Naka Thai in Colchester

Only had few starters, mains & noodles but this is Thai food I have ever eaten by a mile. Would definitely come back again. Cocktails aren’t bad either…

Fantastic vegan menu, never been here before or even heard of it, but the 2 places we tried to go too were closed or no longer doing lunch, so we chanced a pop in and they had a great 3 page vegan menu. Staff super friendly and attentive, food just fabulous , draught beer , heating was on and it was a great lunch out . Highly reccomend this place vegan or not. Tonight went to the fantastic new location and still the best vegan Thai food in Colchester and a bit further afield. Visited again for my wife s 60th birthday, took guests and as always brilliant. Another visit , the staff just seem to get lovelier. We are now regular visitors and we love the food and staff and atmosphere here. New staff this visit but just as lovely. Latest visit was just brilliant, great food , place was very busy and staff and chef charming as always.

First time using Naka, went in for takeaway but have to say the restaurant looks lovely inside. Staff extremely polite and helpful. All very well presented. The food was full of flavour (albeit a little too spicy for me) and tasted nice and fresh. They make the effort to clingfilm the pots under the lids too so no leaks in the car (nice touch) 👍🏼. Car park is fairly small but the road it's in has plenty of space to park. Top marks all round from me

What an absolute gem of a place! The decor is stunning, and the staff are incredibly friendly, but nothing compares to the food! It is absolutely out of this world. Book a table, you won't be disappointed.

We had the set B meal. The starters were really good and freshly made unlike many places these days. All of the main dishes were really tasty and the flavours well balanced, in particular the duck in tamarind sauce. This is somewhere we will be coming back to a lot

Service was slow, rice brought out then 5 mins before a dish brought! Polite attentive staff, but dishes brought together please! Lovely food, tasty, well presented, but a bit pricey. Have had takeaways from here too, love that there is a good vegan menu.

Popular dishes like spicy basil chicken and green curry are delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with stylish decor. The staff is friendly and attentive, offering great service and advice on menu choices. Restaurant is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy delicious Thai food in a cozy setting.

Disappointing- food very disappointing and long waits between courses finished by a mega bill. Wouldn’t go again.

Food is excellent but..... The staff don't understand things fully when you ask a question. When the starting course is finished, don't take the cutlery off the plate and put it back on the table, issue new clean cutlery. Your drinks are overpriced. £6.95 for a pint of lager, I ordered lager shandy, half lemonade, half lager, you still charged me £6.95,when I questioned this, it was not understood fully and I got told, you order a pint, you pay for a pint. Food is delicious and priced well, just improve on the additional things and communication.

Great food and very friendly staff. Accomodating to food allergies and requirements. Location is convenient with parking but is a little odd going to a business park. But the restaurant itself makes up for the location in both quality of food and as it is very nicely decorated and has both indoor and outdoor space. Reasonable prices.

Great service, was quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Although we sat inside, the garden looked lovely. Extensive vegan menu. Many vegan options for starter and main! Complimentary prawn and rice crackers (these were served mixed together unfortunately, but enjoyed by the meat eaters).

Best place to dine in, and best food to order to take away. I’m just totally obsessed, love the red Thai curry 🍛❤️

Naka Thai recently moved out of the city to the outskirts of a commercial area. 15 minutes from the center. Now it has a free parking lot. Everything is new inside. The service is very friendly and the menu offers a large selection. spiciness, calories, vegetarian or vegan; Gluten: everything can be put together optionally. We would dine there again at any time.

Food is incredible but the receptionist may need to change her ’interesting customer service ’. After we told her about the wrong order, she immediately changed her kind attitude and ignored what I ask. After we asked a to-go box, she immediately clean our table. It’s hard to wrap the dish up without any spoon. Amazing.

Fabulous restaurant. Staff are polite and courteous. Service is not fast but that’s because the food is freshly cooked and delicious. Well worth waiting for. Would definitely recommend this place.

This place is a hidden gem. It's in a very odd location but it's done out very nicely and is welcoming. The food was amazing with so much choice that it will take a while to choose. Service was perfect as well, not getting hassled with every bite asking if it's okay. The prices are reasonable as well for the quality, we will definitely be back. Also they do takeaway if you're in the area.

This place always does wonderful Thai food. Pat has done a marvellous job over the years and continues to give great food and great service. Reasonable prices.

