Nando's in Birmingham

Came here with the family and ordered a handful of food. Was seated very quickly. After deciding what to order; we ordered a bit of everything. Boneless platter, chicken grilled burger and 4 boneless thigh meals. Wait time was around half an hour till we received our food. The sides were all nice and everything but the chicken was genuinely burnt. Like with all due to respect; I could just taste burnt butterfly chicken. In all fairness; after complaining to the manager; they gave a replacement butterfly chicken which did taste better.

Frequently visit - can’t really fault the food at this branch as generally it taste as good as most Nando’s branches. However the general hygiene and cleanliness is very much questions. Tables surfaces seem sticky and overall the place looks. messy in toilets and corners out the outlets.

In the last 6 months this Nandos has gone down Hill fast…every time I have visited At least 4 times I have had to complain about something the food portions and quality has declined and I feel they are not value for money…rather spend my money elsewhere …shame as I used to enjoy going there once !

Music wasn't loud enough over the loud talking and so didn't have the atmosphere. We had to wait to be seated which is fine, but there's no space inside and so you have to wait outside in the cold. It took 10 mins to receive the glasses for the drinks machine, despite the fact two staff were stood chatting, albeit the staff member did apologise. The food was good, but there continues to be confusion for vegans such as myself as to which bastes are not vegan - why do they even still need Shellac in their bastes - unnecessary and just makes food look shiny, yet this is not a jewellers. The front door was slamming loudly as the closing mechanism was obviously faulty and we were sat right by the doors. Plates were also left on tables a while. Lastly, although I'm vegan and would rather nobody ate meat, if they are going to then the welfare practices should be as high as possible (although no meat is truly high welfare). Yet, this is a halal Nandos, meaning the animals are conscious at the time of slaughter - large corporations such as Nandos should be promoting best practice in this area, rather than just making decisions based upon profit. After all, the animals don't follow a religion and so shouldn't be expected to comply with religious practices to their detriment.

Had to wait for around 10 - 15mins to get a table. We were seated next to the door so it was freezing cold throughout. The cashier mixed up our table number so it meant our food wasn't as fresh. Nonetheless it still tasted good, I guess the sauces did their magic. We ordered a mash potato and fries on the side which were delicious. We ordered a platter of full chicken with large fries and large mash which came with 2 drinks. Later realised could've just ordered the same platter without drinks and then order 1 bottomless drink separately (which me and my partner could've shared) which would've saved us £4. Oh the variety of sauces were deffo the highlight of the meal lol so many different flavours to choose from!

I went yesterday to pick up food and as I was waiting to order I saw a baby mouse on top of the counter! I let the staff know immediately and one of the staff came over, trapped it in a glass and took it away and didn’t say a word. Obviously never going back

Food was pretty good for the price, my wrap was really really salty hence the minus one star but overall was okay, service was good too.

Food was alright had better else were but wasn’t bad only downfall was the staff and customer service we was seated no menus on the table no napkins the table was barely wiped down so mines rice from before us was still on the table , not once did anyone ask us if the food was okay , the staff are rude and need retraining on customer service entirely because that seems to be skills they lack they show no empathy and really could not care less about you being there I felt like a ghost there honestly horrible experience I work in hospitality and that’s not how you treat customers neither how you act either re train your staff or hire new ones might make everyone’s experience abit better I definitely will not be returning back to this nandos because of it never felt so unwelcome anywhere like I have here at this specific one very hostile .

This was a great place to go with friends to catch up a bit busy at times so longer wait but perfect to get a quick meal with friends and enjoy

Delicious food at the starcity the food was nice and fresh. Good customer service. The ice cream is always working unlike the paerrybarr brance. The Perry barr branch does nice food unfortunately the manager Abdul isn't very nice but never mind. Starcity has amazing staff.

Nando’s never seems to disappoint the food was amazing. Didn’t even wait that long staff gave us a table straight away. Ordered the food it didn’t take that long to come which was great. Overall experience was fantastic.

Staff are not welcoming, despite my one of the side missing, no apologise no sorry, i had to come to the till and ask for my missing side. Won't visit again at this branch

The food tasted boiled like it had no flavour staff extremely wierd ordered worth 75 pound lemonade taste was bland except the fries. The chicken was so dry. Not worth coming the rice tastes like one year old the food was served cold

The food here is good, service is great too, it’s just grimy and sticky from the moment you walk in. Grubby floors, tables, washrooms, chairs. Kids running wild. Fine as a family restaurant I guess, but wouldng personally rush back!

We were served by a male staff called Nathan I think. Black, accent sounds South African. This guy understands customer service. Went above and beyond for us and we’re really grateful. Food was fine too.

