The wait staff is clearly inexperienced. They tried to take me order before my dining companion arrived. It took them three attempts to bring us an empty glass for the bottled water we ordered, namely a glass without ice. When we asked for the bill, it didn't come and after 10 minutes, I got up and asked for it again. By the way, half the wait staff were Chinese and probably students. The food was terrible, mushy vegetable gyoza and the kitchen is slow. It clearly cannot cope with a full, but not overflowing restaurant on a Friday night.

I have to say i was pleasantly surprised, portion size is good, price reasonable and overall the experience was very enjoyable indeed. Staff were friendly and helpful and the place is nice enough inside. It kind of reminded me of the food that a certain High Street chain who like long table communal seating did, when they were still good and gave decent portions. If you are ever in the Angel area and fancy something different give it a go, you wont be disappointed.

We booked last minute as we couldn't find a baby sitter and decided to go out with the kids for a quick and early dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As we came in, I thought the venue was tiny but then we were seated in the room at the back which was light and airy. The service was spontaneously caring; we had to wait a few minutes for the food - longer than a typical chinese but not disturbing at all, and I gather they cook to order the food. The order came all at the same time and was very good! The bill was a positive surprise.

We were going to a concert and came here for a pre show meal. The first thing I noticed was a sense of deja vu as I walked in the door. Yes it has been open only a short time and yes it was French before which was the previous incarnation I visited. The second was the friendly service. As I sat down I received a text from daughter telling me she was running late. I mentioned this and apologised and they brought me a bowl of crackers to keep me going. She finally turned up and I explained we were off to a concert and so could they keep the food flowing. Yes they could. I had the Thai fish cakes and daughter had the prawns for starters. We shared and so I can confirm that both are excellent. Our mains were equally enjoyable. Wine was reasonably priced for London, in fact the whole meal was reasonably priced for London. Food, price and friendly, timely service means we shall return for future concerts.

It is with deep regret that I now have to write another review and revert from my original review & opinions written on Facebook on this little restaurant that I once had a high praise for on my very first visit to them when using my Tastecard. Sadly, I need to expose the REAL TRUTH about this restaurant and the quality of their food that my group & I had to consume on which was our only second visit and sadly will most definitely be my groups last visit. To which I needs to make the public aware of what they will endure if using their Tastecard. To put it simply into a metaphor. The first time, Hoja done my stomach good. The second time, Hoja upset my stomach so bad. What the above statement is simply trying to highlight is that their quality of food on the first visit was of a good and positive experience. However, on our second let's say it was subpar and that of a limp noodle! We were wanting to try their Teriyaki Burger meals. However within the space of just two weeks it was then taken off their menu. Which is something my group found very strange. What I mean is what is so hard to have any fresh buns to put the meat in??? As also for a newly open restaurant to make changes such as that is a little too sudden. Considering that on Facebook they are emphasising quite a bit on this speciality meal that they'd once did. When it came to our Light Bites. Some of these were very dull. To which I shall elaborate. On my groups first visit we sampled Hoja's 'Salt & Pepper Squid', which was sublime on our first visit to them. On our second visit, Hoja's 'Salt & Pepper Chicken' was not warm enough and lack the distinctive depth and impact of what I should know 'Salt & Pepper' deep fried to be. My group and I were debating if it were a different chef on that evening? As it was abundantly clear they don't seem to know the art of flavour & depth of Pan-Asian food. Especially when it comes to 'Salt & Pepper' deep fried. Their Stir-Fry Ginger & Broccoli. Where do I begin on this dish!? It was so bland it simply had no flavour/taste whatsoever. The broccoli looked as if it had overstayed it's welcome and presented itself as if it came out of a hot sauna. Simply overcooked! The ginger was not present in the whole dish whatsoever. It's as if the ginger was terrified by the ugly sight of the broccoli it decided to run away off the plate. Thus putting out 'Have you tasted any Ginger' posters on its whereabouts on my taste buds.As for my dish that I'd ordered this was the Prawn 'pepper & garlicthai style garlic & ground mixed in pepper sauce'. I guess the prawns were so scared of where they were going to end up in a wok that the prawns were not stir fried at all, no wok style grill taste to them. I mean, once again the flavours that are listed were nowhere to be tasted. It was very bland and the sauce was more like stock. I'm confident enough to say that the free soup they give out at a 'Street Soup' would have tasted superiorly better!Hoja's 'Teriyaki Duck' didn't make one of my friends go "quack, quack!" with delight, more like "Goo, Goo!" The sauce was lumpy and once again lack depth. The duck wasn't of a good quality either. Their 'Egg Fried Rice' was very sticky and not fresh. As if the rice used for us has been sitting there for a few amount of hours. What my group & I had identified was that if people are going to use their Tastecard. Be wary of portion sizes. For example on my groups first visit it was just enough generous. On the second visit, like 'Lionel Richie' sang "hello is there any food there??" It's was ridiculously shy to be shared among a group of 3 people. I mean Hoja, not to sound gluttonous here. Are you being deliberately stingy with the food? The only positive I have to say about the venue is that they have one of the most beautiful women members of waiting staff there is. I mean as if she is a star of somewhat. So Ho-ja gonna call when your food lacks flavour of Pan-Asian then? Not Gok-Won, that's for sure. I guess some of your chefs need to truly master the art of Pan-Asian food. As there will aplenty of other future customers who will be Hojally disappointed. So start panning up or you'll soon be wok out of business!!

We had booked a table here and when we turned up today t was closed. A sign on the door said apologies closure due to kitchen problems... I didn't even receive a phone call to tell me my reservation would not be honoured. I travelled over an hour from Heathrow to get here and it was closed. I cannot understand how they didn't even have the decency to contact me... I gave my number when booking surely they request it for situations such as this. Sooo disappointing.

Really enjoyed some great food on valentines day! We had the spring rolls, dumplings, plus some sashimi and chow mein. Service was attentive enough, given it's a small restaurant. We waited a while for some food, especially when our satay was misunderstood as katsu. All rectified quickly. Great value for money, lovely team

Took my boyfriend for his birthday. A small place amongst tonnes of restaurants, I chose this mainly due to the taste card offer (he's a lucky guy) plus we had wanted to try a sushi restaurant and this had good reviews. We were fairly early so it wasn't crowded but the food wasn't out too early and we weren't harassed or ignored. Dodgy music sadly but couldn't fault the sushi.

This hidden gem is ideal for casual, nicely priced sushi and other classic Japanese staples. No frills, no extras, just high quality Japanese in a very casual setting. The pieces of nigiri were large and fresh. The teriyaki chicken was well made and tasty. Check out Aburi for a quick, delicious bite!
