Nando's in Carlisle

Hadn't been here for some years now, and it wasn't our game plan this evening. However, here we are. Being early evening on a Monday, it was quiet, and we hadn't booked. We were able to choose any table we liked. Having been out all day in the wilds, it was pleasantly warm. Our meal was easy to order at the counter. Staff were able to make a couple of adjustments so we could share some items. For this reason, we opted out of using the app. Loaded chips to share, a mountain of chicken, mac n cheese, and sweet potato wedges. We were surprised at the speed with which our food arrived. The loaded chips could have been hotter temperature wise. It was enjoyable and the staff were very good. The background music was quite loud, which made it difficult for me to hear properly. It would be great if little bowls of water could be put on the table for rinsing, especially for those needing to wrestle chicken wings with their fingers. There's public transport close by (rail and bus), and a few pay car parks, or if you're not expecting to be more than a couple of hours there's on street disc zone parking.

Ordered a starter of sweet potato wedges which came quickly, however my main took over 20 minutes and when it arrived they had messed up my order. I asked to get it changed and they came back 5 minutes later and had forgotten the halloumi I had ordered as extra with my burger. They gave it to me as a side but had also not put any peri peri on my chips. By this time, my partner had already finished his meal. Awful service- servers were miserable, rude and the atmosphere was dull. Not coming here again

Food is very good and service is also spot on. Plenty of chicken choice and various peri peri strengths available. Carlisle Nando's is often a busy place but today it was calm with plenty of tables available. From ordering to receiving starter was really quick and main meal also arrived swiftly. A sign of the times is that in Nando's there is a security guard on duty. Today there was a fifteen minute wait for a table but once seated and the food ordered the speed of the order being filled & then served was as before swift and impressive.

Sadly my experience was influenced by my poor choice of meal from the menu. There was nothing wrong with it, it simply wasn’t for me. The attention from the staff was faultless, but I can’t really rate the atmosphere, it was almost empty.

This place is NOT halal. This is just for information for people looking for halal places as someone in the last review said this place is halal but it is NOT. Been with my family and asked them, they said no and we had vegetarian food. Which was really nice .

A person of Afro Carribbean origin was cleaning and tidying tables and very kindly let me sit at Table No 1. Approximately 15 minutes later I asked the same person for a menu and also discovered that I had to go to the counter where there is an EPOS terminal. I did so and ordered A bottle of Still Water, Butterfly Chicken Breast, Lemon and Herb dressing and Regular Chips. I distinctly saw in big bold characters all the items I requested on the EPOS display screen. The Still Water was at the top of the list. My food was brought to my table ie Table No 1. A few minutes later I asked the same person who was tidying tables to verify if the bottle of Still Water was on it's way. He returned to inform me that it wasn't on my order. I checked my EPOS receipt and he was correct. I went to the EPOS terminal and attempted to order a bottle of Still Water. The same person was at the EPOS terminal that I had dealt with a little while previous and on the EPOS receipt it states the name of Ashleigh as Host. Date Tuesday 03 September 2024 at 15:17:24 hrs is shown on the receipt. The person at the EPOS terminal bluntly said there was no water, and suggested my using the drinks vending machine. The chicken tasted okay but the chips weren't fresh. Why is there no clear signage that states that customers should order their food at the counter? Also when I did order at the counter since an item I requested was not available would it be much to expect as a bona fide customer to be told that fact? Overall I feel that given the restaurant could not be described as being busy the communication skills and lack of service in expediting my order were well below 2024 standards.

Food came really quickly & was fresh. Staff were polite and a came running out when we forgot our sunglasses as we were leaving. 10/10

**Do Not Order Delivery—Consistently Disappointing** Every time we order delivery, the food arrives burned—it's truly unacceptable. This is particularly frustrating because when dining in the restaurant, the experience is completely different and much better. It gives the impression that they reserve the burned food for delivery orders, not realizing that some of us, like myself, are disabled and depend on these meals. Being left without food for the day is not just inconvenient, it's distressing. On top of that, our order with Deliveroo was 50 minutes late, and the food was cold. Both Nando’s and Deliveroo have a lot of room for improvement. When I called to address the issue, I was met with rudeness from customer service on both ends. As a disabled person, I saved for four weeks to enjoy a special Friday meal with my husband, only to be left with nothing, and told by Nando’s Carlisle that they were too busy to provide a replacement. The lack of empathy, problem-solving, and basic customer care is appalling.

