Mulberry Leaves in Staffordshire Moorlands

I can't comment on the food, but was disappointed to find a pub with Marston's emblazoned over the outside didn't actually have any Marston's bitter, and definitely needs a makeover. The tables are sticky and badly scratched, and the ladies toilets are painted in pale colours, all the better to show the absolutely ingrained filth on the inside of the doors and the walls and other surfaces. All it takes is a wipe over with some cleaning fluid, folks, but it obviously hasn't been done for months! The one redeeming feature was the lovely chap from Essex behind the bar, who was warm, welcoming and friendly.

Went today with my family. We all had burgers, I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger, it was hot and tasty. We all enjoyed our food. Very friendly atmosphere and staff, the service was great and everywhere was clean and tidy. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again

I plus friend visit fairly regularly and recently were very pleased with the standard or service and quality of our meals. It wasn't very busy so the meals arrived quickly and were pleasantly hot.

Just got back from having dinner here. Such a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. We were allowed to choose our own table and our food arrived really quickly. The pizza was amazing - perfect size and really authentic taste. My husband had the rump steak, which he asked for 'blue'. He said that it was cooked to perfection, and everything that came with it was really good too. Great desserts also - a really good selection to choose from. Coffee was also great. Can't fault this place. We're on holiday this week, but if we lived here we'd be back again and again.

Visited for lunch on a Wednesday lunchtime. We had a friendly welcoming from the staff who poured us some drinks and let us choose where we wanted to sit. We ordered some lunch which came out in a reasonable time. Food was tasty, I had the Chicken Burger and my colleague had the curry with Prawns. We would definitely return when in the area again.

This place just isn't getting any better. Supposed to be under new management and improving. Having bee here numerous times recently and it doesn't get any better. Went last week, half the food on the menu unavailable. I had lasagne with salad and chips. The "salad" was a bit of lettuce on the side. Chips cold lasagne bland. Partner had gammon. Cheap rubber meat, cold chips. Had to wait 45 mins for it to come out when the pub was EMPTY. Tried to raise my concerns to someone who just wasn't interested. Ordered pudding, waited ANOTHER 30 mins then cancelled the order. DONT BOTHER.. spend your money elsewhere locally

We went for the first time in months as a family and the food was very good, we all enjoyed our meal, the place wasn’t too busy and we had a good meal and the staff and chef were very helpful and friendly x

A delicious Sunday dinner for my mum, my partner, son and myself on mother's day. Booked a table for five people for 5 p.m. for a birthday celebration. On arrival our booking did not seem to ring any bells and we were taken to an unreserved table. When we went to the bar we were told that there would be a considerable wait for food as a 'walk in ' party had only just ordered but despite enquiring in the kitchen no delay time could be given. We were prepared to wait and have a drink BUT there were absolutely no ales on any of the pumps and all we were offered was a limited choice of bottled beers. At this point we decided enough was enough and in order to salvage what we could of our daughter's birthday celebration, took or leave and went elsewhere.

Had a lovely experience at the mulberry leaves. Popped in for something to eat and a couple of drinks and we were greeted by a lovely lady named Kelly. She was very helpful and very friendly, and made our time there a pleasant experience. Thanks to Kelly for her superstar attitude, we will be visiting here again.

I visited The Mullberry Leaves with my family for an evening meal. Food was delicious and the service was excellent. Our meals arrived very fast, the food was great and excellent value too. All the staff are very friendly and go above and beyond for you especially Kelly who is fantastic, nothing is too much for her, she’s always happy to help. We love this place, the atmosphere is great, we will definitely be visiting again.

Having visited the Mulberry leaves last month I was pleasantly surprised,the drink was well priced the pub itself was clean and friendly to. In particular I found the bar staff most helpful especially a young lady Kelly I had a good chat to her when she was free and she told the wife and I all about leek and surrounding areas she never took the smile off her face,credit to mulberry leaves for finding someone so enthusiastic in her job

We come here every six weeks for a family gathering, there is usually 10-15 people all together. Kelly who works behind the bar needs a special mention as she’s so hard working and always has a smile and friendly attitude,the food is decent and hot but we really go for the get together.

Met with family my nephew who is aurtistic came as well. May i say how brilliant the young girl was with him behind the bar, kelly her name was. Also my daughter who had a broken leg, kelly carried her drink for her no trouble absolutely brilliant young girl. Credit to your company.

Yes it’s a chain pub. No I don’t expect a culinary masterpiece, But! When I spend just short of £60 I expect the food to be of a reasonable quality and as described in the menu. Family of 4. Kids meals and pudding were missing items. Mac and cheese out of a tin, barely warm and cold pulled pork on top. Southern fried chicken burger £13 was like warm, bun burnt and fillet was hard and dry. Left most of it and I’m not a picky eater. I can live with that level of food and expect it from a pub chain (if it’s cheap!) you just can’t get away with it at current prices!

Quite a busy Saturday afternoon but only one server at the bar covering drinks and food orders. One of our party didn’t fully get what they ordered, when we asked for it to be rectified, it was as though it was our fault. The lady at the bar who took the order eventually came over and apologised. We don’t blame her, just the lack of staff which put additional pressure on them. When the food came, it certainly wasn’t worth the wait it cost. Not one to be revisited.

