Not good. Quite a few menu items were not available. One or two of the staff had a disappointing attitude. Not what you would normally expect from M&S staff.

Midweek lunch with 3 kids during the “eat out to help out” promotion. Arrived at 1pm and many items were already out of stock such as the kids juice cartons for the meal deal and all but one flavour of toastie and jacket potato! Staff were overstretched with no one clearing tables while we were there you have to take them over to a counter at the side yourself which is fine but then would be good to have access to spray and cloth to wipe the tables. The food that we did get, though not our first choice was great quality, and the kids ate it all it so maybe was good to branch out! Good for people watching if you get a table by the window - excitement spotting buses and a lady with purple hair :)

We came today, we thought is was a good experience. Very clean and spacious cafe. The usual high quality M and S food. Very friendly and polite staff. Sit by the window for unlimited people watching

Nice environment and convenient place for afternoon tea. But very slow sometimes for the waiting times. Overall is good.

Visited m and s coffee shop, where as usual it takes forever to make a coffee. Plus every table was covered in cups and saucers and obviously had not been cleared for ages. Could the culture in the coffee shop be an example with what’s wrong with m and s as a whole.

Worth a visit for the view across the High Street and towards the Church. Cafe can be rather busy and also slightly bland with its decor and atmosphere. Not bad but probably only convenient if in store anyway. Actually prefer the coffee shop opposite.

Wouldn’t go in at all. My toastie wasn’t toasted and was both soggy and hard at the same time (yes that is possible) kids sandwich had no butter and was dry. Coffee wasnt hot. Stick to the tea shop I think it’s called 89 lovely food and service

The food was good, a bit pricy. There are a lot of moms and elderly meeting up in the café. Would go somewhere else next time when I want to sit down. Because of the window it is a great people spotting place though.

My wife and I often drink coffee in various Costas and enjoy them. We have decaf coffee and usually coconut milk latte. We went to the Costa in Shenfield and ordered the above. It was so weak it was like drinking hot milk. My wife complained and the server very kindly put an extra shot of coffee in each cup, but not much difference. £8 wasted.

Friendly local pub. Lovely food with lots of choice (portions too big for me) and pleasant staff. Will definitely be going back soon.
