this used to be good but they have gone way downhill, very overpriced for what you get, and really not worth it. When we complained about the portions they just laughed at us. This is one of the many places that is unlikely to be here this time next year unless they improve.

Have always enjoyed food from nahling, on this occasion my family were most disappointed. On collection the order had to redone as it gad egg added, we had requested no egg. Also asked for a little spicy, my son who tolerates spicy, couldn't eat it. Disgusting service to say the least. Will not be returning.

Fancied a Thai meal with my daughter. We had both spent some time in Thailand and really loved food. She wanted to try this place but hadn't quite got round to it. Food was good. However, the all-over impression was not. Before we ordered a young girl popped and asked if she could use the toilets; the very sharp Waitress told her no. This made me feel quite shameful and embarrassed for the girl, Thai's are usually much more accommodating and welcoming. Our food was good but my daughter had lost her appetite at this point. We asked to take-away the remainder of her dinner and were told we had to pay another £1 for a box to take away our own food; she explained that they do this in the West End. I was quite shocked at this point and reminded her that we were in Finchley and NOT the West End. Before leaving I went upstairs to use the toilet and wash my hands; there was nothing to dry hands with. I pointed this out to the waitress who was quite miserable by that point. Paid the bill, no tip, and was charged £2 for take-away box!! Altogether a disappointing evening - will NOT EVER be going there again. MAI OW....

Had a very nice meal here. Unfortunately we did not ask for the wine list and just ordered a bottle of house wine like we have done previously. When we got the bill we were shocked to see that the house wine cost £23.50. We never pay that and there seems no reason for such an extortionate mark up. It wasn’t even a very nice one. Don’t think we will be back at that price. Will go to a thai further up where the house wine is £13.95 - and it tastes better and the food is just as good

Really nice food here but I wouldn’t recommend it as a restaurant to eat in at. There is no vibe in there, they need some music! The tables are old and wobbly and it was really cold, a lot of customers had their coats on the whole time!

This is our restaurant of choice locally that we can all agree on and enjoy as a family. Our family favourites are prawn pad thai, prawns with garlic and peppers, beef with basil leaf and beef and black bean. We order both takeaway and also visit the restaurant every couple of months and it's always reasonably priced, fresh and tasty and I can't understand some of the harsh reviews on here!

Helpful efficient service from a friendly waitress followed by food that was freshly prepared at reasonable prices.I tried the spare ribs as a starter and they fell off the bone.Given that Nahling took over from the Old Europeans many many moons ago and is still there must mean that they are doing something right.

Nahling has been serving up Thai food in East Finchley for getting on for 20 years and the standard is always good. It,s not super fancy but the prices are reasonable and the people who run it are friendly and helpful. In the summer there is a nice garden area that makes a nice change.

Having eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world and tried Thai all over London, Nahling always delivers great value for money and delicious food both in house and takeaway. Friendly family service. They just need a fuller dessert menu and they would be perfect. Highly recommended.

I've eaten here a handful of times as it's close to my flat. The food is fine, nothing special but the service is pretty bad, lazy, not attentive. As the only customer in the small restaurant this lunchtime I had to wait for the waiter to finish his lunch he was eating behind the bar before I could ask for the bill or have my plates cleared. I'll probably be back as there's not all that much near by and the food is ok. If they didn't make you feel like an inconvenience for dining in their restaurant the rating would be better.

We have been to this restaurant many times over the years but this was the first visit since it had moved a few shops up.The friendly greeting had gone (the man did not smile once and seemed so annoyed to be there).Tom kha gung was delicious and I could have just had a bucket of this. The Pad Thai lacked lime (they gave me lemon), coriander and bean sprouts. Whilst I acknowledge everyone has their own recipe, these are commonly found. The tamarind scallops were really good although the sauce was really strong. Scallops were cooked perfectly.

Nahling's food was ok. Nothing blew me away. Plenty of choice on the large menu which tends to worry me when a restaurant only seats about 30 people. The soups were good, but nothing was really outstanding.

