Poor quality tea, fresh juice was definitely not fresh, avocado was also just poor quality. Overall just really poor quality food although people there are friendly.

Stunning experience with very nice welcoming waiters. Perfect portion sizes. A tiny bit on the ever so slight blander side but everything else made up for it.

The atmosphere is perfect. Lots of dining spaces and the decor is really unique. There's a main dining area with different eating places around the main dining area. The staff super friendly and attentive. They've done a great job in maintaining the place. The restaurant is 2 years old but feels like it's just opened. Perfectly situated in heart of Edinburgh and easy to get to and accessible friendly (step free access from both entrance on the street or from within shopping centre) Dining experience was good. Only giving 4 stars because I would've loved to have the the full waffle (like what they used to do!) Rather than a half waffle. Duck was enjoyable but felt like I had more cripsy areas than soft duck meat. Overall enjoyed the experience. Will I be back again? Probably with a group of friends for brunch....would be good to see what else to try on their menu

Their proposal of waffles with duck confit is very original. You can't miss their Angus tartare. Also worth highlighting is the service and kindness of our waitress Sofía.

3.5 Average creative food The duck and waffles are a little sweet. The duck flavor is still a little bit but not very strong. The tenderness is not good. The combination of duck and waffles and omelette is more gimmicky. I don’t think the flavor mix is ​​that amazing. Raw beef salad and Caesar salad are both OK, neither bad nor amazing.

Great place to start my long foodie weekend in Edinburgh

We had an early dinner at the Duck and Waffle in Edinburgh on Boxing Day. The meal was nice and the service was good and we had a nice long walk after dinner and then had an early night because we had a 7 am flight to Norway the next day. My best friend was extremely ill that night. She is a nurse and she knew right away she had food poisoning. The only thing that all three of us did not eat and that she only ate was the duck as I am vegetarian and my husband had the chicken. I have never seen her so ill and luckily after two or three hours of being violently ill it seemed whatever was making her sick had passed and we were still able to get our flight although it was touch and go for a little bit. That evening she wrote to the manager who seemed very concerned and kept asking her if she was sure it was food poisoning which she was and after several back-and-forth emails he promised to send us a voucher for a free meal at the London Duck and Waffle which is where we live. He passed this job onto someone who did contact us once saying it would take several days to sort this but since we have had no contact from him I have tried to get a hold of the Duck and Waffle in Edinburgh several times about this and basically we are being ghosted. I am extremely disappointed and although they seem concerned at first, they obviously are not bothered and are not interested in compensating us fot a very very bad experience. It definitely was the duck so if you order that be careful.

Good food but I think it's more about the experience than the food itself. Was the food good? Yes. Would I pay what I paid for what I ate? No. The potatoes, you can just save them, they charge you for the water by the way. The duck is better than the chicken. You're going to come out well-eaten, but for 4 dishes and two more potatoes at £40 it didn't seem like good value for money.

Had breakfast here - the duck and waffle, eggs and avocado on toast and the fruit bowl were absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant, very attentive, especially the guy who took us to our table, Alvaro who kept us topped up with water and a man who we presume to be a manager who we saw talking to everyone and generally being really friendly and enthusiastic. Only one minor gripe is that we were here when it was very quiet and they sat people quite close to eachother (I get it, lots of places do it). It was no big deal but the table two over from us were quite loud. Visiting Scotland for only for a few nights we wanted to use our time for the best places to eat and this didn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend!

Fantastic food and lovely staff and one of the best live singers I’ve ever heard playing at just the right volume. Our server Alvaro was a true gentleman and the whole experience was superb. Definitely recommend.

Went for breakfast and were not disappointed. I had the Duck Benedict and everything was absolutely perfect. Never had a better waffle. Slightly doughy inside, crispy on the outside and just scrumptious. The combination with perfectly poached eggs, hollandaise and sriracha really worked. Has a bit more of a lounge bar feeling to it. Staff friendly and helpful. Not cheap but worth it for us.

