Excellent ! Food is perfect, service too And the restaurant is beautiful highly recommend

I have to say I kept meaning to come into this place eventually I have no regrets whatsoever nothing but class great drinks great service very kind staf a lovely different place to look at very American style which goes with the great music I love it

We stopped by for dinner on our anniversary and were very pleased with the creative menu, amazed by the vibrant decor, and dazzled by the charming Vittoria our server. I would stop back just to enjoy her cheerful demeanor.

The crispy duck was delicious, the port belly was delicious but with too much fat. The prices are stiff but services do no match. Our salary was brought up after our main courses. At the end, they still charged us services fees! Do not recommend this restaurant.

Went for some lunch and got sat promptly and ordered quickly. However when the food came it was lukewarm and was in much smaller portions than you’d expect with prices so high. Food was nice but the temperature and portions really took away from the experience but not worth causing a fuss with a complaint. When we went to pay we noticed that the price of one of the drinks was wrong so told a member of staff, it was sorted but the service charge that we were never informed about was still applied to the bill, in my eyes a service charge should be instantly removed from a bill if there is any sort of issue not left on without an apology for charging people incorrectly.

Best tailored unforced genuine service ever like they are also having a good time as a team: never been asked if we want dessert menu at same time as main so we can pace ourselves depending on if there's any that interest us. Best food ever: their buckwheat dish was so comforting, even got helpful instructions for how to split the duck ourselves over their classic duck & waffles, & could even take some of our creamed spinach side that was very big for a side, away in a takeaway box they gave us. Best french briochey toast ever: served sizzling in a cauldron-like pot. Best coolest decor leading to table: recommend going up lift from shortcut at st james centre entrance from princes st end. Would come again with others for that french toast.

Over priced….. £24 for half a waffle, deep fried mushrooms, duck egg Dry aged burger, definitely dry! Was it a child’s portion 🧐 Badly presented, hollandaise spilling off plate. Colombian eggs looked like it had just been thrown on plate. Small flies constantly flew around table, dive bombing our food. Staff very friendly. Toilets so hard to find, the concierge tells you where it is the second you walk in the door! £191.60 for 7 people, one course each. 4 alcoholic drinks!

Good food and attentive staff. However there were a load of fruit flies buzzing about and we had to get our coats back as there was no-one on the reception.

One of my favorite restaurants ever. Excellent food (got lucky with some huge oysters), perfect service with good drink recommendations, and the DJ created a great vibe. Enjoyed this place thoroughly.

Breakfast was such a treat here! The decor, service and presentation was exquisite. It’s spendy and a great way to start the day. We tried the duck and waggle namesake, granola and coffee.

The food was delicious. However, waiting 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive and not receiving our refills until after we had requested our bill, kind of sullied our experience.

We enjoyed a celebratory meal here. The decor is extremely nice and all staff we encountered were very courteous and friendly. The food was delicious and so was the presentation. The service was very good too. There were four of us and we all had soft drinks. The food comprised one Scottish breakfast, one duck Benedict, one deep fried Mars bar waffle and one caramelised banana waffle. The total bill, including service charge, was £82.15.

Superb and tasty breakfast in the most unexpectedly stylish restaurant. Service was top notch, they stored our luggage while we ate, delightful & worth it.

4 of us dined here for the first time and we all chose from the 3 course set menu. Every dish was delicious. Our servers were polite, efficient and patient - especially Christian. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.

What an incredible evening. I wish I could rate more than 5 stars. The host captivated us with his hospitality. When we were seated, Vittoria was not to be deterred by my bad mood and delivered a warm welcome and exceptional service. She explained the shared plates concept but understood we wanted our choices to come as courses. She explained this would take a little longer and it did. But it was worth the wait. The Steak Tartare was incredible. I wanted the Burrata & Truffle Ravioli and I wanted something extra with it. I was a bit put off by the £8 price tag for a side of broccoli but ordered it anyway. The Ravioli was probably some of the best I’ve ever eaten and was perfectly cooked. The broccoli was sensational. Probably the first time I’ve ever said that about broccoli. I had initially planned on sharing it but once I tasted it, my sharing mood went out the door. We’ve enjoyed Edinburgh so much and this was probably the best food and service we’ve had in the city. For younger generations, this place had the added bonus of being super Instagrammable. 📸

Great place for a quick lunch. Went in and bought the set 3 course menu with a cocktail included. Entrance from the lift felt like a special entry to the restaurant. Friendly helpful staff, clean environment, comfortable chairs. Relaxing music. Great toilets. Food was if a high quality and a varied menu was available. Highly recommended.

