Awesome service, yummy food and a great South Indian taste

Came all the way from Birmingham to find out the place is closed even though their Web and Google said they were opened

We went at the closing time, but Ramesh Anna was very happy to feed us with freshly prepared food, which was amazingly delicious. His hospitality is the icing on the cake. Would happily recommend his restaurant to everyone I know. Thanks for such a nice food and experience, Ramesh anna

We were travelling and we reached the place Almost while closing.Just told Mr. Ramesh that we are very hungry. He was very tired yet he fed us hot and tasty food .Every thing was amazing starting with Vada , Sambar vada,dosa all were very good.milagu chicken and kothu porota was delicious 😋 😀 👌. This small restaurant is a hidden gem, offering a heartfelt welcome and delicious food. Their chicken biryani is fragrant and perfectly spiced, while the chicken 65 is crispy and flavorful. The chicken kothu and egg dosa,chicken gravy were delicious.Very helpful owners particularly Jaya who never hesitated to feed even after closing hours. I highly recommend to taste healthy and delicious food.

Very Poor Service, had to wait for more than 1 hour. Even came back saying the item is not there

Very nice place with good South Indian food. I have been there once but my friends been there twice and food is tasty as always. We tried South Indian dishes chicken, mutton those were all good. We tried going this Sunday Eve but google map update shows it is closed and my call couldn’t get through so don’t know how is it now!

Wow!!! What else can I say about this little big restaurant!! Goodness God!! Simply awesome. Though the resaurant space is small, The food and service made us feel heavenly. Very cost effective and heavenly food. It has been a long while we enjoyed such taste. We have ordered idly with vada portion and another idly only portion which tasted like amma’s food for us and then we had chicken fried rice and butter chicken which we started eating with cutleries but eventually dig in with our fingers lol.. soo tasty!! Then we had masala dosa and also Chicken kothu!! Yummy . Our family of 3 enjoyed those a lot a-lot alotttt…. Thank you Mugil for this awesome food and service.

Great authentic south Indian food

Amazing! I would give more than 5 stars if I could.... Absolutely delicious food - we ordered a big selection so we could try a variety and took the left overs home for lunch next week - can't wait to eat it all again! Staff were lovely and attentive and they was a friendly, family centred atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place more!

Simply the best Dosa in town! If you want authentic South Indian food and value an attentive and genuine service, this is the place to go. Our first time here was when the restaurant were preparing for catering for an event but the owner Ramesh very kindly accommodated our lunch. We’ve been back again and have loved every single dish (dosa, idli, vada, filter coffee and chai) we have had. The service is top notch with a warm smile. I couldn’t recommend this wonderful family-run restaurant more! A true gem of an eatery in all of the midlands, maybe even the whole of the UK.

If I could give 6 stars, I would! Authentic, delicious, fresh food. Dosa was light & crispy. Sunday breakfast thali was superb. Filter coffee was the show stopper.

What an amazing little hidden gem! The most delicious Thali full of freshly cooked food, including Dosa, Sambar, chutneys, Vaada, Aloo puri, Uttapam and even a sweet dish with a masala cha or coffee! We couldn’t ask for more! If you haven’t tried Mugil …you are missing out!

Food was amazing. Their breakfast Thali finishes around 12.pm. we had lunch from there. Staff are friendly they cook according to your taste preferences. Highly recommend this place if you like tamil/South indian food. Loved their chutney and sambar. Dosa was so tasty. Loved it. Will dine there again soon.

Have been visiting Mugil for more than a year, food has been excellent and fresh always. Some of the negative comments seem to be fake and motivated based on my exp. Taste and freshness has been consistent every time I visited.

Called in with my family for idli, dosa, and the best chicken biryani this side of Vellore. Wonderfully authentic food that took me back 30 years. Great value and deserves to be better known and busier. Thoroughly recommend.

Dont trust on the rating. I travelled for 4miles and it was terrible i was not able to finish the ordered food. Me and my friend where from tamil nadu and andhra pradesh highly not recommended.

Lunch for our friend's son's birthday party is ordered from Mugil restaurant. The food is authentically south Indian and tasty. Kids liked the mutton biryani and chicken Manchurian. Highly recommended. Plan to visit again for dine in.

