We go there often..if you really want authentic Indian paratha and chole bature then go there. I have had best paratha and chole bature in Cardiff-Newport region.

Chaat is amazing Cholle bhature as well. Non veg could be slightly improved but amazing food.

Authentic and high quality. I have visited India, Sri Lanka and parts of the Middle East where Indian food is a staple, and this is definitely the closest to the real thing that I have sampled in Newport. Most restaurants offer British versions of Indian dishes. This is proper Indian.

Had a samosa chaat few times now, very delicious, hope the quality will remain the same. Will definitely return to have it again.

Authentic Punjabi Cuisine. The dishes have to be tasted to be believed. This is the best Indian real home cooking you will ever feast on.

Some desi food is made well They cant make indian tea.. tastes like powder tea Tables are sticky Seevice is good for two elderly cooks

Today we ordered Gol-gappa, fried rice and chicken somosa, mango pickle. What a disaster that was! Total waste of money. Funny thing are there are 4 chickpeas inside 1 gol-gappa and the sauce tastes like 'hajmi'. According to the amount of food the price is extremely high and not worthy. Disappointed.

I ordered online from the website, paid for it and waiting for 2 hours still didn’t arrive. Tried to call them 30 times no one answered. Can’t cancel the order because there was no cancel order option on the website. As a student this inconvenience really bothers me since it’s my first time trying this restaurant and want to help them by ordering straight from the website so they don’t need to pay extra to the delivery apps. But it all go to waste. I will not order from the website again and they are difficult to get in touch with.

Lovely little place, family run business with a couple of tables and chairs for dine-in Tried out the samosa chaat and it was perfect! The service was quick and owner was polite and approachable. The prices are reasonable for the size of the portions

Where to start….well, could have started with a review few years back when it opened, as can’t believe this place hasn’t got more reviews Echoing previous reviews, 100% genuine and authentic indian food. Classical everyday Punjabi food, you seriously will not be disappointed. Have opted for many meals, plenty to choose from, cooked in the homemade tradition where flavours and the preparation are evident when your meal arrives. One time ordered a couple of meals, one being the special biryani (stunning) with a small curry sauce. When I got home, the chef rang me to politely advise there is no need for curry sauce on the biryani as it will spoil the flavour of the meal, he’s right as the rice is so succulent you can eat with no sauce. That’s what I call taking pride in what you cook and serve. In all honesty only ordered a small sauce to dip my samosas in. OK, the venue is a typical cafe setup, but it’s clean, relaxed atmosphere. What better way to sit there smelling the fantastic spices going into your well prepped meal. Takeaway, delivery or sit down……every meal is spot on. If this place was in a large whistles, bells, waiter service venue, it would be one of the top Indian cuisine in Wales.

Worst food ever I tried at Newport. Waste of money. Ordered a Biriyany but got some rubbish food. Not worth at all.

A neat little family-run restaurant serving authentic Indian flavours. We tried the non-veg thali, chana masala, and the bhaturas, all of which were out of this world. Definitely worth a visit when in Newport.

Went here by complete chance and so happy we did. Amazing food (one of the best Indian meals I’ve had), very well priced, and very welcoming owners.

We stumbled upon this humble restaurant while looking for a place to eat in Newport and boy were we pleasantly surprised. The food came quickly, was reasonably priced and delicious. The people who owned the place were also really friendly and tailored the dishes to suit our spice preferences. Would definitely recommend.

The best Punjabi food I have eaten in a while. Whilst visiting South Wales, never really could find authentic Punjabi food. This is it! Review from a punjabi, the best Punjabi food. We tried Dal, Rajmah, Kadhi, and Bhindi was the best! Masterji’s hospitality was great. I was staying in Ebbw Vale and 40 mins drive for the food was worth it!

However, not one person in our party could find a negative thing to say about this place - the food was absolutely amazing and completely authentic (being Asian ourselves, we know authenticity). The owner was such a nice and genuine person - despite not opening on Sundays, he opened his place up for us as he knew we were visiting from afar - not many people who would do that! I cannot recommend this place highly enough - it's a cheap, no frills more of a cafe experience but you are getting authentic Punjabi food here! We will definitely visit again when in the area!!

Definitely worth trying the samosa chaat ,It's delicious , a shame can't say the same about the Currys wasn't a fan of the sheekh kebabs ether . customer service delivery etc is great

On a business trip to Newport and was recommended to various Indian restaurants. This one caught my eye as my wife’s name is Nanu and my sons name is Gugu. So I placed an order and found the staff very helpful. On delivery I was delighted to discover that the reviews were totally correct and that truly the food was authentic Punjabi. Not sure about the naan bread but the main dishes and the yoghurt tasted very much like my wife’s cooking. Even the onion salad had an authentic taste. Very pleased and would recommend their food to everyone.