I ordered on Deliveroo and needed help with some wild herb sauce. For some reason Nandos does not sell wild herb sauce which is so strange. So I rang the store and asked for sachets which they did not have. However, my saviour, Stefan (hopefully I spelled that right) put a couple of tubs filled with wild herb sauce for me in the bag and saved the day. Literally cannot eat Nandos without my wild herb sauce but that was so kind of him and really good service.

We had the pleasure of being served by Rajae during our recent visit to Nando’s, and his service truly made our experience exceptional. From the moment he showed us to our seats, he greeted us with a warm, positive smile that instantly set the tone for a great meal. Throughout our time there, Rajae remained attentive, polite, and professional, making sure all of our needs were met without ever being intrusive. His friendly demeanor and respectful manner made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. It’s rare to find such excellent service, and we were genuinely impressed by his positive attitude and politeness. Rajae’s service certainly elevated our dining experience!

Perfect place for family dinner out. #DAMZ is one of the best employee there very helping, caring and always a nice smile on face and decent personality. I gave all five stars only because of his warm welcome.

I went there for the first time and it's my last time to visit there. It was overcrowded. I ordered chicken pitta and mac n cheese in the side order, and it was okay-not extraordinary. The biggest issue for me was the quantity of the food; it was really low for the price. I don’t get why they charge so much for such a small portion. I don't recommend anyone to try their food, especially if they're looking for a filling meal.

Food comes at completely different times to other people on the table, so you could finish your main meal and other people would still waiting for their food. We asked the waitress x2 on updates of orders and eventually the manager came at the same time with the food. By the time their food came, my food went cold. Wouldn’t recommend this Nando’s unfortunately.

Terrible practice of staff pouncing on the table to clear it even when there is still food in the plates and the diner has gone to refill the drink with the intention of returning to the table to finish their food. This has happened to me at least 3 times at this restaurant. I know for a fact that the staff are under instructions from the restaurant management to do so. I have been eating at Nando’s for over 20 years and have dined in many of their restaurants up and down the country and the Star City restaurant is the only one where they do this. Obviously, the objective is to boot out diners as early as possible so that the table can be given to others. It’s all about maximising earnings.

Poor service. Serving size was so small, shrinkflation is at its peak. Disappointed. Ordered butterfly chicken with 2 sides. Waste of money.

Sadly. Adult and child has terrible time. No cutlery. Some of the staff rude and ignore you. On more than one occasion. Manager around but doesn’t approach as sees issues, yet focuses on other things he chooses. First and last time. Terrible absolutely terrible bibe at this site in star city.

I have never before had a bad experience in a Nando’s restaurant until I visited recently Nando’s at Star City for the first time! I believe if you do a job you should aim to do it very well or at least properly. The staff at this restaurant are lazy because the restaurant tables and floors were completely filthy & staff leaving tables uncleared with flies all around for whole duration of my time there. If I hadn’t of already paid for my food then I would have left. The food was inadequate as well.

If I could give 0 stars I would just because of the worker charnjit with absolute no customer service what’s so ever was speaking very impolitely whilst taking my order. She looked very grumpy and rude as if she didn’t want to be working.

I came here with my family yesterday and the staff was very rude. The chicken was watery and undercooked with no flavour and the garlic bread was burnt and we saw everyone around us was also leaving with alot of unfinished food still on the tables. We received our food after waiting 40 minutes and it was not worth the money as the only eatable thing was the fries. I strongly recommend to not visit the star city branch of Nandos if you wish to have an enjoyable meal.

Waited outside for 15 minutes when I could see at least 5 tables free. Food came out luke warm, garlic bread was just sat there and when told them my garlic bread was missing gave me cold garlic bread. Waited 10 minutes for clean plates, knives and forks to be re-stocked. Staff looked unconcerned on how slow everything was. Won't be coming back for a while.

Great food, great vibe and polite, friendly service.

We are very disappointed!.The chicken that was given to us was not cooked enough and was old and fell on the floor still had hairs on it, just topped with salsa so it wouldn't be noticeable. We pooped and vomited. Our stomachs was very bad. Some Nando was very dirty too! The glasses, spoons, 🔪 fork were not clean.. Some workers at the grill had dirty hair no cover! Did not wash hands never Nando’s again..We always eat there but now never again.. Sorry to tell you that they need to do something cleanliness is very important!

One of my wife’s favourite restaurants and food is halal here. Been here many times and due to go again soon as we haven’t been in a while. Service is sometimes a tad poor. Food is always great and has that unique Nando’s taste that many others try to imitate. This review was from 6 years ago. 1.7.24 - as always great tasting food and service still lacks. For a busy establishment they always seem to be understaffed. Prices have gone up but we went for our usual meal platters of chicken and one of wings with a range of tasty sides.

