Or son enjoyed it but not somewhere I'd go with a group of adult friends. Food was nice if you have sweet tooth but expensive for what it was. Thought the discretionary £22 service charge for three of us was a little cheeky too (especially as people's plates were cleared when others were still eating at the table 😶).

We came to Duck and Waffle to celebrate with my family. As we were a large group, they allowed us to use the whiskey room after reserving with a deposit. The restaurant is just located outside/ near to the entrance to the shopping centre and has a great atmosphere with the lights and open whisky bar. The whisky room is great with a TV that can be linked to phone to show pictures. The only negative about the private whisky room was that it heated up quickly! The staff were attentive and friendly with them showing to out seats and taking drinks orders quickly - and giving several useful recommendations! The only downside was that overall the food was lacking. The Harrisa Cauliflower tasted okay but felt that it could have used more time to cook and soften up - further more, the turkey main was very average alongside the plum pudding. So all in all, great atmosphere and service - the food was lacking.

Nice restaurant with good service. We ordered the duck and waffle, chips and caramelized carrots. The duck was tender and the chips were really good.

Was really exited to visit the duck and waffle however the speed of service and lack of apologies from the staff put a pin in the experience. We waited an hour and a half from when our reservation began to recieve our main meal, we were asked if we wanted another drink once which was 2 hours into the event. I appreciate it gets busy in a restaurant and am always happy to wait however would like some sort of apology or recognition for waiting that long. The food itself was good for the most part, burgers had some soggy bottoms but that's a personal preference 😉. The atmosphere was nice however the two tables sat either side of us were also complaining about the food itself and the wait times, which didn't help the evening. (Particularly didn't help that one of them had their drinks comped despite waiting for less time). All in all, would go back on the hope this was an off day.

Lovely breakfast and staff. Not been to the London one so can’t compare to the original however, this is a really good welcome to the Duck and Waffle “chain”. Almost feels wrong calling it a chain but they have 2 and heading to 3 so guess that’s only fair. I had the Scottish breakfast and was lovely. One egg slightly over poached so not as much lovely yolk to dip across the plate however, was still lovely. Ignore the fact was a breakfast, I’m on holiday! But the 3 cocktails were lovely too. I had the biscoff old fashioned, low country and the take a bow. All amazing I’d come back when here again and also can’t wait to see the London one

Had an amazing visit. Wanted to try it after going to the one in London. The team were fantastic. Exceptionally friendly and the food fantastic. Will be going back. We had the foie grass, the cauliflower starter and the burrito ravioli.

Food & srrvice was great, we visited twice in a spam of 4 days. Service was great, Javier (server) was excelente to us. He also speak spanish, wich make our time even better.

The food and service were very good, especially from Javier, who advised us very well on the menu and also served as our tour guide. In my opinion, a highly recommended place if you visit Edinburgh.

Came here last night for our 5 year anniversary and had a lovely evening, food is well portioned, decently priced for the city and the staff were extremely friendly. Would 100% recommend it here if you find yourself in Edinburgh!

All front of house staff were excellent, particularly the manager / maitre’d. Fantastic service and the food/drinks were outstanding. Atmosphere fantastic and the live musician was great. Look forward to coming back soon.

Yummy yummy I had mussels 🦪 (Scottish mussels to be more specific) and there was a lovely lady who I think is Canadian, and her name is Tatum! Tatum is so kind and helpful, so smiley, chatty and friendly! Pretty much all of the (mostly men) working here are good workers! The mussels were also very tasty and there was also a very tasty sauce! （*＾＾*)

Genuinely surprised how unique the dishes are. We arrived knowing this place could be special, but did not expect how good the food will be. The food is like a mix of American, European, and Asian tastes and experience. The Duck & Waffle, and the Pork Ears are awesome.

Duck and Waffle offers something delightfully different, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was simple, fun, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious—a creative twist on classic dishes that hit all the right notes. The wine list, however, could use a bit of fine-tuning. The top-end selections were amazing, the middle range felt overly dominated by heavy Bordeauxs, NZ Pinot Noir. The service was a standout highlight, made even more memorable by our lovely server—a Venezuelan neuroscientist, no less! Overall, Duck and Waffle is a great, super stylish, spot for something out of the ordinary—definitely worth a visit!

