Our go to place for an indian!!! Such good food, never had a bad meal from here, comes out piping hot and tastes delish. Staff are all lovely and make the dining experience even better. 100% recommend!!

THE best Indian hands down. Really friendly vibe and nice atmosphere. We visit weekly. They do a great offer during the week, that makes it cheaper than cooking at home. I’ve tried lots of Indian food, these guys are my favourite.

Had a lovely meal as usual. Great value for money, great pickle tray and even a good portion of lime pickle which a lot of restaurants don't seem to give you. The mixed grill starter was really nice and lots of it too, in fact when we got our curries which were lovely, we ended up taking some back home. I recommend the Deshi lamb it's awesome. Staff are really nice, especially the manager, he's always so friendly and attentive. The white wine we got was really nice too. Great atmosphere we would definitely recommend this place.

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants as decided to travel that little bit further (past 4 others) to order our well deserved Saturday treat…… wish we hadn’t….. 1. Arrived in car park to nearly buckle my wheels in the pot holes car park 2. Was told on entry cash only no mention of this on website or inside 3. 55 mins wait 4. Got home to wrong order, no popadums, phoned up and were rude, put phone down on me when I suggested a refund (4.80) 5. My onion bhaji was a chicken pakora 6 my Bhuna wasn’t a bhuna 7. The free wine was rank so we threw it away 8. 5 stars health hygiene crossed out on menu to 3 stars!! Not a great experience. Mumbai…… yes you are about £10 cheaper than any other place in area for same food we ordered but jeeez, we won’t be doing this again in a hurry!!

We arrived at 5:30pm to what was a cold and empty restaurant. Appreciate it had just opened and they had only just put the heating on but would have been nice to preheat the building. We ordered the set menu deal with additional popadoms and pickle tray. And 2 beers. (Followed by 2 more) It’s took just under an hour for 2 miniature samosas to come out. Tasted ok but not homemade or even very nice - sure they could do better. The glasses of beer the first pint I noticed when I got to the bottom the glass was dirty. It seemed that due to the shape of glass they were unable to clean it properly as it had what seemed like dried on coke a cola in the bottom. Looking up at the window we were sat by was clear not been cleaned in some time as covered in cobwebs. Which led us to ask the question imagine what the kitchen is like. The manager seemed to be animated and talking loudly in his own language to staff. Seemed at points like arguing. This continued throughout the meal. Didn’t add to the atmosphere. The staff were nice enough in service. The curry’s were actually quite nice. The rice was the smallest portion of rice we’ve ever been given in an Indian restaurant. Upon asking for the bill they dropped the bombshell that its card only and sent me to the garage with the request for my partner to stay as hostage while I went to get the money. This will be countered no doubt to say it’s to keep costs down. However banks charge around 0.3% for debit card transactions and between 3-6% for credit cards. So this is more a case of tax evasion in my opinion. If dealing with cash no reason to log all meals sold. The next day both our stomachs haven’t been right. Whether or not we can blame the restaurant for this is not certain but all the signs seem to suggest this. Thanks but we won’t be visiting this place again.

The best Indian in Barnsley! We are very well travelled and always opt for an Indian whenever we go away but Mumbai Lounge is one of our absolute favourites. The food is amazing, the staff are super friendly and the value for money is incredible. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 6 years and it is always busy. We’ve introduced other family and friends who all say the same and are now regulars just like us. That speaks for itself!

We were the first in the restaurant and still had to wait 45 minutes for our starters. We got there for 5.30 and it didn’t open until 5.45. I phoned the restaurant at 5.35 to check they were open and was told to wait five minutes with no explanation given. The food is ok and the staff are friendly enough but the service was extremely slow, there were quite a few disgruntled folk…..and loads of people sat about waiting for a table. Also,beware on the 5course deal….some main courses come with rice which counts as one of your courses???? Will stick with Akbar’s - better food and much better service!

Visited tonight for a catch up a friend, first customers to arrive and glad we went early as was full by the time we left, not surprising given the special 5 course menu price which, was excellent value. Sadly due to staff illness the service was lacking tonight and could see and hear some people's frustration, but the two front of house were clearly working as fast and hard as they could. Do feel our plates were left to clear longer perhaps than others but won't stop us returning soon. Have visited before and decor has certainly improved. The only thing I would ask is you go back to making your own onion Bhaji and not buying them in like the keema and kofta kebabs. Overall a really nice and enjoyable meal.

We found this place quite by accident and have been a few times now over the last few months. The food has been consistently wonderful and Martin and his team have always been kind, welcoming and friendly. I really don't get the bad reviews as that has not been our experience at all. Yes it's cash only but that is made clear and we knew that from our first visit. Come and give it a go. You won't get a better tasting or better priced curry anywhere else for this price on a Saturday night

Enjoyed another lovely meal at Mumbai Lounge tonight. There were 5 of us who all went for the 5 course deal, the food was amazing as usual!! It’s never too long a wait in between courses and the staff are so friendly and welcoming and can’t do enough for you. I have just so called dined at this restaurant with my 15 year old son safe to say I will not be visiting again in a word rude.

Lovely Christmas Dinner spoiled by terrible customer service afterwards. Paid my deposit weeks ago £40 watched my name and details of payment being written in their diary, forgot my receipt today and they wouldn’t quickly check their diary. I either had to pay £40 again or send one of the party all way home to get the receipt (which we did).