No greet when I came in..was very quiet to.. found this rude.. and told the host to do her job.. which is to smile and greet.. then went to order.. the cashier was more interested in talking about non essential conversation that took 4 people to order 20 minutes..I was also a party of 4 and ordered in 3 mins..I then proceeded to ask for the manager.. who said they was short staffed..but I mentioned you weren't when I came in..food was OK nandos standard. However they need a massive overhaul of personnel..

Firstly, the service at the tills was slow. There were 2 members of staff just talking and laughing at the end of the counter whilst I was standing in a queue 3 customer deep. The food was shockingly fast to arrive. It was so fast there is no question it wasn’t cooked fresh. Additionally, the food was cold and my chicken wings were white. My dad’s Chicken Butterfly was dry. It was dad’s first time to Nando’s, and I was unsuccessful at winning him over. Looks like we won’t be having another Nando’s anytime soon.

It has been a while since I went to nandos and it felt very different to previous times. Changes to kids food like removing burgers & replacing with pitta bread were not ideal. The ice cream machine was not working. No gelato if adults wanted a dessert. Missing items ordered. The service was good, the missing items came quickly. The staff were lovely. Unfortunately a long queue at front to order with one staff member working as hard as he could because he was also having to deal with orders for delivery. It seems the delivery orders were more important as actual customers waited. No management could be seen to ensure both were dealt with by placing an extra member of staff. It seemed staff numbers had dwindled. The atmosphere was average, the food not as great tasting as I had hoped. Nando's has lost some of its appeal esp with competitive food businesses nearby & management needs to take a good long look at the business.

Delicious, accommodating and family friendly. Will always have a place to dine in and is good for online / takeaway orders. Good selection of halal food and does not have a long queue or waiting times

the local chicken shops definitely do better chicken and sauce. Competition is big, but nandos has not changed much and is asleep on the wheels of time. While local chicken shops have improved their chicken recipes and sauce, plus price makes a difference today.

Have come to this store and normally it’s great when it is open however more often then not it’s closed in the day now no signs on door they just don’t open the doors. When you do get there attention the rudeness is disgusting

Food was brilliant. I just feel like some of the staff lack the service. We were greeted with one fed up staff member who couldn't even crack a smile let alone say hello to my child who was being polite to him saying hello how are you? Staff who brought food out were the same just seemed so fed up and clearly didn't want to be there doing the job.

Honestly the worst, I will repeat what others has said, dirty tables left for hours Party of 5 sat on a on a table of 4 never thou there were empty tables Staff were poor, I saw staff look at dirty tables and which had not been cleaned the hour we were in there. I saw meat being cooked multiple times as service was slow and the food was cold Was told we were next up 15 minutes later no food, then Took 10 minutes to talk to someone to get a refund. At least I got chicken wings at Pizza Hut

The worst Nandos experience I have ever had. Started off with a young wait staff who seemed to have no idea what was going on, blankly walked us around the room trying to find a table for 5. Ended up seating us at a table for 4, even though we could see bigger tables that were empty and clean. Then waited almost an hour for food, the majority of which we could see was left to go cold on the side while they waited for more sides to be cooked. Baring in mind, the restaurant was not busy so I’m not entirely sure what the hold up was. When we first asked about our order we were told we would be the next to be served, only to then see others who had arrived after us receiving their food. After a no show on the food we decided to ask for a refund, which then took another 10 minutes of standing around at the till! No apology given, just a receipt shoved in front of us and told to fill out our contact details for the refund. Very poor service, the staff didn’t seem to want to be there. On top of this, tables were left empty with food still on for the entire hour we were there. Some major staff rehaul needs to be done at this site.

Before I came here to eat was wondering why so many bad reviews but I find out it's shame To see bad attitude rude lady work at there and she is manager oh my god sorry to worker at there . She don't know how to handle a bad situation . She just ready to argue with customers and not try to find solutions and treat me front of my child it's big shame . Visited nandos in ramadan to open my fast. The store was really busy but we received excellent customer service from one of the staff members mohin. Food was also fresh and tasty.

