M&S Cafe in Ceredigion

After having a bad experience once before we thought we would give the cafe another go..... big mistake !! I appreciate times are difficult at the moment but one member of staff taking orders and making the drinks whilst there was at least 10 people behind me waiting in the queue was ridiculous. I was 2nd in the queue and waited 25 mins for 2 coffees and a hot chocolate, the poor young lad was under pressure but was very polite under the circumstances. Unfortunately when I got to my table our drinks were cold , which was very disappointing given the time we waited for them. I will definitely not be returning again unfortunately. Plenty of other places to get better service and a hot drink . I have worked in this line of business for many years and understand how difficult it can be on times, but given all the bad reviews of the cafe it s time to do something about it !!

I visited the cafe a few days ago , my mum and I were wanting cake and tea . Unfortunately I was disappointed that the cakes weren't homemade, and were very expensive, so we just had tea, which was lovely, but we were given very little milk so I had to go back for some more, the staff were understaffed i assume , as we waited another five minutes for more milk. We weren't given a biscuit even though they were their in a bowl. The main reason that urged me to write a review was how dirty the cafe was , I failed to find a clean chair , while looking for one i noticed how dirty the floor was and most of the tables had dishes on them. This was a shame as the cafe is lovely and the view superb. More staff were needed as the staff did not stop the whole time we were there . I v worked in this kind of businesses and know how difficult it can be, happy staff makes happy customers = well established businesses !!!

There are lots of great breakfast places in Aberystwyth- Sophies or Little Devils which have supplied me with superb, interesting and tasty breakfasts. However I was shopping in M and S and was using their rather superb toilets when I spotted the cafe. It was light and had good views of aber and the picture of their full breakfast lured me in. How could I have been so stupid? The reality was very different. What’s in the breakfast? 2 poached eggs, 2 bits of bacon, 1 sausage , tomatoes, mushrooms and 2 slices of toast. When it came the toast rather dominated the plate. There were quite a few tomatoes but they had zero taste although I dowsed then with black pepper. The mushrooms were slices and probably did not constitute one mushroom. The bacon was anaemic. The poached eggs looked ok and had some yolk. The sausage was fine. However everything was cold or lukewarm. The toast was so stone cold the butter would not melt. In fact everything was cold. I complained but got nowhere. Marks and Spencer’s please note that food needs to be hot and a cold breakfast is just so unprofessional. Even my peppermint tea was tepid as usually I have to wait for it to cool down but had no need to wait. It was obvious the teapot had not been warmed up either. So the message is walk into town and go to either Little Devils in Terrace Road or Sophie’s in North Parade.

Called in to the cafe last Friday. My wife went to the counter and ordered a Cappuccino Coffee with extra shot, and no chocolate on top. The first effort was a Cappuccino WITH CHOCOLATE, which my wife refused to accept. Second Effort, a Cappuccino without chocolate, but when my wife stated to drink it, she could tell that it was without the extra shot, she returned to the counter, but had to pay for an expresso coffee to supplement the second attempt. In all, this cappuccino cost £5.05!.M&S Aberystwyth is a nice shop, but keep clear of the cafe.

very clean and bright, however the staff were very slow in clearing the tables. Had the biggest toilets i have seen in any M & S store

Sometimes long queue waiting and only one or two serving.- sometimes only one serving. Needs more staff and staff working to supply customers rather than talking at back!!Coffee is poor quality Little difference between filter Americano and single origin- except in price!! Very weak coffee you can almost see through. Yet price is still high! One needs to ask for a biscuit. Water jug often empty. This cafe needs to be reorganised quickly.

Great for a drink and snack; good range of cakes. Quiet relaxed atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Good choice for coffee - can't comment on cooked meals but there are better places in town for this.

Upon ariving at the car park in Aberystwyth this was the first cafe we found. Its was a good size and nice drinks

Good, clean cafe serving drinks and snacks (usually produce sold in their food hall). Excellent parking. As this cafe forms part of the department store it is very handy to pop in and have a drink/snack whilst out shopping/browsing.