We spontaneously ended up in the restaurant after our shopping trip and were surprised by the great ambience. The food was very good. The service staff was very nice and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

The famous duck and waffle taste good but just a little bit pricey

Was too nervous to say any of this in person as I’m not really good at saying things out loud but me & my sister came here last night as it was my 18th the night before. We originally booked the alchemist but couldn’t get in because they didn’t accept our young Scot cards as ID. Being kind of at a loss of what to do I knew of duck & waffle and tried to get in and luckily we did. The food was amazing and the hosts/servers were so nice and attentive, really cheering us up after what happened. I think one of them was called Ella, she was so kind and helpful and even brought out a little birthday cake, nearly had tears because all of the nice and kind vibes. Definitely will remember this for a long time and will be back💖

Can food, service and atmosphere combine to make an evening amazing, I didn't think it was possible. Sure, we can all easily just tick 5 stars for all three, when really it was one, maybe two of the three that were actually 5, we just tick the other out of habit. However, for once, I can truly tick all three as 5 stars. The food, OMG, my mouth has never been so happy, what an adventure of taste, freshness and outstanding creativity. The atmosphere, could not have been more perfectly balanced, you could try, but it was just perfect. The service, was not worth 5 stars, it was worth more and all down to Alvaro. Don't get me wrong, everyone we had contact with was super friendly and helpful, but Alavro was the cherry, on the icing on the cake. This guy is without any doubt the best server/waiter I have encountered in my life. Friendly, personable, warm, attentive, conversational and all just the right level to be graciously humble and not over the top or underwhelming, just natural. Will I go back, hell yes. Sadly I live in Manchester, so it won't be as often as I want it to be. So Duck & Waffle, do me a huge favour, open one in Manchester, please. It's either that, or I frequent Edinburgh more often. One way or another, I'm having my Duck & Waffle again, try and stop me.

Poor atmosphere, poor quality food. Very disappointed. Food was heavily salted. Pub food at restaurant prices. Service was the only thing worthy of a 5 star.

Sad to say style over substance. Probably very appealing for the instagram crowd. Service was somewhat slow for being as quiet as it was but the staff were all very pleasant. The venue has obviously been styled to a high standard. Unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Unlikely to return based on today.

What an incredible dinning experience this turned out to be! The atmosphere is very unique, modern concept, and great decor. Our server Alvaro went above and beyond to ensure that we had a phenomenal dining experience. He was extremely attentive with great recommendations and always checking on us. The food was just spectacular, starting with the pig ears and the corn ribs. For the main course, we shared many dishes, and everything was excellent with great presentation. I absolutely loved my Scottish muscles as they were big, and the sauce was delicious! The pork belly was awesome, and the Duck and waffles just incredible! I highly recommend going there for a meal! Gracias Alvaro for being such an amazing host!!!

The menu seemed a little short on options for us. However we enjoyed what we had. We found the seats uncomfortable. The biggest plus to this restaurant was F.O.H. staff. Very helpful, friendly and efficient.

This is a very instagramable restaurant— and that’s about it. They are known for their ::drumroll:: duck and waffle. Surprise surprise. This dish was pretty disappointing compared to their delicious snacks and starters. Highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates. But if the duck and waffle is going to be the namesake for the restaurant, then the quality needs to get better. I could have made it at home and not have shelled 25 £ for a mediocre waffle and a little bit of duck. While it’s a cool concept, definitely a place you can post to social media to impress friends, I think a bit more love needs to be put into their main courses.

Gorgeous venue but be aware that they don't advertise the correct opening times. We were still eating and they started vacuuming and cleaning around us, making it difficult to get hold of a member of staff. The menu on the website, in house and the allergens board indicated differently, which made me kind of nervous, but I was fine eating there gluten free. The vegetarian menu is very limited though. Not sure if the food is worth the price,but the drinks menu is extensive and very nice!

Duck and Waffle was a sensational experience. From the moment you walk in you know you're in for something special. It's a little like walking into Wonderland with amazing decor and a visual treat to the senses. Then you get to the food, which was absolutely excellent. Strongly recommend the namesake Duck and Waffle, the sweet yet punchy mustard maple syrup was unexpectedly perfect with the duck and Waffle. The staff were brilliant, friendly and made the whole meal even better. Christian who served us was a legend and the prefect balance of friendly without being overbearing. Left feeling extremely full and satisfied and looking forward to visiting again.

I also really appreciated that the hostess gave us the layout of the restaurant, indicating where the restrooms were as we were being seated. Our server, Christian, was really lovely adding to our experience. Recommending to friends immediately.

My wife and I chose this spot for dinner while we celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary, and we are so glad we did. Everything was spectacular. The whole experience from the atmosphere and decor, to the service and food was just fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Our server (think her name was Victoria, she was fairly new but flawlessly professional), went above and beyond to give us a memorable night. It really made our night, and we will be recommending to everyone.

