We went to Nagomi for my wife’s 40th birthday. We had a wonderful experience. Portia was a fantastic host as were the other staff. We ordered so much food, everything was well presented and incredibly tasty. We particularly liked the corn dogs and the spicy Korean chicken. Portia engaged the males of our party in a chugging contest where we bizarrely had to head butt the table before we chugged the drink. The food did not disappoint and you won’t come away hungry. We will definitely come back and look forward to enjoying the experience of Nagomi again. The complementary Sake was a nice touch at the end. Cheltenham has a brilliant choice of fantastic restaurants and this is right up there, not just for the food but the whole experience.

Well taken care of by Portia and team. Food was delicious. Difficult to pick a favourite from the Korean fried chicken to the live grilled pork and beef! The glass noodle stir fry also deserves a mention. Oh, and the plum cocktail too. Yum, just yum!

It's a really lovely place and a very different dining experience with some dishes like the hotpot that cooks in the middle of the table while you eat and makes the broth even richer. The owner Portia, is an amazing person and goes the extra mile to make your experience really good. And just strictly rating the food 9/10.

We are usually regulars at another local Japanese restaurant but after walking past one day and the lovely smells coming out of this restaurant we decided to give it a go and book. We were not disappointed! We didn't try the "grill your own" options and opted for a mixture of noodles and sushi. Absolutely all of it was bursting with flavour and very well cooked. Staff were great and very knowledgeable. Especially the manager who could not have been more helpful and friendly, it's clear she's really proud and passionate about her restaurant and so she should be! Can't wait to go back and have recommended our friends and family visit too. Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable.

Great food, super friendly staff and didn’t even need to wait long. We came in at 8 for a table for 2 on a busy Friday night and was given a table at the bar which was actually really nice as we got to chat to the staff. The manager said she wasn’t having a great day, but she wanted to make sure everyone else was having a great day which is so kind. She was honestly the nicest person I’ve met in a while and her hospitality was amazing. Plus who doesn’t love free soju shots :) The food was very tasty, good sized portions, I think we left feeling full afterwards. The atmosphere felt incredibly authentic, you could really imagine this in Japan or Korea. It was just great will definitely come again soon!

Absolutely fantastic place! Never been to a Korean Grill before, so wasn't really sure what to expect. But the food was wonderful and the staff were so helpful and friendly, explaining it all beautifully and were so positive and welcoming. Will be recommending this to everyone I know!

Terrible experience Took half an hour to get a table then was impossible to get food or drink in less than another half an hour as the staff ( all 2 of them serving) seemed to be 16 yr olds on job experience! We left really hungry after 40 mins to get a lovely Sri Lanka curry just around the corner- we waited 5 mins for food! After getting a reply back from the owner who basically said it was impossible to wait the time I specified- i’d like to add some detail. We booked mid week during the Cheltenham literature festival so it was busy. We waited as specified for a table, then the waiter seemed unable to serve us drinks as couldn’t find a piece of paper to write our order down on! After another half an hour and chatting to others there before us who were also waiting for food- we left- with no drinks or food. We can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get any! I’m glad the owner took my comment about the waiters as a compliment- it wasn’t!

What an amazing restaurant! Portia and her staff are great, very friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic, well priced and delicious. Great to see such a wide variety on the drinks menu with a great selection of Sake and Japanese whisky. Thoroughly recommend, next time you consider going to Wagamama's walk a few steps further down the road and go here instead.

Yesterday, when I came here, I had a lot of food, and I had some food to burn and some other food.

Visited yesterday and had a great meal! The staff were lovely; all the food we had was incredible, we had a mix of pre-cooked and then the cook yourself platter B, all the food was seasoned well and it was a nice balance of food that was prepared and the enjoyment of cooking some of it yourself.

Food is absolutely incredible and the woman who owns it is so lovely and friendly. She made my sister’s birthday very special. Highly recommend!!

