Food was great pre-covid. Unfortunately did not seem to be reopening anymore and phone disconnected.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos a Nancy Lam's la semana pasada para una cena de San Valentín. Hemos estado visitando a Nancy por nuestra cuenta, con nuestros hijos y con amigos durante 30 años y todavía es tan bueno como siempre. Los langostinos a la parrilla que compartimos como entrante simplemente no tienen parangón en ningún otro lugar, tan buenos que casi te miman por comerlos en otro lugar. Mi plato principal: Udang Lemak también fue bastante perfecto, al igual que el pollo Sambal de mi esposa. Estábamos demasiado llenos para el postre. Cualquiera que no haya estado en lo de Nancy debería darse prisa pronto, no estará allí para siempre.

Visited again after a decade and still as authentic and great Indonesian food.

15 years after we first tried the beef fillet rendang it still tastes as good as ever. As usual Nancy put in an appearance to make sure we were happy with the food and of course it was. Always like the food here and looking forward to going back soon.

I have always wanted to visit Nancy's restaurant and eventually got their for my wife's birthday. She did not disappoint, the food was lovingly cooked by her and it was so fresh and delicious everyone enjoyed. At the end of the meal, Nancy came and sat with us which was a great end to the evening. She did say that she was shutting up shop but didn't know when...so if your meaning to go...GO NOW !!!

Amazing customer service. We were a rowdy bunch of city workers eager to eat and drink well. What a lovely woman, we only realised she was a celebrity the next day!!! Lol, she's so humble. Thank you Nancy Lam for putting up with our drama! We'll be back to see you soon xx

All the food was great. We especially loved the BBQ prawns which were delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome. It’s a shame it will be closing soon.

Nancy is still cooking wonderful authentic Asian food here, although she is threatening to retire soon. Had a wonderful meal and hope to return before she retires!

This is wonderful Indonesian food. My family are Indonesian so I had high expectations but it totally hit the mark! The beef rendang is a must but portion quite small make sure you get one portion per person. Nancy herself who runs the joint is a cute and funny little woman full of personality. She said the guests opposite us had been coming twice a week for 40 years, amazing! We'll definitely return.

Enak Enak is always lively and fun. Everybody is warm and friendly and Nancy is unique! So sorry to hear she is retiring - Battersea will miss you Nancy.

Amazing food as always. Nancy and her family makes you feel truly welcome and it's like visiting friend at home.

This was a delightful evening with my daughter, son in law and grandson, all of whom I had brought on a previous occasion. The food was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed every mouthful and the waitress was really charming.

On a wet Wednesday evening my wife and I were the only customers. Our waitress was excellent; attentive when needed and fading unobtrusively when not. Leaving us unpressured to make our choices from the menu. The food was impressive, the battered vegetable starter is practically a meal in its own right and is light and delicious, as was the Satay. I had Beef Redang which was falling apart in my mouth but for me the real prize was the Nasi Goreng which was (for me at least) spiced to perfection. After this my wife's Pad Thai tasted a little pedestrian to me. We made the aquaintance of the restaurant owner who told us of some of the celebreties who drop in and, rather sadly for her customers, that she was retiring in December to go travelling. My wife and I will certainly fit in a couple more visits to enjoy the food and the ambience before this happens.

If the surroundings we more comfortable, it would be 5 stars all the way.

Hay algo muy especial en el calor fresco y la dulzura de las gambas a base de sambal, la profundidad del randang de carne de res cocida a fuego lento, las raciones de Nasi Padang al estilo del banquete y la increíble y sabrosa combinación de las tortitas de Indonesia Martabak Manis. La comida indonesia está al mismo nivel que la japonesa, italiana, francesa y brasileña como la mejor del mundo. Para cualquiera que se pierda las delicias de la comida indonesia, Nancy Lam es la opción más destacada en Londres y un fabuloso restaurante en sí mismo. Comenzó a venir aquí hace unos 30 años, y Nancy se convirtió rápidamente en una de las favoritas. Volviendo esta noche, tuvimos una fantástica cena de cumpleaños. Sopa de gambas Tom Yum, costillas de repuesto, gambas a la barbacoa, rendang de res, curry verde tailandés, gambas al sambal, nasi goreng y más. . . Todo maravillosamente fresco y sabroso. ¡Y Nancy sigue gobernando el gallinero en su estilo indomable! ! Sigue siendo absolutamente brillante, y tan bueno hoy como siempre. También, * gracias * a la muy generosa fiesta junto a nosotros que compartió el delicioso tiramisú que habían traído para su celebración. Completamente en armonía con el ambiente agradable y característico que siempre hemos disfrutado allí.