Arrived to a deserted restaurant which is normally quite busy. Ordered half chicken chips and corn and hallumi. My aunty ordered butterfly chicken with chips and rainbow coleslaw. I had a bottomless drink and my aunt ordered ginger ale. She placed her order before me. I got my food before her and it was cold. Then told there was no ginger ale. Food sent back and then brought back and told it was fresh but my chicken had just been turned over and the fries placed in a bowl. Sent away again. Then my aunt was told her meal would be 15 mins, remember she ordered before me. I asked for our meals to be brought out together. They returned with my meal 5 mins later it took 42 minutes for my aunt to get her burger which was awful I had nearly finished my foodvwhen her meal arrived. Best thing was the bottomless drinks. Complained to the manager who gave a lame excuse saying it was quiet and the staff didn't know what to do when tables arrived. Given a free desert and some sweet potato wedges. Rubbish deal. later. Still no meal for my aunt. I had almost finished mine when her butterfly burger arrived 42 minutes after ordering. The meal wasn't hot but by then we were exhausted euth complaining. Chicken was dry and both meals were unpleasant. Best thing was the bottomless drink and even then there was no ice.

Waited 42 minutes for meal and when it arrived the chips was cold and the salad was very dry. Poorly presented. While the customer service was good the food was disappointing.

The menus, table and cutlery were dirty and grubby, the food was cold the restaurant was cold and the manager I complained to was full of excuses and not prepared to accept all the faillings

Went out for a dinner and the chicken was unexplainable. It was old, dry and had a gone off taste to it. We were very disappointed. The chicken flavour was only on the outer skin of the chicken, leaving the inside totally plain. We left the restaurant wishing we never came.

I've been here a few times. Each time I've been there is always something not on the menu, this from being chicken with bones, or sometimes chicken thighs. Staff are nice. However, there is some improvement needed regarding service as I had to ask a member of staff 3 times for some butter, as I had a corn on the cob.

Chicken is always good. Nothing to fault there. However when ever I order a delivery sauces have always been provided. So this is the experience i am use too. On this order there were no sauces. I called the restaurant and the lady manager explained they are short in the store. This is accpetble but what was really annoying was when she emphasised they are complimentary. This was dis heartning and there was no apology. She was not at all phased or displayed any care that a customer had recieved food with no sauces. I replied to explain the sauces are one of the most important aspect of a nandos meal its what diatigushes you from other piri chicken restaurants. She continued to reply with the comlimentary explanation and that i should hqve requested in the comments. The app needs updating and if customers want sauce sachets these should be an option to request or purchase not just the bottles. I expected the manager to be a little apologetic but she was not. I am sure this is not how Nandos want there customers spoken too. I have been using this particular Nandos since they opened 15 -20 years ago when star city first opened. Truly disappointed today.

Worst branch ever to go to! Service is so slow and customer service is rubbish. We was stood at the door for 20 minutes while staff just watched and walked passed until I had to ask someone if there is a table free or not as they should say rather than making us wait or say how long. There was also a dirty dustpan and brush in the way which is a hazard the customers and staff was tripping over it near us and the staff didn’t even bother picking it up. Finally seated after 35 minutes we went to order and everything was out of stock. They should let us know before wasting our time. Service is absolutely rubbish.

I cant get enough of nandos, this is one of my go to places. The team and the service really make up for the experience of dining in.

Poor and slow service. There was only one staff on the till to take orders. Had to wait over 10 mins just to place our order. The manager who was at the tills could see the queue was growing longer and longer yet totally ignored it! When the food arrived, the staff serving us was mumbling to the point where we had to ask him to repeat himself 3 times and even then we couldn’t make out what he was saying. They got 2 things on the order wrong! Not a great visit.

I Go here sometimes and I’ve got to say, the amount of people you can’t even sit is unbelievable when you’ve got chairs everywhere but that’s not all. I went and waited Half an hour for just a butterfly chicken and chips. You’ve got to be quicker

I’ve managed to avoid the hype of this chain for years however was the only place beyond McDonalds in star city that looked ok . A travesty of a dining “ experience “ how grim must Birmingham be for people to come back here ? £18 gets a handful of chips , four chicken thighs which were about two bites of dry horribly spiced mush and a corn on the cob which managed to be soggy, hard and tasteless . I won’t be back

Quite disappointed with this Nando’s tbf. There was no queue but we waited to be seated. No one came and after like 15 minutes we just sat ourselves down at a seat. Every time we come our food is burnt. Well today I ordered chicken thighs, peri chips and garlic bread with side of halloumi. My food came and my garlic bread was missing. Went back to the till and asked for my garlic bread to be given two pieces that were literally burnt. I took it to the table and thought let’s just try I’m not a person to go back again. I bit into it and it was a horrible burnt taste. Went back again and got given two different garlic breads which were a lot better. No apology or nothing. It’s a shame because the chicken lacked flavour too. My sisters garlic bread was rock hard she couldn’t even eat it but at this point we gave up.
