaab.Overall, a jaded experience of my first visit to an Indian restaurant in what I believed to be a curry nirvana of a city. I will be a frequent visitor to the city, so will continue in my quest to find the ultimate curry house upon my return.

I recently went to the nawaab in tong and wow I was amazed how good it was. Arrived and was busy, but didnt get crammed in. The place is very nicely decorated, soon as we got there got menus ordered food. Starters were so amazing, full of flavour, cooked magnificently. Mains were the same and we loved them. Will defo go back and would defiantly recommend others to go. Thanks to the lovely waiters for their service and the cooks.

The Nawaab at Tong was a first visit for us. We opted for the early bird menu 5-7pm £9.99 it consists of a starter, main, accompaniment followed by tea/coffee. The welcome was very friendly and welcoming. We were seated quickly and given the menus for both the early bird and normal menu. The waiters were very friendly brought our drinks and took our order. We had our starters absolutley delicious hot, full of taste. Our main meals were totally amazing hot, full of flavour and plenty of it. It really was a shame to finish our meals we were left wanting more evrn though we were full to bursting. We had our coffee, paid our bill and were talked to by all the staff on our exit. We will not hesitate to go back. We were amazed by how busy the place was but yet we didnt feel crammed in.

Booked for a table for 10 at the Nawaab Westgate hill Bradford for Xmas Day 2012, we were early so had to wait a while but this did not matter, we sat down after a 10 to 15min wait and placed our orders, our starters came I had Chicken Bhuna on Puri it was excellent 2 of our group had Lamb chop starters 1 was fine the other was well done to say the least then main course came I had Nawaabi Biryani which was described as Chicken , Lamb , and King Prawn the rice came and I sat waiting for the sauce to arrive which I had to ask for after 10 min's when it came it was only aired but I never bothered and was just looking forward to my meal there was plenty of chicken and lamb and rice but only one yes one King Prawn and at £10.00 a go I think they were having a giraffe, when the waiter cleared the table I told him there was only one prawn in my dish , he never came back or any one else for that matter so we will be giving the Nawaab a wide berth in future.

Having booked this restaurant for two of us to have an early evening meal, and had both a confirmation email and text, I was gobsmacked to arrive and find the place shut! Don't know if they had a problem that evening or it is now closed permanently (it looked a bit like that). As they had my phone number a call would have been appreciated. I have rated the restaurant as terrible, this is based on not stepping over the threshold rather than actually sampling its wares.

There are much better places in Bradford to get a good curry, having said that though the early bird is good value £9.95 for 2 courses. The portion sizes are adequate, the food has been adapted to suit a western pallet so if you are wanting an authentic curry this isn't the place for you. The restaurant is a bit out of the way but a good central point if you are a group of friends meeting up. It's usually quiet so you can have a good chat without having to shout over the table and the staff are pleasant.

If you are ever near Tong Bradford go to the Nawaab Indian Restaurant, there is an excellent early bird special 5.00PM 7.00PM £9.99 per person. Monday to Sunday. The food is absolutely gorgeous, get there early as it gets busy not surprising though.!The staff are really helpful, I wish they would open up this restaurant near us in Maghull in Liverpool. If you don't want the curry hot they will make it less hot, or if it is too mild they can spice it up for you, Please be advised the meals are really huge, so you don't need to order all sorts, as you will end up taking it home. The price's are really cheap for the drinks also compared to most restaurants this is where you get stung for the ale not here which surprised us. Can not wait to visit this place again next time we stay in the Gomersal park hotel ten minutes away if that. Thanks Once again Nawaab for a lovely evening and a First class meal.

Although the food was good in fact mine was excellent my friend's however was too spicy. She ordered a Lamb Rogan Josh but what came didn't taste like a Rogan Josh more like a vindaloo. It was far too hot & I tried a little of her food. It felt like steam was coming off the top of my head it was that warm.& the carpet needs a good vacuuming.

First and last visit to this place. The restaurant was a bit run down, but I could have forgiven that if the food and service were good. No such luck. Flat lemonade. Neglected toilets. Stale tasting popadoms. Tiny starters. No customer care despite the fact the place was nearly empty. Orders forgotten. Food poked by staff to establish what it was. And no atmosphere. We felt so awkward that conversation was totally stilted. We fell out of the place in relief, and stood chatting outside about what a dire experience it had been. I don't understand the good reviews this place has received. Perhaps Candid Camera is making a comeback and it was all a big joke on us.

I'd previously enjoyed a visited to Nawaab a couple of years ago with friends and we thought it would be worth another visit. How wrong we were....I ordered a mushroom pakora starter and was genuinely speechless when it was placed in front of me. Once I had recovered from the shock I took a picture which is attached. The picture shows exactly what was placed in front of me. I called one of the two waiters over and pointed out that while I understand that the dish is a starter, I would expect more than one quartered mushroom. He literally said nothing, shuffled off to the kitchen and returned several minutes later, tipping several more mushrooms onto my plate before walking away. When the mains arrived they missed out several items and also expected us to pass the dishes down the table, despite there being plenty of room for them to move about. If I was being generous I would say the food is average, the service appalling with the uncommunicative staff bordering on rude and the atmosphere non existent. There are loads of very good Indian restaurants in Bradford; this is not one of them. Avoid.

In Bradford, you're literally spoilt for choice when it comes to Indian restaurants. From spit 'n sawdust curry houses where you can stuff yourself for a fiver to restaurants with all the bells and whistles, there's something for everyone's tastes and pockets. There is a time and a place for a quick and dirty curry, and equally pretention on occasion has its virtues. But there are times that slumming it down the local curry house just won't do, but spending the earth isn't an option. Meet Nawaab - affordable quality. We generally go for a curry every time we're back in Bradford. More and more frequently, we're choosing Nawaab. The menu is reasonably priced, made even more so with the set menu option where you can choose four courses (really just a starter and a main, as they class poppadoms and rice/bread as a course) excluding seafood for just £10 per head.Starters are generally excellent. The seekh kebab, onion bhajis and fish masala all come highly recommended. But where the restaurant really comes into its own is the mains. There are hundreds of place in Bradford to get a decent keema, but this is the only reasonably upmarket place that does it as well as the cheap but delicious outlets. This is the best of both worlds - fantastic curry in surroundings that you'd be happy to take your parents.Drinks are reasonably priced. Bottle of wine about £10, small Cobra £2.50, large Cobra £4. They don't accept American Express. All other major credit and debit cards are accepted.A few caveats to an otherwise glowing review. Staff can be slightly on the miserable side - not overly, but noticeably less friendly than, say, Saffron Desi. Plates - though not food - sometimes come out cold. It's often quiet -to the point where I sometimes worry for its longevity - which can detract from the atmosphere. And if you go for the £10 deal, make sure you're not overcharged in error (only happened to us once and corrected immediately).Overall though, fantastic, reasonably priced food in nice surroundings and a central location. Well worth a trip.

Ordered a cake asking specifically for fresh cream cake not the new cheaper cream used, the girls at the counter said don’t worry it would be fresh sweet cream. Family collected the cake and it was not fresh cream at all. The cream used is obviously longer lasting which can be decorated quickly but if customers are asking for fresh cream why can’t they be made?
