Lovely pub on regents canal. The Sunday roasts are really nice. Had the roast pork and really enjoyed it. My partner had the beef and said it was delicious

We went for dinner and the Thursday night pub quiz. The vibe was great and the pub quiz was really fun! Good cocktails as well. Can really recommend going for the pub quiz, great night out.

Great location, gr was t view over the canal, smaller setting, staff were really friendly with good service, good variation on beverages and food was tasty.

Lovely afternoon but it a little boisterous as the night came on.

Waited half an hour for food lunch time on Saturday. The rugby game blasting on tvs it was impossible to have a conversation… food arrived cold. Flavours plain. Not impressed

Would like to say big thank you for an amazing experience we had today at Narrowboat Pub. The food we had - bangers and mash, chicken pie and Caesar salad was delicious, staff super friendly and the view of the canal was cherry on top.

I've been coming to this pub for years. Its main selling point is its canalside location. On my most recent visit, I found the food to be poor quality and not good value for money. My advice - drink here then eat elsewhere.

Shambles. Waited 90 minutes just to get the food. Tried to go twice when their site says they're open, but they're closed.

Enjoyable first visit for lunch. Charming, friendly, attentive waitress who managed to serve quickly with a word or two despite being solo and it being busy.

Beautiful location and friendly staff, however, I ordered a chicken ceasar salad which was just plain awful. Asides from there being hardly any ceasar sauce, the chicken itself was greyish in colour, gristly and chewy, and was 50% soggy chicken skin. Not sure what happened with that but it’s not what a ceasar salad is supposed to be

Well worth a visit. Out on a day in London. Colleague had mapped out the route and venues. The Young's was excellent, we decided to have lunch and then we could have another Young's. Food was very good value and the staff, two young ladies, were brilliant. This venue was exemplary in a world of mediocrity. This place is what an Englishman treasures most, a local, where no-one is a stranger and all are equal guests deserving the best of hospitality.

Visited The Narrowboat in Islington in Feb'25, for the Sunday Roast. Food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The venue itself is very nice and the location on the canal is fabulous! It was quite busy... so I would advise to book (but they do accept walk-ins) Would definitely recommend and we will be visiting again.

Only seemed about 2 people actually serving, had been trying to place our order for a while and when a manager walked past we tried to get their attention and they told us to order at the bar and walked off (the bar had no one behind it). Worst of all though was seeing mice running around the kitchen multiple times and when we reported it to staff they didn’t seem surprised and told us “that’s the way it is being near a canal”???

The Narrowboat Pub has a lovely setting, and the staff were very friendly and personable. However, despite it being 19:30 on a Saturday night, multiple items were unavailable on the menu after we ordered them (we weren't told upfront). They didn't have any burgers. They didn't have certain salads. So we all ended up ordering fish & chips, which to be fair was very nice. The major bugbear was the inattentive service. I had to keep getting up and walking over to ask them to serve us, or to order another drink. I probably did it 3-4 times. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and were clearly sitting there in the corner. When I asked for the bill at the end, they politely brought it, but then we just sat there for another 20 minutes until again I had to get up and walk over to ask for them to bring the card machine to please pay it. We went with friends from Germany and it was overall a letdown and poor for the price tag. That's a real shame as it has a lot of potential and the individuals working there were all very nice.

Pretty standard Young’s pub overall. However, the location and building is very nice. Hidden away by the canal. The upstairs can be busy, but there is a good amount of seating downstairs. The food is pretty standard for what you would expect. In general, decent and reliable. The service here was great. Super helpful and friendly. This added to the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the place. Would definitely not have any reservations about coming back.

I had birthday drinks here last Saturday and it was fantastic! We had the whole downstairs area, which was perfect for us. The staff were all friendly, helpful and professional, but especially Kami. She was so lovely throughout the reservation process and incredibly helpful on the evening itself. Multiple people commented to me on how excellent she specifically was. The food was delicious and well laid out and everything went really smoothly. I had a fabulous time and will definitely book here again in the future! Thank you Narrowboat team!

cleanliness, delicious food and a large selection of cocktails

We were 8 guests for Christmas lunch and the whole party loved the food and ambiance. The waiting staff were attentive and on the ball. I had liaised with Kami in the run up to make sure the menus were correct and she was brilliant and clear in her communication, and she worked very hard on the day to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you all for making great memories.

Came here for Christmas dinner with my family that was visiting. The service was absolutely amazing and we could not speak enough about the food! The food was lush and we will definitely be back every year from now on. 10 stars!!!

Great venue, good service, very very shoddy food

Food was a bit disappointing. A shed potatoes were not smooth, really odd texture, and the chocolate brownie was very soft and rather tasteless. Atmosphere is great and service is perfect. But I will go back only for drinks.

Lovely location on the canal. We went in a Sunday evening and was quite close to closing. I assume there is usually more of an atmosphere.

Myself and a few friends recently hosted a charity pub crawl with 60+ people and the hospitality and welcome from the Narrowboat was second to none. A beautiful pub that is located on the canal and serves up great food, drinks and exceptional atmosphere! Thanks again for supporting our fundraising efforts! Will definitely be back.

Fabulous local pub. Great selection of wines/ beer & good food. Lovely to sit outside in the summer months. Booked a table for 12 people last night for my birthday and we had a great evening. Staff were really accommodating and are always friendly.

