Amazing food and really attentive and friendly service. I wasn't planning on eating South Asian food on my trip to Edinburgh, but I'm really glad I did because this place is simply incredible. All the food we ordered was great but the chicken momos were our highlight!! Tej and Surendran were awesome!

Really wonderful place and have visited multiple times whenever I feel I wanna treat myself. They serve wonderful tea in the start free of cost, which is amazing especially after my study sessions. The Chef is especially amazing as he makes sure to ask and customise food based on our preferences, especially for people of different nationalities and meanwhile explaining the changes made. 10/10 recommended!!!!

Such an enjoyable, authentic experience all around. The service was wonderful as was the food. The Piro is so good and pairs perfectly with a tall, cold Cobra or Kingfisher lager. Mote than worth the time to check it out.

Succulent dishes, but strangely rice is not included in the price. All these supplements ultimately make the bill excessive, especially since the server also failed to warn us that for 3 people we were ordering too many nan breads by mistake. Other than that, the service was pleasant.

Found this gem while visiting Edinburgh. The food is amazing, tastes like home. The service and people are so kind and take care of you with a smile. We ordered dal makhani, bhindi masala with some naan, it hit the spot. Highly recommend for the best south asian food in town!

Delicious food with the friendliest service in Edinburgh. Walking in the door we were immediately greeted by a smiling waiter and throughout our stay every staff member smiled, chatted and joked with us. Clearly a good team that enjoy working together delivering good service. The food we had was great, among the best curries I’ve had in Edinburgh. We also kept being given little tastes (“amuse-bouche”) which added to our delight. This place is a gem. Maybe not the fanciest place for a date, but if you want delicious food in an authentic and friendly atmosphere you won’t beat the Gurkha.

Food so good we came a second time in under 24 hours I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gorkha Bar and restaurant , and I must say it was an incredible experience. The owner, who is also the head chef, is one of the most humble and hospitable individuals I have ever met. His warm and welcoming personality made the experience even more special. We loved the experience so much that we revisited the same place again today. The food is a true reflection of his passion for authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked, from the fragrant curries to the soft, freshly made naan. You can tell that each meal is prepared with great care and attention to detail, capturing the essence of traditional flavors. What stands out most is how genuine the owner is in making sure his guests feel at home. He personally checks in with each table, always with a smile, eager to ensure that everyone is enjoying their meal. If you’re looking for authentic Indian and Nepalese food served in a cozy and welcoming environment,it is a must-visit.

The food takes really long to come, no idea why. We were the only 2 tables at the time of ordering and the first thing took 30mins to come. Which is weird because they said the momo was going to take Mango lassi sucks The complimentary bite of pakora is fine Chef's lamb curry is alright Nepalese ckn curry with bone is pretty decent. lasuni kukhura is meh, very restaurant style and safe Mixed Biryani was avg, very plain Paratha was passable Naan was quite sad, very dry Momo skin was quite bouncy, filling was generous but underseasoned Nepali rice(bhuteko bhat) was basically biryani, was abit hard, the rice that came with the lamb curry was better Complimentary chai was pleasant

Absolutely amazing food… was missing the authentic indian taste so much but the hospitality and warmth of the staff made it a beautiful dine in experience for me and my family. Tej ( head chef ) was wonderful with the food and his welcoming nature. A must visit for anyone who’s looking for good Indian/ Nepali food.

Really awesome food and service

The food and service were very good! There was also a greeting from the kitchen and a spiced chai tea at the end. To avoid false expectations, you should take some time with you. The dishes are freshly cooked and depending on the situation (we had dumplings as a starter) it takes a little time. The chef also came by every now and then and asked whether everything was tasty. Ambiance could be nicer, but the service and taste definitely make up for it. We will be back on our next visit to Edinburgh Price was just over £60 for two people with starter, main course and dessert

First and foremost I want to point out the super friendly staff! The food was very good. The tikka masala was a bit too sweet for me, but that is only my personal taste. The tea on the house in the end was a little highlight 😊 Would definitely recommend going here !

An out of the way hidden gem of a restaurant. We found it by accident and can highly recommend a visit, from the attentive staff to the amazing food and atmosphere. We shared our starter and main, glad we did as I don’t think we would of managed one to ourselves.

Delicious food and friendly service. Everything was great—appetizers-Momo chicken and Piro. Entrees-Chicken Korma and Tika Masala with rice and garlic naan. All very tasty. Would definitely return.

We arrived late in the evening but the staff and manager were very friendly and welcoming. We even asked for a dish not on the menu and they happily obliged. Highly recommend it for a simple tasty Indian/Nepalese meal.

Such a great curry house. The staff were some of the friendliest I've come across - really lovely setting, nice music, quiet and attentive waiters. If U guys really want to enjoy Indian & Neplease food , this is the best place in town. You won't be disappointed at all. Even you will get the chance to drin unique beer & cocktails from land of Himalay Nepal.

my experience of dining at Gurkha bar & restaurant was a pure bliss. the ambiance was culturally rich with soothing nepali music playing in the background. We ordered thukpa , momos , rice pudding, tandoori breads, paneer butter masala and tadka daal all of it tasted flavourful. the highlight was the staff at the restaurant - mr. surendra who served us , so welcoming and warm, such nice hindi he speaks as well , really commendable service. the head chef mr teej took in consideration our preference and was quick to make the food customised to our requirements. 10/10 recommended by me if you're looking for a rememberable dining experience.

Went to Gurkha during our trip to Edinburgh, Food was very tasty.. Loved.. Momos, dal tadka , naan.. and almost everything we ordered. Surender was very hospitable and Chef Tej made sure the food was prepared as per our liking. We highly recommend Gurkha for Indian food.