As a frequent visitor to Edinburgh, I regularly walk by Duck & Waffle, but had never been in to dine, until this morning. The place had a very modern, clean aesthetic, with a welcoming ambience. I know dining alone can occasionally make people feel anxious, but I felt very comfortable as a solo diner. My server, Christian, was the right level of attentive - never too many questions, but always to hand when I needed anything - which also greatly helped. I ordered the Scottish Breakfast, with scrambled eggs, and was not disappointed; the eggs were cooked to perfection - buttery and smooth, seasoned well. The bacon was crisp, and the sausage was juicy. Really enjoyed the cheese scone, too. And the baked beans were had a lovely tang, and a hint of spice, that helped elevate them from a simple side. I would definitely recommend Duck & Waffle to those of you looking for a sophisticated yet easy breakfast dining experience in the heart of Edinburgh.

The food was very delicious. It didn't smell like other pubs and restaurants :) The prices are a little high, but not exaggerated.

Very disappointed in our recent visit to Duck and Waffle. After having such a good experience on previous occasions this recent visit left a bitter aftertaste and it wasn’t the food. Customer service needs work. Won’t be recommending any more and won’t be returning.

Some quotes from our walk home: "Not even a restaurant in China has made me this sick that fast, and ive been to some dirty restaurants" "I'm really close to throwing up" "Even the truffel tasted stale" DO NOT ORDER THE TRUFFEL RAVIOLI, it swims in a pool of oil, undercooked badly once, when returned still undercooked but we were too hungry and ate it, regretting that badly now. You will pay £25 for HALF A WAFFLE and one egg and one duck leg which you have to debone yourself. But was lovely. Service and atmosphere is great, our food came before our wine did so speedy cooking. We understand why the customer relations team is having to work hard.

Good atmosphere and we were really excited for a meal but after waiting over an hour for it we were disappointed. The food was tasty but cold and for £75 to end up with basically a cold sandwich I wouldn't recommend it. Not a great first meal in Edinburgh.

Went for Sunday roast for a birthday. The chicken was not cooked. Waiter shown food but it was shrugged off. Food came out cold. Was also charged for £20 of other items which weren't ordered. These were however refunded when it was raised after we had paid. I dont normally like to complain unless something significant happens or if theres many problems with my experience. I was disappointed with duck and waffle.

Like having dinner in a disco. Style over substance. 12.5% service charge is a joke. Ask for a coke and it's a tiny 200ml bottle... Particularly entertaining was the floor manager who was like Jason Statham if you'd ordered him on Temu. Overpriced, trying to hard. The place to be if you have money but no class or taste.

You take an elevator up to the 4th floor to access the restaurant, and the elevator is huge—perfect for a wheelchair or pram. It’s a great spot to meet for brunch or lunch, then do a little shopping afterward. There are lots of great shops in St. James Quarter! Vibe: They definitely spent $$$$ on the decor! The vibe is really cool—I'd describe it as upscale chill. Food: The most important part of the review. Here’s what we ordered: Apps: - Corn ribs (6/10) – The BBQ sauce is really sweet, and it's a bit of a messy dish, but they do provide hand wipes, which is nice. - Bacon-wrapped dates (10/10) – expensive but delicious! Mains: - Duck & Waffle (7/10) – A little gamey, and the egg was too runny. - Dry Aged Beef Burger (10/10) – GREAT burger! - Chicken & Waffle (10/10) – Delicious. Sides: - Tenderstem Broccoli (8/10) – Good. - Honey Baked Carrots (10/10) – Really good. - French Fries (10/10) - Salty, crispy goodness. Had a lovely dinner here with superb service and an exquisite atmosphere. The set menu was both incredibly affordable and delicious and so were the drinks.

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Staff were fantastic, with our server Alvaro going well above and beyond to look after us. He was a great host, guiding us through the menu and offering advice on popular options and combinations. The rest of the team that night were also fab, including other servers and the front of house.

The atmosphere was very hip and friendly and the staff really made me feel comfortable including my 4 year old who really took a liking to the friendly waitress! I did not have the duck and waffle (feel I missed out here) however the lamb and the fish were really tasty so no regrets. Food was a bit on the pricy side but overall worth it.

Trendy restaurant that’s located inside a mall. Came here for dinner on a weeknight as a friend had a good experience at the location in London. While the service was nice, the food was a bit disappointing. They did have a set menu for fringe fest as well as their normal dishes. Tried the duck and waffle, and thought the meat was tasty, it was on the small side for 25 pounds and also a tad too salty. During the dessert, the strawberries and cream dessert was good, although for the sorbets, there was a mix up with my friend’s order so we had to sort that out. Overall, it has a nice ambiance but the food was a bit mixed.

