We loved the atmosphere and the food. Everything was delicious. Especially the duck on waffles.

Excellent Scottish breakfast. Staff were outstanding. Our server Michael really went that extra mile for customers.

Not a bad place, we were here for lunch on a workday. The dishes are tasty, but peculiar in terms of the presence of sweet waffles in half of the positions. Regarding the service, everything was fine, but they forgot to bring one of our items, and as a result they replaced the dessert with a fresher one, apologized and removed the dessert and service fee from the check, a small thing, but nice.

I came to try the Oyster happy hour & it was incredible. I didn't think I'd enjoy them so much! So tasty!! Great service from Cam & another waiter who was i think French? As my friend couldn't make it. I decided to dine solo. I had thee best experience. The wine was delicious & the Oysters amazing! Thank you duck & waffle. I'll be back Xx

Been just now and was served by an amazing lady called Eithne. Haven’t enjoyed a stay for food for a long time like this, had mussels as it just happens to be fruit-de-mer festival here! Worth every penny, genuine vibe 😊❤️

Not disappointed with this restaurant where I arrived by chance. I had a starter, main course and dessert menu and the starter alone was something. Hearty and good, pleasant setting, attentive staff. Only positive.

Terrible experience. We’ve eaten at the Duck & Waffle in London many times and love it. Never had a bad experience there. So, we thought we would give the Duck & Waffle in Edinburgh a try. Horrible. A couple who arrived after us were waited on and had food way before we did. Then they got our order wrong. I ordered cod, which was overcooked and chewy. We ordered bread and butter with our meal and got something else. The music meant to provide atmosphere was too load and obnoxious. I almost walked out. Will never eat there again.

The interior looks amazing and the place has a lovely vibe, but the value for the food just isn’t there. £24 for a small piece of duck and half a frozen waffle (clearly just reheated) is honestly a joke. The portion sizes are tiny for the price, and on top of that, there’s a mandatory service charge — which feels ridiculous given the overall experience. Really disappointing

We booked a typical breakfast and we were not disappointed. The menu is incredible and the dishes were stunning! The setting was charming and the servers were attentive. I recommend the waffle with eggs, Hollandaise sauce and Sriracha sauce.

Great vibe and service. Unfortunately the food is very average. Had the lamb and the ravioli. It was lacking in flavour and overall bland (and I am not a particularly picky eater). Even the side of carrots tasted like nothing as if they had been boiled. Much better food options in the city for the high price.

Such bland food. Where is the flavour? The staff and dining area itself really can’t be faulted, but the food just tasted like nothing! Had the lamb belly, ravioli and honey carrots and honestly if it was a blind taste test you’d barely be able to distinguish between the three, simply no flavour. Everything was cooked perfectly and had so much potential, was also plated very nicely, but we were left disappointed. This place feels like it was made for Instagram photos and not for quality meals.