Our favourite restaurant in Cheltenham - our son loves it and always requests Nagomi. The owner is so accommodating and always makes time to come and say hi and speak to him. Great sense of theatre and tasty food - the drinks are an adventure too!

As most have pointed out, manager is absolutely lovely and the food tastes great. However, sorry, but have to knock a bit off for the whole “whatever you order that the chef cooks will come as soon as it’s ready” thing that so many restaurants are starting to do. It’s very lazy; half the skill of being a chef is timing things to be ready together so guests eat *together at the same time*. (Most) Families and couples don’t eat separately at home, you time it and sit down together. Certainly don’t see why it should be different when paying extra for someone else to cook. Not a problem with the “bbq it yourself” items obviously but with the chef-prepared things yes. So for that reason alone sadly doubt we’d come back.

There really needs to be more than 5 stars the service was amazing and the food was soo delicious. Oh and also anime, anime and more anime. We had a small lunch the atmosphere was really chilled there were manga you could read while waiting if you wanted to. I will definitely be going again and again.

The minute we walked into Nagomi, we felt as if we teleported to Japan. The atmosphere was inviting and fun! We didn’t have a booking so we were happy to sit at the bar. Which ended up being an amazing experience, as we got to chat to the owner and she gave us some free soju shots. She also recommended some exquisite spicy chicken to go with the Japanese 🇯🇵 whiskey 🥃. We are definitely going back and next time we would love to try out the indoor bbq! Great value for money and omg the FOOD!! Great atmosphere! 🙌🏽

Nagomi in Cheltenham, recently hosted an event during Cheltenham Food & Drink Week called “Korea Night II”. The evening kicked off with a welcoming shot of Soju and a lively introduction from the owner, who encouraged us to relax and enjoy the night. The five-course menu, paired with drinks, was a selection of bold and authentic Korean flavours. First, we were served mandu (kimchi dumplings), crispy on the outside and bursting with spicy, tangy kimchi, served with a delicious chili and garlic oil, this was paired with a refreshing Soju Citron Highball. Next was chimaek (fried chicken with beer), featuring Seoul-style fried chicken—crispy, succulent, in a perfectly balanced sweet and sticky sauce. This was accompanied by a crisp, cold Kirin Draught Beer. The owner who hosted the event jokingly told the room that if we didn’t eat it with our fingers and have a good time she would kick us out and double our bill. It was easy to comply with her request, I really enjoyed the chicken it was a different preparation to what I’ve typically had but it was so tasty and matched great with the Kirin. Jjampong (spicy seafood noodles) followed, a rich blend of seafood in a fiery and aromatic broth that was the perfect amount of spicy. This was matched with the playful Milkis cocktail. If I remember correctly a ‘Milkis’ is 3 shots: Beer, Soju and Sprite - the owner finished off the theatrical cyclone presentation of the drink at our tables, and it was fun to see and to try the drink. The table grill was a hands-on treat, with pork, chicken, sweet potato, cabbage - served with lettuce leaves to wrap it all in. Some people apparently don’t see the point in going out to dinner and cooking your own meat, but they should get over themselves. I love the shared experience and fun of sitting around with friends and doing it. It was lots of joy and laughter as we turned the meats and veggies. The range of sauces at the tables made the BBQ flavours and dipping in tangy, umami-packed sauces a great way to finish the main courses. We ended the evening with bungeoppang (a fun looking fish-shaped pastry), filled with sweet red bean paste and this was complemented with a glass of Makgeolli, a traditional rice wine. Then the night concluded as it started with another shot or two of Soju. The word “Nagomi” is a Japanese word, the meaning of the word encapsulates several concepts in different cultural contexts. The most common interpretation of “Nagomi” refers to harmony, peace, and balance. It’s about creating a sense of calm and tranquility, both internally and in relationships or interactions with the world. I definitely got a sense of this during the meal from the harmony achieved from the food and drink pairings. The meaning of the word also includes the notions of balance and comfort: this involves finding balance in life - whether in relationships, personal well-being, or mixing elements like ingredients in cooking. It’s about blending elements harmoniously to create a whole. The dishes like the jjampong and the sharing of the table grill achieved these human connection components for our group. In certain contexts, “Nagomi” also conveys a feeling of relaxation or ease, often used to describe a peaceful environment or state of mind. The humour and fun of the night, and all the Soju, certainly helped us ease into a relaxing night. As we headed out into the evening, hugging our friends and saying happy goodbyes, we wandered home relaxed and very well fed. The last thing to be said is that all of this cost £45 a head. It was ridiculously good value for money and I would have paid more for all that we enjoyed. Our friends have been to the restaurant before and rated it, this is why we went to the event. I’d recommend heading in for a fun evening of shared experiences with friends.

