M&S Cafe in City of London, Westminster

I was looking for a light healthy lunch at the Marble Arch cafe, but could not see a salad that did not include coleslaw. Sadly, I opted for "the big breakfast". This consisted of sausages, streaky bacon, 2 poached eggs, a slice of white bread toasted, a fried mushroom and fried mashed potatoes. It looked unappetising when it arrived. The mushroom was rubbery, the eggs not quite cooked enough. The sausages tasted of nothing but old, reheated fat and the fried mashed potatoes were equally unpalatable. It was the worst breakfast plate I had ever been presented with by a long way. Why not serve some of that delicious healthy food that is on sale in the food hall? The on line menu for the cafe shows some nice looking salads, but unfortunately on the day there were none of those. Not surprisingly the Cafe was half empty at a normally busy time just after 1 pm.

Called for lunch at 2pm Wednesday 26 June and found we were just in time for afternoon tea served from 2pm! And what a treat it all was. A tasty selection of sandwiches, two big fruit scones with clotted cream and jam with fresh strawberries and three small cakes each plus plenty of tea. Finding we ‘hadn’t room' for the smaller cakes staff obligingly gave us a box to put them in for later. All this for £10 per head. Excellent value and friendly staff - all credit to M&S! We will certainly come back for more. Sue and Jean.

Many M&S cafe's have deteriorated in recent years but my experience here was excellent. Very quiet when I was in but the staff were very polite, drinks ready almost immediately following payment and my roll & sausage arrive seconds after I sat down. The waitress was a perfect example of what you would want in a customer facing role. Trust that a similar experience would be repeated when busy.

My friends and I mainly popped in to warm up in all honesty. It was a particularly bracing day. The staff member on the till was very comedic and friendly. We all enjoyed our drinks particularly the festive Colin the Caterpillar hot chocolate.

The new order and wait system does not work for me. No saucers and no spoon with your hot drink and the fast food attitude is a dumbing down poor experience. Did the management who introduced this concept use M&S before and do they use the Cafe now !?!

This WAS a regular tea and snack stop for us and we visited it on Sunday 28/8/2022 prior to going to a show. Last time we visited I gave it 5 stars. Today it only merits 1. Why ? We bought two drinks, two sandwiches and two cakes at 1655. At 1707, whilst still eating our sandwiches, which were a bit dry, we were rudely interrupted by a member of staff saying we would have to hurry up as they would need to clear our cutlery as they would soon be closing. It is a very rare occurrence that I am stuck for words but I was on this occasion, mainly because of "the way the member of staff was dressed" I would probably been accused of racism if I had responded to her so I kept quiet. We don't expect this sort of rudeness from M&S and won't be coming back here anymore.

We visited this branch yesterday after eating at a restaurant in the area. There wasn't anything to tempt us at the restaurant for dessert so we left to have drinks and cakes here. I had lemon drizzle cake and a tea; my wife had carrot cake and a cappucinno. All were very good. The lady that served us was very helpful and offered to bring our tray to our table, without us having to ask, as she noticed our mobility issues. Other M & S Cafe branches take note !!

Served a hot chocolate and cake by Blair who was very polite and helpful, would definitely recommend picking up something to eat here!

My adult daughter and l visited the 3rd floor cafe yesterday. It was late in the afternoon and we choose a pot of tea each, a delicious cake and shortbread biscuits. What l really wanted to comment on was the outstanding customer service given by the gentleman who served us. He was on his own but remained polite,professional, calm, cheerful and efficient. We are both NHS nurses and we’re impressed by the way staff helped some of the elderly customers. We also noticed how staff carefully washed down all the kitchen equipment and all the tables in the (large) Cafe. This Cafe is a spacious and light environment, serving quality M and S fare. The Staff here deserve praise for their standard of work.