Marks and Spencer food and beverages are second to none comfortable surroundings and easy access into the restaurant.

Visited for breakfast as Tesco’s weren’t serving hot food. Didn’t mind paying extra cost as expected something better. Instead it was almost inedible with cold poached eggs - cold on the outside and almost uncooked inside. Never again.

We visit M&S; cafe when in Aberystwyth. My husband has had lovely soup, and chicken burger in a bun. Last time I had a cheese scone which was delicious. Drinks are also thoroughly recommended. Lots of cakes on offer as well.

Looking forward to a tidy lunch but asked for curry, no curry. Asked for all day breakfast, no poached egg, fried....no only scrambled. Baked potato and chilli. Need a bit more taste in the chilli but the baked potato was excellent.

Clean and modern M&S; cafe. Not usually bursting at the seams. We call in for cake and coffee when we visit. The usual selection that M&S; offer.

Excellent cafe with easy parking and great views from the cafe especially if you sit in the window seats. Good choice of hot and cold good although they could expand the range and improve the prices just a bit. Otherwise an excellent location and will definatly return.

Obviously it's M&S; and it's a cafe. But at least you are guaranteed that the food is excellent fresh and totally uncontaminated--enjoy your food with total reliability!!!

Popped in today for lunch. We both chose jacket potatoes, mine with tuna and mayo, my partner had ham and cheese. Not a long wait and nice to walk into a cafe and see all the tables cleared. Only one little tiny thing. Alongside our potatoes sat a small salad, just enough BUT please can I ask that you cut the cherry tomatoes in half. I have a vision of sticking my fork in and it shooting across the room landing on someone else's plate. Other than that, nice place with nice staff.

Myself and my partner came here on 26th March to shop. I had a voucher as a birthday present. We thought we would treat our selves to a birthday lunch. We are both pensioners so have to watch our pennies. We had fish and chips with peas. The chips were under cooked and the fish was awful, I think it had been kept warm for ages.

How great to have lovely coffee and cakes in the relaxed environment within the M and S complex. The cafe is always welcoming of families and children and have good baby changing facilities which are always kept clean.

I called after visiting my mother in hospital, I had millionaire shortbread and a skinny hot chocolate. I then went on to work from 11AM, because I was on the premises.

An extremely pleasant environment for coffee and cakes with young children/babies with great views of Aberystwyth. Staff attentive to needs of customers with a very efficient manager at the helm and we are fortunate to have an M and S in the locality

Exceiient quality as always with M&S;,superbly clean good service varied choice of food and beverages,can get very busy ,so if you don't mind waiting a little at these times your patience will be rewarded.

Extremely busy over the festive season but especially pleasant when quieter. The Manager is extremely pleasant and helpful.

If you are fortunate enough to get a window view you will not be disappointed by the spectacular view of the beautiful scenery surrounding Aberystwyth. The wholemeal /brown toast is particularly to be recommended.

As thebtitle suggest everything was utterly spotless !!! The ham and cheese toastie was toasted perfectly and the accompanying coffee was excellent. Reccomended.

Marks and Spencer is one of the things I like about going to the UK on holiday. Their clothing is of excellent quality and shopping about a bit in the store can turn up some good bargains.

Not very busy , plenty of choice where to sit . It took a long time to wait for our coffee . The coffee was nice , but if you want it weak , you will have to ask for a weak one . The views from the windows are good , if you are lucky enough to get a table by them .

Good service, clean, nice food and tea - but overpriced (nice bacon roll - but £3.75, and cakes generally too expensive (£3).

Store is very nice as Marks and Spencer always is. The food was of very good quality & reasonable cost it's just that the portion sizes were a little on the small side. I had the fish & chips which was one of the smallest ice ever had. Other than that it was fabulous

M&S; opened their Aberystwyth store in March 2017. The cafe is on the top floor and accessed by lift. There are also facilities for disabled shoppers. I visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm looking for a bowl of soup and a coffee.
