Delightful and just off main roads.

They look casual but their food is quite authentic. Sushi was much better than expected. Neta (fish) was thick and big. Black cod was nice, too. The bowl of rice wasn't that great but the rest was good.

Great Sushi quality for the price you pay. Good service. But they don’t really speak English. So you need to tray to explain what you want to order. But they are good servers and again good quality.

Had read somewhere that this place had authentic Japanese food so had to try it out. Service was amazingly quick and the food was delicious! Honestly enjoyed everything we ordered, would definitely purely come back here to eat. The upstairs is small so we were placed downstairs (not an issue as it was nice and quiet) but when we went to try the toilets they were… not clean/usable so that was the only downside. Great food, great prices, just pee somewhere else!

I’ve been eating here for years, including before it was rebranded to Nala. Something has changed. Last two takeaways below par. They now have a Chicken Soba on menu which was clearly pre-cooked and microwaved. No flavour, really awful. I thought some previous takeaways a blip but they need to get their act together.

I was arriving to the restaurant during the opening hours. Unfortunately they didn’t except me and told me the restaurant will open in 40 minutes. The restaurant was crowded with people and it was far from being closed. I came to the area specifically for that restaurant and had to find a different place to eat …

Usually I quite their lunch takeaway but this week I was so unfortunate, not only they gave me a miserably small portion, I even got a piece of plastic! 😞

Pleasantly surprised to find an authentic spot in the heart of London. We visited on a weekend and it wasn’t busy so we could pop in for a bento then back out to shopping!

I came here out of the usual to get lunch today and ordered the lunch special spicy chicken don. The waiter took my order but didn’t give me a receipt. Another waiter came around and said if my order had been taken, I should wait outside. When I asked for a receipt, they said they couldn't provide one. I accepted this and asked how long the food would take. They said 10 minutes. I waited for 20 minutes while others who ordered after me received their food. I went back inside and realized they hadn’t put my order through. When I asked again how long it would take, the person at the till responded, “It’s coming.” When I asked for a specific time, he said, “Do you want to negotiate with the chef? Can’t you see we are busy?” The customer service here is terrible. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, they were rude and dismissive. I walked out without asking for a refund, telling them to keep the money because the experience was so bad. It’s appalling that they couldn’t simply own up to their error and chose to be rude to a customer instead. Absolutely disgusting!

Taste good and reasonable price! Absolutely recommending NALA! When you enter the restaurant you can see a lot of Japanese dolls which makes the place feel so nice. When the miso soup and the rice bowl come, they don’t just look authentic but also real Japanese cuisine! Come and enjoy!!

Lovely food. A little bit cramped space

Honestly a gem of a place, so lucky to have found it. Undoubtedly the best quality japanese food I've ever had, the sushi was particularly delicious. The service is great and the people are lovely. It's also very atmospheric and cosy, can't wait to go again.

The interior is not spacious, but there is seating in the basement. Overall the food was delicious. The seasoning was just right and it was a pretty good meal.

Best Chicken Katsu Curry in the UK, I get it for lunch quite regularly. Price and portion size is great too. It also comes with a free bowl of miso soup. The restaurant is great, it reminds me of being back in Japan, the staff are so friendly and accommodating.

A small shop in the heart of picadilly circus. For its location the quality and value were similar to Eat Tokyo. Not the most fantastic, but definitely satisfied a craving. Would recommend anything with the pork katsu bc its huge

Small nice Japanese place next to Piccadilly Circus. Very tiny, but the food is nice and its not expensive. You’ll enjoy a nice meal, though, just hope there isn’t a very loud group next to you!!

Super recommended restaurant in the Soho neighborhood. The food is very well prepared and well priced, it is a quiet place to rest a little and eat well.

Good food, authentic and a nice intimate, low key place.

The worst service ever and very rude staffs especially the manager (tall man with black shirts). I walked in to the res and they told me to wait outside since my accompany hadn't come even I asked for seatings and I can order in advance. My friend was just 3 mins away. After 2 mins, they told me to leave since they was full with a very rude attitude. I asked them that we can wait but they just asked us to leave. Never come back!

Bad service and very rude staff

It's a tiny place near Piccadilly Street but the food is very authentic and good value. I was very happily surprised with my very generous size of katsu curry and lots of carrots in the sauce. You can hardly find a better katsu curry deal in London

I had both takeaway and dine in mixed chirashi. Both are much better than other chirashis I've had in london, and are both great value! The fish is really fresh and they have a good variety of higher quality fish. Takeaway (£15 Inc service fees) Only available 12nn to 16.30 all week. It comes with a miso soup.. last time, they didn't give me soy sauce.. so maybe have some handy at home! Dine in (£25 Inc 12.5% service fees) This bowl has much higher quality fish with salmon roe / ikura and fatty tuna and scallop. We were seated downstairs (small basement) and there wasn't much ventilation, so it could get really warm. There was an AC, but it wasn't on, and service can be hard to get. But it's worth to go just for the food! There's a 12.5% service charge

