Spiceways Contemporary Indian Restaurant in Liverpool

Avoid, took over 2 hours, overworked staff kept saying 15 mins or on the way instead of giving realistic timescale. Also arrived luke warm and missing items. Not worth it.

Food was mostly good and would be a good takeaway besides the lamb chops being just grizzle and bone. Unfortunately, this was all ruined by the constant phone ringing and the clearly overworked and stressed waiters who couldn't answer the phone and chose not to mute it and also seemed generally unhappy with their work.

Terrible service and delivery, waited over an hour and 50 mins for very average food and no apology gesture for the delay

This is our go to place. The food is incredible and the service is amazing. Highly recommend!

We visited here for the first time with a friend. It's a lovely place with extremely welcoming, helpful staff. My partner loves spicy food, my friend doesn't like hers hot, and I have lots of food intolerances. They couldn't have been any more helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The menu is huge and the bar well stocked. Prices are quite reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Just eat delivery oh god never again....curries were inedible

Seven of us Came here 1st time for daughters 30thwhat was ruined.. Starters came out all different times so people had finished when others arrived ..Ordered lamb masala hubby ordered chefs special others chicken massala Hubby said chicken tasted funny i tasted it an had to spit it out it was awfull like rotted meat taste..Tasted grandaughters hers tasted like rotted meat..1 tasted ok ..There attitude was had no complaints today ..maybe you never served rotted meat earlier..so advice dont eat there or be sick 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Went for my birthday with my 5 friends food was absolutely amazing totally recommend it we all had something different. Staff were wonderful couldn't do enough to please us great atmosphere hope to go back soon.

Take away delivery absolutely awful. Added an extra starter to what I ordered, was supposed to arrive in 1 hour and came in 2 hours. Food was lukewarm at best, tandoori king prawns and pilau rice had no flavour and we're weirdly tough and stretchy, didn't even eat one as not sure if because they were sat in the box for that long or what! Lamb chops weren't great!Would I order again... deffo no!

We ordered a selection of vegetarian dishes via the website and went to collect. The staff were all so friendly and we would definitely dine in the restaurant in the future. Each of the dishes were cooked perfectly. The chilli tikka paneer was especially delicious but everything we ordered was super fresh and really good value for money! So glad we chose this place and will definitely go back again soon.

Went for my birthday on Christmas eve . Meal was fabulous couldn't fault it.

All bunged up, I needed something to get my nose running! The Madras did just that! Ordered onion bhajis to start, I'd have enjoyed more if they were a little bigger as they felt a bit too crispy but still enjoyable! Chicken tikka madras was lovely, just the right amount of heat and enough chicken. Keema pilau was tasty very nice! Star of the show... Peshwari Naan... The naan was baked to perfection, a nice crisp to the undercarriage and soft on top was a lovely accomplishment to the curry! If the set meal for one allowed you to pick from a selection of curries and naans, I would probably order from here every week!

Needs a bit of work on rice dishes others where really tasty and the staff are just lovely and have a good memory and converse appropriately 5 stars for them

Ordered a takeaway that arrived over an hour later than told. But after tasting it would have been happy if it never arrived. Poppodums atrocious and tiny had the texture of baked as opposed to regular fried crisps. Onion bhaji under cooked and wet and gooey inside. Main of chicken Shishlack devoid of any spices and flavourless. Oh and I paid £3.40 to Deliveroo for delivery but was delivered by Spiceways staff. Shocking in every respect

We went last night and had a gorgeous meal. Me and the kids really enjoyed it. Not too spicy. Nice and warm. Also the service was so friendly and welcoming. Shab was lovely and the other waiter too. Great food and great service. We will be back! See you soon. :):):)

Not even giving food a star, I would usually eat anything even if the family say its bad which they did but I could not touch it. My wife took a mouth full & spat it out so I said get a grip, taking a fork full my self...Good god I spat it in the bag it came in, my kids found this very amusing. I could not even describe the taste even if I wanted too, it was vile. NEVER AGAIN.

Don't bother ordering a take away if you want to eat it. We ordered in advance because we know Saturdays are busy. Even though the website offers this possibility e.g. to order at 7pm for an 8:15pm delivery, it's either ASAP or never. At 8:30pm I rang to ask if the food was on its way. After a call to the kitchen they said it was, though it was clear that this was the first the kitchen had heard of the order. At 9pm I rang again and they said it had left with the driver. At 9:15pm, one hour after agreed delivery time and several hours after the order was placed, it still wasn't here and since we had guests we ordered elsewhere. By the time the delivery driver turned up at gone 9:30pm with the food we had already paid for the order elsewhere and so had to say we could no longer take the delivery.

