Muffin Break in West Lothian

Bacon and sausages were ok, rest of breakfast was absolutely terrible plus mushrooms were missing, most overcooked egg i have seen and was unedible. Defo nowhere near worth £10 and wont be back, toast was so underdone too they might aswell hav just gave me bread. Have to go ask for butter and "toast" was cold by the time we got it

I visited this cafe with my friend who wanted me to try their "smoothie" OMG, it was delicious, but, not nearly as delicious as the Hot Mars Bar Muffin that the assistant recommended to me. This is exactly what they say, they heat the muffin just long enough to melt the chocolate bar on top and in the centre of the cake. The staff are friendly and the cafe is extremely clean, we were there just as lunch was finishing and I was impressed at how quickly the tables were cleared and wiped. Not the cheapest place in the Centre, but also not the most expensive, this was my first visit, certainly won't be my last. I may need to shop for larger clothes.

Nice stop off as we enjoyed Easter Monday holiday, lovely coffee * (decaff) and muffins and scones really yummy. liked the relaxed atmosphere and staff attentive to my order and speed delivery really good, happily will return again in future.

Visiting the Muffin Break in Livingston today i was shocked to witness an extremely rude female being unnecessarily rude to a staff member. While i agree we all have the right to raise issue, the way in which it is done should really be considered and it must be based on fact. The lady in front of me in the queue. was gesturing rudely and talking loudly threatening the barista with a bad review if she did not get her item refunded ( which had been eaten all except a small bite) The barista (an American lady who i think was called Chelsea, was so cordial and professional, she spoke calmly and politely in spite of the woman’s provocation and unnecessary rudeness. Well done to her for maintaining her professionalism throughout, This growing culture of getting everything for nothing makes me fume, as they will stop at nothing, not even someone getting into trouble unfairly through their lies… Coffee”s were lovely and the staff were ALL polite and friendly we will be back. !

Sorry Muffin but for £2.70 your small lattè is the smallest lve ever had and is NOT good value for money!!! Wont be back! If the Muffin is so hard up for cash l would give you money for free. I like others work hard for our money and to get presented a coffee that wouldnt be out of place in a Dolls house is offending! And l have small hands!

We regularly pop in for a coffee and a sandwich. The food is good and the coffee is how I like it. Normally I would rate this establishment 4 stars but whilst the food is regularly good, the service can be sporadic depending on the amount of customers in at the time. It’s also a little pricey. All in all we are still visiting

I came here for coffee with a friend. Such a lovely little place. We got money off with "eat out to help out", but even without that discount the price would have been very reasonable, especially compared to other similar places. The coffee was really nice, not too bitter, not too weak. A good selection of muffins/cakes etc. We both opted for muffins. I had chocolate chip, which was yummy, and very chocolatey. The member of staff who served us was very friendly and made us smile. The decor in the place is nice too, and its not too large a place, so not overly crowded and busy. The track and trace was well done here. I havent seen that system done elsewhere, but there were QR codes on the tables to scan and then fill in your details from there. I liked that system. I will definitely be back to try out other types of muffin, and maybe some hot food next time

Really decent sized flat white (their medium was the size a lot of places seem to do as a large) Not the cheapest but it was good. My mums cappuccino was good too, and the apple and cinnamon muffin was tasty and moist. I'd happily go there again

Lovely place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Also I would recommend the square sausage on a roll. Very friendly and professional staff. They do a very nice flat white coffee.

Paid a visit here for a coffee and decided to make it lunch instead. We ordered two tuna sandwiches, two slices of carrot cake and two teas. The sandwiches looked good but were severely lacking in filling. I would guess no more than two teaspoons of tuna, a sprinkling of lettuce and an overdose of razor thin cucumber, NOT worth the £3.40 for pack of two which were also dry around the parts the "fillng" couldn't reach. The carrot cake was a decent sized slice (at more than £3.50 per slice you would expect that) but again this was quite dry and not the most enjoyable. At least the tea was ok and hot. Nice enough place but in my opinion the food definitely doesn't justify the cost.

Not looking for a meal, just a hot snack so gave this place a try. Quickly served and wife's toastie brought to the table. The toastie and the coffee were OK, but the microwaved sausage roll was still cold. Over priced and just not great, won't visit again.

Lovely cup of coffee & great muffins. A bit more expensive than other places in the centre but worth it. Nice clean cafe with pleasant staff. Would recommend.