Sorry Duck & Waffle, I'm not sugarcoating it Due to the ratings, I had such high hopes. Unfortunately, it was by far the worst place I've eaten in Edinburgh. Starting with the atmosphere, I'll be quick. It's clean, very modern, but imo not well thought out. We sat in the bar area where it was set up to look cozy, like a café...but at 7 pm there was pretty loud club music where the DJ fluctuated the volume weirdly so you could never get used to it. We couldn't have a conversation without almost shouting, which was weird given the café style tables as shown in their pictures. I'm sure it's a great vibe for some people, but it was the worst of a club, a bar, and a café all in one place lol. I mean, I might just not be a fancy enough person to appreciate the place, but it was poorly thought out. The service was mediocre at best. Now, I didn't revoke any tip or anything over it, because I'm not a Karen and like, they still did their job...but holy crap guys, please step it up. It was like interacting with a Tim Hortons cashier on a Sunday morning. They were there...physically...but I'm sure they wanted to be anywhere other than work (I get it, who doesn't) but like, the vibe the staff emit is basically depression (all but one guy who brought something out from the kitchen, who seemed basically normal). When I paid (after trying to flag someone down for 5 mins and finally just got up and walked over to someone) I was asked how everything was...I replied "awful" which was met with a taken aback look...and then silence...I paid, and we left. Now, the most important thing, the food. It was pretty bad. Was it edible? Sure! But technically so is cardboard and I think cardboard has more flavor. My husband got the lamb, I got ravioli, the people with us got fish, and the other got the cesar salad. We got house bread, carrots, and broccolini to share. The fish was apparently ok. Small portion for the price, not horrible or anything, but very, very forgettable. The ravioli on the other hand, I wish I could forget. It was a tiny portion, and I'm not a big eater. The truffles were nasty, but, I'm sure someone thought they were good. The pasta was like soggy cardboard...I don't think they even salted the water the pasta was boiled in. It was swimming in just...unsalted butter...and I think a brick of parm might have sharted on the plate at some point, but I can't be certain. The filling was almost tasteless, except for a weird...almost film...it leaves on your tongue with a slightly off cream cheese flavor. I asked for salt and pepper, they brought me pepper so, I was like...mmmkay (I also never salt my food. I don't like salty food, but this was like hospital food bland). I hosed it in pepper and it just wasn't enough. As a joke, one of the people with us suggested I try it with ketchup...I thought it would be hilarious to order a side of ketchup (I did it politely ofcourse), it was the most expression I got from any of them...the side eye at least made us snicker when they walked away. And no, it didn't help the flavor at all lol. My the other guest who got the cesar salad...they just plop whole leaves of romaine lettuce on the plate in a lazy fashion and toss some stuff on it. The chicken was definitely overcooked and dry. That one was just lazy. The lamb belly was absolutely flavorless. Like, you know when you're making soup stock at home, and you decide to just eat a random chunk of meat that's been boiling in stock for 6 hours and it tastes like almost nothing...but you can still tell it's meat...pretty much that. The seasoning used on it was so minimal that we wondered if they forgot a sauce or something...which happens, nbd...but no...it just sucked. Everything has yogurt under it, which, ok, different...but it was underwhelming flavor wise. It was just plain yogurt slapped on a plate. Broccolini was overcooked and the yogurt and the spices just didn't mix well. House bread was ok, and carrots were actually good, the yogurt worked there nicely. Sorry to be so savage guys, but that was absolutely terrible

The food here was exceptional. We had a great time to the point we came back again next day for lunch. Food was consistent, tasty, and the general atmosphere was pleasant. We visited both times with our young son and they gave us everything we needed. Must visit spot whilst shopping for sure!

The arrogance of the host tonight in refusing a table after his colleague had already told us they were setting one up only tells me that there's a clear lack of hospitality training or care. A relief for me as it's been years since this restaurant had any sense of substance. If you're reading this and thinking about coming here, do yourself a favour, Hawksmoor is 100 metres away. Good luck to the gentleman's career with... duck and waffle. 😂

We had an excellent time here!!! The waiter serving us was an absolute delight - super charismatic and friendly even at 9:30am on a Monday. The coffee was gorgeous and honestly one of the nicest I’ve ever had. The star of the show… the French toast. My LORD. This was diabolically amazing. It was one super thick slab of brioche, covered in a sweet vanilla custard which was perfectly complimented by the tart berry compote. A gorgeous dish and I would recommend it to absolutely everyone. Definitely go here!

Love the London venue and this Edinburgh venue didn’t disappoint!

The truth is that the place is good, the food was not bad but for the price we paid I do not see that it is worth it, it has not compensated us for the food, the service and the place. They have also charged us for water. I wouldn't go back.

Waited for LV to open, so popped in here as was only place open to sit and have coffee, was our first time. Nice large restaurant, seated immediately by attentive staff. Hubby ordered avocado Colombian dish, he said it was alright. I ordered Scottish breakfast, did not care for cheese scone would have preferred tattie scone or plain toast. Requested the two eggs over easy, came hard and rubbery. Staff reordered and this time I got one soft yolk and one hard. I did not complain and just accepted this but didn't think it could be that difficult to cook eggs. Server was very nice and even on presenting the bill informed me that my breakfast was 'on the house'. As it was early morning (9ish), it was not busy, I would wonder about the quality of the food when it is busy.