We travel over an hour each way to eat at Nancy’s! Always worth it. Especially as Nancy plans on retiring later this year and the opportunity won’t be available anymore. As always Nancy and her beautiful daughters look after you and ensure you feel welcomed. The food is fresh and definitely has that home cooked feel, as opposed to that heavy processed feel that many similar restaurants offer. Even the background music makes you smile as it’s all familiar tunes that provoke memories. A friendly chat with the wonderful Nancy at the end of the night is the perfect finish to the meal. I can’t recommend anything over anything else as I’ve worked my way through the menu now and absolutely love everything I’ve ever eaten. But last night the beef rendang was outstanding. Please please don’t miss the chance to visit. As once it’s gone...it’s gone!

You must come here! The food is terrific but Nancy, herself, makes the experience - what a character! Service is excellent and the place is bright, cheery and clean.

My wife myself and a friend had been there ages ago and were happy to come back. We love the food and Mancy is a wonderful host. She is a woman of class and character and the food is excellent. Highly recommended! We will be back!

Food was very tasty but the staff really made the experience - especially Nancy who was a fantastic host. We ended up speaking to her for 30 minutes before we left with sore sides from laughing!

The food was really top-notch. Utterly delicious. Us two girlfriends shared chicken satay, beef rendang, nasi goreng, withak choi on the side and a selection of 4 coconut themed desserts. All really delicious, warm spicy flavouring rather than fierce heat. And Nancy was there! Think she cooked! It felt a bit quiet which was a shame as her food is so much better than many other places of repute. Will definitely go back!

This place offers good Indonesian INSPIRED dishes. But if you are missing authentic Indonesian food, you'll be disappointed.

What a brilliant night! Nancy's pure joy! The food was delicious-the portions are a bit on the small side but really tasty. The service was wonderful. Loved hearing Nancy's anecdotes. Pity she'll be closing up soon. I'd strongly advise anyone to have a dining experience there asap before she leaves. Good luck in your new adventures Nancy!

It was ok. Owner was a funny lady and made us laugh. Good night out, but at first I think we were enjoying the night too much as we were told nicely to be a little less loud. 😂😂

London Rendang Quest The restaurant was relatively quiet for a Saturday. Staff friendly and attentive. The rendang was very tasty with a thick rich and creamy. On the down side it was too mild, however when asked for some hot sambal which when it arrived was divine. Hot flavourful and a superb boost, (I commented to that effect). When leaving I was given a small tub which was a nice surprise. We also had a sizzling lamb dish and a gado gado both very good. Overall a good experience. Try it out if in the area.

All of us had a really great time. Nancy was a wonderful hostess and the food was great. Hope to rebook another visit.

Decent tasting but not good value portions as are small.

I was treated to a pre birthday meal there by my daughter and son in law. The whole experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Nancy Lam gave us a warm welcome and made us feel special. She has a brilliant sense of humour all of which contributed to making this a very happy evening to remember. We chose a selection of dishes across the range all of which were perfect. It really was the most enjoyable meal I have had out in ages. There will be many heart broken residents of the area and regulars who travel far to experience this wonderful gem of a restaurant as Nancy says she will be retiring at the end of the year. Well worth making a special effort to go there before she closes. A big thank you to you Nancy and to your smiling daughter who also looked after us.

I first went to Nancy Lams 15 years ago for our first wedding anniversary, it was brilliant then andI am so pleased it has not changed a bit. Food was/is amazing, very authentic. Service is friendly and professional, and great fun. It is well worth the trip for amazing food in a family environment...One of my favourites restaurants.

Woah. Just superb, so good in fact we went back for seconds on the same day. also Nancy is a real character and because they are closing soon so everyone should go before they close.