My girlfriend and I booked a table for New Year's Eve, and we're especially glad we did as the outdoor hogmanay events were cancelled. We were glad we did, as this helped us to not be too disappointed at what we missed out on: The food was absolutely incredible, and the staff were very helpful, friendly and polite.

Extremely trendy spot in the centre of town. Great decor with a strong duck theme throughout the restaurant and the menu itself. The food was amazing, as were the staff. Highly recommend the veggie option of their signature dish, but the entire brunch menu looked delectable. Bonus points for having sparkling water on tap. It's the little things!

The food was delicious with a great variety of starters, mains and deserts. Such a cool place with a great ambience. The service was impeccable. It was an incredible vibe and I seriously recommend not only if you’re near the shopping centre but if you’re in Edinburgh.

We couldn't find the opportunity to go during our trip to London, but when we saw that it was in Edinburgh, we were glad to visit it. The staff was very attentive and the food was delicious.

Cute themed restaurant with a pretty creative menu. There was an abundance of staff all helping to check in, clear tables, and deliver food so that runs pretty seamlessly. The decor was super quirky and fun.

I was seated at around 11:15am at the bar with the understanding that my friend would come and join me in about half an hour. I was left alone for about 20 minutes before being approached for my drink order. I asked for a glass of water and, after informing the bartender that my friend would not be coming and checking that it was ok for me to dine alone at my current seat, ordered a Queen of Scots. I sat nursing my drink for the better part of an hour on my laptop (free wifi!! though you do have to give your email, full name, and bday for access) before I started getting upset. Two parties of 5 had come and gone and I'd never received my water or was offered a food menu. I'd honestly be ok with slower service, it happens all the time when restaurants are short staffed or busy, but the dining room was clear and other tables around me seemed to be getting their orders in just fine. I finally got the attention of a passing server about an hour and a half after being seated and asked to order some food. In my ample down time, I'd already searched for a copy of the menu online and knew what I wanted, which seemed to surprise the server who attempted to bring me my menu. Normally I wouldn't be so rude, but I'd arrived hungry and had only gotten hungrier. I got my food 2 hours into sitting there. The food runner had to circle back before setting my food down because no one had brought my utensils. On the plus side, my drink was good, though maybe not entirely worth the price tag, and my duck and waffles lived up to its hype, with perfectly crispy confit leg, a well salted egg, and a sharp, but sweet mustard maple syrup. The flavors were well balanced on an honestly straightforward waffle, though I don't know that I'd wait 2 hours for it again. I do think my dining experience was unique to my circumstances and whatever the bartender might have been doing at the moment, but being unattended for 2 hours was too much. I'd planned for an 1.5 hr brunch at most and having it turn into a 3 hour affair because of inattentiveness and miscommunication was upsetting. I honestly considered complaining in person but I'd spent too much of my morning there already, so I just went through the motions of my meal as fast as I could. My hunch is that there might have been some miscommunication between the server who initially took my order and the rest of the FOH staff about whether I was dining alone where I'd been seated or if I was waiting on a table for a larger party. However, if an increasingly listless patron has been sitting there for the better part of 2 hours and no one has bothered to do much more than the give the table a few stares, I'd at least have my team check in.

Visited yesterday morning with my partner and had an amazing experience! A special thank you to our server Tatum, she was very attentive and made our experience 100% worth it!! Was sceptical of having duck and waffles for breakfast but the recommendation was needed! If we go again I only hope that the service can be matched!

Partner booked us here for a 2 year anniversary dinner, the food was amazing, albeit theres a chance we got mildly (me mildly because I only had a little bit, my partner was a lot worse the next morning) food poisoned by the mussels, hoping it’s just a coincidence because the rest of the food was amazing. We told out server Grant it was our anniversary (not hoping for anything, he had asked us) and he was acting like something was going to happen but suddenly he stopped being the server for our section, which was weird. He was honestly such a great server and made us feel so welcome as he was friendly and professional. After he got moved from our section a few of the staff that were monitoring our section of 3 maybe more tables came over, although they were lovely Grant was a truly amazing server. Might go back, the food was amazing, the price tag was very large (but a rare treat for us), so maybe for our third year we’ll go back.