Very authentic South Indian food and great service

We chanced upon this place as had dropped our daughter off at the sub aqua place in Olton. What a find! We were blown away by the quality and taste of the food, all served promptly and piping hot. The owners were lovely - genuine and friendly - and attentive without being pushy. The setting is basic but feels very authentic and is comfortable. Extremely reasonably priced too. We popped next door to get a beer to bring in. Will definitely be visiting again as I want to try everything on the menu - especially the breakfast Thali!

We visited Mugil for breakfast this morning seeing a poster online but turns out it was an old one they’d circulated during summer! Sadly they only open after noon. The owner/ manager was very friendly and offered us some complimentary vada and chutney and sambar which were all delicious! Definitely will come back for lunch next time! Thanks for the vada and kind gesture :)

Amazing food, very reasonably priced. Thought everything tasted very authentic. Very Crispy dosas and amazingly spiced starters. Service was fantastic. The owner / manager does a fab job at making you feel comfortable. And the rest of the staff are very efficient. Parking right outside as well. Definitely recommend ! 😍

We were a group of 16 with age group 10 years to 72 years went for dining in. It was a wonderful culinary experience with nice food having authentic taste from southern India. We had Dosas, Idli, Vada with filter coffee. Serving was hot and on time with mouth watering taste. Ramesh and his team are spending their honest efforts in this restaurant. Let’s all support them with frequent eats there.

Awesome Family Feast at Mugil South Indian Restaurant! Just had a fab dinner with the family at Mugil and it was a total win! We kicked off with the Chicken Manchurian – spicy, tangy, and just the right amount of crunch. The Egg Veechu Parata was a flaky, eggy delight, totally on point. Then came the Chicken Masala Dosa, stuffed with flavor and a real crowd-pleaser. The Chicken Kothu was a mix of everything good – spicy, hearty, and hit the spot. And the Chicken Fried Rice? Fluffy, flavorful, and tasted just like it does in South Tamil Nadu. Authentic flavors that took us straight to Tamil Nadu! Authentic taste, good ingredients, bang for the buck makes Mugil a must try restaurant. We have been there more than once and I think you should go and make up your own mind. It's a diner style restaurant, essentials but food is neat and you get what you are promised - an appetite quenched with some authentic dishes.

I came for New year party to my friends place, they took me here for dinner. After long time i felt like food in home. Every dishes taste too good and very fresh as well. Service and ambience is good too. I can suggest this restaurant to anyone coz i believe it would disappoint anyones tastebud.

One of the best South indian restaurant 👌

Lots of Indians eating there...always a good sign! The menu requires a bit of research as it hasn't got the standard British Indian restaurant dishes so it was a bit of a voyage of discovery. The staff are delightful and the food was very tasty. Large servings of rice and loved the lacey parothas. Got to try the dosas and uttapam next time. The decor is pretty shabby to be honest, but don't let it put you off.

We together five friends went. I just went from Portsmouth all the way up to Birmingham to taste the dishes of the mugil restaurant. It's because of my friend's suggestion. I had mix uthappam that was mesmerising. I had some paratha with chettinad gravy which was awesome. Paratha is quite big when compared to most of the restaurants. I had some chilli chicken and chicken 65 which brought back the thoughts of my hometown restaurant. I'll give 100/10. It is too long for me still I want to eat whenever I feel like eating my home town tasty foods

Mugil recently catered for a friend's 50th birthday. Food was superb and highly recommended

Good food however sambar is unlike any other sambar I've had at various South Indian restaurants. Service is poor though - the waiter doesn't say what the dishes are, he just tosses it on the table and if there are lots of empty plates on the table he expects you to move them before he will give you your food.

Phenomenal dinner here tonight. The lady who seems to be in charge was incredibly kind and helpful and genuinely interested in our feedback. Another table’s food came out before ours and the chef came out to explain our dishes were more complicated so took a little longer - what service! We hadn’t noticed and weren’t even remotely worried! 1/4 of us is a veggie and the veggie options were plentiful. The dosas and puri were incredible. All four of us ate as much as we could and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill; amazing value for money. Would heartily recommend and would definitely come again if we happen to be in Solihull again.
