Stop here many times on a walk up the Stover canal route. Simple cafe menu with bench seating and limited undercover seating. Always pleasant and friendly service. Worth a stop on your walk.

Hidden gem, I discovered this place in the pouring rain whilst riding my bike, had a most excellent bacon roll and mug of tea, followed by just the best homemade selection of cake. Really nice spot !

We have been visiting MT Tums for a long time and always got great food and drink. This time we chose new loaded fries (big portion, I went for delicious halloumi, peppers and sauce on top, highly recommend) and a build-your-own-burger with blue cheese (big slab of it as well) and hash brown. Scrummy slice of fresh cake after. Can only say it was fabulous. Daniel was on form with his banter and high energy, always lovely to see him. We will be back!!👍

Friendly, good grub, with seating outside or under cover. Toilet available. On the Stover Trail so a great place to stop for a rest and refuel when cycling or walking. Although you can also get here by road however there is limited car parking. It's 'different'. And worth a visit. I now go regularly.

Hidden gem Stumbled across this place accidentally whilst trying out a different walk along the stover canal from jetty marsh. Could smell the bacon!Saw a A board but couldn’t initially see the place. The owners were friendly and the hot drinks were welcome and reasonably priced. The sausage baps were very good and also very good value for money. Would recommend & visit again if walking in the area

Having a nice stroll along the Stover Trail coming out of Newton Abbot , behind the hospital and realised it would bring us out at MT Tums. Seemingly built out of wood sheds, pallets and tea chests this cafe is great . Homemade cakes , good food , reasonable prices and you can pay cash or card. So a hot chocolate, a coffee and two bacon and egg baps for £8+ , loads of bacon and good baps .

Just swung by MT tums to pick up some baps (Bacon, egg and cheese)...Delicious!!I think its my favourite place in Newton to grab a bap! Highly recommend and it's now open 7 days a week which is the only place locally open on a sunday. Can't go wrong really. Get yourself down there for some good grub!

My partner and I come here pretty often with our goldendoodle. We love it here especially as a Sunday treat! The sausages are out of this world! Coffees are lovely and all the cakes are made fresh by the owners wife and they are georgeous! Many gluten free options too! This place is a hidden gem in Newton Abbot and we are lucky to have them in our backyard! Xx Chelsea, Mark and Brody!

Great value, enthusiastic, knowledgeable owner. I am a pescatarian and am usually wary regarding cafes. Rest assured the owner cooked my two eggs in a separate pan with a pan over the top to cover it away from any possible meat juices. A double egg bap and coffee for £3.30 - delicious after an 18 mile bike ride - there is nothing not to like. Well done and good luck - I will be returning.

We have been visiting this cafe for some time after walking our dog. The owner is always friendly and he provides good basic food/drinks at a very reasonable price. I can recommend the bacon baps! The place is quite makeshift which doesn’t matter if you are out walking.

We had come to the Stover Trail as Dartmoor was too windy & when I was checking the route I noticed this place, so that was an ideal turnaround point .

We were cycling the Stover Trail from Bovey Tracey and came across this great little eatery - actually I smelt bacon cooking before I actually saw the cafe and that guided me in. Lovely people and really great food. Such places are hard to find these days and is well worth a visit or two or three...The prices were excellent as well

Stopped here today and had bacon rolls and a cup of tea. Didnt break the bank and it was brilliant. Freshly cooked and staff were excellent. This place really should be for more than the walkers, bikers and passing hungry motorist. It really is a hidden gem. Great food, great service, great rustic sitting area - just great. Well done owners.

Stopped off for a quick coffee and bite to eat. Pleasantly surprised, the food and coffee were excellent. Dan the owner very friendly and informative of the area. Our quick stop turned into quite a lengthy one, long enough to enjoy an excellent bacon roll and a large slice of his freshly baked almond and cherry cake. Can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be visiting again and again and again. Thanks Dan.

Lovely little cafe with superbly priced food. Friendly owner and nice food. What was even better was that the egg in my sausage and egg sandwich was runny. Too few places manage that.

We visited yesterday while walking dogs. Had lovely drinks and home-made cakes at fraction of the price it would cost at a coffee chain or typical tourist cafe. Very friendly service and welcoming to the dogs. Environmentally friendly furniture with seat pads to sit on- a great idea! We were lucky with the weather-sunny and warm; it's probably less pleasant when cold and wet. Perhaps the owner will add an indoor area in time.

Situated just off the Exeter road, where the Stover cycle way crosses, a new little cafe , ideal for cyclists and walkers using the trail. It has plenty of outside seating but no indoor, only so good for fair weather only. There are a couple of parking spaces if you come by car. Not open on Tuesdays and Wednesadys I think. Simple food from bacon butties to flapjacks . All very reasonable prices and the most welcoming ,cheery staff. On a chilly February day , it was ideal for our group of cyclists to get a warming cuppa.

Was on the lookout for gluten free options and after walking miles around Teignmouth I'd given up hope! Until I came across this little gem..!! So many options to me for lunch and an amazing selection of cakes and scones. I opted for a jacket potato and it was served with a salad which I thought was such a nice touch so many places don't do this. Iced coffee and lemon cake - all gluten free! Can't wait to visit again and bring my kids next time. It was in a good location and the tables were spaced perfectly, it was clean and the owner was super friendly - what more do you want?! Would highly recommend

I did a review nearly a year ago and don't know why we haven't been back sooner. We had a delicious Sunday roast today and shared a gorgeous Strawberry Cheese cake. Extremely good value meal and the Dartmoor Legend a good price too. The place is spotless the staff are attentive I would highly recommend the Rising Sun.