Visited last night to celebrate our engagement, service and food was incredible. Victoria, our server was amazing and the host too. Will definitely recommend.

Got a cappuccino, fries, lemon meringue waffles and a fruit salad. All were absolutely incredible. Service was great and the place looks amazing.

Waited 30 minutes for our 6 cocktails order , made inquiry about our order was told on there way not very friendly. Food order was served, mains had no sauce or veg as they were told allergies was garlic and they had no alternative to accompany the mains??? They were very rude and argumentative in explaining that no alternative was available. The worst service and food I’ve had for some time in a restaurant.

We came to Duck and Waffle to celebrate with my family. As we were a large group, they allowed us to use the whiskey room after reserving with a deposit. The restaurant is just located outside/ near to the entrance to the shopping centre and has a great atmosphere with the lights and open whisky bar. The whisky room is great with a TV that can be linked to phone to show pictures. The only negative about the private whisky room was that it heated up quickly! The staff were attentive and friendly with them showing to out seats and taking drinks orders quickly - and giving several useful recommendations! The only downside was that overall the food was lacking. The Harrisa Cauliflower tasted okay but felt that it could have used more time to cook and soften up - further more, the turkey main was very average alongside the plum pudding. So all in all, great atmosphere and service - the food was lacking.

Or son enjoyed it but not somewhere I'd go with a group of adult friends. Food was nice if you have sweet tooth but expensive for what it was. Thought the discretionary £22 service charge for three of us was a little cheeky too (especially as people's plates were cleared when others were still eating at the table 😶).

Was really exited to visit the duck and waffle however the speed of service and lack of apologies from the staff put a pin in the experience. We waited an hour and a half from when our reservation began to recieve our main meal, we were asked if we wanted another drink once which was 2 hours into the event. I appreciate it gets busy in a restaurant and am always happy to wait however would like some sort of apology or recognition for waiting that long. The food itself was good for the most part, burgers had some soggy bottoms but that's a personal preference 😉. The atmosphere was nice however the two tables sat either side of us were also complaining about the food itself and the wait times, which didn't help the evening. (Particularly didn't help that one of them had their drinks comped despite waiting for less time). All in all, would go back on the hope this was an off day.

Lovely breakfast and staff. Not been to the London one so can’t compare to the original however, this is a really good welcome to the Duck and Waffle “chain”. Almost feels wrong calling it a chain but they have 2 and heading to 3 so guess that’s only fair. I had the Scottish breakfast and was lovely. One egg slightly over poached so not as much lovely yolk to dip across the plate however, was still lovely. Ignore the fact was a breakfast, I’m on holiday! But the 3 cocktails were lovely too. I had the biscoff old fashioned, low country and the take a bow. All amazing I’d come back when here again and also can’t wait to see the London one

Had an amazing visit. Wanted to try it after going to the one in London. The team were fantastic. Exceptionally friendly and the food fantastic. Will be going back. We had the foie grass, the cauliflower starter and the burrito ravioli.

Food & srrvice was great, we visited twice in a spam of 4 days. Service was great, Javier (server) was excelente to us. He also speak spanish, wich make our time even better.

The food and service were very good, especially from Javier, who advised us very well on the menu and also served as our tour guide. In my opinion, a highly recommended place if you visit Edinburgh.

Came here last night for our 5 year anniversary and had a lovely evening, food is well portioned, decently priced for the city and the staff were extremely friendly. Would 100% recommend it here if you find yourself in Edinburgh!

All front of house staff were excellent, particularly the manager / maitre’d. Fantastic service and the food/drinks were outstanding. Atmosphere fantastic and the live musician was great. Look forward to coming back soon.

Un *Insert profanity here* believable. Unreal. Pork belly. The burger. The truffle fries. Hit after hit after hit. Reasonably priced for two people I’d go so far to say cheap. The decor is on another level. Classy, unique. Loved it.