Me and my girlfriend been coming here a few years and the food and staff are absolutely amazing, we don’t go anywhere else to eat it’s always Mumbai! Sometimes come with other couples and even go on lads curry nights here, was a lovely gem to go eat and fill your face with proper nice food and beer, I would recommend to anyone couples family’s party’s, them tandorri lamb chops starters are to die for I could eat them everyday, overall wonderful food and staff are so friendly it’s a lovely atmosphere, they always go the extra mile!

Cash only , told to walk to the garage for cash ?? Food was horrendous basic and the young lad serving had no idea what jack Daniel’s and coke was so drank cola all evening Decor was run down and seats were peeling, we were frozen inside was cold Had to ring my friends partner to bring cash so embarrassing on my birthday….never again

Absolutely perfect every time. First class food, first class service and amazing value, we've even booked for Christmas dinner on Christmas day. Service is always super efficient and very friendly, I don't know how they manage to get it all so perfect every time we go, they have an excellent chef in the back, the food is superb every time.

We’ve been regulars here for years and it they never fail to produce brilliant meals. The service is always very personal and friendly. Approximately 8 years of visiting the restaurant to eat in or take away and will never go anywhere else.

The fantastic offer, 5 courses for £14.95 is the value bit and surprisingly the quality is never compromised. Martin the owner is always on hand making sure every customer is more than satisfied with their food and is not averse to fetching drinks if the restaurant is busy. The three waiters are very knowledgeable and efficient. Must confess my wife and I are regulars, we travel across Barnsley to eat there. we are regulars for a reason. It’s as good as it gets food wise.

Not been for a while so thought we would give it a try again. We weren’t disappointed. Staff were very attentive and the food very good. We had the midweek offer of any starter, any main and any rice or naan with fruit or ice cream for afters followed by coffee and mints. £12.95. Well worth it. Just be aware it’s cash only.

Please be aware this restaurant accepts CASH ONLY. All in all the food was good. It’s the customer experience and the restaurant itself that requires work. We were rushed through courses -waiters trying to take food away before we had finished. At the end of the meal we heard the waiter tell the table behind us that it’s cash only. Oh dear, it was the first we had heard of it We cobbled together what we had cash wise and were £14 short of the bill. As we had come in a taxi my husband had to walk to the petrol station to get cash out to pay the rest. Unfortunately the petrol station had a power cut so he came back empty handed. This is when things turned sour. The restaurant owner said my husband had to leave his driving licence to ensure he came back with the £14. to which he refused. We just wanted to leave our name and address and had every intention of dropping the rest of the money the next day. Things got heated between the owner and my husband and I had to call my nephew to drop us some money off before we could leave. I did get a sort of apology from the owner but felt it he was trying to justify his actions more than apologise. We will never set foot in this place again, it really upset me. It is very unusual for a business today of this size to only accept cash payments when many people only carry cards. It left me wondering why?

Nice selection of starters. They even have fish panorama which you don't see too many places. The £10 ,for 5 courses is an absolute bargain. Last time we went the restaurant was a little cold, and the staff are polite but not friendly. I would recommend it as the food is that good.

He visitado este restaurante indio con mi pareja y dos amigos. No era la primera vez que hemos ido, es el 5º. Pedimos el menú de cinco platos para 10. 95 y las opciones a elegir eran abundantes. Todos los cursos llegaron en buen tiempo, pero nunca nos sentimos presionados. La comida era increíble y el servicio fue insuperable. El restaurante estaba lleno y había un montón de ambiente. Visitamos el Bombay Fir Lounge la primera vez el viernes con un grupo de 26 a 16 cumpleaños de celebrar una primera impresión fueron pobres en que esperamos una hora para ser servida una copa, pedimos varios camareros y nos dijeron que esperar un minuto o simplemente ignorada por algunos camareros. Mi sensación de que no podía hacer frente con una gran fiesta. También hay lugares en la mesa de juego y era muy complicado conseguir lugares extra. Por eso es negativo. Así que después de el servicio de bebidas de debarcle me mantuvo una mente abierta a se si la comida sin canjear en sí.

we attended last night for a meal. its a very dark place perhaps so you cant see what you are eating, I had the mixed vegetable curries and vegetable rice, the curries tasted all the same, the mushrooms where raw . the rice tasted of grease unfortunatley today i have spent vomiting and abdominal cramps

I can't believe how good value this meal was. Popadoms, a starter, main with rice and bread, ice cream, coffee and a baileys for £20.....a great deal. Food was ok and the service a bit hit and miss but at that price you can't grumble!

Al principio nos compramos aquí los 3 campos por £10. Oferta de fin de semana 95 (9 libras. 95 días laborables, creo). Llegamos primeros y segundos platos con arroz o naan (uno de nosotros conseguimos grandes arroz los otros naan, luego dividimos) y luego el postre con café. Por desgracia, no tienen ninguna opción de té bolsitas así (socios es un chico tradicional de Yorkshire, así que le gusta su té! ).

Esperamos las edades para los entrantes, por desgracia, les habían dado a alguien más. No es un problema puede ir mal las cosas. Entonces esperamos las edades de nuevo para el plato principal mientras varias personas que llegaron después que nosotros tenía su comida y a la izquierda. Cuando llegamos al final del plato principal que nos dieron una comida equivocada, en lugar de pollo tikka masala pollo tikka aunque era claramente ordenados única compensación era un vaso de coca cola Light - tras una discusión profunda y una copa de vino.