Never had duck on a waffle before, but it was absolutely lovely. The chicken on a waffle was delicious too. Would recommend. The service was really quite nice as well.

The signature dish Duck and Waffle really surprised me. The duck skin is crispy, the duck meat is not aged, and it goes surprisingly well with the syrup 😋The duck eggs are nothing special🤣I may not be able to tell the difference from eggs. In addition, the pork slices bun from the set menu is also good. The price is a bit expensive but worth a try! worth to try!!

Our first visit to Duck & Waffle for breakfast was a visual experience..... walking in from Leith Street entrance hits you with a burst of psychedelic colour. If you are hung over, it may hit you a little harder. A beautifully set out restaurant, bright spacious and feathery! Our service was good and speedy considering there were 7 of us. The food was delicious, but for my personal pallet, it was a bit crazy for a 9am breakfast. However, I ordered the Greek yoghurt with granola, and that was delicious. The rest of my guests ordered the waffle items and some just egg and bacon. I think if there was an option for just plain waffles, or blueberry waffles, and maple syrup, I'd have had that. But overall, a nice meal. We will return but via the mall 😀 *facilities very clean too.

An unbelievable experience that cannot be described or replicated. Do try the signature dish and the signature whisky cocktails, as they are masterpieces of gastronomic synergy. Perfect service, wonderful atmosphere and flavours that were out of this world. Highly recommend.

Recently came by Duck and Waffle on a quick weekend break to Edinburgh with some friends. We reserved a table and were quickly attended to and shown to our table. Our server was not necessarily the warmest but was very attentive. I was very excited to order the Mars Waffle - not wanting to leave Scotland without trying a deep fried Mars bar! When the dish first came out it was unfortunately cold. However, I highlighted this to a member of staff, and the issue was resolved very quickly and a fresh plate brought out. I am very glad I asked for this to be fixed, as the dish was incredible! The waffle was lovely and crispy on the outside while fluffy and soft in the middle. The smeetmeal sauce was glorious, and gave me digestive/malt caramel vibes?? A really tasty sauce! The hazelnut ice cream was a great addition, very smooth with a recognisable hazelnut flavour. Despite this, the Mars bar was the star of the show! This was everything I expected and wanted it to be. The batter was beautifully crisp, and the inside was melty chocolate, nougat, and caramel - glorious! It was also my friends birthday, which I put on the reservation. Completely unexpectedly, a little cake with candle was bought out at the end of the meal - which I thought was such a lovely gesture! I'd recommend coming to the Duck and Waffle based on this experience, and look forward to going to the London location in the future.

The foie gras crème brûlée is NOT to be missed!

My husband and I had the best time tonight. As soon as we walked in our greeter made sure of any food allergies and made sure everyone was aware and each and every person who came to our table whether is was our waitress, the gentlemen who cleaned our table and wiped it down between courses, or bringing our drinks doubled and tripled checked. They went above and beyond. Sophia was an incredible waitress, I let her help plan my courses and they did NOT disappoint 🙌🏽🙌🏽 so dang good and the drink she had surprised me with (I couldn’t choose) was sooo good. I even made my own dessert float with the sorbet for dessert with my second one it was that good! The vibes were fun, such amazing service and it was just a welcoming atmosphere from start to finish. Definitely go if you find yourself close. I’d go out of my way for it again for sure!

The best restaurant in Edinburgh

This was our first breakfast in Edinburgh and one word: Fantastic! The service offered by Christian really set the bar high for all other restaurants during our stay in Edinburgh!! Thank you Christian for the amazing service you gave to our family! The food was exceptional too! And .. kids eat for free!! Talk about the little things that make a huge difference!!! Absolutely recommend!!

This is my second time going to this restaurant, and as always, it lived up to my expectations. Dishes: The taste of duck & waffle suits me very well. It is caramel (duck) and slightly sweet (sauce). One portion is just right, but two portions will be a bit sweet. The Caesar salad was also great, with a nice dressing. The green salads I've eaten at many places before would have made me feel like I was eating grass or tasted weird. At least this salad was a dish I could enjoy. Service: Really made me feel at home, I would give 6 stars. When checking out, the waiter also reminded me that the tip was optional, which is different from many restaurants. Most restaurant waiters added a 12.5% ​​tip by default without telling me. For this reason, I feel the service deserves a 12.5% ​​tip, and my dining experience here is far better than most restaurants.

The food was great but the reason why I'm even giving this review is due the excellent service that we received. We had the pleasure of having Adonis as our waiter and we couldn't have been more happy! Extremely friendly in a genuine way and outstanding service!

