Mythos Greek Taverna in East Hertfordshire

Such a friendly place, Tasso and Jaqui made us feel so welcome we felt like old friends. Set menu with good choices, tasty moussaka and fab banoffee cheesecake. Greek beer was good 👍. We made the concert on time 😊

Thank you to Tass and his team for a superb Sunday lunch yesterday. The welcome and service were second to none. The food was perfect- clean plates all round and great value. We will definitely be returning when we are next in Bishops Stortford and hopefully to sample the Greek night on a Saturday.

I came here to eat, i liked the hummus and apple juice the most, it was fresh and light. I ate pink fish dip which was nice and creamy. The pitta bread was nice but feel it could be a more hot. Salad was tasty, simple and fresh but wish there was some more. To improve it I'd probably increase the portion of dips and salad and keep it in the centre on a wider plate as its much easier to dip bread in. I'd also keep the bread as a big piece rather than precut pieces as its easier to scoop more hummus. The portion size was a bit small for 2 people i was with so that could be Also accidentally i got given fish dip instead of cucumber sauce tsatsiki which i didn't mind but both him and i should have double checked it was the right item as in a few cases someone could be allergic. i appreciated seeing the owner trying his best to change the dish until the customer was happy which is a great quality and means i'm happy to come back in the future. He was also open to chat about anything, really nice guy as are the staff.3.3/5

We were the only 2 eating at the time and our food took over 40 mins to come. I ordered the halloumi, beetroot and sweet chilli Sandwich. I was served some halloumi between two slices of unbuttered dry toast, sweet chilli on the side and no beetroot in sight. When I asked for beetroot the waitress seemed surprised that I would want it despite it being on the menu, both of our sandwiches were served with 3 Doritos each and some limp salad, not up to standard!

The young waitress was very helpful and had good knowledge of the products on offer

Love this place! I'm never disappointed. Always welcomed by the owners and the staff with the friendliest of smiles, the coffee is good, the food is freshly prepared and really nice. Went to two of the Greek Taverna dinners, thoroughly enjoyed them and will back for more. Such a warm, homely Cafe. Really lovely, everytime :)

Very friendly, great breakfast, good quality ingredients

I enjoy to drink a coffee in the morning. The quality of coffee here is VERY GOOD. The location of this cafe is VERY CONVENIENT. The only issue I have is they AREN'T OPEN the hours they say they will be. This deeply upsets me as it shows a LACK OF COMMITMENT to their business and means I have to go ELSEWHERE for a hot beverage. Staff are KIND and LIVELY... when they are in. Hard work makes the dream work. ------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for the reply, Tass! I am very much a regular customer, I just usually have someone fetching a coffee for me. It is certainly not unfair for me to express how I feel about the business, and I am definitely close enough to know what times you open on a daily bases. You, as a business owner, shouldn't want people to be heading to any other Cafe but your own! With so much competition out there, it's best to make a professional impression and to not deter customers away for giving an honest review. I hope you do stick to those times in the future, all the best.

It's just good to have some places that are consistent throughout the important moments of your life, much like the 'Central Perk' in FRIENDS. Tass and Jacqui are kind and hardworking folks who are worth every good things coign their ways (albeit in the light of brexit and the gloomy shadow it casts o the restaurant business), and I sure sincerely hope so. They are a delight to talk to when the place is not too packed and they are not buzzing around their business. Tass is able to crack a joke with anyone under any circumstances, he really adds to the lively vibe to the place when he laughs. Jacqui is a good communicator, as well, who is a brilliant listener when you need to vent about something (although may not be generally advised to do so as people's got their own lives) and makes you feel you're REALLY listened to. The breakfast. Ooooooo where do I start? Top notch ingredients, brilliant taste, and the whole service around it. Made with passion by Tass (breakfasts are always made by Tass) and sometimes he'll talk about how he has made it the same way for 20 years (or was it 30? Longer than I've been alive, anyway), he still talks about it with sparkle in his eyes. God knows I'll do anything for authenticity like that. Well, the breakfast itself? I loved it and continue to love it every Saturday mornings (it's now part of my weekly routine (that I actually look forward to)). I shall not build up the expectation by saying how good it actually is, guess you'll have to try it out yourself :-) I'm so happy that I've found this place. During interactions with the staff I learnt that the people who provide services experience emotion and life just like you and I, they are to be treated the way you wishes in Your everyday life. Let's face it, the lesson of respecting others (and more importantly, respecting yourself) is a rare one to find on offer in our society nowadays, the chain-linked cafes (shall we not name drop any?) really see us customers as moneytrees rather than people with our individualities. With such a strong European feel and with a fantastic selection and choice of coffees, I cannot fault anything in all the times that I have been in here. The family run business and staff are always polite, friendly and welcoming, and will do their best to accommodate to all needs. I have also been to their new monthly Mythos Greek inspired night... “ IT IS A MUST TRY” if you love European flavours.

We had a great British breakfast with tea at the Café Riverside. Cozy atmosphere and really friendly stuff. Prices are very reasonable. I can recommend this place to everyone!