The food was delicious and the service was good. Unfortunately, and not the staff's fault, there was a lot of noisiy families the night we came so we got our food to go. However the food was excellent and we will be back another day.

The staff were very accommodating and polite. The food came quickly and was fresh, full of flavour. The atmosphere was brilliant, not too noisy despite it being Christmas time. The set menus are brilliant choices. Carpark anywhere abs everywhere. 5star well deserved

This place provides great food and the service is good but recently the drinks have become extremely expensive.All drinks are pretty much the same price at £7.95. Real shame as food good but with drinks it's now London prices. Also there automatically put on a 20% service charge . Be careful people the owners have become too greedy and will be losing my business and a number of others I know as a result

Couldn’t recommend enough. My partner and I tried Naka Thai after a friend’s recommendation, we have had take away numerous times, (Personally I would recommend collection, purely because it’s quicker ) delivery (this evening, wait time was about an hour and 20 mins) and even sat in when they were at their east hill location, and they never disappoint!! Having an allergy to onions makes eating out/having a take away very difficult, but here it is never a problem. The staff are all friendly, accommodating and the food is to die for! Thank you Naka Thai! We look forward to visiting your new location ☺️

Ordered on Deliveroo tonight for my first time ever trying Thai food. Food was absolutely delicious, the order arrived extremely fast and all hot! Very impressed and will certainly be ordering again.

Food is delicious, but variable (red curry sometimes hotter than the green?!). Problem is their deliveries - incredibly slow and they say five more minutes to get you off the phone and half an hour later, nothing! Don’t like people fobbing me off with nonsense. Also promised refunds for items that aren’t right and they never get processed. If you’re busy, don’t lie, just manage your customers expectations. Over 2 hours is too long to wait.

What an amazing place. Everything was to the highest standard. Food, service and the place itself. We are really pleased we found that restaurant. Will definitely be going back.

在英國吃過好幾間泰國菜，終於吃到一間比較最貼近泰國風味。因為泰國菜主要香料是金不換跟香茅，很多時在英國的泰國餐廳都省卻了以上兩種香料。所以，做出來的泰國菜立即非常遜色了。亦都很多時將貨就價，某些材料亦都省卻了，所以做出來的泰國菜不是預期中的好吃。 但這間泰國餐廳味道確是不錯，家人都說十分好吃。我們叫了兩碟Pad Thai ，一個紅咖喱羊肉飯，一個綠咖喱羊肉飯，還有一個冬陰功蝦湯。 Pad Thai 炒出來的味道剛剛好，不會太濕也不會太乾，亦都吃到泰國的風味，只是份量比較少。若果份量多一點，就會更加完美。 紅咖喱羊肉飯，紅咖喱味道十分之濃郁，帶有一點椰香味道。咖喱汁足夠，羊肉份量適中。 綠咖喱羊肉飯，雖然醬汁沒有紅咖喱濃郁，但有一點辣，但亦都非常好吃。羊肉份量同樣適中。咖喱汁亦都很足夠。 冬陰功蝦湯，酸酸辣辣，辣到剛剛好，味道非常好👍非常開胃。蝦的份量都算多。 這一餐泰國菜，令我和家人都吃得非常滿意開心😃尤其是紅咖喱，味道真的十分出色。👍回味無窮。亦都有推薦朋友，若果去開那邊，可以試一下這間泰國菜。👍👍👍

Great food, with a great level of flavour and spice and very good service. Naka Thai used to be my second favourite Thai restaurant in Colchester, but since moving out is now my first. They have put so much effort into the decor and menu since moving to The Hythe. Well done Naka Thai! I've been spreading the word in Wivenhoe and everyone who's been is very impressed.

Ordered at 7.20pm, told that food would be with us by 8.15pm latest. The food had still not arrived by 9.10pm at which point we cancelled the order. Appalling service. Very disappointed.