I had avocado on toast with poached eggs The bread was dry, the avocado very bland and the poached eggs pre cooked and cold Bit of spinach and no dressing Tap water in dispenser was hot Horrible cafe with very low ceiling and no atmosphere

Toilets on Cafe Level [3rd Foor] out of order and blocked off. Directed by staff to basement toilet facilty. Long trudge to find them. Appallingly badly designed. More akin to 'miniature' facilities expected to be found in a school for small children. Extmely uncomfortable experience. Will avoid this store in future!

M & S take away situated on the corner of Fleet Street and Farringdon Street it was really noisy, as extremely loud noise was coming from within the building. The staff who worked there were both friendly and helpful. The cafe was very clean and there was seating inside and also takeaway was available. Teas, coffees and fruit drinks were available as well as snack food and fruit. Both wine and flowers were also available to buy.

I ordered cheese and onion bake this is so crispy and filling a reasonable portion and a latte I enjoyed these two products

Attended here on a Sunday. Attended the cafe as it opened (late). Wasn’t acknowledged at the till as staff too busy making sure the displays were full. The tables had not been cleaned so we found the cleanest one. When the drinks were brought over it felt like they were thrown at us. Poor customer service. The sign on the wall said “this is not just a cafe, this is a M and S cafe”. Not what we expected

As mentioned earlier, the Marks and Spencers Christmas Dinner was on my list to try but the smaller branches don't offer it. Luckily I was checking something out on Oxford Street so went to Marks and Spencers for the Christmas dinner while everyone in town was probably going for more sophisticated choices. It was late in the afternoon and relatively busy, overall it was quick to queue and pay but the drinks counter was holding up the queue. After paying for the dinner, queued for the tea which took a while then sat down and waited for the dinner. When it arrived, it looked just as good as the product shot with lots of gravy. Everything on the plate was delicious so I would definitely recommend the Christmas Dinner.

We were really tired after shopping and we stopped in for a rest and a small something. We decided on hot chocolate and some shortbread cookies. It was a really good idea and after a short rest we were able to continue with our shopping

The experience is just ok. When it’s compared to what’s on offer in this part of the city there really isn’t a reason to go here. Room is drab and it feels old fashioned. But if you want a quick drink/scone on a days shopping it’s fine.

I guess we were there after the lunch rush, but we got a table with no problems and picked up a sandwich to eat. Great selection and good prices. Hot food also availble. It's not the Ritz, but for a quick meal, you can't beat...

I've eaten both in cafe and the food to go downstairs...and that is far better! Both do hot drinks and snacks, I find the food to go ore choice...PLUS you can buy it from the store and eat it there....saves lot of money!

Pls avoid coming here below average service hours to get a simple lemonade ! Staff seem absolutely clueless l

We walked past and thought we would stop for a coffee and we wasn't disappointed, the roof top terrace was lovely, clean and relaxing. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Went on a Thursday afternoon with a friend. It was very hot that day (26 Celsius). I had the Victoria sponge and my friend had the lemon drizzle cake, both very warm. Would i go there again? Probably not.

We found the hotel Breakfasts far too expensive, and looked for alternatives. M and S great ! The £5 Specials excellent quality, including a large coffee.

It's a good place to just take a break after shopping or checking out the sale and promos of the whole M&S. The cafe has good pastry and hot drinks. Perfect for cold weather. The cafe however is small and has limited menu choices.

We went for a quick bite to eat in the basement at M&S. It's simple but does the trick. Best to go early before the lunch crowd arrives. There is also limited seating.

The 3rd floor cafe in M&S flagship Marble Arch store is pretty poor. Generic, sterile styling, unfathomable layout, tasteless weak tea, unmotivated staff, why bother? Not appropriate for the M&S brand. Could be so much better.

Christmas shopping in M&S Oxford Street / Marble Arch at this time of year is unbearable. The heating is on far too high! It's NOT comfortable at all. I had to go out before I fainted. Long queue's at every cash till... When I complained...

A small meal was partaken here, and it was a bit disappointing. Dry and small serving, served in a locale taken straight out of the 80s.