Yummy yummy I had mussels 🦪 (Scottish mussels to be more specific) and there was a lovely lady who I think is Canadian, and her name is Tatum! Tatum is so kind and helpful, so smiley, chatty and friendly! Pretty much all of the (mostly men) working here are good workers! The mussels were also very tasty and there was also a very tasty sauce! （*＾＾*)

Duck and Waffle offers something delightfully different, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was simple, fun, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious—a creative twist on classic dishes that hit all the right notes. The wine list, however, could use a bit of fine-tuning. The top-end selections were amazing, the middle range felt overly dominated by heavy Bordeauxs, NZ Pinot Noir. The service was a standout highlight, made even more memorable by our lovely server—a Venezuelan neuroscientist, no less! Overall, Duck and Waffle is a great, super stylish, spot for something out of the ordinary—definitely worth a visit!

Genuinely surprised how unique the dishes are. We arrived knowing this place could be special, but did not expect how good the food will be. The food is like a mix of American, European, and Asian tastes and experience. The Duck & Waffle, and the Pork Ears are awesome.

As a frequent visitor to Edinburgh, I regularly walk by Duck & Waffle, but had never been in to dine, until this morning. The place had a very modern, clean aesthetic, with a welcoming ambience. I know dining alone can occasionally make people feel anxious, but I felt very comfortable as a solo diner. My server, Christian, was the right level of attentive - never too many questions, but always to hand when I needed anything - which also greatly helped. I ordered the Scottish Breakfast, with scrambled eggs, and was not disappointed; the eggs were cooked to perfection - buttery and smooth, seasoned well. The bacon was crisp, and the sausage was juicy. Really enjoyed the cheese scone, too. And the baked beans were had a lovely tang, and a hint of spice, that helped elevate them from a simple side. I would definitely recommend Duck & Waffle to those of you looking for a sophisticated yet easy breakfast dining experience in the heart of Edinburgh.

Very disappointed in our recent visit to Duck and Waffle. After having such a good experience on previous occasions this recent visit left a bitter aftertaste and it wasn’t the food. Customer service needs work. Won’t be recommending any more and won’t be returning.

Some quotes from our walk home: "Not even a restaurant in China has made me this sick that fast, and ive been to some dirty restaurants" "I'm really close to throwing up" "Even the truffel tasted stale" DO NOT ORDER THE TRUFFEL RAVIOLI, it swims in a pool of oil, undercooked badly once, when returned still undercooked but we were too hungry and ate it, regretting that badly now. You will pay £25 for HALF A WAFFLE and one egg and one duck leg which you have to debone yourself. But was lovely. Service and atmosphere is great, our food came before our wine did so speedy cooking. We understand why the customer relations team is having to work hard.

Good atmosphere and we were really excited for a meal but after waiting over an hour for it we were disappointed. The food was tasty but cold and for £75 to end up with basically a cold sandwich I wouldn't recommend it. Not a great first meal in Edinburgh.

Went for Sunday roast for a birthday. The chicken was not cooked. Waiter shown food but it was shrugged off. Food came out cold. Was also charged for £20 of other items which weren't ordered. These were however refunded when it was raised after we had paid. I dont normally like to complain unless something significant happens or if theres many problems with my experience. I was disappointed with duck and waffle.

Like having dinner in a disco. Style over substance. 12.5% service charge is a joke. Ask for a coke and it's a tiny 200ml bottle... Particularly entertaining was the floor manager who was like Jason Statham if you'd ordered him on Temu. Overpriced, trying to hard. The place to be if you have money but no class or taste.

