This place is so cute! I love Vietnamese food and saw this place and it had great reviews. It did not disappoint, the food was amazing and the service is was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and the restaurant has such a comforting atmosphere with beautiful art. I recommend the friend spring rolls and noodle bowl! You should make a reservation.

i’ve lived in edinburgh and london and between the two places this was one of the most delicious meals i’ve had out omg. i’m vegan i had the tofu pho (if you don’t eat meat then specify this because the default broth is meat based) and also tried the lotus leaf sticky rice and tofu. both were amazing. both the cocktails were also incredible (the lychee margarita and the lemongrass mojito). highly recommend

I have been eating regularly at Nam for 4 years or so now and it is my go to stop for divine food with simply amazing flavour. All the staff are so friendly and chatty and it’s just a must visit. Crispy rolls are better than those in Vietnam and the Pho 🍜 is a dish of deliciousness to savour. If you are lucky enough to be in Edinburgh go give it a go, you will love it

A hidden gem, hadn’t been before and definitely will be back. Food tastes so fresh and full of flavour. We shared the fresh spring rolls and had warm noodle salad with bbq pork and the ginger chicken with rice. Loads of food, no complaints on any of the food and we left nicely stuffed. The staff are really cheery and helpful, they know the dishes well if you’re unsure what to have.

My partner and I visited this place and ordered two chicken fried rice dishes, each costing £15. We expected the portions to be small, but they were actually huge! We had a hard time finishing our meals, so we ended up taking the leftovers home, which was great. The taste was a bit on the dry side, though. Also, I was surprised to find mushrooms in the chicken fried rice since that's not something I'm used to. Just a heads-up—they do charge a service fee, which it would have been nice to know about before ordering.

Been here a fewer times last two years, was very happy with their Pho at the beginning, but it really has gone downhill. Besides soup, noddles n beef, there were no more topping like the very basic bean sprouts, only spring onions. The soup’s quality has also gone downhill a bit. Doesn’t worth the price. It’s still a bowl of acceptable soup noodles in UK, as the standard of food in this country is generally so low.

The fresh spring rolls were tasty and the sauce that came with a great match (but the sauce with the fish sauce was sadly absent). We both had beef pho and the meat was tender, but unfortunately not rare, which I overheard that they can't do, this maybe doesn't need to be the case! The pho was tasty and had a rich beef stock taste, but not the tastiest I've had! Would come back again!

I'm a Vietnamese American whose immediate and extended family has owned restaurants, and I can't rave enough about this place. I popped by for dinner and had some of the best beef pho I have ever had in my life. The chef is absolutely *lovely*, the place feels cozy yet classy, and the service was attentive but didn't hover too much. And they even had Vietnamese beers available! Amazing! I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Vietnamese cuisine. Thanks so much to the folks at Nam for an excellent meal and memory. Eating at Nam made my trip to Edinburgh extra special.

