My plaice Edenfield in Rossendale

Excellent chippy. We travelled from Oswaldtwistle today and I have to say this is easily the best fish n chips we have had all year. Staff are friendly. The place is spotless and the tea pot did not drip. A rarity in places we go. We will certainly be back soon.

Best chippy for miles. Friendly staff, excellent value for money. If you pre order you get served quicker but can just walk in too. Friday night is chippy night for us, never disappointed!

Wendy is violent. She threw a chip buttie at my head (it bounced off no obvs bad quality) and then when I asked for a can of Fanta pop fizzy orange she told me to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. Overall I feel ashamed and I hope for some love, my husband just left me.

Dropped in on a whim for lunchtime fish and chips. Fish cooked fresh, chips excellent, nice cup of tea, tea bag in cup and provided with small dish to put bag in when tea was brewed to my liking which was a nice touch. Overall top class fish and chips.

Phoned my order through at 5:20pm to collect at 5:40pm for my grandchildren`s treat. Chicken nuggets and chips twice. Young lady took the order and I repeated it to make sure of the order and the timing. Hubby went to pick it up with one grandchild in tow. Lots of confusion and asked twice what had been ordered. The owner asked him what the order was and the staff looking through all the bits of paper where orders were written. The owner came back once again to ask what had been ordered. Twenty five minutes later and one cold grandchild, the food ready. I see the reviews about the pre-ordering and it seems pretty good but this is not the first time we have waited ages after the allotted time. Think you are better off just walking in and ordering.

Don’t understand the dodgy reviews,apart from knowing the rules to pre order. They do serve walk ins,if they have food left. OK,so the lady owner is a bit ‘no nonsense’ but it’s an endearing quality. The fish is fantastic,as good as anywhere and far,far better than most. Chips are good,and you can have a small portion for lesser appetites. Two minor criticisms. The mushy peas aren’t mushy enough,more like marrow fat peas. I once ordered a pudding and I assume they must have microwaved it because it was terrible. Order first,go for fish and chips. They’re top class

Absolutely shocking service, the girl serving had a bad attitude problem and by the sounds and look of it she’s learnt it from the women doing the frying as she had a bad attitude as well, customer service was horrendous, can safely say first time coming and won’t be coming back in a rush, can not comment on the food as they was too rude towards me for me to get food I’d rather put my money else where than in someone who doesn’t value customers....

Just been to this shop and the food was ok but I was very shocked with the owners attitude!! Very rude lady!! Poor attitude towards walk in customers and even spoke to an elderly man who said she wouldn’t serve him as he hadn’t rang his order through?! Service with a smile....,Not

It seems quite a clean chippy but I was slightly disappointed that they would not serve you unless you have pre ordered. The owner said, there wasn’t enough food”. Not everyone knows this rule and to have zero flexibility is surely going to lose new customers.

We have recently started coming to this chippy - specifically because they provide Gluten Free Fish and Chips. Both are brilliant. Plenty of variety for those that do not need GF available also. Separate utenstils and fryer used for the GF. Very tasty food. Spotless premises and friendly staff. Highly recommend and will be returning again....tonight!

We get a take away every week and I must say the shop is spotless and the food is fantastic we look forward to our tea every Friday

Quite simply, this is the tastiest Fish & Chips around! Its my go to plaice :-) when I'm hungry, in need of warm, comforting food, and it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly, and make you feel 'part of the family', a true Lancashire village chip shop! I never feel 'greasy' afterwards, like I do in other local chippies, and eating in adds to the experience for me, as I Iove to eat my food piping hot and freshly prepared while I wait! We recently traveled to Edenfield to see the village from which my family comes and experience the local culture. It was rainy and 45 minutes prior to closing and owner Wendy Bagshaw and her kind young assistant created a beautiful meal of fresh fish and chips followed by a decadent sticky toffee pudding topped with warm custard. Ms. Bagshaw buys local and prepares fresh. If you find yourself in the area, give it a try. It is well worth it!

We called in for fish and chips, after a recommendation, we were not disappointed the fish and chips are done to order and she only uses fresh fish, it was delicious, the lady was very friendly, would definitely recommend.

My dad has asked me to post this review as he is not good with computers. Called in here on the way from the football, had the haddock and chips and it was the best haddock and chips I've ever had. We also had pudding which was also excellent! Also very reasonably priced and they brew a wonderful cup tea.

Traditional chippy with cozy, compact seating area. Really good service, friendly staff & reasonable prices. Food was freshly cooked and excellent. Kids menu available. We will be returning in an evening soon - for a glass of Pinot instead of a cuppa!

Stopped outside by chance. Nearest parking for sixsmiths bakery.Saw My Plaice right next to me.Chips sounded better than pie so went in.Very clean and tidy and only one before. Only had chips and curry but how delicious.Sat in car and ate them and had to go back in to compliment them.So so tasty. Nicest chips and curry ever.

The owner Wendy does everything to make you welcome.Whilst waiting for the fresh chips and yummy haddock.Wendy continued to chat even though she is shaking the chips and cooking the battered fish to petfection.Thanks for a good tea.

I’ve put three stars as the food is absolutely lovely & it might just have been an off day - but sadly the service definitely let them down. There was plenty of staff on (id day about 3 or 4) 2 tables being served and 1 person in front of us but After 30 mins of waiting with a small child and no sign of the food (we were ordering to go) it finally arrived but completely wrong order and a some items missing. It was delicious though!

Fabulous fish and chips. We moved recently but travel back just for the F&CS..Wendy; and staff the best. Fish, chips , and mushy peas. A glass of wine, bottle of cold beer what more could you want

Best fish and chips in the north. Very reasonable prices and you can have a beer. Extremely friendly. Park down Exchange Street.

Popped in one Tuesday tea time on my way home from a frantic shopping afternoon in the Trafford Centre. Clocked the sign on the pavement saying fish and chips and luckily there was a parking space directly outside. How cosy is this chippy? Not big but you can eat in or take out and... they are licenced!! Pity I was driving. I had fish and chips and it was delicious. The staff we're friendly and courteous and I will definately call again... with friends.