Cameron was a star tonight, after my train was cancelled I only had a short time to get the next one, I went in and it was so busy explained my situation and they were so fast and friendly, it really made my day

The food was good as always but the reason for my low rating is the place was filthy!! I actually felt dirty coming out of there. The floor was covered in dirt and food. The manager was working so not sure why he was stood there and not cleaning the place up, very disappointing. Also the girl that served us was covered in marks on her black outfit the place just seemed filthy! Hope it can get resolved as the food is lovely just let down by the cleanliness. I got a photo of the entrance of all the food on the floor.

Been to many nandos on my travel and this one twice. Both times unfortunately disappointing. Takes around 20 mins to bring our cups, in which time someone literally came in, ordered, ate and left. They were out of 60% of the food this time which we could deal with except the food we got after 50 minutes of waiting tasted charred, burned and were sure they forgot about us. The staff were polite but the poor and slow service just isn’t what we usually expect from nandos.

Ordered for collection at 8:30pm but it was only ready at 8:48pm. The restaurant was empty and we were given no explanation, quite disappointing, expected better.

Good tasty food . Nandos is on the expensive side for what you get . Staff lovely, warm, friendly, helpful . Clean and spacious restaurant.

How disappointing, staff where pleasant and seemed attentive on arrival, we where seated promptly without any fuss all going well so far we sat at our table and chatted while deciding what to order, it is well lit and spacious unfortunately there where two steps to the lower area which would cause an issue for wheelchair uses, after ordering we waited and waited the table next to ours who arrived after we where seated seemed to have hit the jack pot as their meal arrived promptly and from appearances was piping hot. Onto our meal, when the food finally arrived we all eagerly tucked into our food, I started with my chips as I'm a firm believer that they are the most simplest food to cook and a very good way of measuring the ability of the kitchen, to my disappointment they where "warm" chips should not be served warm, they should be the last addition to a meal because they are more of a filler to the main, whether that be a chicken fillet or chicken wings or a chicken burger, chips are not the focus of your meal. I was, to say the least irritated by the apparent lack of brain cells that the kitchen staff had so I moved cautiously to my chicken burger and as I gave a healthy bite into it I was confronted with the same level of disappointment, it was "warm" what a shame. It tasted like it had sat under the heat lamps (kitchen staff understand) too long. I personally had an experience that would not make me want to walk back through the front door however that's just my experience I'm sure there are many other people who have had much better experiences. I won't be going back, unfortunately first impressions last.

Stopped for a quick takeaway whilst at the Station Hotel for a night. Quick,being the operative word, delicious, was the food, polite and courteous, the service and generally, a great place if chicken is your thing!

I attended this branch today as I missed my train and had over an hour to spare and I’m glad I did. The staff were friendly, super attentive and could not do enough for me; it was a great interpersonal experience. I never really leave reviews but felt this place and its staff and manager deserved it. I’m so sorry I didn’t catch any names but will edit this post upon my return in a few weeks. Thank you!

Never been 8n a nandos restarunt before today as thought it was just fast food ? Well I was wrong the service started with Sophie who was ba brilliant host The food was impeccable The cleanliness was impeccable All the staff after Sophie were fantastic And had a great proffessional approach to their work and treated us with the greatest of respect Reccomend this Restaurant to every sceptic as I was Sometimes it's great ti be wrong THANK U NANDOS Will be back n t week

Friendly staff. Fast efficient service. Food was superb.

Haven't had nandos for years so gave it a try , got the quarter chicken with two sides for £11 and something. Tiny chicken drum and thigh with a few slithers of meat on, it did taste nice though.but need more than slithers , should have got the half of chicken. Came with a small box of rice , again needed more .and the sweet potatoes wedges were okay. Got broccoli and sweet potato wedges which where okay I suppose.nothing special. Got a portion of halloumi fries that were lovely with the chilli jam. So if go again I'm going to get bigger chicken portion. As the chicken is the star of the show in this place.

Staff went above and beyond, food was gorgeous and really well priced.

First time at the place just last Sunday and I order a chicken burger. A few hours later I’m in the hospital with salmonella poisoning if had eaten two of them I would have died. So be aware at that Nando’s and look after your life

Great food - a little pricey but tasty and well-presented.

Staff were very helpful with our group of 4 adults and 4 kids on a busy Saturday afternoon and were very conscientious when dealing with kid's allergies.

Avoid this place. 40 minutes I waited for my meal and it was stone cold. Member of staff serving not interested in customer.

Service is terrible. Ordered food at 17.46, brought to the table at 1822. Tables that came in after us had their food brought out long before us and when I challenged guy serving the table he shrugged his shoulders and went up and brought our food out which was cold so had been left out on counter. No apologies for the delay nothing. We will not return to this branch.