Very tricky to write a review about this place as it lives on Nancy's character and on some fairly authentic dishes. The place is self feels a bit rundown and service was slow too. The dinners on the evening seemed to be mainly regulars. Some dishes are good enough for London where (unlike other ethnic food) you dont find too many well executed authentic Indonesian/Malay dishes. Why she adds Thai dishes in the menu is beyond me. Nancy herself is a character which makes the visit quite entertaining. Would I travel across town for it? No.

Have been going to Nancy's for probably around 30 years. Great food - always delivers excellent flavours and quality Nancy as everyone knows is a 'genial' host!! Ben cooks the food wonderfully well and the girls look after you at the table (Nancy too on occasions) Well worth a visit.

From the outside it's deceiving, the food is amazing definitely going back! Thai green curry is to die for, and hot sour soup is the best I've tried..... definitely going back

Lavender Hill old stager still expertly managed by eponymous chef. Great food, excellent wine list. Ambience still firmly anchored in the late 1980's but that was perfect for this example of Gen X.

I used to watch Nancy on TV with my family back in the day. Her personality was vibrant, and her food always looked delicious! It's fair to say, that I was rather disappointed with my dining experience. We didn't feel very welcomed to begin with due to the long awkward silences when being served by Nancy herself! The food size was small and though the main was quite tasty, everything else was pretty average - like a standard takeaway from a random Thai place. I would have loved to make this place a regular as it's very near to our location, but we won't be returning.

Forget this review by MJP1971. I read this exact same review with same comments in 2016. As a regular visitor to this fabulous restaurant I figure its just an attempt to rubbish this place in favour of another! Trust me, this is the best and most authentic Nonya style restaurant outside Singapore. I've always loved the Chicken Satay and the Rendang but the Prawns are to die for. Price? Worth every penny! Don't be put off by one lousy review... I'm with ALL the other folks!!

Friendly service but thought it was expensive for what it was. Feels dated.

The food was delicious and Nancy Lam is hilarious. Despite her age Nancy told us she still acts as front of house every night. She entertained us with anecdotes and cooking advice, punctuated with lots of swearing which, when delivered in her endearing south East Asian accent, sounds funny rather than rude. We enjoyed the mixed satay, beef redang and a nasi goreng. Can't wait to go again.

We were visiting our daughter in London to celebrate her birthday. Being reasonably new to the area we randomly chose 'Nancy Lams' as the place to try. Oh my did we strike lucky 👍 Greeted by Nancy at the door, we were guided to our table with some friendly welcoming banter. The layout is simple but clean and well presented. We chose mixed satay for starters, two dishes for five of us was just enough to wet our appetite, this was accompanied by crackers and dips (a gift from Nancy) For the main course we chose a selection of dishes to share, Beef rendang, green Thai chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sizzling beef etc with noodles and coconut rice. All beautifully presented with exquisite and unique tastes. All pastes are made in house accompanied with home grown vegetables and spices. For dessert coconut pancakes with homemade sorbet rounded off a wonderful evening. Nancy worked with her daughter Yangtze front of house for the evening. Full attention was paid to every detail to ensure our evening was positively memorable The walls are adorned with photographs of celebrities that have dined here over the years, and the fact that Nancy has been in this one restaurant for 31 years speaks volumes for her reputation. Thoroughly recommend and yes we will return

Nancy Lamm is an original, very sweet and funny and she will welcome you to her restaurant where you will enjoy authentic delicious Indonesian/Singaporean cuisine. Great flavors and reasonable prices. Very cute and fun.

My partner and I booked a table last minute at Nancy Lam’s as it had been recommended on trip advisor and, following a trip to Bali, we fell in love with Indonesian food. We weren’t disappointed - we chose the chilli beef, chicken with cashew nuts and coconut rice. All well cooked with excellent flavours. The highlight for me though was the dessert - the banana fritters were some of the best I’ve had and the salted caramel ice cream (which they make in house) was superb! On top of that, the service was great. They weren’t too busy that night but Nancy came to chat to us and was so friendly - it made us feel so welcome, even though it was only our first visit. Will be sure to go back there - a good local restaurant with a relaxed vibe.

Amazing food. Nancy is full of character. One of the best restaurants in London, beef randang, pak choi, coconut rice, cashew chicken, so so delicious.

Service was slow and we got our food really late. We came in when threes only two customers in the restaurant. The waiter took our order then another couple turn up and they got their food first. Our grandchildren ere really hungry but when the food turn up; it's all blend and less than ordinary. Also; with the high bill; they really not value for money. We certainly not coming back there!