A Full Review of Brunch at Duck & Waffle: Location: It's located in the St. James Quarter. You take an elevator up to the 4th floor to access the restaurant, and the elevator is huge—perfect for a wheelchair or pram. It’s a great spot to meet for brunch or lunch, then do a little shopping afterward. There are lots of great shops in St. James Quarter! Vibe: They definitely spent $$$$ on the decor! The vibe is really cool—I'd describe it as upscale chill. Food: The most important part of the review. Here’s what we ordered: Apps: - Corn ribs (6/10) – The BBQ sauce is really sweet, and it's a bit of a messy dish, but they do provide hand wipes, which is nice. - Bacon-wrapped dates (10/10) – expensive but delicious! Mains: - Duck & Waffle (7/10) – A little gamey, and the egg was too runny. - Dry Aged Beef Burger (10/10) – GREAT burger! - Chicken & Waffle (10/10) – Delicious. Sides: - Tenderstem Broccoli (8/10) – Good. - Honey Baked Carrots (10/10) – Really good. - French Fries (10/10) - Salty, crispy goodness. Dessert: - Deep-Fried Mars Waffle (8/10) – If you're into ultra-unhealthy desserts, this one’s for you lol. I didn't try the Mars bar or waffle, but that hazelnut ice cream is fire. Had a lovely dinner here with superb service and an exquisite atmosphere. The set menu was both incredibly affordable and delicious and so were the drinks.

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Staff were fantastic, with our server Alvaro going well above and beyond to look after us. He was a great host, guiding us through the menu and offering advice on popular options and combinations. The rest of the team that night were also fab, including other servers and the front of house.

The atmosphere was very hip and friendly and the staff really made me feel comfortable including my 4 year old who really took a liking to the friendly waitress! I did not have the duck and waffle (feel I missed out here) however the lamb and the fish were really tasty so no regrets. Food was a bit on the pricy side but overall worth it.

Trendy restaurant that’s located inside a mall. Came here for dinner on a weeknight as a friend had a good experience at the location in London. While the service was nice, the food was a bit disappointing. They did have a set menu for fringe fest as well as their normal dishes. Tried the duck and waffle, and thought the meat was tasty, it was on the small side for 25 pounds and also a tad too salty. During the dessert, the strawberries and cream dessert was good, although for the sorbets, there was a mix up with my friend’s order so we had to sort that out. Overall, it has a nice ambiance but the food was a bit mixed.

Alvaro went above and beyond to make our babymoon/anniversary special and even brought us something that wasn't on the menu when he heard I wanted it. Absolutely lovely place, the fried mars bar is very unique!

We had dinner here last week as a group of 4 and really enjoyed our experience. The staff were really great and managed to find us a good quiet table by the bar as all other main tables were booked (which was fair enough as we were a walk in on a Friday night!). We had our little dog with us and the staff were super nice and brought him some water and some snacks to keep him happy. The food was delicious, including the Duck and Waffle main, which was really good. Overall, it was a great experience - thank you to the team!

This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. The food was incredible and the level of service exceptional. From the moment we arrived the host asked for any dietary restrictions and made note to pass onto our servers. We were provided with an allergen sheet of the full menu that showed which dishes could or couldn’t be adjusted based on our restrictions. Every single restaurant should have this!! The staff were attentive and it was a great atmosphere too. Definitely would recommend and will be back!!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had, a delicious cocktail, enthralling aesthetics, excellent service and all around great vibes. We had the house made bread (too hot to touch when it arrived! 😍), broccoli, pork belly, and the duck and waffle. I drank the Queen of Scots which was a perfect sipper with just a little heat on the finish. The look of the place is so cool and was paired well with fun music— which is great because breaking out into a little happy food dance might be in your future, too.

I have been to the Duck and Waffle quite a few times, and I only noticed now I haven't left a review! I absolutely LOVE this place and I recommend it to anyone who would like to try delicious food, immerse in state-of-the-art décor, and enjoy excellent customer service. The reception and waiting service are exceptional, and they all go the extra mile to make your wishes come true. The food is different from any other restaurants I have tried in really creative and scrumptious combinations. At this stage, I have pretty much tried the whole menu, and nothing has ever disappointed to this date. I'll be back again soon!

Duck & Waffle is a great concept , with a sister restaurant in London. I enjoyed the brunch fixed price menu and at £29 it was amazing value. The venue is on the 4th floor of the shopping centre and you arrive via the brightly coloured lift. Great cocktails and brunch all day, what's not to love 😘