My food was delicious and my mocha was delightful! Another member of our party got the cesaer salad and it came with either incredibly pink chicken or incorrectly came with salmon on it (we never got an answer on what had happened) but they brought a replacement fairly quickly. Portions are small for the price, but quite delightful!

It was an amazing experiment, great atmosphere with cool lights, colours and music. Cool open kitchen and a bar. Wonderful service, quick and professional, Christian was a great server with his good knowledge and entertainment. The best duck meat we've ever have in Edinburgh. Good drinks and variety of beverage. Nice view of the city and super clean restroom. Decent price and good location.

Went on send lunch time while passing through Edinburgh. It's was a quick pitstop before heading for a ride. And what great pitstop it was. One of the most flavoursome roast I had in a long time. Every bite was amazing! But the Fried Mars desert for the finally took me to the food come zone. If you haven't had a chance to visit yet, go for it, before it's will be packed with returning guests and impossible to get a space.

This was a recommendation from friends and such a great one. The moment you walk in there’s a gorgeous ambience of relaxed chill with attentiveness. We ate breakfast on the terrace which was a cute little partially covered veranda where you can drink in the city along with your Bloody Mary. Food was excellent, service was personal and sharp with just the right level of attention to detail. Highly recommend this place for food with style.

My very first meal in Edinburgh and it was amazing! We can for breakfast, and I had the royal salmon waffle which was delicious. Coffee had sprinkles of chocolate and the orange juice was very refreshing. Before leaving, we ventured into getting the deep fried Mars bar, which was dangerously delicious. 🤤 must try even if on diet! The Duck and Waffle is my most memorable dish during my visit to Scotland. Growing up with chicken and waffle, I didn't expect how amazing this combination could be. The combination of waffle, fried duck and duck egg with maple syrup is sweet, savory, crispy, and rich. It's a must try if you are visiting Edinburgh. Our server, Christian, showed me the proper way to debone the duck. It was absolutely delicious. Our breakfast experience was wonderful. The service, atmosphere and food was perfect.

Look at their prices and remember one thing: they pay minimal wage for their employees.

I was excited to try here but unfortunately was disappointed. I dined alone as I was the first one in town. Ambiance is super cute and quirky. It was slow on a Friday lunch time. I ordered the duck Benedict. The food looked beautiful. Unfortunately, it was quite cold and the waffle didn’t was a little soggy. The poached egg had cooled enough that it was congealed. I could tell the flavors were there, and if it had been warm would have been pretty good. Then when the bill comes there is an added service fee of about 10 percent that was not disclosed on the menu. Shady. I hate when restaurants do that.

I had the duck eggs Benedict and it was amazing, I didn’t even have to use a knife, the fork cuts throw the medium cooked eggs and the tender duck meat gracefully, the bed of waffle was also excellently cooked and completed the dish, great symphony between the ingredients. The service was very welcoming and the interior of the restaurant was elegant, it was just a little bit empty but I visited at 9:30AM so it is expected. Would recommend for breakfast.

Myself and three friends came here for lunch - we pre-booked a table. This restaurant is quite bougie and a little bit expensive for what you get - I had the set menu for lunch and the pork brioche sliders for a starter and the mussels for the main which came to £24. My friend had the Scottish breakfast which had lots of bacon on it as pictured in the video. Our waitress was a little bit cool and standoffish with us. We didn’t order drinks and had tapwater - which was provided to us, but we were kind of made to feel that we didn’t belong there - that’s the vibe we got. In the toilets, hand dryer was not working.

Friendly stuff, the only dish I will recommend is duck and waffel

We took the order after we seated. But after 40 minutes, nothing served! We asked the waitress they said they made a mistake and they didn’t put any order for us! I am so disappointed for the service! We visited in the morning, they were not busy at all! Not recommended at all!

The food was very average. Entre of bacon wrapped dates, while tasty enough appeared to be overcooked but cold in the middle. We had a side of broccolini that was charred on top but not hot and presented in a very oily humus bath. The duck confit was tasty but dry. Given the relatively high cost of this restaurant you should have food that was prepared only once, not these twice cooked offerings. Also, the beer was not cold. They charged £9 discretionary service fee that we were not informed of so hardly discretionary. Overall, very poor.

Visited Duck & Waffle on Friday evening and left amazed with the level of service and hospitality I received. Our waitress, Natasha was the best and she took good care of us throughout the evening. Food was excellent, drinks and cocktails were great! Would definitely recommend!

The duck and waffle was amazing! Best breakfast we’ve had on our entire Europe trip. The duck was so flavorful and crispy and such a unique breakfast choice.