Alvaro could not have been more polite and courteous. He made me feel relaxed and welcome. I even asked him for a pudding recommendation. He suggested the sticky toffee waffle, and so that's what I ordered. No regrets, it scratched an ith I didn't know I had. All the food was delicious. I struggled o eat the full portions due to medical reasons, but the taste, the presentation, and everything were perfect. Alvaro even checked in on me as he had noticed I hadn't eaten a lot of my main and he naturallt made me feel so comfortable. I would 100% go back again as the service was incomparable to anywhere else i have been in a long while.

Atmosphere and service are truly excellent. The food was reasonably good, for the most part, but not remarkable. In all fairness, we dined on the fixed price “Burns Night” menu which was excellent value for money. I had devilled eggs to start which were not good (just egg whites filled with what tasted like a large dollop of mayonnaise- quite odd) but the haggis was tasty and the lemon posset dessert was very good. Cocktails / wine selection was great, but not cheap - as you’d expect. It’s a really pleasant place to dine and meet with friends & family. I’d definitely return, but I’d hope the à la carte menu is something a little more special than we experienced.

Completely underwhelming. The food is overpriced. The table design and layout was not dissimilar to being stuck in an airport. The musak played by the DJ equally dull. On the upside, the person who brought our food was professional and personable and that one person saved the experience from being a complete washout. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

Where do i start!! 🥰 🥰 What a lovely lovely evening my family and i had at the “DUCK AND WAFFLE” for my sons birthday meal on “Thursday 6th March” they could not of been nicer or done anymore than they did, the best meal we have EVER had out anywhere by a mile, excellent can’t be more strong, all the staff the chefs everyone that worked that evening needs a massive massive praise, will definitely be coming back when we next visit Edinburgh, thank you so so much honestly it was utterly beautiful, the lovely birthday gesture of a sweet surprise made by the chefs for my son was very touching and so thoughtful, honestly it was a beautiful ending to such a long day of travelling to Edinburgh for a long weekend so thank you and keep up the excellent work ❤️

Our meal was delicious! We eat the vegetarian breakfast, there are so many things to taste in the plate. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the place very beautiful.

The food and ambiance were truly fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, providing exceptional service. The Duck and Waffle dish was absolutely special and delicious, and the beef burger was also quite enjoyable. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the restaurant made it even more memorable with a complimentary celebratory ‘Happy Anniversary’ plate and champagne.

This turned out to be a great dinner experience! From the food to the service amazing, the atmosphere and deco it was very beautiful. Most importantly our service Christian he was amazing, always consulting us on the plates and very attentive. He made our night. I recently visit for the Eat Out Edinburgh event and, honestly, it was a letdown. 👎 The special menu was overpriced, with dishes that didn’t hit the mark. It felt like they were overcharging for average food. This approach seems to miss the point of Eat Out Edinburgh and doesn’t show much respect for the event or its customers. Wish I’d given it a miss.🙁🙁🙁

100% one of the best restaurant's I've been too, the service was second to none, the food.... was to die for and I'm fussy, our server Grant was absolutely fantastic and could not do enough for us, he made our experience such a memorable one. Menu was confusing, the categories are a bit difficult to understand because you can’t tell what comes with a waffle or not, but the food was delicious and the servers were wonderful! Do take care, it’s fancier than it looks on google maps but there is no dress code. I got the carmalised banana waffle and it was great! You can ask for syrup if you want it. It was my partner’s birthday and they brought us a super beautiful little dessert. So great! Definitely would go back.

Overall, expensive and unimpressive. I ordered the signature dish which ended up being fried chicken on a waffle. It was embarrassing. I had brought my parents here to treat them. Whilst everything looked amazing and service was okay. A mistake led to my mum having to return a dish. Whilst the food was good. It wasn't worth even half the price. The atmosphere and place looks amazing but we were sectioned off in a corner from it all. Needs work.