We haven’t eaten here since it opened. Pretty weird atmosphere which is solely my personal take. Awkward that staff having meetings and breaks in the restaurant, distracting whilst trying to relax. I get modern ways of ordering, but I couldn’t be bothered with another app in my life, I don’t get paid to do my own order, that’s my way of looking at it, I did it anyway. From ordering to the food arriving was at least 20 mins. I understand if cooked from raw a whole chicken breast could take this time. The Mac and cheese was cold, the fillet burger pretty tasteless and the chicken dry, the bun adds to the dryness, hard to eat. Chips were okay. We aren’t McDonald’s or KFC etc visitors, these chains don’t do it for us. I thought it was expensive for what you get. Carlisle has some great restaurants that are value for money. No hand sanitizer in the dispenser at the gents either.

My family and I lived the place, their service is great. We enjoyed having our New Year's dinner at Nando's Carlisle. Would definitely go back there when in the area.

Hostess was lovely, food was terrible. Burnt garlic bread and cold fries. Plates sat for 20 mins while the staff just messed on with each other. Not worth the money.

My partner & I have been on a long drive from London to Stranraer today & decided to pop into Carlisle Nandos this evening for a meal. The food was absolutely delightful. I'm quite the Nandos addict so I can definitely say the food we ate was cooked perfectly & to our liking! We both really enjoyed our meal tonight. Our food was delivered by Cameron, who also came to check on us halfway through our meal to make sure everything was okay. He was polite, friendly, funny & energetic! His personality really put a smile on our faces, so he deserves a lovely review! If we visit Carlisle again, we will definitely be back! Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year everyone! 😁🎄

Quiet as it was fairly late no wait for table staff friendly food was excellent piri piri macaroni was superb

I love Nando’s. I used to work in Nando’s too and since I left i’ve been trying to fit it in my monthly routine at least once or twice. Wherever i am in the country. However, this store here is very disappointing and after a few failed attempts i’m sad to say that I won’t come back here anymore as there is always something wrong. The first time the chicken was pretty dry but i didn’t make a fuss. The second time, 2 portions of garlic bread we ordered were very burnt and we asked for a replacement. Today, I went all excited to try the new Churrasco burger with mac&cheese and I had the worst experience yet in this store. Which put me off even from trying the new burger again. Both our burgers came without Churrasco sauce, without pickled onions and there was only 1 baby leaf in each burger. Once i noticed that, I asked the nandoca if they ran out of pickled onions and he said yes. Now, this is not nice! I paid £15.50 for a burger which consisted on a garlic bread and 2 chicken thighs without anything else. I understand that sometimes you can run out of ingredients etc, but at least your staff should have let me know when I made the order. When I worked in Nando’s, as a Nandoca and lover of the company and its customers, it was my responsibility to communicate with everyone and make the customers aware when something was missing, and in all cases provide an alternative. This was obviously not the case today, and my expectations for the new burger have of course been let down. This is the closest Nando’s to me and it is a shame that I don’t trust it to go back anymore.

Loved everything about the place. Even when the person in charge was dealing with a water supply problem, the customers always got served promptly and she sorted the problem very professionally.

Came all the way from Workington as I was craving a Nando’s, had beautiful service from Zara and everyone else at the branch The staff were so helpful and were all smiles. Our order was obviously complicated, but staff was happy to help. The vibe reminded me of home as the music playing in the background was from home. Such a beautiful place. I am definitely coming back.

Quite off the main road, roughly 8-9 min drive by car, but the food worth it. Car parking 1 min away, 1£ for 1 hour.

We were seated fairly promptly and told how to order. Staff pleasant enough. The food arrived and our initial reaction was disappointment- portion sizes seemed small for both chicken and chips. Food tasted ok but it would have been good to have a proper portion. Overall an ok service but at £50 for two main courses and two sweets we won’t be back.

If you like to order online, type in your credit cart information like you are ordering something for delivery, get the drinks yourself at the counter and search the dips yourself just to get very average low quality food then its a good place to go. (actually no service existent. 5 Imployees standing aroind doing nothing, i dont know why they have this awfull online ordering system, they obviously have the personell to do actual service)

Rated service low, as apart from getting shown to seat. You do the rest yourself, it would take them 5 mins just to write down an order, get drink etc

They brought wrong food and the portions are awfully small. They can do better than that.

This is a decent Nandos branch, we were a couple and were seated on a big table for six in the middle, appreciate it was busy so was the only table available, but could have been moved when a smaller booth/table came available. The big table didn't allow us to enjoy a more intimate meal. Additionally, the chicken thighs were fairly dry and appeared to have been prepared a while before being served and just kept warm. But the servers were very friendly and worked well together

Went for a cheeky, midweek Nandos and chose to share a chicken and a couple of sides between the two of us. There was plenty to eat and the chicken was succulent, tasty and well presented. The team were excellent, and just the right amount of attentiveness was given. It was a bit flat because it was midweek, and the only downside would be the loos but not terribly so. Overall, a good meal out, at a not too bad price!