A lovely pub with good view and the food tasty

For my birthday yesterday I had a group of 27 friends join me for a roast at The Narrowboat. The Narrowboat team were super accommodating and friendly and everything went really smoothly. The roasts are huge and the staff were very chill about changing orders, splitting payments etc. There aren't many pubs that could accommodate a group this size and be so relaxed and flexible about it, and fit everyone all on one long table - it kind of felt like we had our own private space. Thanks so much guys, great birthday! <3

We hosted a private party downstairs here and it was a perfect space! The night was fantastic and the staff were brilliant from start to finish - they helped us secure a pre order, put the decorations up, get all drinks ready and assist throughout the night. They were very attentive and would highly recommend. The team really went above and beyond to make it a perfect evening!

I had a great experience with my friends at the Narrow boat! For context I have dietary restrictions and like to look at the menu beforehand to make sure there are options for me unfortunately I found the website tricky to navigate however I took my chances and when we sat down to look at the menu a very charming server talked me through what I could and couldn’t have on the menu and as a veggie himself what he suggests for a vegan. I ended up having the Pumpkin stew ( a seasonal special I believe) and it was lovely. Couldn’t recommend the pub more and make sure you get looked after by Joseph he went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience there! We will be coming back soon.

Great place for lunch and a chat

Nice place with the spirit and character, food is good and fare choice of drinks. If you come in the night - try to get yourself a table on a balcony to have a canal view.

I had birthday drinks here and it went so well. The staff were all so polite and accommodating and were really great throughout the night. The birthday was a real success and I couldn't have chosen a better pub!

Best fish & chips I have eaten for ages. Excellent service. Fairly quiet on a Tuesday lunchtime / early afternoon, but that was great for half a dozen septuagenarian's having a "catch up".

It's not necessarily centrally located, but the detour is still worth it! The ambience is great and the food is really delicious! There are a lot of young people in the pub.

The staff were very helpful with our wedding celebration. Food was great and at good portions. The balcony area let people circulate a little bit and take lovely pictures.

Inflation has hit very hard in this restaurant. We dined here last year. The previous experience was great. Unfortunately this time was far from a great experience. The portion size of the exact same dish as last time had been cut by almost half. The price was similar. The chips were advertised as triple cooked, this was not the case. The service when entering the restaurant was bad. We got shown our table without having been asked if we would like to see the menu or if we would like a drink. I went to the bar to order drinks for my wife and I. We will not be going back.

We had great Sunday roasts here. The beef roast was very tender and one of the best cooked beef roasts we have had. The staff were friendly and assertive. The setting is really lovely with a great view of the canal and it wasn't too noisy (like how pubs can get sometimes).

I love the Narrowboat. I often come here for a drink as I live nearby and it is rarely busy. It is often really easy to find a space on their balcony with view of the historic canal. In terms of food I really recommend their fish & chips as it is even better than other specialised chains. A lovely location if you want a local experience with nice views of the canal and all around good food.

Unfortunately we had terrible dining experience here, we were 6 people for dinner and waited a long time for our food to arrive. When our food eventually appeared, one of the dishes we ordered was a medium-rare steak but upon arrival it was cooked more well done. The steak was £29 and at this price I would expect this to be cooked correctly. I mentioned this to the waitress who accepted this was not cooked correctly and said they will send it back to the kitchen for a replacemenr. After 5 minutes, the manager came to our table questioning if we wanted the steak rare, as what they had provided was "medium" (in their opinion) and we kindly explained to her that the steak was brown throughout and had requested "medium rare". After 25-30 minutes had passed (the rest of our table had finished their meals) I complained to the manager, who told me my plate was next. A further 10 minutes later (meanwhile all the tables around us had been served their food) there was still no replacement sent. At this point we asked for the bill and for the steak not to be included on this, they said 2 minutes and 1 the steak appeared. Unfortunately, we had been waiting over 40 minutes and felt this was unacceptable so decided to pay the bill and leave.

Sweet pub and nice atmosphere for a refreshing drink. Stopped in during a walk and sat and watched the world go by from the upstairs balcony.

Awful bar service, one man behind the bar (Saturday 6th July at 4pm) who was incredibly rude. He put out his finger and said 'you have to be patient and wait' and continued to clean glasses after ignoring customers for 10 minutes. Also refused to put any ice in our drinks. Ruined our experience and the drinks were warm.

Not the best of the pubs in the area (Earl of Essex, Island Queen) but they are showing the EUROs (on tiny screens), has a nice balcony overlooking the canal but there is often a barge bar close by in the summer. I will keep coming here (my dog makes me) but the food is not great, good to pop in fir a quiet drink.

Miss the days in the 90s when The Narrow Boat was the best rock and alternative pub in Islington. It had great staff who knew all the regulars' drinks so words were not needed to order over the loud and rocking music.

Beware of Narrowboat, Islington. Food service times listed are totally inaccurate. Wasted my time coming over for dinner to be told the kitchen was closed. No reason given, yet another making up their own rules, not sticking to timings advertiser and mucking peoples evenings up. Not cool at all, will be sharing this with their Head Office..

Had a great time with me and my friends, we were served by both Gus and Priyanka who took our orders. They were very friendly and lovely to talk to.

Cosy pub, friendly service. We were a large group and the food was brought with long time lines we all ate at different times. We ordered for the medium rump steak and it cane well done and as we had waited for long just ate without making a fuss. I love the location and the views especially facing tye canal.

As a regular that's local to the narrowboat I was frustrated at the attitude of who I think is the pub manager, accusing me of running off without paying the last bar tab as well as insinuating that I am a bad dog parent. It was a genuine oversight in not paying the bar tab, of which I offered to pay but he refused to take my money. Drinks are always paid for before they are taken to the table. I can't but help wonder if this is a personal attack on my character, especially being gay. I hope not. Be mindful of being a patron at this pub.