Marvelous food. I'm only giving it four stars compared to other premier restaurants. Some of the dishes were a bit hit and miss, but it's namesake duck and waffle was wonderful.

Alvaro went above and beyond to make our babymoon/anniversary special and even brought us something that wasn't on the menu when he heard I wanted it. Absolutely lovely place, the fried mars bar is very unique!

We had dinner here last week as a group of 4 and really enjoyed our experience. The staff were really great and managed to find us a good quiet table by the bar as all other main tables were booked (which was fair enough as we were a walk in on a Friday night!). We had our little dog with us and the staff were super nice and brought him some water and some snacks to keep him happy. The food was delicious, including the Duck and Waffle main, which was really good. Overall, it was a great experience - thank you to the team!

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The food was incredible and the level of service exceptional. From the moment we arrived the host asked for any dietary restrictions and made note to pass onto our servers. We were provided with an allergen sheet of the full menu that showed which dishes could or couldn’t be adjusted based on our restrictions. Every single restaurant should have this!! The staff were attentive and it was a great atmosphere too. Definitely would recommend and will be back!!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had, a delicious cocktail, enthralling aesthetics, excellent service and all around great vibes. We had the house made bread (too hot to touch when it arrived! 😍), broccoli, pork belly, and the duck and waffle. I drank the Queen of Scots which was a perfect sipper with just a little heat on the finish. The look of the place is so cool and was paired well with fun music— which is great because breaking out into a little happy food dance might be in your future, too.

I have been to the Duck and Waffle quite a few times, and I only noticed now I haven't left a review! I absolutely LOVE this place and I recommend it to anyone who would like to try delicious food, immerse in state-of-the-art décor, and enjoy excellent customer service. The reception and waiting service are exceptional, and they all go the extra mile to make your wishes come true. The food is different from any other restaurants I have tried in really creative and scrumptious combinations. At this stage, I have pretty much tried the whole menu, and nothing has ever disappointed to this date. I'll be back again soon!

Duck & Waffle is a great concept , with a sister restaurant in London. I enjoyed the brunch fixed price menu and at £29 it was amazing value. The venue is on the 4th floor of the shopping centre and you arrive via the brightly coloured lift. Great cocktails and brunch all day, what's not to love 😘

We hired The Whiskey Room for a birthday murder mystery dinner and it was just perfect! Our server was so lovely, really attentive and worked around the murder mystery segments so well. Food was also incredible. All my guests raved about the venue so thankyou for making the night so special!

Nipped in for breakfast whilst staying at W Hotel Edinburgh. Fabulous vibe, and the duck benedict was fantastic. The orange juice was freshly pressed, and staff were very accommodating.

We came here on a whim to celebrate my husband and his sister's birthday, and we are so incredibly glad we did! From the moment we stepped out of the lift, it felt classy and we were made to feel welcome. Our server was so incredibly kind and attentive all evening and the atmosphere felt comfortable and warm throughout our experience. The bathrooms were clean and accessible! We ordered from the set menu, three courses, and it came out to about £30 per head! And for the food we received we were well impressed with this price. All of the food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and came out in good time. They were also very happy to accomodate my dietary needs due to being pregnant! To top it off, they threw in a lovely little free brownie each for our birthday boy and girl. We are so thouroughly impressed with every part of our dining experience tonight. We were well taken care of and it made our birthday celebration special. Myself and my husband will certainly be back for date night in the future! I would highly recommend seeing this restarant and what they have to offer for yourself!

Really enjoyed this place on our last day in Scotland. The food was great-steak tartar was amazing (different twist on what I am used to), truffle fries were good along with the steak and broccoli. Me and my significant other shared all of these items and it was plenty enough for both of us. The server was great and very friendly. Everything came out quickly. The table with a group of 6 told us we really will enjoy it, and we did. Definitely worth a visit.

Left confused! The restaurant was not busy, as in you could play basketball in the space. We were told to wait 1 hour since we hadn’t booked. However, checking Online the next available table was open, and the table after and after that. We just went elsewhere to spend our money. We were well dressed after work.