Typical Nando’s. Lovely food, good portions, very friendly staff, all at a fair price. Peri-peri chips are a personal favourite.

Came for lunch with my friend and was extremely disappointed with our experience. Service was slow despite it being a quiet afternoon and found that customers arriving after us received their food before we did. Once we got what we ordered there were both items missing and our food was cold and soggy as if it had been left out sitting. Strange since I have been here before and have not experienced service like this, wouldn’t go back.

Went for lunch with one of my friends and we had to wait 25 minutes for our food to be bring out despite it being completely dead. People who came in after us were served before us and received food first. When the food eventually got here the wrap was soggy because it had been sitting didn’t have half the extras I paid for , mash was solid again from being sat for so long. Wouldn’t return

was really disappointed by my chicken wrap this afternoon, usually is amazing however i had a sore belly straight after and my peri salted chips were lightly dusted just on the top and not all the way through

Burnt chicken wings only to realise when I get home. Ordered previously through delivery and it was the best wings. Maybe because I am black and happened to be the last customer so who cares.

This is the best Nandos we have ever been to, more a restaurant feel than a chain feel, great service, good atmosphere, delicious food and right by the Citadel, its always busy, our daughter is Type 1 Diabetic and they have an electronic you can scroll through to get the carb info, the staff are lovely here X

As a golden oldie, this was the first time I'd ventured into this trendy eatery, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised, guided by my daughter as to the etiquette, the chicken I had was plentiful, tasty and tender. Staff were very cheerful and helpful, I also thought it was reasonable good value for money. Needless to say 'I'll be back' 😋

Having a young child amongst our group and with it being a typically bust Saturday in Carlisle, Nando's was the only place that wasn't absolutely rammed with people. That's a giveaway in itself. We were seated quickly (a table of 7) and the concept was rushed/explained whilst a handful of our group had nipped to the loo (we'd had a long walk into town). Basically everything to be ordered on apps/websites, no actual table service available. Two of our group were older and had never been to Nando's before so this was far from ideal but no matter, saves us money on having to tip. The girl who seated us also wouldn't take any drinks orders so rather than decide over menu choices whilst having a drink, we had to order everything in a hurry by phone - not a very social experience at all. As soon as I saw the wine was provided in a can, I knew that Nando's is finished as a restaurant - I can see the chain closing most, if not all, of their in-dining establishments in the next 5 years. The food was dry and bland - not worth the £11-13 per person spent - a much better meal can be got for the same price in many other nearby restaurants. Also, a drink was accidentally spilt during our stay and one member of staff was very helpful (once prompted!) to help fetch tissue, and we then cleaned up the spillage but the tissue used to wipe the spill off the floor went from blue to absolutely black! When the floors were last mopped here, who knows! Absolutely filthy! Lots of staff available but many standing around not doing much through no fault of their own - the staff aren't given anything to do now that actual service has been abandoned by the chain. Nando's will go the way of takeaway-deliveries only in a few short years, it's clear that is the direction they are headed. That and their supermarket sauce range will make the restaurants redundant.

First time visiting and I won't be back. Overrated, overpriced rubbish. Staff friendly enough but definitely no to the food.

Overall I enjoyed my meal here. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was good and there was plenty of choice, obviously only chicken, but there were vegetarian options as well which was good. The caramel cheesecake was lovely. The only downside for me was that there are no hot drinks at all. I would have loved a hot chocolate with my dessert. Plus, the actual decor in the building, and especially up to the toilets, is very tired and in need of some attention.

If you want a good Nando’s experience Carlisle is the spot. I go here with my parents regularly & the staff are always great. Keep it up!

Busy Saturday afternoon, but we were made aware of the length of wait for a table, and our names were put in a queue. We were messaged when our table was ready. The food was nice and the staff were all helpful and polite.

Have had a couple of collection orders and had to wait longer than the promised time on both occasions. The second time was a delay of 15 minutes, despite there appearing to be plenty of kitchen staff. There isn’t anywhere suitable to wait, which means you are trying to keep out of the path of waiting staff and diners.

It's your standard south-African based, spicy sit-down chicken chain. Nothing really differentiates it from any other Nandos, but if you like nandos, you'll like this. I like nandos, and I like it. But it's not exceptional.

Terrible. Burnt chicken and not much of it. Rushed by impatient staff. The piped music was quite good. Will not be going again.

The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. Thank you. Nothing was a bother. Being gluten and dairy free. Plenty of options. I would recommend it to family and friends.
