Namak Mandi in Glasgow City

Jaffa is an excellent host. The food is authentic and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are huge. Fortunately they give you the option to take home the leftovers. Ambience is lovely and the staff are very kind and friendly. Service is a little slow as food can take a while, however the wait is usually worth it.

This is by far the best Pakistani-Afghani-Indian restaurant in Glasgow and probably in Scotland. We went to have dinner and can’t believe how friendly and hospitable the staff were. The waiting manager came out and shock our hands with a nice and genuine smile on his face and ushered us to a table. The owner humbly took 5 minutes of his precious time explaining the background of the restaurant and was interested in knowing how our experience has been in Namadi. We had Chapli kebab and kabuli pulao which were really tasty and affordable.

Very good food. Kabuli Pulao is a must try item from an extensive menu promising a fantastic culinary experience. A must try place if you are in the area.

Namak Mandi is a delightful restaurant that truly captures the essence of traditional South Asian cuisine. I went in for a dinner with my wife and it was one of the worst food we ever had. The karahi we added was so poorly cooked. The ingredients were so poorly cooked it literally caused blisters in mouth. And that Chai . Alas if some chai lover ever had to have that tea. Worst poorly cooked.

I had undoubtedly one of the best meals of my life at Namak Mandi in Glasgow. Apart from food, the ambiance and service also matters to me a lot. I cannot remember giving any restaurant 5 starts on both! Namak Mandi outdone themselves at providing the best and most polite service I have received in years! Our server was a very fine gentleman called Jaffa and he explained in detail the background of the food we ordered! The ambiance is an other 5 starts because the music was very nice and soft and most importantly, at the absolutely right volume. We could actually hear the conversation we were having and other guests were also very considerate to maintain the ambiance posh and quiet. Food was outstanding in taste and portions were just right for the price. Compared to London, the prices were very reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of my time spent at Namak Mandi. Will definitely visit again.

This place serves halal muslim food. Great ambience. The guy running the resturant looks reasonable and welcoming. I was staying near by and ordered the food before arriving to reduce the waiting time. The guy was recommending to order once you reach the resturant in order to avoid food to be cold. Food was really good. Near to authentic taste.

Hello dear customer please don’t go there time and money wasted.

The food was good, but the service was extremely disappointing. We were treated as if we were dining for free, with staff speaking in Hindi—assuming I wouldn’t understand—and laughing among themselves and making comments pointing us which came across as very rude. When we asked if they had garlic mayonnaise, they said yes, but then served us refrigerated, store-bought egg mayonnaise instead. We also had to ask three times just to get a takeaway box for our leftovers. Overall, it was a very poor experience. Having been in Scotland for years, I’ve never felt this level of discrimination in a restaurant before.

Me saying that Namak Mandi was aesthetically fabulous and food was deliciously praiseworthy would be a massive understatement. Interior was peshawari afghani style and very much grand royale. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough. If you ever find yourself in Glasgow and craving for Indian pakistani food, namak mandi is the perfect place to go to. Prices are reasonable, portions are huge and food taste was out of this world. We had charsi chicken karahi with garlic naan, kabuli pulao (lamb) and mandi chicken along with mango lassi. Also got chicken biryani packed to go as we were too full to eat it there. Planning to try chapli kebab next time. Highly recommended must visit place.

While I’m travelling to Glasgow I search on google about best Mandhi in Glasgow, I got Namak mandi and I t was 🔥🔥. And also the services and food selection from Mohammed is 🔥🔥🔥 This guy very valuable person for your business And also the service from jaffa is outstanding. Anyway big thanks to this 2 peoples and as well for the kitchen team who prepared the food for us Thanks Namak Mandhi for tonight

Brilliant food and great staff. Loved every minute of our visit! Jaffa was very kind and knowledgeable. One less star for atmosphere because it was a wee bit chilly. Sure it would be warmer on a weekend with more people inside but everything else perfect 🙂

rudest staff i’ve ever encountered. owner owns a spar around the corner. those staff are the worst. based of the people the owner picks, i can guarantee the food and service is horrible aswell. I would rethink your choices in staff, their attitude stinks. especially the indian man in the shop with the old white man to assist him

The service was incredible, we were so well looked after by Jaffa who was a tremendous host and ambassador for the restaurant. The food was delicious, with generous portions. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough Can’t wait to be back!

Tasteless food kebab had no taste at all we ordered Nan bread and we couldn't differentiate either that were Nan bread or chappati and were completely burnt with zero customer service even didn't respond to the messages.

Overpiced for what it is, avoid if you can.

Update 01/11/2024 First time went to get a takeaway after they shifted to their new premises. This place has become way overpriced. City center prices for renovating a much cheaper rundown premise. For example I remember having their chapali kebab platter for £8 which is now £17. Same goes for their ridiculous prices for their charsi Karahi . I know prices have increased but this is ridiculous. For comparison the chapali kebab and charsi karahi at Original Khyber in Shawlands is near identical in taste and both these places started off with the same prices. Chapali kebab platter (3 kebabs and 2 naans) is £12 at Shawlands and the chicken karahi is £11. And since I have been going to both places since the past 6 years I can safely say both places are near identical in taste. These guys want to quickly recoup the money for shifting to a larger place. A better tasting and cheaper alternative is Charcoals near merchant city who even provide free food to the homeless. Due to the above I simply walked out of the place when placing my takeaway order at their counter!

