Worse £75 I have ever spent on some slop called food should have followed the table of 10 and walked out.Wake up chef no one wants cold mash and for an Italian chef he needs to go back to learning his trade again.

We were looking for somewhere to eat and didn't have a reservation. We ended up here and am damn glad we did. The food was amazing and very under priced. I had a traditional Italian cold meat selection with pickle for starters and the mushroom ravioli as a main. The wife had a tuna pizza with olives and again this was so nice I actually helped her finish it. I was so surprised with the food as the décor is very tired and in need of a revamp almost to the point of being run down. This is one of those little gems that doesn't look much inside or out but serves the best food. If it were mine I'd be inclined to closed the doors for a refurb and raise the prices once open again. People really should be raving about this place.

Love this place, the staff are super friendly, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. I often bring my Dad here for lunch, who is disabled, the atmosphere and ambiance is just perfect - so as to not overwhelm his senses. Charming little place that is a true taste of Italy! :)

The food here is sublime, exactly what you'd expect of a traditional little Italian place. The food is inexpensive; the service is personal and has a strong family feel; and the decor is spot on. From the quaint red and white tablecloths, to the intimate touches on the walls and the cozy interior design. The main waiter/owner is really friendly, singing as he goes around recommending the tiramisu (which was sublime). It would be an excellent date place and it's quality through and through, can't recommend it enough!

Lovely and cosy place! The wonderful atmosphere and bubbly owner (I think he's the owner lol) made us feel really welcome. I had a seafood pasta and my husband a pizza and the good was indescribably tasty. We're definitely coming back here.

A cosy little traditional restaurant that stands tall in front of High Street names, it's longevity is proof of the quality. If you are in the area and are considering one of the bland restaurant chains, cross the road and avoid the frozen pre-prepped fayre. Unless you have a handful of supermarket vouchers and a childrens party, of course... The tiramisu is particularly good.

Hubby took me here on Saturday evening as my surprise belated Valentine's meal as he works away. It was my 3rd visit but this time was soon disappointing. The olives were soaked in olive oil and salt that it took our breath away. My sword fish was cooked beautifully for half of it but the remainder was a solid lump whichI couldn't even cut with my knife. My desert was Tiramasu which was full of frozen water which poured down my throat. I complained to the waitress who said it was the caramel but as I'd eaten some of it...I definite know the difference...plus the fact that it was swimming in cold water on the plate. My hubby was obviously not happy as it was such a special occasion and after paying the bill of £78 said he will definitely not be going back there anytime in the future.

Food all freshly prepared by a chef with an obvious passion for his craft. Small but cosy restaurant space in what appears to be a converted house, giving it a lovely homely feel to match the warm welcome from the front of house staff. Excellent!

I think that this is the best family run Italian restaurant this side of the channel or the world even! Truly Home style - this is a small establishment that you should love as soon as you entrer. I have experienced Italian food first hand (having been married into the family) and otherwise in Italy, Canada and the United States and I can assure you that you will not find more authentic ambience or a better cullinary experience anywhere. Go here!

I have been here a few times now and absolutely love it ! The staff are very friendly and helpful and we have never had a bad word to say about the food. If you like authentic Italian food then I would highly recommend it here. I love that it isn't commercialised like all the other Italian restaurants around.

Great, traditional place. If you get tired of the chains across the road, try this family owned restaurant. Not cheap, but good, honest food, and the money stays in Colchester!

Went with our daughter and her fiancé for Sunday roast. Quite simply the best roast beef dinner I've had in quite some time. Fantastic atmosphere and the staff were spot on. Excellent beer recommendation from the barman....and all at a very reasonable price. Will definitely return on our next visit.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. As we took our dog, we sat in the room where guests are allowed with their dogs. It was very cosy and although separate from the main bar area we didn't feel forgotten. The food was tasty and could be described as a home cooked meal. Will go back to try their Sunday lunch which was recommended.