Great place for casual dining 🌟. Their menu has plenty of choices, with bentos front and center. Sushi, sashimi, udon, etc. all available. There is a special lunchtime menu with lower prices. I had the salmon bento which came with rice, salmon, chicken karage, gyozas, sushi rolls, veggies, and miso soup. The food was great, the gyozas were especially crispy, and the whole portion was just right. It's just a tad bit expensive at £20-£30 💸. That's central London for ya. Nala is situated close to bustling Carnaby St and Piccadilly Circus, but tucked away enough to avoid the crowd. A great choice as chances are there won't be any queues. Don't be afraid to give it a try 🍱. It looks much more atmospheric at night also, when the lights are on 🏮.

This is a very authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of London. I stumbled upon it with a friend and very pleased we did. Amazing food, lovely staff and atmosphere just like in Tokyo.

Waited 30 minutes for takeaway even though they said it would only take 10. Food wasn’t particularly nice and had very little chicken.

It is cute small place. Overall experience was okeish. Gyoza very good, sushi a little bit meh…i think rice was too soft. Service was great. I think to have some music might be helpful.

I had very bad experience there. The tempura udon I ordered had to send back. It had raw flour in the middle of the tempura. The udon wasn’t boiled properly, maybe microwaved first. As authentic Japanese Restaurant, it was very very bad, very very disappointing.

My favorite spot. I'm in love with the place, I'm in love with the food and the staff is very nice. If you can't go to Japan, this is probably the next best thing.

I passed by NALA one evening and the ambience from outside looking in really drew me in. You’re greeted first thing, which is very warm and welcoming. The menu has variety of options. Service was great. However, I was extremely disappointed with the food. The noodles lacked a lot flavour, and it was very greasy. When I asked if they had any options for sauces to add more flavour as it felt like I was just eating plain greasy noodles, they had no options available. Their fried shrimp tempura was 1/5. It was one of the most flavourless shrimp tempuras I’ve personally had. I think they’re frozen and they microwave them. They got served hot on the outside (not crispy) and colder on the inside. Overall personal experience - 2.5/5

Nice little place to go for Japanese food, food and service were outstanding, the eel was very tasty, menu was reasonable prices, will definitely going back soon.

Very cosy Japanese restaurant with excellent polite service,tasty food and nice relaxed atmosphere. It has two levels - entry and ground floor. I prefer the entry level. Not expensive for Japanese food in Soho area.

We were kicked out just after arriving at the restaurant at 7:15 pm. One guy told us that it was only delivery after a waitress invited us to enter.

Food is good, enjoyed the Nala bento (though could have been more generous with the sashimi portion). Only issue was Kimchi, which tasted oddly, and when I mentioned it I was told that there is nothing wrong with it 🙂 glad they still agreed to remove it from the bill though. Place is tiny and more comfy when it's less cold as there's no space for coats. Overall a nice little spot with quality fish.

Food was authentic, run by Japanese, great service, reasonable price highly recommended.

The food was amazing, presentation was good and the service was top quality, I would revisit and highly recommend the place to my friends and family.

J’ai pris à emporter donc je ne saurais pas dire pour le service sur place. Les quantités étaient toutes petites … clairement à ce prix là j’aurais préféré des sushis plus gros … et niveau goût clairement rien d’exceptionnel . Je ne recommande pas.

They also have many different sets of sushi and sashimi, giving us many choices with a good price! By the way, We really enjoyed this afternoon tea 🫰🏻🫰🏻

I have been to this restaurants for several times for its cosy atmosphere and authentic Japanese experience. But this experience ends today as my friend and I have ordered sushi, sashimi, spicy tarte and hot sake but we were rejected for service and were asked out as we are not ordering “The Main Food.” I felt disrespected and in some way discriminated by the pop up new invisible rule. We have ordered food for more than £30 but were still forced out of the restaurant? This is not understandable.

Perfect service and tasty and simple food. We really enjoyed the fact that it tasted homemade, which is very different from what you will get in any other restaurant in that area. We had the tonkatsu which was delicious and very well priced for the portion. Highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or dinner!

The food was not good at all, we had four different dishes and all of them were quite bland, especially the katsu curry tasted like some school meal and looked like it too. The only positive meal here was the miso soup. The ramen also tasted as if someone had thrown a bottle of fish sauce in it. On top of it all, discretionary service of 12% was added, and it could probably be read from the fineprint somewhere. Would not recommend this at all.

The Japanese restaurant features a comprehensible menu complete with descriptions and images, offering a variety of options such as soups, sushi, noodles, and rice dishes. My noodles Udon with vegetables were healthy and very tasty. It is a small and quiet restaurant which could be more exiting but the staff is kind and the prices are good.