Having recently returned from the United States, visiting Edinburgh Duck & Waffle was my top priority, driven by fond memories of your exceptional cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience today was far from the standards I had come to expect. Our server, a blonde-haired lady around 30 years old attended to us. I was taken aback by her reluctance and the unusual tone she used when addressing us, which was unlike any previous service I have experienced at your establishment. A few incidents that stood out: 1. When my friend asked for recommendations, she dismissively stated she could not suggest anything because she didn’t know our preference—a response that seemed unhelpful and unfriendly. 2. I expressed my desire to order the "duck & waffle," which led to an unexpectedly harsh reaction from her, questioning why I ask recommendation which I already have a choice(my friend ask for recommendation but I did not). This response was confusing and made me feel uncomfortable, as the dish is a classic and a personal favourite. 3. Upon inquiring about the beef tartar, which I enjoyed in the past, she rudely pointed to the menu and curtly informed me it was only available in the evening. 4. It was also noted that she failed to inquire about any allergies or if we wished to start with an appetizer or dessert, which is standard practice. I hope duck&waffle Edinburgh should manage their team better and improve their service quality.

We stopped by for dinner on our anniversary and were very pleased with the creative menu, amazed by the vibrant decor, and dazzled by the charming Vittoria our server. I would stop back just to enjoy her cheerful demeanor.

I have to say I kept meaning to come into this place eventually I have no regrets whatsoever nothing but class great drinks great service very kind staf a lovely different place to look at very American style which goes with the great music I love it

The crispy duck was delicious, the port belly was delicious but with too much fat. The prices are stiff but services do no match. Our salary was brought up after our main courses. At the end, they still charged us services fees! Do not recommend this restaurant.

Went for some lunch and got sat promptly and ordered quickly. However when the food came it was lukewarm and was in much smaller portions than you’d expect with prices so high. Food was nice but the temperature and portions really took away from the experience but not worth causing a fuss with a complaint. When we went to pay we noticed that the price of one of the drinks was wrong so told a member of staff, it was sorted but the service charge that we were never informed about was still applied to the bill, in my eyes a service charge should be instantly removed from a bill if there is any sort of issue not left on without an apology for charging people incorrectly.

Best tailored unforced genuine service ever like they are also having a good time as a team: never been asked if we want dessert menu at same time as main so we can pace ourselves depending on if there's any that interest us. Best food ever: their buckwheat dish was so comforting, even got helpful instructions for how to split the duck ourselves over their classic duck & waffles, & could even take some of our creamed spinach side that was very big for a side, away in a takeaway box they gave us. Best french briochey toast ever: served sizzling in a cauldron-like pot. Best coolest decor leading to table: recommend going up lift from shortcut at st james centre entrance from princes st end. Would come again with others for that french toast.

Over priced….. £24 for half a waffle, deep fried mushrooms, duck egg Dry aged burger, definitely dry! Was it a child’s portion 🧐 Badly presented, hollandaise spilling off plate. Colombian eggs looked like it had just been thrown on plate. Small flies constantly flew around table, dive bombing our food. Staff very friendly. Toilets so hard to find, the concierge tells you where it is the second you walk in the door! £191.60 for 7 people, one course each. 4 alcoholic drinks!

One of my favorite restaurants ever. Excellent food (got lucky with some huge oysters), perfect service with good drink recommendations, and the DJ created a great vibe. Enjoyed this place thoroughly.

Breakfast was such a treat here! The decor, service and presentation was exquisite. It’s spendy and a great way to start the day. We tried the duck and waggle namesake, granola and coffee.

The food was delicious. However, waiting 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive and not receiving our refills until after we had requested our bill, kind of sullied our experience.

We enjoyed a celebratory meal here. The decor is extremely nice and all staff we encountered were very courteous and friendly. The food was delicious and so was the presentation. The service was very good too. There were four of us and we all had soft drinks. The food comprised one Scottish breakfast, one duck Benedict, one deep fried Mars bar waffle and one caramelised banana waffle. The total bill, including service charge, was £82.15.

Superb and tasty breakfast in the most unexpectedly stylish restaurant. Service was top notch, they stored our luggage while we ate, delightful & worth it.

