Should have know soon as I got starter but then sliced horrible chicken in main meal which was apparently chefs special!! Avoid at all costs!!!!!!

I had the pleasure of dining at Gurkha Bar and Restaurant last night, and I can confidently say it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I ordered the Chicken Pathia, and it was absolutely incredible—perfectly balanced between sweet, sour, and spicy, with tender chicken in a rich, flavorful sauce. Every bite was packed with depth and warmth, making it easily the best Pathia I’ve ever tasted. Beyond the outstanding food, the service was just as exceptional. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we were well looked after without being intrusive. Their genuine warmth and professionalism added to the experience, making the evening even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for top-quality food with fantastic service, I can’t recommend Gurkha Bar and Restaurant enough. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Just dropped in one sunny evening. Very friendly staff and good authentic food. Some nice extra touches - a small lamb kebab as a complementary starter and a cup of chai at the end of the meal.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The chili garlic chicken was exceptional, but the chicken momo, lamb chyau masu, garlic naan, halwa, and rice pudding were all fantastic.

I came here for a Mother’s Day lunch with my son and daughter and had a fabulous time. I was treated like a princess by the staff and given complimentary extras as a treat for Mothers Day. The food was delicious and I will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food and experience was fantastic. Thank you for a lovely lunch !

First time visiting this Nepali/Indian restaurant, receiving good service, food and company.

My partner and I went here last night, as our original planned venue was surprisingly overbooked for a Monday evening. This proved very much to be the definition 'happy accident'. I opened up Google Maps for a minute and was surprised I hadn't noticed this place before, nor the high average review score (something I usually lock-in on). Regardless, the first bite to the last was among the best South Asian food I've had. The hospitality is also just at that nice spot between attentive and kind, but not overbearing. The small flourishes, like the amuse bouche bhaji, the magic hand towel, and the spiced tea digestif, were very welcome, too. My partner had never sampled South Asian cuisine before, being from the Americas - now I can't seem to stop her asking about cheese naan now. From my own standpoint, the beer list and pricing is on point as well to compliment a curry.

Update: We made a return visit and all of our original positive impressions from earlier. Love their spicy tea, too. What a lovely place and a warm welcome on the mat. We asked for 'home cooking style ' and our vegetarian dishes were perfectly spiced to our taste. The chef obviously takes pride in his food, and so there are none of the shortcuts with below-par ingredients that you find in many places. We are set to become regulars here. Highly recommended.

I recently dined at Gurkha Bar and Restaurant in Edinburgh, and it was an incredible experience! We arrived just before closing at 10:55 PM, and the staff were so welcoming, graciously waiting for us while we enjoyed our meal. A huge thank you to Chef Tej, who made our visit unforgettable with his kindness and attention to detail. The food was absolutely delicious, highlighting the rich flavors of Nepalese cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to return for another fantastic meal! Thank you, Gurkha Bar and Restaurant!

We had an excellent dinner at Gurkha. We were a party of 14 visiting from the USA. The food was superb and the service was even better. Would definitely recommend.

Disappointing compared to the reviews. I chose a plate with "tender lamb" that was dry and way overcooked. Very good sauce and naan though If you don't care about the quality of the meat and how it is cooked that is good. Otherwise to avoid

I’m from Nepal and this is some of the best Nepali food I’ve had here. You should really try the food here, ask for Tej and ask him for recommendations.

Having visited as the last dinner stop during our Minimoon, we were far from disappointed. The staff greeted us and were able to accommodate despite not booking. Food arrived at a very decent pace and we were treated to an appetiser and Nepali tea. Portions were more than fine with us sharing a rice and Naan. We can definitely recommend the Chicken Dhansak and Rogan Josh.

We were a bit dubious as this restaurant was a bit off the beaten track and seemed quiet (although it was early on a Tuesday evening) The food was very fresh and tasty and the service was excellent. I would recommend. To anyone in two minds , give it a go, it was very enjoyable .