This place 11/10. I ordered the Lamb Charsi Karahi and the Chapli and it was one of the most tastiest dishes I’ve ever had. The Lamb in the Karahi was nice and tender. The Chapli was so crispy I loved it. Not only the food was the great the service and staff was amazing. Jaffar was phenomenal. He was such a nice guy. Definitely going back and recommend this to all!

My friend and I had an amazing experience tonight, by far one of our best meals we have ever had. All dishes were very tasty, elaborate yet not heavy on the stomach. I cannot wait to go back and present the restaurant to more people. The warm atmosphere and all staff also made this experience so pleasant. A special thanks to the waiter Jafaf who was such a lovely soul who recommended us great dishes and hosted us with his whole heart. Thank you again great experience I highly recommend!

Honestly if I could give 10 stars I would. If you are looking for somewhere with quality food and exceptional customer service this place ticks every box. Our waiter Jaffa definitely took our experience to the next level- we went for a family birthday meal and the food did not disappoint- good portion sizes and everything was so fresh. Will definitely return!

I tried pakistani traditional food for the first time ! I odered chicken mandi that was sooo good! i had such warm welcome from muhammad I recommend this place and i will be sure back

Went there with my friend for dinner ,My friend ordered chapli kebab and I ordered Kabuli Pilau, The Kabuli pilau was ok but as soon as we came out of the restaurant,my friend was rushing to the toilet because the chapli kebab meat was old and they didn’t cooked it properly as well. The naan was grill made naan,(not tandoori naan).The staff was nice but they should work on the food quality as it’s the main thing for the restaurant.

I had some work in Glasgow and someone had recommended Namak Mandi to me. I was hungry and even though my kids were in pyjamas and we were ready to go back home I decided to go in Namak Mandi. What a decision it was. It is a gem in Glasgow. When I go to Pakistan I always have Chapli kebabs and love them, the kebabs I ate here were the best I’ve had in the UK. They were so good and reminded me of the Peshawar streets. You could taste all the ingredients of the kebab and the aroma was so nice. It is so highly recommended from my side. We also ordered charsi chicken karahi and that was brilliant. Everything was so nice and a special thank you to Shahzaib for his brilliant service and the chef that personally came to the tables to make sure everyone was happy which was really nice. I highly recommend Namak Mandi and thank you so much again, looking forward to coming back again.

The Restaurant was gorgeous! Jaffa our server was the Best! Today is our first day in Scotland and he gave us a warm welcome. He did a wonderful job at explaining the menu and asked the chef to reduce the spice for me & my sister. We so enjoyed meeting the chef. We ordered Dam Pukht, best dish we have had on our UK vacation.

Hawa was our waiter and she was lovely. She tried her best to make sure the service was on point. Food was not as good as the original namak mandi. I asked for the biryani to be medium-spicy but it was very mild. I sent it back and asked for little bit more spiciness but they made it too hot and I could not eat it.

Shhhh, I don't really want to tell anyone about this place as I find it so excellent. A safe haven in the city centre. The food is fresh and tasty, the staff kind, the music unobtrusive and the atmosphere safe and chill. 10/10 for me. Also, bonus, many of the dishes are celiac safe.

Would HIGHLY recommend. Stopped in for their lunch buffet after getting this as a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the server was very attentive, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.

I had a lovely meal here with family, We were welcomed warmly at reception and let to the main restaurant hall. Decoration is very nice and unique warm environment. Our waiter recommended some dishes which were well cooked, full of flavour with the meat melting in the mouth. To top off the food and environment our waitress Hwazen, was very welcoming, had great manners, made us feel relaxed, without her our evening wouldn't have been quite the same.

It was clear from the outset that the staff here are highly attentive, ensuring that I was comfortable and settled in. Than Mr. Jaffar introduced himself and He had a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making thoughtful recommendations from the menu without being overbearing. Throughout the meal, he checked in at just the right moments—never too frequent, yet always there when I needed something. What stood out most was his attention to detail. When the meal concluded, I was once again thanked genuinely for my visit, making me feel appreciated as a guest. It wasn’t just the food that made the experience memorable but the incredible hospitality that made me want to return. Their team created a welcoming, enjoyable, and personable atmosphere, which is hard to come by and even harder to forget. This restaurant truly shines, not just in its cuisine but in the unparalleled service that makes every guest feel valued.

How this place has nosedived since we last visited them at their old location. Lunch buffet... what a joke it was. Luke warm dishes almost empty and not being topped up. Desserts are thrown on a side table which means they don't stay cold. Service very slow. Will not be back again!!

I went for a sister date and we loved it! The staff are all so friendly and hospitable it gives off family vibes which we loved. We got the mixed grill and it was so gooood!!!! I would highly recommend. If you come to Glasgow this should be first on your list to try.

Went there for lunch last weekend. Really disappointed by the service, it took so long to get the lunch menu. Foods didn’t taste fresh, overly priced, poor service. Heard good reviews about it hence the visit but really disappointed. Do not recommend!

An honest review from my visit an hour ago , I wanted to have a warm and healthy dinner specially in this chilly weather so went for the paya with roghan naan , must say it was specially and carefully made , the moderated spice level and a hot bowl of payaa made a cozy end to my day . What stood apart was the service , it was honouring to have the head chef Mr. Hamid specially to my table and share his wonderful and enlightening words . Truly respect that ! Jafar , made sure I was happy every second as well ! The restaurant felt especially special with soothing music and neat cutlery and well prepared table .