First time eating here and have to say, a bit of a mixed bag. The manager is great, lovely lady who is very welcoming and a joy to speak to. The food, unbelievable! Loved eating this way and the quality was spot on. The service, left to be desired. Unfortunately it took a while to take our food order and we had drinks missing until we chased. We had a little one with us and they needed changing but when asked where the baby change facilities were, given a vague answer and not shown. All in all, some improvements need to be made in terms of service.

Popped in for a lunchtime special (only £10) with a couple of colleagues was really impressed, food was tasty and quick, limited but good choice for the special tho we could have opted to try something of the main menu. Will be back

By far the most fun and atmospheric place I have ever eaten at! The owner is amazing and made us feel like the most important people in the room! Especially myself as it was my birthday! Staff and service was above and beyond! From all the Japanese “interactive” drinks to the manga books and wall art scattered around the restaurant YOURE truly transported into a relaxing, entertaining and pleasant world where you don’t want to leave!

Came to celebrate my birthday with my family almost 2 weeks ago now. the service and food was exceptional! staff were very friendly and helpful and took the time to explain the different dishes. the food was delicious and presented beautifully l. We brought in our own cake and staff provided us with plates and cutlery for it and set up a fun drinking game to celebrate. I will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend.

Absolutly fantastic place! We have been several times and had hot pot (japense and korean style) and grill, as well as lots of the side dishes. All fabulously tasty and beautifully presented. I'd recommend looking up both styles so you appreciate which expeierience is best for you. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Such a wonderful experience, we will no doubt keep coming back to make our way through the wonderful menu! 🥰

Good food with nice portions and flavour

It was my first time at Nagomi last night. The food was absolutely amazing and the portions were super generous - so even though it’s a bit expensive it definitely is worth the money. The only thing I’d say is that service was a bit… lacking? My partner and I just felt a bit ignored most of our time there… We had been sat a the bar for the first 20 mins waiting for a table which is absolutely fine but normally I would expect the bar staff to take our drinks order whilst we wait for our table… but every time we tried to catch the servers attention they would look somewhere else. The manager lady was very kind though and gave us vegan recommendations so I appreciate her efforts in making us feel welcomed!!

Ate dinner here while on holiday at the Cotswolds. Booking a table was very easy and convenient through their website. Food was great and the service was timely. Members of staff were all very accommodating! Owner was also very friendly! Overall, a very family friendly place to eat!

The food was fabulous. We had a lot of different dishes. I ate so well I was worried I maybe needed to be rolled out. The selection of new drinks I tried was great and the service and hospitality of the staff was top-notch.

Brilliant! Me and my partner came for our two year anniversary meal from Birmingham and had the best time. The owner Porche (I hope I’ve spelt that right) was exceptional. The food was simply define, so flavoursome yet simple. The service was brillIant and so attentive and caring. We had the best experience full of good food and laughs! Would HIGHLY recommend because these guys deserve all the custom!

Not only was the service amazingly, the food was incredible. We had a range of dishes including Korean cheesy corn dogs which might just be the best thing on a stick ever, and a meat platter to cook on the in-table grill, which was such a fun experience. Amazing and highly recommended restaurant experience in the heart of Cheltenham.