NAM Vietnamese Restaurant, a charming eatery nestled just a stone’s throw away from Haymarket Railway Station, is leading the charge. With its unassuming facade and intimate seating (around 35-40 people), NAM transports diners to the heart of Vietnam. Here, authenticity reigns supreme. At NAM, the kitchen doesn’t compromise on authenticity. The chefs draw inspiration from family recipes passed down through generations, very dish reflects the essence of its origin. The cosy interior of NAM invites you to linger. Although narrow, the use of the large wall mirror makes the space feel brighter and larger. The Gio Cuon spring rolls, filled with chicken and prawn, offer a delicate balance of tastes. The tender chicken brings a savoury note, while the sweet and briny prawns add a seafood freshness. Crisp vegetables and fragrant herbs complete the ensemble, creating a refreshing blend of textures. The light rice paper wrapper provides a satisfying chewiness, perfectly complementing the filling. Dip them in the tangy, slightly sweet sauce for a harmonious experience. The Cha Gio fried spring rolls with minced pork are equally enticing. Each bite reveals umami richness from the pork, expertly balanced with hints of garlic, mushroom, and the saltiness of dried shrimp. The crispy exterior yields to a savoury filling, leaving you craving more. It’s a symphony of flavours—deeply satisfying and slightly salty. At £9.90, Banh Mi is a substantial meal in itself. No need to order anything else—the generous portions will leave you fully satisfied. As you take your first bite, the sweet and savoury notes of the BBQ pork (or chicken) dance on your palate. But that’s just the beginning. The freshness of shredded lettuce and fragrant coriander provides a delightful contrast to the rich meat. Each bite balances the hearty flavours, creating a harmonious blend. A touch of sriracha sauce adds a slow, fiery heat that ignites the back of your palate. It’s the perfect complement to the succulent meat and fresh greens. Cooling things down, the creamy mayo sauce balances the overall flavour profile. Creaminess meets spice, creating a well-rounded experience. Beef Pho is more than a soup—it’s an umami-rich experience that warms your soul. Whether you’re savouring Banh Mi or slurping up Beef Pho, Vietnamese cuisine offers layers of textures and aromas that leave a lasting impression. Thit Kho Tau (£14.90) is a Vietnamese culinary gem that deserves a spotlight. Imagine tender chunks of pork belly, slowly braised in a caramel sauce infused with spices, and served alongside red onion and rice. Thit Kho Tau is all about patience. The pork belly undergoes a slow cooking process, allowing it to absorb the rich flavours of its surroundings. The restaurant exudes a laid-back, student-friendly vibe. Couples, friends, and families all find their place here. Dishes arrive promptly, and the service is friendly. However, my only quibble? The wooden chopsticks. While cleaned diligently, I’d prefer disposable ones for hygiene. Vietnamese cuisine weaves together sweet, salty, sour, and spicy elements. All these dishes embody this delightful fusion, leaving a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to indulge. Next time you’re at a Vietnamese eatery, don’t miss out on any of these dishes - it’s a journey worth taking! One of the best meals we had during our time in Scotland. The pho was so flavorful and hearty, the spring rolls were fresh and delicious, and the fried rice was our absolute favorite of the night. The staff went out of their way to accommodate for food allergies and our toddler’s tastes and were so kind. They do a great job with gluten free options, just make sure to double check when the food comes to the table since some of the sauces (peanut sauce specifically for our order) should be avoided for those with a gluten allergy.

Absolutely amazing fried pork spring rolls, some of the best I've had! I don't know what was done to the skin but woo lala, just delightful~ The beef & beef balls pho was so good I downed the whole massive bowl of soup which I never do normally. For decades, I've always had pho noodles with hoisin sauce but that was not necessary here because the broth was just so flavorful. Beautiful! Not to exaggerate but I felt genuinely happy to be alive as I was enjoying all the food we ordered. This place is even better than SEN which I frequent. Out of the 6 Vietnamese restaurants I've tried in Edinburgh, this is the clear winner 🏆 I like Vietnamese food so eat it around the world almost everywhere I go and this place has got me wanting to come back for more... Been back since plus ordered on UberEATS. Lotus wrap sticky rice was amazing. Pork belly also fantastic. Bun with barbecue pork - just wow!! Loved the pork in the bánh mì but the bread was too hard for me. Might seem pricey for Vietnamese food but big portions and great food every time which really is the most important thing! The red velvet cake on Valentine's Day was so sooo good! There are a lot of restaurants in Edinburgh with average or below food, forcing me to cook at home most days, but this restaurant has restored my faith lol... This might be my favorite now.

We had a takeaway in Nov, 24. Cost us £63. It was awful. Sorry, but that is the truth. The Mangsho Roti at £16.95 was inedible. Very bitter and sour. It went in the bin. The chicken pasanda was tasteless. It too went in the bin. We will not be buying anything from here again.

Or son enjoyed it but not somewhere I'd go with a group of adult friends. Food was nice if you have sweet tooth but expensive for what it was. Thought the discretionary £22 service charge for three of us was a little cheeky too (especially as people's plates were cleared when others were still eating at the table 😶).
