What a lovely place and a warm welcome on the mat. We asked for 'home cooking style ' and our vegetarian dishes were perfectly spiced to our taste. The chef obviously takes pride in his food, and so there are none of the shortcuts with below-par ingredients that you find in many places. We are set to become regulars here. Highly recommended.

What can we say? This is a real wee gem of a Nepalese restaurant. Catering for the more familiar Indian dishes found up and down the country, but also offering terrifically spiced and aromatic Nepalese dishes. Service was excellent, attentive but never overbearing. Hot towel anyone? A real find. Fed four lads (three of which were rugby-hungry) no problem. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing spent a fantastic afternoon there with my husband daughter my son in law and grandson. Best restaurant I've been to the chef serves delicious food best curry I have tasted and such a variety of food all so tasty. The staff make you feel so welcome . Had a delicious meal tonight, service was very friendly and speedy, and the food was absolutely delicious. We started with a little bite complimentary, before having the chicken momo. I had a fantastic Nepalese curry and we also were given some nice spiced tea to end our meal. I look forward to another visit!

Really wonderful place and have visited multiple times whenever I feel I wanna treat myself. They serve wonderful tea in the start free of cost, which is amazing especially after my study sessions. The Chef is especially amazing as he makes sure to ask and customise food based on our preferences, especially for people of different nationalities and meanwhile explaining the changes made. 10/10 recommended!!!!

Succulent dishes, but strangely rice is not included in the price. All these supplements ultimately make the bill excessive, especially since the server also failed to warn us that for 3 people we were ordering too many nan breads by mistake. Other than that, the service was pleasant.

Found this gem while visiting Edinburgh. The food is amazing, tastes like home. The service and people are so kind and take care of you with a smile. We ordered dal makhani, bhindi masala with some naan, it hit the spot. Highly recommend for the best south asian food in town!

Delicious food with the friendliest service in Edinburgh. Walking in the door we were immediately greeted by a smiling waiter and throughout our stay every staff member smiled, chatted and joked with us. Clearly a good team that enjoy working together delivering good service. The food we had was great, among the best curries I’ve had in Edinburgh. We also kept being given little tastes (“amuse-bouche”) which added to our delight. This place is a gem. Maybe not the fanciest place for a date, but if you want delicious food in an authentic and friendly atmosphere you won’t beat the Gurkha.

The food takes really long to come, no idea why. We were the only 2 tables at the time of ordering and the first thing took 30mins to come. Which is weird because they said the momo was going to take Mango lassi sucks The complimentary bite of pakora is fine Chef's lamb curry is alright Nepalese ckn curry with bone is pretty decent. lasuni kukhura is meh, very restaurant style and safe Mixed Biryani was avg, very plain Paratha was passable Naan was quite sad, very dry Momo skin was quite bouncy, filling was generous but underseasoned Nepali rice(bhuteko bhat) was basically biryani, was abit hard, the rice that came with the lamb curry was better Complimentary chai was pleasant

Food so good we came a second time in under 24 hours I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gorkha Bar and restaurant , and I must say it was an incredible experience. The owner, who is also the head chef, is one of the most humble and hospitable individuals I have ever met. His warm and welcoming personality made the experience even more special. We loved the experience so much that we revisited the same place again today. The food is a true reflection of his passion for authentic Indian and Nepalese cuisine. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked, from the fragrant curries to the soft, freshly made naan. You can tell that each meal is prepared with great care and attention to detail, capturing the essence of traditional flavors. What stands out most is how genuine the owner is in making sure his guests feel at home. He personally checks in with each table, always with a smile, eager to ensure that everyone is enjoying their meal. If you’re looking for authentic Indian and Nepalese food served in a cozy and welcoming environment,it is a must-visit.

Absolutely amazing food… was missing the authentic indian taste so much but the hospitality and warmth of the staff made it a beautiful dine in experience for me and my family.
