Nice coffee, but typically slow NT service procedures and low staff numbers. They need to sort this as the place is huge and the venue super popular and yet one poor lad making drinks and one till.

We've been here before many times, but today there was something a little amiss - it lacked the slick efficiency we've experienced before, there were several people trying to do the same job instead of just one or two focusing on one aspect and leaving others to attend to other things. As such it was a case of 'more haste, less speed'. That aside, the food was up to it's usual excellence, so top marks there, but a little more attention to staff and their individual job functions might be an idea?? Perhaps they were short-staffed?? That said, we are not put off, we will be back!!

Unfortunately both mine and my husband's lunch was not edible. Although I was very hungry I just couldn't eat it. Potatoes must have been reheated for hours and had to taste or texture. The jacked potato was watery, the bean chilly was overcooked and had no taste at all and the wedges not possible to chew. The meat in the sausage roll was very poor quality and caused tummy issues. Such a big disappointment after a fabulous visit at Stourhead. Unfortunately I do not recommend this restaurant, such a shame.

Large bright and airy restaurant which is a great place to have a coffee or lunch. NT food has the typical menu with a small but varied menu and, of course, cakes. Prices are reasonable for food although cakes are at the top end of pricing. Service is quick. Only minor point is some of the wedges and potato skins had been heated for too long. The coleslaw and pulled pork burger was very good.

The cafe is a regular pitstop for us when we’re cycling. The coffee has a nice flavour to it (we get flat whites). There’s a good selection of cakes and savouries. The cheese scones are nice and filling! Shame the cafe doesn’t do a loyalty card like some other coffee shops do. I’ve always found the staff efficient. Some of the plants on sale are unusual and if I wasn’t on a bike when visiting I’d have bought a few by now!

Ok, on the good side: - the cakes are wonderful and the coffee not bad. - Atmosphere - OK but a bit too canteen like. - Staff trying their best but were very short-handed. And the not so good? Well on a previous visit I very much enjoyed their Cornish pasty (without salad) for a brunch/elevenses. But this time they refused putting a pasty in the microwave for me on the grounds that it was now deemed to be a lunch item and it wasn't yet lunch hour. Only filled baps available before midday. So I had to settle for a breakfast bap; which was terrible. Bap tasteless and dry (not buttered). The bacon had obviously been cooked and kept hot so was hard and dry - not succulent like freshly-cooked bacon. The fried egg yolk was hard. So a very disappointing visit. It used to be that the National Trust served very good quality local food. No evidence of that on my visit.

There are always long queues no matter how quiet it is. People at the tills serving often just stand there waiting for customers as everyone is waiting to order at the hot food bit before. Then normally after a while people get annoyed and try and bypass the hot food counter if they only want coffee. This then creates anger from hot food customers waiting with their going cold food to pay as there is now a new queue of Impatient coffee drinkers.

We visited on Tuesday for lunch. A fairly cold, damp day. A lovely selection of food although service was quite slow. They only had part of the restaurant open with limited seats with no spare tables but this was only seen once we had purchased our meals. Knowing that there was a much larger area with tables etc that was closed off I asked if we could use that area as there was no where to sit... I was told we were have to take our meals outside or share a table. It was raining a light drizzle.. There was no where under cover outside so it would have meant sitting in the cold with both ourselves and our meals getting wet and when I pointed out that there were no spare seats at any of the tables inside but plenty of empty tables in the second part of the restaurant I was told yes but we are not using that area we have a meeting booked in there later on leaving us standing there holding trays of hot food feeling useless. I saw elderly visitors huddled up outside trying to enjoy a cream tea and faling miserably. No where near good enough management in the restaurant on that day. My first negative review of anywhere and I wish I hadn't had to post it.

I always loved staying in the Premier Plus Rooms here. I have however had to leave twice now in the middle of the night. As I have had to leave PI Gloucester, PI Reading and Travelodge Leigh Delamere. They have installed 5G WiFi or 5G has been installed outside of the hotel. For me, I believe I have some sort of electro hypersensitivity and 5G makes it impossible for me to be able to relax, stop compulsively thinking or to be able to sleep. I feel an impending sense of doom and I literally feel utterly exhausted deep down into my bones. Perhaps the thousands of scientists and health professionals all over the world who warned and tried to protest against the rollout of this technology knew something we didn't. Does anyone remember how it was rolled out as "urgent and essential" when we were all locked in our homes? The 5G speed here is something like 300 Mbps. Fun fact, they also use the millimetre wave (5G wave) to drill down miles into the earth as - at a strong enough frequency - it literally vaporises rock.