Beautiful little Japanese restaurant with a nice vibe. Came in before a show and had the Pork katsu don (which came with a bowl of miso soup)-- generous serve, crispy pork, great sauce. Partner had the cucumber rolls and agedashi tofu (some of the best she's had). Shared a small bottle of warm sake and left impressed (and full).

Food is great and prices are fair. Very underrated restaurant which I have eaten at or had takeaway from a number of times now.

NALA is an unassuming eatery serving delicious Japanese food. There were several Japanese eating here and the food and drinks reminded me of my time in Japan. It is quite small, so either arrive early or be prepared to wait. I will come again.

Very disappointed in the food quality. For “authentic” Japanese it really was not good. The ramen especially was terrible. It was as if all the ingredients were just thrown together without any thought or effort to how the overall taste would be.

Lunchtime deals are good value but my last 2 visits were not good. Last week they ran out of rice and this week I waited over 40 mins for a Chirasi Don. I cancelled the order since it took them so long to prepare rice and raw fish.

Visited Nala hoping for a relaxing dining experience. However, the constant stream of people coming in for takeaways disrupted the ambiance. Felt more like being in a busy train station than a serene eatery. The food was great, but the atmosphere left much to be desired. Would appreciate a separate space or system for takeout orders.

A quaint little Japanese restaurant that serves authentic and fresh Japanese food at a reasonable price. Their takeaway rice boxes are a great deal too! I had their black cod bento and it was decadent.

A really lovely find. The food was fantastic. Each bite was better than the last. The donburi came with a delicious miso soup. The staff were attentive and friendly. I loved the decoration. There's downstairs and upstairs sitting, but still a small venue so you might want to book. I am looking forward to returning and making my way through the menu. The toilets were clean.

This joint does absolutely delicious Japanese food! We popped in late on a Saturday evening and had some salmon nigiri, the spicy salmon rolls, tuna and avocado rolls and a chicken teriyaki donburi. So quick and fresh, it was up there with the best Japanese food we’ve had to date. Great array of foods - we didn’t even get to the ramen or sides!

Nala is a small, 2 floored restaurant which served delicious Japanese cuisine. The waiting staff were very polite and friendly! Loved their attitude and felt very welcomed. The space is quiet and cozy, I felt relaxed to dine in as there was no disturbance during the experience. The food was tasty, with a fulfilling taste of the sashimi platter! The chicken gyudon was better than I had expected, portions were on point. Served with miso soup. With small tweaks, Nala can become better in terms of menu and options.

Incredible value at this part of town, delicious, authentic experience.

The restaurant is quite small and cute, reminding me of the ones I've dined at in Tokyo. There aren't many options for hot drinks, and they're all made from tea bags. The sashimi was reasonably fresh, but you could feel that it had just been taken out of the fridge. I was very disappointed with the seafood udon; both the waitstaff and kitchen staff were Japanese, so it should have been authentic Japanese ramen, but from the choice of noodles to the taste of the broth, it was all quite disappointing. I hate wasting food, but I couldn't finish more than a few bites. The prices were much cheaper than the average Japanese food price in London but I won't be coming back.

Service was quick and efficient and staff is friendly. Food tasted good and was reasonably priced for central London standards.

Have been visiting on and off for years, but our recent visit today has illustrated how quality has taken a nosedive. Sushi has turned average and waiters don’t seem to interested in being attentive whatsoever.

Slightly better than "It's OK." but can't give half star. Aged fried tofu delicate and creamy. Bibimbap stayed super hot for a long time. Chicken Katsu Don cooled off too quickly, especially given it arrived way in advance of my partner's dish. Staff pleasant. Price reasonable for the area.

Although the place is small, there are about 24 places on the ground and underground! So if you want to eat authentic Japanese food, you know the itinerary early in the morning and make a reservation early! Average spending £30-35 per person! A fried oyster is delicious! Hier, notre famille est allée à Chinatown après être allée au London Museum, nous avons donc dîné à sept heures avant d'aller à Chinatown. Quand je suis arrivé, j'ai découvert que c'était un restaurant japonais ouvert par un japonais, donc je me suis senti plus à l'aise. service de premier ordre! Mała japońska knajpka z szerokim wyborem dań różnego rodzaju miso, ramen, udon, soba, ryż, sushi itd. Herbaty, wina, piwa. Wystrój bardzo klimatyczny, obsługa bardzo sprawna. Boczna uliczka od zgiełku.

Best sushi’s and makis of my life! Really very high quality of fresh fish. Excellent rice too. The waitresses were lovely. The atmosphere was very nice and cosy. Will definitely come again during my next trip in London.

Excellent lunch at Nala, highly recommend. The food is authentic and very delicious, all freshly prepared. There are Japanese and Korean options on the menu, which suited us both very well. I immensely enjoyed my beef bibimbap which was packed with flavour and a variety of ingredients, and very filling! Lots of texture and flavour in the ramen too, and the salmon and avo sushi we shared was very morish. Highly recommend a visit.