I completely disagree with the previous negative review of this Thai restaurant. We have been coming here for over three years and have always found it to be one of the best places in which to dine out in East Finchley. The food is consistently very good, well cooked and thoughtfully prepared. The choice is certainly better than most Thai restaurants and the value superb. They offer a decent selection of wines with a glass of excellent Merlot at £3.50. There are few restaurants in London where you can get wine of this quality at such a reasonable price. The previous reviewer who provided a one star rating clearly does not appreciate any of the above factors. Where local businesses are trying to make a real effort for its customers, I am keen to support them and to be positive.I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Previously, whenever we thought of having Thai food there was only ever one restaurant that would enter our minds. Nah Ling. You were always guaranteed not just good Thai food, it was exceptional. If you hadn't booked on a Friday or Saturday evening you would be in for a lengthy wait such was the popularity of this place. We hadn't been for a couple of months and made a booking for Friday evening. We should have known something was wrong immediately as the restaurant was virtually empty on arrival. The next thing we noticed was that the staff had all changed. Gone were the friendly faces and generous greetings. Replaced by a surly bunch who acted as if they didn't really want you to be there. Their attitude was typified by one member of staff who was sitting at a table with a laptop who had a sneezing fit. She sneezed at least 8 times, loudly and repetitively without covering her mouth. She then proceeded to sniff constantly, again loudly at 10 second intervals. If we hadn't already ordered, we would have left. The worst was to come. The menu looked the same as on our previous visits and we ordered some old favourites anticipating the delicious feast that we had become accustomed to. The food was truly awful. It had lost all the finesse that separated it from other run of the mill Thai restaurants. The fried fish that we ordered tasted like it had been cooked in one week old oil that you would get from a bad chip shop. Here I am writing this review at 4.00 in the morning as my wife and I are both awake with dodgy tummies. We are so disappointed. Not just at last nights experience but that we have lost an old favourite. An old friend that always guaranteed a great nights ambience and dining experience. Reputations are earned with sheer hard work over many years and consistency of standards. Unfortunately for Nah Ling those standards have plummeted across the board and their reputation is well and truly gone. Those empty seats show that we are not the only ones that won't be going back again.

Went there with a friend, its only a small place with bench style seating, imagine it would feel crowded when full, there were about 10 people there and it was 'cosy'.We had Tom Yum Khai soup and spare ribs, the soup was suoerb, really tasty, ribs were OK, but nothing special. For mains we had the Red Duck Curry and Chicken with Garlic and Chilli (would have loved the Soft Shell Crab, but they didn't have any). Both these were really good and tasty. All tiogether, with a bottle of house white, it was £45.The staff were all friendly and the service was good and fast, all in all a good experience. Will go again

Went for my birthday party and so went in a large group. We were given the upstairs room which was laid out in a very strange way (you had to walk past the toilets to get to the room). The food was ok. Some starters were nice but others were pretty poor. I can never understand why asian restaurants insist on boiling their meat, but rubbery chicken is not at all nice. I always go to a restaurant and I am impressed when the food is to a good standard and presented well. This was mainly the latter. Though that being said our bill was not out of this world considering that we had a few drinks. Should the changes be made to the food I would like to go again and give them another go as I personally enjoyed my main but my starter was just ok.

Save your money. GF and I went there today, after seeing the place full on a number of occasions. We went at 7:30 pm place was empty except for two other people. We were sat at a table away from main area next to the front door. The table is on its own and felt as if we were waiting for take away. the view?...we faced a big council dustbin on the right and a bus stop on the left. Across the street a nasty looking brown 70s block with an Iceland in fornt of us. Right then I should have left. The food arrived GF bbq Duck, me prawns, garlic, onions. I asked the waiter if my dish was sweet(had sugar in it) he assured me no.My dish arrived in brown watery sauce and guess what?...yep it had sugar in it! And adding insult to injury..the food was luke warm.My plain noodles, were not plain fried like almost everywhere in the country, but were boiled, wet and looked really unappetizing. Should have left....GF s duck? not crispy but dry and stale. covered with tamarind sauce and stuff so we would not notice.+ 2 rice steamed, a coke and a jasmine tea....£22.75!We could have gone to Four Seasons China Town, Mr kong or even ordered from Gourmet Oriental. Cheaper or same price but far better food. As other reviewer has said even Basil in kilburn is better(not a great place but better than here and cheaper). The locals seem not to know good tasting food.

I get takeout from here weekly. It’s my favourite local place. Their curries are very aromatic, have enough meat, and the best I’ve tasted locally. My usual to go to is the Green curry but sometimes I venture outside my comfort zone and not disappointed. I find the flavours are better Thursday - Weekends, rather than start of the week.