The best Indian food this side of UK and the best authentic taste I have eaten since my relatives visited from India and cooked for me. You can't find any other restaurant in Wales that would cook such a taste of home. The quality of food was authentic and what you would get in a restaurant in India, but a really good restaurant in India. The owners are from India so they know a thing or two about 'Real' Indian food. Most Indian restaurants in Wales are run by Bangladeshi inspired Cuisine or other South Asian owners but Real Food from India with all Indian ingredients are hard to find nit only in Wales but England and Scotland. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. I got Real taste of Indian Spinach and Paneer, Okra that could have been cooked in India and Paranthas that could've been home cooked in India too. I'll be back to enjoy all the other menu. And yes, they didn't offer me anything, nothing at all to write this review. I'll come back for more food and write another review.

It was a shame that I found this place when I was leaving Newport. It's a hidden gem of Punjabi food in Newport. Proper and authentic Indian food, not often you find authentic places like these. Ordered several times and the quality of food is amazing everytime. Food is flavorful, delicious and spiced to your liking. My personal favorite was kadhi pakoda, rajma curry and chicken biryani. Highly recommend without question!!!!

The third jewel in Newport's curry crown (which is saying something as it has some high quality competition). First and foremost this is more of a smaller cafe setting than a traditional evening restaurant spot, so it shouldn't be judged in quite the same way as other Indian restaurants in that sense. It's absolutely perfect for lunch, or an evening takeaway however (they deliver too!). But let's talk about the food. God, the food! Cooked near enough in front of you by an Indian husband and wife team, with their lovely daughter Gugu (from whom the place takes its name!) taking your order...after much consideration I would say that this is the tastiest curry you can find in Newport, possibly the whole South West (and it certainly beats all that's on offer in Bristol for that matter). This place may not have the ambience of the Hatti, or the healthiness of Curry on The Curve...but by gosh if it isn't some of the most delicious curry you will ever eat outside of India. And at nearly Indian prices, two people can eat like absolute kings for little over £20! The aubergine curry and kidney bean curries in particular need to be tasted to be believed, but everything is to die for. If you can't decide what to try, just go for one of their sublime thali. Want a cheap delicious lunch? Just get one of their £4 boxes for a generation portion of curry and rice. Can't recommend this place enough. It proves once more how Newport, despite its flaws, is way out ahead of the game when it comes to Indian dining. My wife and I find ourselves popping in or ordering from here almost every single week, as we end up craving it if we go too long without it. 10 out of 5 stars

Fantastic food and a really lovely lady that makes you feel welcome. It's my new favourite takeaway and I'd encourage you to try them. Spicy mutton curry with garlic rice is amazing. Wish I'd kept some for later but I ate it all and now I'm lying in bed wishing I bought more to put in the microwave when I get to work

If you are looking for haute cuisine - or for a posh ambience, you've come to the wrong place. But this restaurant that looks more like a cafe serves good food in a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere. We certainly enjoyed our visit.

Very tasty food. Nanu and Gugu are the friendly owners that do a great job preparing the food in a traditional way. It's possible to have your food extra spicy on request. The aubergine dish and the punjabi i can definately recommend.

After trying nearly all the curry houses in Newport I can honestly say I have never tasted curries like it. I can't rate this place enough. If it wasn't for a friends recommendation I would have never known about it. A hidden gem! Amazing food and amazing customer service. Always so polite. 5* for sure!

Best punjabi food in South Wales. Owners are very welcoming.

This is a simple cafe and much more like restaurants in India than the average Indian restaurant in the UK. The food is simple and good with more vegetarian dishes than most restaurants. I chose a thali which was plenty of food. Next time I’ll choose to have a couple of pooris rather than rice. Good value, good food and I’ll be back. They’re happy for you to bring your own wine or I assume beer.

The aroma from this restaurant was delightful and made us stop for dinner. So glad we did, the food was absolutely delicious. We both had the vegetable thali which was a great selection of dishes. Highly recommend trying this restaurant, we'll definitely be going again. Thank you to the lovely friendly staff too.

Really kind, tasty food and good prices.

After doing some shopping we felt hungry and came across this place and decided to try it, we both had the meal deal where you choose 2x chef selected veg curries of the day with rice & chapatti, the food was great, it is served in a lunchbox, the staff are very friendly, we will definitely eat here again and I would highly recommend it.

I have been a few times since and have not been disappointed at all, fantastic food, slowly working my way through the menu and always look forward to visiting!
