Incredible service all night - made a Tuesday night feel like a Saturday night. The staff were incredible and were so lovely all night

Our second visit here and on a lovely day it’s a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by. Prices are reasonable and the barmaid brought our drinks to the table. I would say the clientele may vary and when we left a couple of people clearly the worse for drink arrived but they never bothered us. We enjoyed our visit.

Aye good craic nice ambience and xmas vibe going on, obviously good selection of beers etc and cocktails . Out with wife for a few very enjoyable ... They don't do food I'm sure btw

Looked far too lively for us. Too many drunks outside singing, waving arms round like they were at Glastonbury. Didnt really feel safe with young children so we didnt even venture in. Great position in the evening sun but looks dodgy. shame it is mis managed.

Great authetic Carlisle bar, the interior is amazing, nice outdoor seating with table service, staff are friendly and knowledgeable about all their product, great location for the station.

Very good bar , as I walked down the Road 50 different people tried offering to come into their bar/Club but they can’t take answer for a no , However this one didn’t ask us to come in , And we were really welcomed into this bar would give a 5 stars only the only bar you want to visit is this ! highly recommended!

I’ve been going to bar solo since moving to Carlisle about 18 months ago and have to say it’s the best bar in Carlisle. The bar itself is gorgeous and has a great atmosphere. In the summer you can sit outside and it feels quite European. There’s a drink for everyone in your group from beers to yummy cocktails and sometimes special offers in the week too. The staff are lovely and always remember regulars and just great all round. Special mention to Alan who told us all about the history of the building which was so interesting. It’s on the corner of botchergate which doesn’t have the best reputation but I can confirm that I have never witnessed any trouble in bar solo. I recommend bar solo for date nights and meeting your friends - the cosy atmosphere, lovely staff and selection of drinks make it a great place to spend an evening.

Been to this bar many times and always enjoyed the atmosphere but witnessed something appalling on Saturday night that means I will never return. A man asked another if a table eas free to which he was replied 'I don't think so' to which the mana asking the question hit the man for no reason in the face which is just crazy. The victim had blood running from his mouth and was clearly distressed. I watched as the victims party informed the manager of bar solo what had happened and he made it out to be there fault, which it blatantly wasn't. After some back and forth and dealing with this appallingly he then gets out pen and paper to take phone number of the victim. The stupid part about all of this is a) the offender is still in the bar, stood near us and getting away with it b) the doorman wasn't informed by the manager (yes there was one on) and c) no police were called at the time. I've never seen anything dealt with so poor in my entire life. When people go into they deserve to be safe and of something happens it should be dealt with in the correct manner. This was assault. Needless to say the guy who carried out the attack left and no doubt did the same elsewhere later that evening. Appalling.

A very well situated pub in the centre of Carlisle opposite the railway station . Since my last visit the toilets have been upgraded and this is an improvement as previously this let the establishment down. A good selection of beers which are well kept. Friendly staff . Not the cheapest drink but quality was good.

This is an excellent bar. The staff are so very friendly and it has a very welcoming atmosphere. Lots of lovely drinks to choose from. So handy for the Railway Station. Would thoroughly recommend. Alan and Sam were so friendly, efficient and professional. Will definitely be back at first opportunity.

The best bar in Carlisle in my opinion. Staff are always wonderful and helpful. I always look forward to returning.

Good bar and good selection of drinks.

These lot were great at serving us awesome cocktails. We had the zombie and got everything we wanted (except the fire) but tasted great nonetheless. The staff were so friendly and great to chat with. Would come again! Loved this little cocktail bar. Also loved the decor, reminded me of being in Havana Cuba, and the vibe was similar. On top of all this, they accepted well behaved dogs! Great bar!

Place not as nice as used to be. Outside tables not cleaned. Customers appear to be really young. Tonight cash only?

First visit late on a Friday night. The staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful. A very good choice of gins, where I was able to try one that was new to me. It's located at the top corner of Botchergate so perfect for watching the world go by. Located opposite the Citadel it's a great first stop off the bus or train. It's a small bar, but set out well to maximise space. It was clean and tidy too. As it was still warm we chose to sit outside, where staff checked on our needs and advised us of last orders. I am definitely going to visit again as I feel I could easily while away time relaxing here.

During an unplanned stay in Carlisle we ended up here for a few beers. We were already shattered from walking all day although the atmosphere soon took over and we were up dancing and enjoying the night! Great staff, great prices and great punters! Thanks 🚀

1st visit here won't be the last fabulous bar man was great and belongs to local band who played at Glastonbury but he didn't tell us the bar lady did he didn't brag, both were lovely to chat to. One old man was coming in with a walker they got to open the door for him. Great place

Great bar, great service, great atmosphere, warm and friendly, quality drinks (great wine!). Sadly only a fleeting visit to Carlisle, but should I return I’ll be sure to visit BarSolo. 10/10.

