Arrived in Liverpool for the first time, needed the loo so thought we'd pop into M&S. Didn't feel it right to use the facilities without making a purchase so we bought sandwiches and tea (which was served in takeaway cups!), I asked for a small amount of milk but was handed a milky tea with the tea bag still in. I asked the cashier if there was a toilet and she said yes and pointed around the corner, there was ONE disabled toilet for which there was a queue. My partner meanwhile eventually managed to get us a table. After eating some of the less than pleasant £5 sandwich we got up to leave as other folk were waiting to sit. At this point my partner went to use the loo but was told he had to go to the front door and join the queue!! We left absolutely disgusted, how can a paying customer be directed back out of the cafe to queue to use the facility???!!! Ridiculous! M&S do better! We will not be visiting your cafe's again, would rather visit the local Wetherspoons ...cheaper, bigger and more toilets!! Ps Would have given no stars but unable to post this review unless I give at least 1*

Food sanitary issue in the Cafe! As I was grabbing for a sausage roll for my toddler at the cafe, I saw flies landing on the pastries and thus pointed out to the staff. This lady serving at the cafe took a very arrogant attitude and I was even shocked when she said the flies were around all day around landing on the bakeries and she said that was absolutely normal?! While I don’t think that is normal …I am concerned with the food safety there for my baby and walked away without buying. Can anybody let me know if food is absolutely normal with flies landing around all day?! Is this M&S standard?

We are regular clients of this M&S, the guards are familiar with us by now. Unfortunately yesterday, I had a casual shopping and wanted to try some items on female clothing line. Went in to the changing rooms, lady was so hostile. She asked me how many items I said 5, when she gave me the number 5 she hold stronger and I had to pull it awkwardly. Anyway whatever. When I came out she tried to be polite and formal. But I saw her face was so different when serving me and the customer after me, her face lit up on the latter. Idk whats wrong I came in dressed very politely, I dont even have a bag/purse so no way Im trying to steal. If she’s smart she would’ve seen that. my husband also came and sit on the waiting space like a normal person. I’ve had bra fitting here before and lady was soo lovely. Just this one time, I’ve been faced with either a hater or just a same ol same ol racist. But I’d rather take my business elsewhere. Why shop in a place that doesnt want you there?

Would love to know who was behind the design of the new store. To have only one toilet in the entire store is pretty poor. Not great if you're a shopper with young children. It's well known that M&S clothes are not the same quality as in the past, but sadly customer service has declined too. Unable to return a pair of jeans despite a manager stating they were faulty. Food court is nice food but is expensive, even compared to places like Waitrose.

This new M&S has a very trendy feel. Set across the lower two floors of the old Debenhams, it has a very different vibe to the old one. Enter and face two tiny escalators; men and food upstairs, women and homewares down - the general atmosphere is one of bustle; not at all like the serene quiet of its predecessor. The men’s section is large, with a good choice. There are self service tills for clothes - a revelation! You can see where they removed the escalators to the upper floors. A sad reminder of the end of Debenhams. The food hall feels cramped and the sandwiches are far from the door - the old food hall was also cramped though, so perhaps this is simply the way. The food remains very good, but there is more emphasis these days on fancy foods and less on the simple. Overall it’s ok - a decent shop but feel less inclined to browse than previously. They want you in and out here swiftly I think. Convenient for Liverpool One, the food terrace and the Crown Court.

It's ok but the self checkouts are a bit odd, as many items are security tagged but there is no way for customers to remove the tags themselves, so a member of staff is required to assist. Surely it would be better to have manned tills, though I suppose that would mean having to actually spend money on employing people 🙄

I came away with one new bra and suggestions for which to order into the shop (they didn't have my size in all styles). I will never go to this shop again. Marks and Spencer you sadly let yourselves and your customers down. The ONE toilet is off a cafe, men, women, and disabled all share the same toilet which is accessed via the cafe/snack bar meaning the queue snakes itself via cafeteria tables. The layout of the new store ŵas somewhat akin to another off the shelf store in town in style and accessability being disabled made it difficult to find what I was looking for. To my dismay we searched for where to pay and found self service tills. State of the art machines with one helper to hand. Definately keeping the number of jobs down. Well done Marks & Spencer we won’t be coming back. Looking for somewhere to have a drink and a scone led me to hastily leave your store and off to John Lewis where shopping satisfaction was restored and I actually spent some money.

Before I start my updated review, I must state that I have always been a faithful shopper of M and S. After visiting its new location at Liverpool One, I must say I preferred its old location on Church Street, more spacious, and better choice of items. It comes across with the move to Liverpool One, that M and S don't value their customers as much as they would have them believe. The trend now is towards online shopping ( which I have nothing against) but not everybody wants to shop that way, some people prefer to see what there buying before making a purchase. Its all about making money with as little inconvenience to the stores as possible. This shows in the cafe they have now, way to small, customers probably loved the old store because the cafe was lovely and spacious, and a nice place to relax in. The most annoying aspect of the new location is the lack of toilet facilities. God help older customers with bladder issues who may need the toilet and may not want to run around trying to find one. Also pregnant women or people with disabilities. (Shame on M and S for not considering this) My closing sentence they need to rethink there strategy.

Star rating based entirely on the cafe experience which was extremely poor. Cafe is tiny for a flagship store of this size. Dirty, over crowded and only paper cups for drinks and paper bags for food. So,so disappointed on my first visit to the new store. So much smaller than the old location further up church street, very limited stock and a tiny cafe. No way does this compare at all. Such a shame. I know it's easy to go online to order, I often do, but browsing in the big m and s in town was always a good experience, then sitting, chatting the massive cafe afterwards, all part of the experience. The new cafe is tiny and doesn't encourage you to stay, looks more like it caters for a drink to go. Why do this opposite a costa, which now looks like the better venue? I feel quite sad at the loss of the old store. Looked for clothes, my size not in stock.Looked at homewear, barely a display...not a lot of choice. Often shopped at M&S in the City centre ( both bought all our clothes there ) after our shopping always enjoyed lunch there, never again, the new so-called Cafe is nothing but a disgrace. Having waited a good 10 minutes to get one of the far few tables ( which looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned all day ) we took it upon ourselves to clean it. Our order was served in two paper bags, our coffee in paper cups which we had to fetch ourselves, no cutlery available, no paper serviettes available. All the time we spent there, was sitting next to between 6/10 standing persons waiting for the one available toilet. Went to the cafe at M and S Liverpool. It is not even one 20th of the size of the old one on Church Street. Good luck trying to get a table! All hot drinks served in paper cups and the coffee is just not upto the standards you would expect. There is a toilet located in the cafe and people queue past the tables which makes a small cafe very cramped and claustrophobic. Very disappointed and although there are pluses with with the easy access to Liverpool 1 car park there are far better cafes throughout the city that will be getting my business.

Really miss the restaurant in the old shop, it was always busy, but offered good food for an affordable price. And the lack of toilets now is just ableist as hell. The food section is bright and well stocked, but the rest of the shop lacks the old charm. So a missed opportunity and poor planning from some suits in London.

Great coffee. Scones are usually the best we've tasted at National Trust properties. They are happy to accommodate dogs at the outside tables and have fresh drinking water for them. Scones were back to their usual best today!! five stars!

We didn't eat but the service, coffee, and atmosphere were lovely. I'll certainly visit again
