Nam Shan in Kirklees

Nam Shan is the best Chinese place, we used to use them years ago in honley and was gutted when they moved but then we found out where they was and that they delivered to us in Meltham. Always see recommendations for them on Facebook, food always fresh and tasty. Thanks as always from us! X

If i could leave 0 would we put an order no pre warning of delays phoned an hour later i called up to see where my order was. I was told there is min 2 hour wait. So i said another hour then someone snatched the phone and was very rude told me 2hours for my order min or cancel no apologies nothing just very passive aggressive for a 40gbp order wonder if tax man knows its cash only and family working... Very rude you have lost us as customers.

I wish I could rate higher than 5*!! The service was outstanding! They called us twice to keep us updated on our order. Once to say the estimated wait time will be halved what they originally said and the second to make us aware the driver had left the takeaway. All the food was piping hot and tasted outstanding!! By far the best Chinese around and in fact the best Chinese we’ve ever eaten!! Honestly do not order from anywhere else!

I wish I could give less than 1 star for their service. The owner is damn rude and doesn't know one bit how to attend to her customers. I'd never recommend this place to anyone.

There is never a bad meal. The service and the food are always outstanding.

I enjoyed what i had very tasty, nothing too special just chicken fried rice but very nice.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! I placed an order at 5pm, I was told on the phone it would be here within 45 minutes 1 hour 30 passed and I called up they said it was on the way, 2 hours later we called again and got told again it was on the way, 3 hours later still no sign of the order the lady on the phone rudely told us the order had gone missing and did not have the curtesy to ring us and inform us of this, we was left starving. Wound not recommend!!

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS SERVICE! I have just tried ordering my first Chinese takeaway since arriving back in the UK, from visiting my wife Ming Li in her hometown of Hong Kong. I was recommended ‘Nam Shan’ by someone who must have disliked me and wanted me to have the runs because I haven’t been off the bloody toilet for the last 14 hours. Excellent tasty food. Huge portions. Not cheap but lovely and enough leftovers for a other meal which evened out the pricing. Not my first visit and certainly not my last.

Prices have gone up a lot but the quality has gone down hill. Chicken with cashewnut in yellow bean sauce was just chicken, nuts and lots of onion..... no green peppers and lacked taste. Salt and pepper chicken is now so spicy its unbearable so not sure what happened to it as it used to be really tasty. A simple thing such as egg fried rice but no sign of egg? Missing ingredients but paying more? Come on sort yourselves out .... your going to lose a regular customer! Our regular meals have gone from £25 ish to over £35

Best Chinese in Huddersfield been ordering from here for years never had a bad meal

The staff were great, but the food was very poor and bland.

Ordered last night for Mother’s Day. Took two hours which we would say it’s fair considering the day. The prawns smelled funny and the and the other dishes ended up in the bin. We have ordered loads from them in the past but was disappointed this time. Previous it’s been perfect.

This place is hit and miss… For one they are mostly better than other Chinese restaurants in the area but also very expensive but that seems to be the case with all of them. Their delivery service is unreliable can ask you to wait for over one hour then say its not coming at all. Clearly cutting down, possibly not paying decent enough to keep drivers. Restaurants reception is freezing cold. Also hate the child taking orders as she always makes mistakes.

Foods expensive and the wait is even worse! 2 hours for a delivery is Absolutely shocking and when asked if we could pick it up it would still be 2 hours 🤨

Wrong order, rude staff avoid here

The 2 stars are for the price. Extremely expensive for a takeaway. Nice food , but the one I usually go to is just as nice and at least £20 cheaper for exactly the same order. Which is a massive difference. I only went to Nam Shan because the others were on holiday and I used to go to Nam Shan when they were in Honley many years ago. They didn’t shred the duck for the duck pancakes and the sweet and sour chicken balls were not chicken balls at all, but tiny pieces of very chewy chicken, mainly batter mixed in with vegetables and sauce. We prefer chicken balls to come seoeratepy to the sweet and sour sauce.

For a Chinese takeaway, I give it 5 Stars for the starters and main courses that I ordered while passing through. Very tasty and very good quality throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I will use them again. Thank you!