Superb authentic food and lovely service! Discovered this place by sheer luck - en route on the drive back to the midlands from Harwich, we’re looking for a place to eat and this was the only restaurant open past 9, so gave it a go. The food was so delicious, ever since that time, this has became the regular dinner place when in that area. This was my first meal in their new restaurant location and wow, the space is amazing. Love the wallpaper and the options to eat both indoors and outside. Food and service was great as always. The Thai iced tea hit the spot. My brother’s vegetarian drunken noodles were super! The coconut soup was also excellent. My dish (noodles with pork belly) had too much egg for my preference but taste was delicious. Serving potions were generally- couldn’t finish and so had a nice leftover lunch the next day. Totally recommended and look forward to checking out more menu options when visiting next time

We always enjoy our meals here, tonight was very good. The service is lovely. The meals are very tasty, I love the pretty garnishes on the side. There is so much to choose from. The restaurant was very busy and we knew many people eating tonight. All of them local. It's so nice to see local people making the most of this lovely facility. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and it's so nice to have such good quality cutlery and nice napkins. It's the nicest restaurant for miles. There is a very nice garden here.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I was expecting the Thai iced coffee to be made of sweet condensed milk - it wasn’t but still tasted delicious. Really generous portions of vegetables in their dishes.

We went on a Saturday lunchtime and were the only ones there so low score for atmosphere. But the restaurant and garden are very nicely done out. The menu was very expansive and the food was excellent. Reasonable prices. . Definitely want to explore the menu further.

Ordered a takeaway through their app. Should have been delivered between 8.30-8.45pm. It's currently 10pm and still waiting. Dont waste your time.

I never write reviews but this has offended me. Ordered a takeaway turned up faster than expected which was nice but wow this food was awful!!!! All the food was hot but very poor cuts of meat smelly squid and so very strange deep fried vegetables that cost £12.95 !!! Unfortunately we won’t be ordering again from Naka Thai truly awful experience.

What an amazing venue. Family dinner with excellent food and service, even with place packed out. Will definitely be going again.

Some of the best Thai experienced but let down by a few easy to remedy issues and inconsistencies. I've ordered and ate in on a handful of occasions. The positives: The curries are excellent in their flavour profile and the chicken satay etc cooked wonderfuly. Jasmine rice is light and fluffy. Portion sizes for mains are generous. The negatives: Let down by a few bits and pieces that seem unnecessarily skimpy. Spring onion and Cucumber provided with duck were severely lacking, why? The cheapest veg out there. Mixed appetiser for two, expensive for 2 portions of 3 different small items. Sauces turn up cold and seriously lacking. Small things, easily rectified would make this a great little restaurant.

My niece and her husband booked this venue for their wedding reception. Excellent food and accommodating staff. A day enjoyed by all.

Excellent new venue and so much to choose from on the menu. There are plenty of choices for everyone if your vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free. Outstanding food and amazingly fast delivery times. We ordered on Just Eat expecting to wait a while for delivery as we are in quite a remote location. Food arrived quickly and was excellent quality. Really impressed. Will definitely order again!

I loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. The quality of the food is good and the set menus offer excellent value for money. I enjoyed it so much I visited Naka Thai four times in two months.

First time at Naka Thai at the Hythe and it's been a few years since we last went to the previous location in town, but the food and service is still excellent. Star off for atmosphere, purely because we went on a Friday lunchtime and almost deserted. Will revise when we get back there on an evening.

Food really good and ample servings friendly staff, catered for our 13 year granddaughter very well no fuss

Needed an order for lunch time in the office for Thursday. Called on Tuesday to make sure they cover Maldon and everything was well. On Thursday, we were having difficulties placing the order( realised you need to be logged in) so we called the restaurant. Advised they don't take orders over the phone. Placed the order at 11.20 am for delivery at 1pm. Called the restaurant and we got confirmation that food will be delivered by 1.15pm. 6 calls and 30 mins later after hte promised time food is 10mins away. When you have lunch in the office with work partners this is not the greatest experience you can have. Is it frustrating that they've not been honest as we made so many calls to ensure they can help out. Needless to say won't recommend.

2 hours late and the food is still not here. Phoned the shop 30 min ago and said that the food already left the restaurant. Bunch of liars! Never again

Really good, portions were really big and the staff were really kind and accommodating for our part of 13, even though we hadn’t told them in advance. Everyone really enjoyed the food too. Atmosphere and aesthetic was was really nice too. Definitely recommend. Lots of vegetarian options and the duck and chicken is halal too :)

I'm not always moved to leave reviews, but I have to say this was a wonderful dining experience with my family. Nice interior, relaxing music, great crockery and the food was fresh and authentic. The service was also superb and my children (teens who really love Thai cuisine) gave it five stars!

We had a delicious lunch here today. I have various allergies and the staff were so friendly and carefully explained the dishes and altered them so that I could eat them. They also do loads of gluten-free options for those who need it. We had a great meal, the portion size was good, and again, the food was amazing. Thank you very much
