Best cup of coffee I’ve had in Scotland, and I’ve had a cup somewhere every day for 2 weeks. Friendly service. I wish they offered a larger size. Delicious.

Flat white and Long black. Coffee is slightly acidic but leaves a nutty aftertaste.

Stopped in on a whim after a day of walking around the city and hiking Arthur's Seat. Got an iced latte and was pleasantly surprised that the espresso was the exact roast and flavor I prefer. So many cafes serve very acidic light roasts that don't work as well in milk based drinks, so I found Santu's perfect for my palate. Liked it so much I picked up some Santu beans at another Cafe later in the day.

Coffee was excellent. However do not be fooled by the pictures thinking it's a place to sit and enjoy a cup - it's mostly takeaway only. There is only a single seat and a bench, enough for two people to sit. If you're lucky and they aren't in use you can use them, but in our case they were taken. No visible restroom you could use either. What's odd is behind the counter there was an entire unused portion of the coffee shop completely empty. Maybe seating is coming later? Regardless, while it didn't scratch our "sit back and relax after a hike up Arthur's seat" itch, it was the best coffee we had in Edinburgh so far.

Excellent coffee, lattes, and pastries. The coffee shop is smaller, so it is a good place for take away. There is a small sitting area along the window if you would like to sit a while. The quality is great!

I love this place! They have properly good coffee, fresh pastries and the loyalty system is so cool- an old fashioned punch card machine :)

I am sorry for the owner of this cafe, mainly for leaving someone as rude as the person left in charge (Monday 25th of March at 13:30pm). She was clearly not the owner of the place and judging by the attitude and tone of voice she was talking. She didn't give a damn about anything. My fiance and I sat down for 1 min and had to leave due to her terrible attitude. Customer service is everything for us so definitely not coming back there. Ami

The coffee seems to be a very light roast but unfortunately was too bitter

I did some research on coffee shop near Royal Mile and found Santu with its Flat White. The concept is very unique and brings a very warm welcome gesture. For sure will come back to try their pastry.

It's always the small and subtle coffee shop that has the best roast, had a lovely flat white made to perfection, you can taste the quality and the barista makes it to the perfect temperature

We come to Santu every week as a reward after doing Holyrood Parkrun. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly, and they have a wee area for sitting in that's really cosy. The coffee tastes great and they use Brose oat milk which is local to Edinburgh - some of the best oat lattes I've had in the city! I love the loyalty cards too! I'm forever losing loyalty cards so having an option to keep it in the cafe is great, and being able to stamp it like a timesheet is a fun concept!

Our favourite coffee in Edinburgh ❤️ This is our go-to coffee whenever we're near Holyrood. The barista is always super friendly and the coffee itself is fantastic. Also makes you feel good supporting a local business and for not getting a starbucks next door 😉

Decent coffee but first greeted by “Door!! ” and the barrister pointing after accidentally leaving the door open!! should’ve walked straight back out after service like that! Very impolite would not ever come back

Happened to be the closest coffee shop to where our bus dropped us off on a rainy day, at the end of the royal mile. Went in on a whim and left satisfied with the best flat white we've had all week long in Edinburgh. The cinnamon danish is very good too

Short visit to Edinburgh and popped in here for an Oat milk Latte. It was great - good quality coffee beans, properly made latte with a nice microfoam. It is about 50 metres away from Starbucks - they have more customers and that's a shame because Santu do a better tasting coffee. Highly recommended.

I did a quick coffee Google search while wandering the Royal Mile and wanting to warm up. Santu had great reviews for a good reason. Service was friendly and prompt and my cappuccino was so smooth with perfectly roasted beans. So delicious.

Але вони були чудові, в красивому посуді, приготовані привітним баристою. Поки ми сиділи в закладі, багато людей заходили по каву і всіх їх обслуговували з посмішкою. Достатньо дивно читати, що комусь не вистачило місця тощо.

Santu coffee surprised me and my girlfriend with a very nice and deeply flavored americano and a tasty almond crossaint. Quiet and small coffeeshop with a scenic view. A great place to relax. Love it!

Lovely find in the centre of Edinburgh, nice music, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. I found that the espresso was quite sharp, so it is good if you like those notes. The pastries were also incredibly well cooked, and although I went at the end of the day, they still tasted fresh. I would highly recommend a visit if you're nearby

Lovely little coffee shop near Edinburgh's heart. Stopped by to grab a cappuccino in the morning and had to return the same evening for a bag of beans and a pain au chocolat. Wonderful tasting single origin coffee from small, independent producers. The barista was very nice and was happy to talk about the coffee served. Must go for specialty coffee enjoyers!

Excellent coffee, ace pastries, cheap, friendly independent. Limited seating inside, which is the only reason I can think of why ANYONE would go down the road to a chain coffee store. Highly recommend Santu. Just be aware - card only, no cash.

A wonderful hidden gem for coffee aficionados! The owner has a direct connection with farmers whom he sources the beans from. Quality takeaway coffee with cheery staff. There isn’t any seating at the shop, but there is plenty outdoor seating near the Palace/Parliament.

I was so happy to come across this wee place. It's right next to Starbucks but I always try to support smaller businesses so went in. I really hate to say it, especially after reading all the lovely reviews but I was extremely disappointed ☹️. The first impression is great. It's really stylish and clean. And the service was very friendly. But there were no chairs, only one tiny uncomfortable looking area in which only one group of 4 or 5 people could sit together. No good if any kind of back support is needed. There were only 2 choices of cake, neither of which I fancied, and the americano coffee I was given was more the size of an espresso. I left with my thimble cup thinking, "Well I'm sure this tiny coffee will be gorgeous to make up for it all". However, it was so bitter I actually didn't drink it. 🤷

Disappointing - the coffee was too hot, and thus burnt and bitter. (Updated) Hi Washington - we dropped by for coffee on the 17th, in the afternoon, and we had a flat white each (so two flat whites). It just simply was too hot - the espresso base was very bitter.

We were lucky to come across this coffee shop on our way to Holyrood Palace. We needed our morning coffee to get us all the way to arthur's seat, a great find, great latté and a very tasty espresso, extremely welcoming and friendly, we strongly recommend. P. S. Best brew I had in Edinburgh. Choice of beans is limited but very well selected, both from Brazil. The owner takes very good care of you and always has a small choice of pastries to choose from. Small gem for the lovers of pour over coffees. Also tried the nitro coffee, a cold brew made with a nitrogen machine, very refreshing. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful place, beans to please any level of coffee snobbery, helpful and friendly staff. Anyone who goes to the Starbucks next door instead needs to ask some serious questions about their life. This is a real asset to the Royal Mile. I'm slightly biased because the owners are friends, but I was so pleased to visit it at last - I'm so proud of the job they've done and the contribution they're making to Edinburgh and Brazil. Inspiring and delicious. GO THERE!

Quite nice place for takeaways, limited space inside. The service is really good at the brew quite specific but definitely worth trying. No toilets.