Been meaning to come for ages and have read some amazing reviews so perhaps was expecting a little more but it was just fine, nothing more. Food was ok. I enjoyed the tempura veg starter more than my main. It was a spicy chicken dish that just lacked a punch of flavour and the chicken was a little slimy. My friends seemed to enjoy their dishes a bit more. <br /><br />White wine was decent and well priced and the service was friendly and prompt. <br /><br />It was surprisingly quiet for a Friday evening and there was no sign of Nancy so perhaps on a busier evening the ambience would have been better. It&#039;s a simple, honest place so if you are looking for somewhere trendy or high end this is not the place for you.

After the great coverage we were extremely disappointed with this place. The owner's daughters serve the food and I have never come across ruder or more bad-tempered staff. On waiting 55 minutes between our starters and mains, when we mentioned it politely, the riposte was: "This isn't fast food - so what do you want to do about it? Do you want it or not?" In a busy restaurant I understand waiting times might be extended, but we arrived half an hour before anyone else and it was still less than half full by the time our main dishes arrived. The food itself was sadly bland and not even hot - nothing like the great food we love from that part of the world. They couldn't have done any more to a ruin our evening. Utter waste of time and money

We were a family of 5 persons and everybody was satisfied by the dishes and by Nancy and her daughter. Very nice people. Nancy was so friendly with us.

Increíble menú fijo ciego, el chef preparado cuál es el platos frescos del día, pero al mismo tiempo muy complaciente como uno de nosotros era vegetariana. Vimos todos los programas en vivo por el anfitrión en YouTube ya, pero no logró recrear el mismo favor en mi cocina. Volveré pronto.

Absolutely amazing food and lovely service, hugely recommend!

We have had the pleasure of having Nancy every time I have visited. She brings a great warmth and pleasure to the dinning experience. It is by far one of the best places for Indonesian and South East Asian cuisine. Everything is fresh and delightful. Recommend it for vegetarian, groups, romantic or just causal evenings.

Thus was our 2nd visit to Nancys restaurant as I was a HUGE fan of the shows she and Ben did on the tv years ago (This is now our &quot;Go-to&quot; restaurant whenever we&#039;re in London now)<br />The front of house are Nancys 2 daughters who greet u with the widest smiles as u arrive and are ALWAYS on hand to answer any questions u may have.<br />Whilst the menu is not the largest I&#039;ve ever seen,it covers all the bases (there was 6 of us this visit,so we just got a selection of starters and 6 various dishes with coconut rice)<br />DELICIOUS<br />Some of our group hadn&#039;t been before and Nancy was more than happy to pose for photos with them <br />I think we were about the £200 mark for everything including drinks which I think is TREMENDOUS value for London. <br />I CANT recommend this restaurant highly enough and will be booking the next time we&#039;re back in London. <br />Thanks Nancy. Vine aquí para cenar con un amigo en un capricho en una noche de sábado. . . . De haberlo hecho así! Yo tenía la intención de probar el lugar para las edades! ¿Qué puedo decir? La comida fue absolutamente deliciosa! Tuvimos el satay y verduras mezcladas con mantequilla para entrante - que eran acompañados con salsa de cacahuate casero fantástico de Nancy. Para el plato principal nos decidimos por el cerdo dulce y agria y la famosa ternera rendang acompañados por pak choi y arroz de coco - que no me decepcionó! Que terminó con el mango magnífico sorbete casero que era el remate perfecto para una comida excelente y altamente memorable. Nancy es una absoluta delicia y realmente hace todo lo posible para atenderle! Muchas gracias, volveremos pronto!

Food was really delicious, prawns super fresh and tasteful, chicken soft and crispy at the same time. Service was very friendly but very slow. We waited almost one hour for food although the restaurant was half full, but I must say it was worth to wait. I loved it. The owner is very funny and adds an additional value to the place as well. Price is medium/high as portions are not huge, but you're definitely paying quality here. If you want to eat 1kg of chicken for 6 pounds go to KFC!

Date night with wife couldn&#039;t have been more fun. With Nancy in the house we felt special warmth. The food is fab and the decor is Indonesian enough. Gado gado was as always a hit and plenty of vegetarian options to satisfy the diet restrictions one might have.