Visited this weekend with my partner and arrived 45 mins before closing time to be told the panini machine was switched off (which left us with no choice of food to eat!) and the till had been counted so card only accepted. Ridiculous on a Saturday afternoon in a busy shopping centre. There was a new girl who had obviously just started and the other 2 members of staff (especially the male) spoke to her in a very cheeky and patronising manner in front of customers which I found really unprofessional too. Definitely won't be back after this as well as the seriously overpriced food!

We were in for coffee on a Monday morning. A loudmouth Scottish server was annoying me from the word go. During coffee she could be heard above everyone else and in my opinion was not professionally dressed even for a coffee bar. Ghen I noticed her going into the disabled toilet. Strange I thought. A couple of minutes later she emerged. Me, having the right to use disabled, went in immediately after. The first thing I did was look into the sink. BONE DRY! That can only mean the previous user did not use the sink to wash their hands. NEXT, she and a male colleague left through the back door for what I thought looked like a cigarette break. On their return neither of them washed their hands before resuming service. DISGUSTING AND THE HEIGHT OF NON EXISTANT HYGIENE!!!! Never again will I eat or drink anything in this place.

Lovely choice of paninis, sandwiches, quiches, pies and many other food choices. Smoothies, scones of unusual kinds, like coconut, hot drinks and crisps. Nice to spend some time here and relax, lots of things to takeaway and enjoy at home too.

Board outside advertising Egg and Bacon roll which I thought sounded good instead of a muffin with my latte. Not a freshly cooked egg or bacon just one lifted from the shelf and stuck in the oven. Overpriced at £3.95. Coffee was fine but again more expensive than other coffee shops.

They do things a little different here, they like to mix and match food combos that you would not do normally, like their latest creation a hot cross muffin!, yum yum. They also do milk sakes with muffins!, sounds weird but they are lovely!.

This place does tasty food & staff are really friendly but it's well overpriced for the portion size & what you get.

I usually go into the Stirling branch but this place was just as good. A great loyalty system and great coffee . Not a massive range of cakes and muffins but great quality.

Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Livingston, nice relaxed atmosphere, staff very friendly, coffee very nice and the muffins are delicious. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Nice place to stop for a wee coffee.Friendly staff and very helpful.The coffee was really quite nice, nothing special but still very good. No food on this visit, just a shopping rest and coffee required.Not too much more I can say as it was only coffee we stopped for, but if you are looking for a wee break when shopping. I can recommend here.

Muffin break is well situated within the Livingston Shopping Centre, clean & tidy, staff always pleasant, great choice of food,and snacks, Coffee is first class, best I have tasted in a long time, I am a regular customer when at the Centre, recommend a visit for anyone

I regularly visited this place for a medium vanilla latte. I really enjoy the coffee here, always served quick. Staff are very friendly, and efficient. Lovely booths to sit in and seating also that looks out to the rest of the shopping centre for people watching. In general I am not a big muffin fan, I usually just go there for coffee, but the muffins are nice and they also offer you them heated.

Was quieter there than costa and mu mum said that she like the coffee there. Service was really good but as it was busy they could have done with someone cleaning not only the tables but the floors (kid + muffin = most of it on the floor)

The decaff cappuccino here is really good, I like my coffee strong so also get an extra shot, but it is far superior to the costa coffee which always tastes like hot milk. Their peanut butter muffins are also to die for :-)

Visited to day as I get my coffee there every 2 wks to take to nail bar , coffee fab and the guy who served me today was so helpful ! Even put my sugar in my coffee ! Lol ! What more to you want ! Cakes are very nice too especially the fruit toast

In need of a pit stop we paused here whilst shopping to refuel and recharge. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 chicken pasta bakes. The coffees were served immediately, and the pasta was brought to our table shortly after. Prices are slightly on the high side for the quality, but it did the trick. We didn't hang around, and were quickly on our way again.

Stopped here for a mid-afternoon coffee on a Saturday shopping trip.It's a fairly standard coffee shop and the décor was nothing to shout about. Some tables were needing cleared, but it was a busy Saturday afternoon so that can be forgiven. The staff were all cheery and friendly enough.The coffee was fine and well made but sadly, for somewhere calling itself the "Muffin Break" the accompaniments were quite poor. For starters they had nothing even approaching a St Clements style muffin and when I asked what they had similar, was offered a pineapple one which they had actually run out of, or a "Mixed Berry". Neither of which are particularly citrus-based!Settling for a mixed berry one, I found it to be very dry - almost stale. Others in the family had similar problems with their cakes.Overall, it was alright for what it is but if I return I'll just stick to beverages.

