This place used to be good, when Mai's Vietnamese kitchen operated there, but now it's reopened as Church Farm Cafe, it's gone down the pan! Pretentious decoration with unfriendly in fact downright rude staff serving overpriced food that appears to have come straight from Tesco. Never again!

After a long ride and tough climb and no place to have a sit with some espresso, brownie, cookie .. whatever ‘SUGAR’. I dropped off my bike intuitively and went in. Cool environment with ‘bike-like’ atmosphere. Energy bars, apparel .. not to forget an solid espresso machine and (as it looked) homemade sweeties. Not so cool was the atmosphere behind the bar. Stress. And the remark “I cannot pick any orders, since we are busy … ohhh you can wait for 30 minutes ..” What about being welcome ? A group of ±8 cyclists had landed .. and a couple of more like me … The man with the hammer in me needed instantly something to drink and eat … And I was sure (looking in the eyes) I wasn’t gonna get a thing here, even I would die instantly. So : No go for me in the future.. how pretty it looks .. it is all about constant quality …

We have held several important and private family parties at the Musette Cafe and they have been a wonderful success. The staff are hard working, friendly and efficient and the coffee and cakes are delicious. They have a nice selection of wine too. To top it off, the location is beautiful and it has a classy vibe. Musette used to be my hidden gem, the place that not many of my friends and colleagues knew about..the food, the atmosphere and the cool artwork on the walls, always bustling with cyclists, people with their dogs and the like. It was my base for a dog walk and place for a tasty lunch. So, I don’t know what has happened. I visited this week and the food was average, we ordered baguettes and drinks for our lunch. There was nothing to it, bland baguettes plonked on a plate. There was next to no atmosphere in there and the staff had no enthusiasm. I’m not sure what has happened to Musette, it’s like it has been left to it’s own devices. Dear Musette, please get that zest for life the place once had and pump that into your food and be what you used to be! You can do better, I know you can!

I just love this café! Situated in the magnificent and picturesque village of Aldbury, Musette has been tastefully refurbished and serves the most wonderful coffee. The cakes are delicious and staff have always been kind and courteous when I have visited. Nothing seems too much trouble and they have always been really helpful with my dietary requirements. Plan your walk or cycle route with this café in mind, enjoy!

Stumbled across this place whilst visiting Tring and Berkhamsted. The weather was typical of this year and I have to confess to being most envious of all the cyclist (both road bikes and mountain Bikes) Musette Cafe is at the start or end of the Ridgeway. Anyway after looking at a some of the lovely bikes I had coffee and a small breakfast then treated myself to a slice of carrot cake all of which was delicious and served by a courteous and polite young lady. The Cafe has a cycling theme which made it interesting all set in lovely old buildings. I would for sure go again I love all these independent places popping up good for them.

Musette truly is an amazing cafe in a beautiful spot in Aldbury. We are regulars and it is an absolute god send in the school holidays and at weekends when you have children. Comfortable seating inside and out with space for the kids to play and a field next door for them to run around in. The coffee is the best, the cakes are delicious and the food is fab - we love the breakfasts ! Top tip - check out the walk up to Ashridge (hour round trip) and back again through the field. Have a coffee before and then refuel with lunch or a cake when you’re back!

The Vietnamese food here is brilliant. Really fresh with lots of herbs. Yes you sometimes have to wait a little while, but that's because it is cooked to order. When we're on cycle rides on a cold day we phone ahead to place an order so it's ready when we arrive. Can't wait to come back in the summer to try some of the cakes when the seating is open again.

We ordered Vietnamese to takeaway. They said it would take 20 minutes and that we had to stick around to wait for it. It actually took an hour. The food itself was good and pretty authentic, but I'm not sure it was worth the price (over £50 for 3-4 people) and the ridiculous waiting time.
CRCA_123 . 2021-03-07
MORE AT TripAdvisor
The service here is appalling - it takes 15mins for the nonchalant team to produce a takeaway tea.. The Viet Kitchen produces some very tasty and recommended food. They also do a home delivery service which is worthwhile. However, should you turn up on spec, the wait times for food are incredibly long : over the last 6 months visiting at least once weekly, it is never less than 30 mins and today an hour. Yes, nice weather and no monument cafe caused long queues but use this to your advantage Musette and hire more staff! It’s not a one off - drinks are consistently latent. Not great when having to stand around a courtyard in the cold.It would help if the staff advised when taking your order on how long the delay would be - even for tea. Their level of customer service is poor. For this reason rated low. There are alternatives - the village pub, like Musette also does takeout drinks and bacon/sausage baps.. all immediately available, lesser price, reflected in their quality. Take your pick - with Musette, plan ahead and bring a bed!

The menu is small, but the posh beans on toast were tasty and the mushroom soup was obviously homemade and packed with tasty mushrooms. The only downside is that Musette is not easy to find - but well worth seeking out.

Yes, I would never have found this cafe had I not been told about it! However, they have always been busy whenever I've visited, so word of mouth must be working. Their coffee is delicious, as are their cakes, and service is friendly. The new outside decking area is very comfortable, the interior being modern and biased towards cycling activities (the owner has some of his fine cycling-related photography on display). I understand that they are to expand their food offering soon – on present showing, it promises to be worth hunting out.

Dropped in here for a snack lunch whilst walking in the area. They don't have a menu as such, just a display of cakes and list of coffees, etc. Soup was also available when we asked for it. Unfortunately, there was only one soup and it was far too spicy for us. I'm sure there are some people who would like it but when it's that spicy, they're needs to be an alternative option. Unfortunately, the roll with the soup was also cold and pappy. Coffee and cake were however delicious.

Lovely new coffee and cake stop, that seemed very welcoming to all, whether a cyclist, or walker like myself with my dogs. The cake selection was very good, and all the cakes we tested were fresh and delicious. The coffee seems an art form, somewhat wasted on myself, but others in the group said it did taste great. Only improvement point would be to have a bigger range of savoury options, but im sure that will come in due course.

Heard about a new stylish cafe opening locally, couldn't resist a look. It is a cyclists cafe but they were not offended by us turning up with and extra set of wheels and no lycra. Great hot chocolate, obviously with cream and marshmallow, loved the stylish matt cups, my son had the tea which was a quality product. The coffee machine is a ridiculously fine piece of engineering and that alone is worth a visit, if you are into that sort of thing, which I am!. Is it a hidden gem? Yes. Would I go back? Yes. We came in for the street food and found the event very well run, there were plenty of stalls, a good variety of offerings and seats to be had. Staff in the pub were very friendly and plenty of them clearing glasses - in fact a bit too keen, keep your glass in view. The ordering at the bar is meant to streamline the system but makes it into a bottleneck- but no real issue there was a Tring beer tent outside! Great event and pub give it a go!

Wanted to leave a review of the St Albans excellent taproom from the brewery. Being a bit of a novice beer drinker i needed a bit of guidance on what and how much of each drink I should have ( one of the recommendations was a 9.7% stout that is apparently best drank in thirds if you can manage it!) by the wonderful team member Marcus behind the bar. A brilliant afternoon’s experience that I would really recommend if you’re looking for something local and a bit different.