What an incredible evening. I wish I could rate more than 5 stars. The host captivated us with his hospitality. When we were seated, Vittoria was not to be deterred by my bad mood and delivered a warm welcome and exceptional service. She explained the shared plates concept but understood we wanted our choices to come as courses. She explained this would take a little longer and it did. But it was worth the wait. The Steak Tartare was incredible. I wanted the Burrata & Truffle Ravioli and I wanted something extra with it. I was a bit put off by the £8 price tag for a side of broccoli but ordered it anyway. The Ravioli was probably some of the best I’ve ever eaten and was perfectly cooked. The broccoli was sensational. Probably the first time I’ve ever said that about broccoli. I had initially planned on sharing it but once I tasted it, my sharing mood went out the door. We’ve enjoyed Edinburgh so much and this was probably the best food and service we’ve had in the city. For younger generations, this place had the added bonus of being super Instagrammable. 📸

Great place for a quick lunch. Went in and bought the set 3 course menu with a cocktail included. Entrance from the lift felt like a special entry to the restaurant. Friendly helpful staff, clean environment, comfortable chairs. Relaxing music. Great toilets. Food was if a high quality and a varied menu was available. Highly recommended.

We spontaneously ended up in the restaurant after our shopping trip and were surprised by the great ambience. The food was very good. The service staff was very nice and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

Was too nervous to say any of this in person as I’m not really good at saying things out loud but me & my sister came here last night as it was my 18th the night before. We originally booked the alchemist but couldn’t get in because they didn’t accept our young Scot cards as ID. Being kind of at a loss of what to do I knew of duck & waffle and tried to get in and luckily we did. The food was amazing and the hosts/servers were so nice and attentive, really cheering us up after what happened. I think one of them was called Ella, she was so kind and helpful and even brought out a little birthday cake, nearly had tears because all of the nice and kind vibes. Definitely will remember this for a long time and will be back💖

We were more than happy with our dinner at Duck & Waffle. We enjoyed the Fringe menu and thought it was fabulous.

Sad to say style over substance. Probably very appealing for the instagram crowd. Service was somewhat slow for being as quiet as it was but the staff were all very pleasant. The venue has obviously been styled to a high standard. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Unlikely to return based on today.

Can food, service and atmosphere combine to make an evening amazing, I didn't think it was possible. Sure, we can all easily just tick 5 stars for all three, when really it was one, maybe two of the three that were actually 5, we just tick the other out of habit. However, for once, I can truly tick all three as 5 stars. The food, OMG, my mouth has never been so happy, what an adventure of taste, freshness and outstanding creativity. The atmosphere, could not have been more perfectly balanced, you could try, but it was just perfect. The service, was not worth 5 stars, it was worth more and all down to Alvaro. Don't get me wrong, everyone we had contact with was super friendly and helpful, but Alavro was the cherry, on the icing on the cake. This guy is without any doubt the best server/waiter I have encountered in my life. Friendly, personable, warm, attentive, conversational and all just the right level to be graciously humble and not over the top or underwhelming, just natural. Will I go back, hell yes. Sadly I live in Manchester, so it won't be as often as I want it to be. So Duck & Waffle, do me a huge favour, open one in Manchester, please. It's either that, or I frequent Edinburgh more often. One way or another, I'm having my Duck & Waffle again, try and stop me.

Great breakfast and even better service !!!

What an incredible dinning experience this turned out to be! The atmosphere is very unique, modern concept, and great decor. Our server Alvaro went above and beyond to ensure that we had a phenomenal dining experience. He was extremely attentive with great recommendations and always checking on us. The food was just spectacular, starting with the pig ears and the corn ribs. For the main course, we shared many dishes, and everything was excellent with great presentation. I absolutely loved my Scottish muscles as they were big, and the sauce was delicious! The pork belly was awesome, and the Duck and waffles just incredible! I highly recommend going there for a meal! Gracias Alvaro for being such an amazing host!!!

The menu seemed a little short on options for us. However we enjoyed what we had. We found the seats uncomfortable. The biggest plus to this restaurant was F.O.H. staff. Very helpful, friendly and efficient.

This is a very instagramable restaurant— and that’s about it. They are known for their ::drumroll:: duck and waffle. Surprise surprise. This dish was pretty disappointing compared to their delicious snacks and starters. Highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates. But if the duck and waffle is going to be the namesake for the restaurant, then the quality needs to get better. I could have made it at home and not have shelled 25 £ for a mediocre waffle and a little bit of duck. While it’s a cool concept, definitely a place you can post to social media to impress friends, I think a bit more love needs to be put into their main courses.

Gorgeous venue but be aware that they don't advertise the correct opening times. We were still eating and they started vacuuming and cleaning around us, making it difficult to get hold of a member of staff. The menu on the website, in house and the allergens board indicated differently, which made me kind of nervous, but I was fine eating there gluten free. The vegetarian menu is very limited though. Not sure if the food is worth the price,but the drinks menu is extensive and very nice!