We have ordered our food and was told 1 hr. We phoned them when it was 1 hour 40 mins they said it will be 20 to 30 mins if you dint like it cancel your order. Then hung up on us now not answering too us

This is the vilest buisness owner I've ever had dealings with!! Ordered our food at 5 50 told 1 hr for delervy. Called then at 7 30 to ask for an ETA to be told it would be another 30 mins maybe longer!! Then I was told just cancle your order then she put the phone down on me.i called back it rang and rang didnt answer I called back 22 times to see wether my order would be delivered or not I finally got through to be told she no longer wanted my buisnes and put the phone down on me after calling from my sons phone as she wouldnt answer on my phone number absolutely disgusting I could have collected my order if I'd been told I'd be waiting over 2 and a half hr for my order !! Wont ever use again!

Heard really good reviews about this place so decided to go out of our way to try. Food was OK but wasn't as great as some make out. Wasn't good enough to make a return as I've closer Chinese takeaways to me.

Love this place BUT there curry sauce used to be beautiful but the last couple of times it's been really watery for some reason 🤷‍♀️

We rang to place a order tonight which included a portion of prawn crackers, the Mrs always had some but sometimes they come overcooked so we explained that we would like them cooked correctly to which we was told that although they fry them in house it was down to the supplier which made no Sense at all, after explaining that being overcooked is down to them frying them too long we was told to order our food elsewhere because we had asked for the prawn crackers to be cooked correctly and not overcooked

No respect for customer as ask to wait an hour to collect with long wait in the phone. Kid working there messing the order

Perfect! The best chinese takeaway I've ever ordered from hands down. The person on the phone was lovely as was the delivery person, very polite and friendly. The food was georgous, not only was it good quality (which some takeaways fail at) it was delicious and the chef(s) really know what they're doing. Their expected delivery time was good and they were even quicker which is a bonus when you're hungry! Can't recommend this place enough.

Nam Shan will be our new go to Chinese takeaway. Started ordering from here as our last Chinese takeaway we used to order from went down the pan. Would definitely recommend, all the food we have ordered has been cooked really nice, you can tell love goes into the cooking. You won' be disappointed :-)

Tasty, but I do find it rather expensive compared to others of the same quality who offer free basic side dishes such as rice or chips with their mains.

Ordered food here several times and absolutely love it! Delicious dishes at a reasonable price with a wide range of choices. Highly recommend peking chicken wings, spare ribs in OK sauce and Singapore vermicelli.

I like very much most of the time. Sometimes I think they may have an off day. But the food is always nice. Just not fantastic sometimes. The lady at front of house is always friendly and inviting. Sometimes I don't think they can cope with amount of orders coming in and they get a back log. Waiting times can get a little long. Would highly recommend you get the prawn toast. It had always been the best around.

I'm not new to Chinese food and after reading the reviews I thought I would give it a go. Let's face it chinese takeaways are a past time. Ordered two different beef dishes one was a fillet steak dish. Both had the texture of an old 18th century boot. Please can't you use fresh beef. It was dreadful. Plain noodles saved the whole meal. Sorry chaps but it's true.!

Was visiting the area as I was entertaining at crosland moor Wmc for the evening and hadn't had my tea. I went here and ordered Singapore vermicelli- a dish I often order around my local area in Manchester and it is the best vermicelli I've tasted in a long time. Absolutely spot on- I'm enjoying the leftovers now and it's still amazing. So tasty and authentic! To top it off I got a free starter included as an incentive to go again and it was also amazing, chicken and sweet corn samosa/wonton DELICIOUS! - unfortunately I don't live in the area but I made sure to recommend Nam Shan to the whole audience in the WMC whilst I was on stage!

Clearly a very new business and not really prepared for anything happening. A promised 15 minute collection time turned out to be 40 minutes. We'd been in there ten minutes before anyone even appeared at the counter. However, the proprietor was absolutely charming, enormously apologetic and threw in lots of freebies for all the people who had to wait much longer than they'd expected. But it was so worth it. This was by a long way the best Chinese food we've had in years. Hopefully they'll get some more staff and the service will improve but for a new starter it's got to be 10/10. Great effort by the lady at the counter, absolutely the best food. Good luck to you, we'll be back for more.