Never in my life have I asked to take a service charge off a bill. Went to duck and waffle for breakfast this morning and the waiter that served us was so rude. Forgot to take our drink order, slammed food on the table and was more interested in eyeing up young women that were coming into dine rather than taking our order. Wouldn’t ever go back now after that experience!

Great service, amazing atmosphere and you can see the people working hard to prepare the dishes. I liked the location. The only point of attention is that the foie gras was not really foie gras. But that's okay, because the atmosphere was worth it!

Poor quality tea, fresh juice was definitely not fresh, avocado was also just poor quality. Overall just really poor quality food although people there are friendly.

Feels like they pay less attention to people that go there just for food, seems like it's predominantly a bar. The duck and waffle was 10/10 but everything else was mid so would only recommend getting the duck.

The atmosphere is perfect. Lots of dining spaces and the decor is really unique. There's a main dining area with different eating places around the main dining area. The staff super friendly and attentive. They've done a great job in maintaining the place. The restaurant is 2 years old but feels like it's just opened. Perfectly situated in heart of Edinburgh and easy to get to and accessible friendly (step free access from both entrance on the street or from within shopping centre) Dining experience was good. Only giving 4 stars because I would've loved to have the the full waffle (like what they used to do!) Rather than a half waffle. Duck was enjoyable but felt like I had more cripsy areas than soft duck meat. Overall enjoyed the experience. Will I be back again? Probably with a group of friends for brunch....would be good to see what else to try on their menu

Their proposal of waffles with duck confit is very original. You can't miss their Angus tartare. Also worth highlighting is the service and kindness of our waitress Sofía.

3.5 Average creative food The duck and waffles are a little sweet. The duck flavor is still a little bit but not very strong. The tenderness is not good. The combination of duck and waffles and omelette is more gimmicky. I don’t think the flavor mix is ​​that amazing. Raw beef salad and Caesar salad are both OK, neither bad nor amazing.

Great place to start my long foodie weekend in Edinburgh

We had an early dinner at the Duck and Waffle in Edinburgh on Boxing Day. The meal was nice and the service was good and we had a nice long walk after dinner and then had an early night because we had a 7 am flight to Norway the next day. My best friend was extremely ill that night. She is a nurse and she knew right away she had food poisoning. The only thing that all three of us did not eat and that she only ate was the duck as I am vegetarian and my husband had the chicken. I have never seen her so ill and luckily after two or three hours of being violently ill it seemed whatever was making her sick had passed and we were still able to get our flight although it was touch and go for a little bit. That evening she wrote to the manager who seemed very concerned and kept asking her if she was sure it was food poisoning which she was and after several back-and-forth emails he promised to send us a voucher for a free meal at the London Duck and Waffle which is where we live. He passed this job onto someone who did contact us once saying it would take several days to sort this but since we have had no contact from him I have tried to get a hold of the Duck and Waffle in Edinburgh several times about this and basically we are being ghosted. I am extremely disappointed and although they seem concerned at first, they obviously are not bothered and are not interested in compensating us fot a very very bad experience. It definitely was the duck so if you order that be careful.

Good food but I think it's more about the experience than the food itself. Was the food good? Yes. Would I pay what I paid for what I ate? No. The potatoes, you can just save them, they charge you for the water by the way. The duck is better than the chicken. You're going to come out well-eaten, but for 4 dishes and two more potatoes at £40 it didn't seem like good value for money.

Had breakfast here - the duck and waffle, eggs and avocado on toast and the fruit bowl were absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant, very attentive, especially the guy who took us to our table, Alvaro who kept us topped up with water and a man who we presume to be a manager who we saw talking to everyone and generally being really friendly and enthusiastic. Only one minor gripe is that we were here when it was very quiet and they sat people quite close to eachother (I get it, lots of places do it). It was no big deal but the table two over from us were quite loud. Visiting Scotland for only for a few nights we wanted to use our time for the best places to eat and this didn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend!