While I did enjoy the place I’m a bit put off in all honesty! I’m pretty sure I was recently in passing a new member of staff was asleep in the flower beds ? If it wasn’t and I’m mistaking a random party goer on a rough night then I do apologise but I’m quite certain! Very unprofessional! The atmosphere is sort of off recently? I can’t put a finger on it but I miss it, old times with the girls there were the best! Hope I can find myself back some time eventually as it is such a lovely building!

Excellent cocktails, they don’t have a menu but they could make exactly what I asked for! Their espresso martini is delicious and I also recommend the amber to sour!

We LOVE it here. Been meeting up with friends from Scotland for years here. Been quite a few times this year, afternoon drinks. It is always our last bar before running for the train lol Staff are always nice and friendly, drinks good, atmosphere and decor unique. Never tried the food. Will do one day. Fab location for chilling and watching the world go by. Love it! 😁

Me and my friend visited this place earlier this week. We were looking for a safe place to leave our luggages while visiting Carlisle city. We were advised at the train station to go to this bar so we did :-) there was absolutely amazing and very friendly staff who took our heavy bags and kept them safe. We could enjoy our city walk and later on we actually had some drinks before our train was scheduled. I seriously would like to recommend this bar not only for your luggage storage but also for drinks and having a good time there :-)

Close to our hotel this bar was a lovely place to visit especially for the Moretti We went every evening before going for a meal, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday was great as the two ladies, Kathleen and her companion lady were most helpful on service and the background music was exactly that, in the background. However on Wednesday night the two guys serving, well I say two, one was doing all the serving whilst his mate just stood behind the bar talking to his chums, he never once struck bat. What made it worse was the background music was right in your face and was "jazz" or should I say just a noise. Avoid the days when these guys are on -which was a shame as the place is really nice inside

Staff in bar are lovely people unfortunately I’ve heard multiple times from others bad experiences with the owners, few months back from who I presume worked there I heard them saying how disrespected they are made to feel it has put me off drinking at this bar because if that’s how staff are treated how will they treat their customers!

Really surprised at people moaning about perfectly smart and adequate toilets??? Try most national coffee places. Much worse. Instead, far more importantly, you get helpful friendly staff, good beer, fair pricing and thanks for our 3 top notch burgers with lovely fried potatoes as a break from boring standard chips. Visited Bar solo with friends, the ladies had expertly made cocktails and we sat outside watching the world go buy. Great location friendly attentive bar staff, reasonable prices.

Initially sceptical when I visited this bar as there were only burgers, but sat outside with a beer and watched the world go past for 45 minutes and enjoyed a very tasty burger. Good stuff.

Been past this place a few times but never actually been inside yet its always busy and buzzin inside and out when weather is good it has entertainment every now and again seems popular with all age groups

Nice little place for a cocktail with seating indoors and outside, gets very busy on Saturday nights but Fridays are just right.

I have been into Bar Solo a few times when visiting Carlisle while house hunting. It is the most lovely little bar. The staff are always very friendly. Sitting outside watching the world go by on a summers afternoon is an absolute must.Fast becoming my go to place for a quiet drink, I hope to be able to visit regularly following my move to the city.

Great place to watch the world go by. The sun sets here, so it's a great place to sit outside in the evening sun doing a bit of people watching. The interior is beautiful. Not sure if they are authentic victorian/Georgian tiles but they look it.

Fantastic little bar that me and my partner visit most weekends, we have a young cocker spaniel that is often with us. So nice to have a local bar that serves amazing food and is dog friendly!

Popped in last Sunday for lunch, had the hangover burger that is available every Sunday for those that are a little ropey from the weekend. Burger was super tasty and the patatas bravas style potatoes are a lovely alternative to chips/fries. Will definitely be back!

A good venue with interesting features Good selection on offer however you will have to battle through a swathe of doorway smokers and contend with staff petting dogs without bothering to observe basic hand-washing hygiene before attending to serve food/drinks.

Delighted to find out my favourite little bar on the corner has upped its food game... we had a cracking burger in there yesterday. Could have done with a side of sweet potato fries but can’t go wrong with beer and a burger on Super Saturday.

This is a nice little bar just over the road from the rail station serving good food and a wide drinks selection.only downside are the toilets and they are obviously short of space but worth a visit