Found staff friendly and food of a good standard, prices are reasonable for the centre. Good for lunch and coffee etc.

Popped in on Saturday for a coffee annd muffin. Was told when paying that they;d have to bring our coffee's over to us as all the cups were in the dishwasher! Seriously? Come on, buy more cups its not rocket science.The table was soaking, clearly just been cleaned which was good, but no attempt to dry it. i used napkins to wipe it and they were brown when i finished. So theyre probably cleaning with dirty cloths, nice.Coffee was fine, no complaints but the muffins were drier that the bottom of Billy the budgies cage. Far too expensive for what they were. wont be back.

I have been to this cafe numerous times. The staff are always excellent with their service. The last time I was in here I ordered a muffin which I'd ordered many times before. The muffin however had a strange dry taste and as if you could still taste the flour they use to make them. I also ordered a milkshake for the first time and had a similar issue with it. The milkshake had like an eggy flour taste to it. Am not sure what has happened as the muffins always used to be very good and moist. The staff are always amazing in this coffee shop though so that is why they have three stars on this occasion. the staff in there and are more attentive than some of the pricier restaurants that have been to like Toni Macaroni's Pizza hut etc.

Muffin Break is my favourite cafe in Livingston Centre. The coffee is excellent as is their huge variety of cakes. They also have a wide variety of sandwiches and toasted sandwiches as well as quiche. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the service is very good. Would recommend!

Not impressed tables dirty milkshakes like water and cake was dry won't be back, very disappointed.staff are friendly enough but don't give you enough time to choose.

I really enjoyed my afternoon coffee at 'Muffin Break' . The staff were really warm and pleasant and the young man and woman who dealt with my order made me wonder why other places cant find the same type of friendly staff. The coffee had a nice strong flavour and there was a surprising level of variety in the food available . Ill certainly return here and its a real contender for the centres award for best coffee shop.

Very friendly staff and food is good. Could do with more prompt table clearing at times. Nice to sit at outside tables and watch the world pass by.

Nice Coffee. Cakes looked better than they tasted. Cookie was very dry, should have returned it to be honest. millionaires shortbread was OK. Coffee was nice, but the mocha seemed overly sweet. nice clean premises tho. Will visit again, probably.

Husband and I had a coffee break today (Sunday afternoon) after a shopping spree. Pros: The cakes look fresh and we shared a piece of cheesecake. It was great and to our liking (not too sweet and heavy). Service was quick, staff were welcoming and friendly. Cons: The coffee was watery and didn't taste very nice. Only provide white sugar, no brown sugar. Cleanliness was an issue. We first chosen the seats at the back, then we moved near to the entrance due to the bad smell coming from the toilet. It was a total put off. Overall, I don't think we'll be back. Sorry!

Great location, decor, cleanliness and comfort. They do a gluten free selection which I have not seen before and apparently tastes.pretty good. Terrible carrot cake, dry and quite tasteless, frappe borders on false advertising and is a very poor version of some other chain cafes. Overall I would go somewhere else as the price was not low enough to make up for the poor quality. Staff were friendly but lacking training when it comes to fixing customer issues, ie they didn't!

Normally when we are looking for somewhere for lunch we end up in the usual places, costa, m+s, mcdonalds. But today we noticed that this place had opened near to M+S and thought we would try it for a change.First of all the décor and cleanliness was spot on, not trays lying on tables waiting to be cleared or wiped. the choice of Panini's, sandwiches and soups was great too, very fresh.Staff were all cheery and helpful making sure our kids food came first.We were also tempted by the hot mars bar muffin, very indulgent and leaves you wanting more.The main thing is, it was great value for money and for the four of us actually cheaper than where we would normally go.Recommend you try it out.

Looking for somewhere for a change from the High street coffee experts. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The place had a clean look about it, tables were cleared quickly and the toilets were also clean. Muffins looked very filling, however I opted for the Mars Cake, basically a rice crispy tray bake with a thick coating of dark chocolate and a thin slice of a Mars bar as the central decoration. The Latte was a let down, it appears the muffin break is just the same as the other High Street coffee experts and just put enough coffee into flavour it and if you want it stronger you need to pay for an extra shot to increase the strength. Perhaps its just my taste buds need a bit more flavour.On the other hand, my wife had a small pot of tea and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Popped into this coffee shop for the first time today. Nice atmosphere, pleasant music and very friendly staff. Last but not least the coffee was very good. Will certainly be back.