We popped in for a pint or two on the way back from Alton Towers as the placed looked pleasant. We got our drinks and my wife expressed surprise at the cost of a pint of lime and soda as she was driving. The manager seemed surprised at the price too and offered to replace it with a lemonade and soda as that's the same price. My wife said, no it's fine and came to join us. About 10 minutes later the manager presented us with complimentary meat pie in way of an apology. It was delicious and he didn't need to do this. About 10 minutes later a server asked whether the 2 children with us wanted 2 ice-cream sundaes that had apparently been made in error. We're not sure whether this was genuine or a further unnecessary apology. We joked whether management thought we were secret shoppers as they were so accommodating! As we live nearby we'll definitely be visiting again! Also what was that pie as we couldn't see it on the menu!

Decided to book a meal here for my mother-in-laws 70th birthday. We don’t live in Leek but had family members coming from other parts of the country and this seemed like a good place to meet up - how wrong we were! We booked online for a table for 8 but when we arrived we couldn’t see any reserved seating so waited patiently at the bar while someone else was placing their food order. We waited for nearly 20 minutes as there was only one person serving at the bar and no other staff members to be seen. Finally a young lad appeared and we asked him about our booking. His response was to shrug and then complain that he was cooking and waiting on so how should he know?! The girl behind the bar called for the manager who said they had no knowledge of our booking - well I’d booked online and even had a booking reference number and an email! They did offer to get us a seat near the dart boards or two tables of four (not together). After speaking to other people it seems they also hadn’t had their booking acknowledged. We were also told that half the things they had ordered weren’t available - no burgers even! The manager said it had been dead last week but this week they were packed as if it was our fault for being there. Overall the attitude of the staff was pretty poor the place seemed badly managed and we decided to cut our losses and go somewhere else. We won’t be going back.

I went down to the mulberry leaves after hearing recent praise. We went down sat at the fair end of the pub the tables were disgusting not been cleaned sauce on the tables unopened and out of date!! I had a Carling and it tasted eggy to which I was told the lines haven't been cleaned as of yet then we go to order food we ordered fish and chips steak and ale pie and a mixed grill we ordered everything ok, we sat for 30 minutes and then a waitress came over and told us they had no fish on. To which I was understanding and said I'll have the scampi even though I should not be waiting 30 minutes to be told there's no fish. The meals come the mix grill well done even though it was ordered medium rare we sent it back and the chef said according to the waitress "there's nothing wrong with it if they don't like it tell them to leave" to which we asked to speak to the chef he came out and looked out of it to which we had enough at this point and also didn't want to eat food cooked by someone who was in this state and should be no where near a kitchen. BOYCOTT THIS PLACE.

Previously been to this place on a number of occasions, but not been until 13th Sept 23. It seems to lack staff and the ones working are very inexperienced. I only asked for a VAT receipt, which was a challenge. Then, when the food arrived, no cutlery, and when i asked for some, it was brought, unwrapped in the hands of the server, with no paper towel. Food was ok, or average, not my best experience. I had steak pie, pastry was a bit hard, the San Miguel was the best part.

Had lunch today with my autistic 70yr old brother,at his request, but it wasn't too good to be honest.He loves fish and chips and a Guinness or draught beer..all not available.We ordered scampi and a curry but parts of the order were missing and I didn't get my cappuccino.After a 40 minute wait, which we were informed about by the lovely girl who took our order, the meal was disappointing.

We frequent here when in Leek, done a fair few good reviews this is my first negative one. Ordered club sandwich - lovely. Ordered chicken and bacon salad (should have been chicken, bacon, tomato, cucumber, red onion, quinoa, brown rice) got iceberg lettuce one slice of cucumber chicken and bacon. Very poor really for £11.75. Apparently there was a festival over bank holiday so no beer or Guinness either. We weren’t checked on so ended up paying for a meal i didn’t eat. 2 staff on one just spent time with partner chatting not attentive. Never thought i’d ever say it about here but i’ll not return again

Absolutely dreadful, avoid like the plague! Last visit two years ago was dreadful and unbelievably it’s deteriorated. 5pm Bank holiday Monday, group of six. No bitter, ok guínness- no Guinness. Settled for bland lager. Placed food order, 30 minutes later advised that 3 out of six orders not available, ordered alternatives. At this stage we should have eaten the beer mats as the food can only be described as utter cr*p. How do management remain in the hospitality business, pitiful! Never again.

A lovely visit today to this popular Pub, lovely decor and well kept pub, great atmosphere, staff were very welcoming, had the mixed grill from the menu with was beautifully cooked, lovely play area outside that the kids loved, will definitely be returning here 5/5

New management, a breath of fresh air. Visited today a lovely clean and well run public house, and a good clean play area for children. The food was excellent well cooked and hot.Drinks are reasonably priced. And the staff were efficient attentive and friendly .I cannot recommend the the Mullbury Leaves highly enough now it's under new management.