Never left a review in my life but couldn’t help it with this. Easily the blandest scran I’ve ever ate. Had a Dhansak and Rogan Josh and they both tasted the same somehow. Got binned anyway 😂

Great food and service was excellent

Arrived 30 mins later than estimated. Madras was really spicy yet somehow had no taste and the mixed kebab was just a few tiny pieces of meat. Never again.

Food was great - Karai was a little hotter than I expected, but chillis vary and I enjoy a bit anyway. Plenty of chicken - I opted for the chicken tikka over standalone and for this curry it works spectacularly. I was a little surprised by the chicken chaat coming with a very pasanda-like sauce, but despite not being a huge lover of nuts I enjoyed it - and I may well have missed this in the menu description, as it's something I often order from my local place. Slightest complaint here is that the outside could have been crispier, but that's my preference. Keema naan was perfect, might be a little smaller than some are used to - it's not bigger than your face like at some places! - however, this is because they're not stretched so far, so they still have some denser, doughy edges to enjoy! Staff were lovely, checked in often enough to reassure that any issues - though we had none in our party of four - would be swiftly taken care of, whilst not hovering and making it feel rushed. Papadums would have been kept well topped up if I'd given in to simply using them as a way to convey as much chutney to my face as possible - but alas I refrained. Would have been worth it though. I'd recommend that fans of Indian food give this place a visit if they're in the area. If traffic backs up at the Fiveways then local drivers might have time for a quick curry supper (and probably a pint across the road at the pub). Easy enough to avoid if you want to visit, though! Thanks Spiceways for a fab meal!

Pointless even ordering. Delivery said 25/35 minutes, waited 40 minutes checked app to see where it was and Uber told me to contact the restaurant, after trying to bell them 5 times and them just picking it up and putting it down, I got through and spoke to what sounded like the manager who said it would be another 20 minutes, so I said will it actually be 20 minutes or are you just saying that to which he replied ‘the chef needs to prepare the food’ so by the sounds of things they’d done zilch for 40 minutes. Ordered at 5:30 on a Monday.

Ordered take away for delivery, we were told it will be 1hr. Waited an hour, called them, they said they'd be another 15 minutes. It didn't arrive, when we called they hung up on us. I'll never use again

if I could give zero starts I would , This is not endian food it a bland mess with lots of food colouring added to the mix and loads of oil , I cant convey how really bad this take away was , I can cook a better curry myself and save myself some money in future , I mean how these types of places stay in business is beyond me All these other reviews are false , I have never had such a awful indian takeway in my life , you have been warned

If you are a vegetarian, then please don't waste your money at this restaurant. I ordered the Dahl sambar, which had barely spoonful of veg in it. The pilau rice was cold and bland, and the veg samosa were tiny and full of air. It was very overpriced for the small portions that I was given.

I haven't met a nicer restaurant owner, impeccable service, and the most delicious Indian food you could ask for, very accommodating as we got there five minutes before they were meant to close, and they still made a banquet for me and my partner. Would HIGHLEY RECOMMEND to anyone.

The place was spotless, service professional friendly and polite, but the food was simply amazing, from the starter to the main it was fresh hot and full of flavour, the portion was great and price was spot on for what we expected to pay, definitely our new go to place.

Poor food to start with but they dealt with it reasonably and brought out food that was acceptable. By no means 4.5 star quality

Poor food and really bad service: when we ordered drinks (a company of 5) only 4 were brought and the 5th drink didn't come even in 10min time! Before being ushered to the table we had to wait for 20min for the table to be cleaned after previous guests. The waiter who served us tried to engage us into a political conversation - the staff should know which subjects are not appropriate to discuss.

Collected a meal to take away everything was lovely. We had mixed grill starters, chicken Tikka Masala was spot on best I've had for a while. Definitely recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already.

Slow service considering we were at one point the only table, seemed like the waiter was either overwhelmed or just disorganised. Had to wait a long time for the order then between the courses and again for the bill to be delivered. The food was average, nothing special.

Was looking forward to the meal due to the reviews but the meal was not up to expectation. I feel this is a very westernised Indian place as if you check the names of the people who have left the positive reviews, you can tell that they might not have experienced proper Indian food. I ordered Nawaabi Murgi as it was in the chef's speciality section, and it would've been great if I was a child or had the palate of one. My partner ordered the chicken karahi and the sauce was very watery and therefore not as flavoursome as it could've been. Having calculated the price of the food before ordering, the delivery charge was £3.7 which I think is a bit steep. Not sure if it's because the order was just under £20 (Total cost was £18.90) but either way, there was no mention of the delivery cost being as much if a certain amount was not met. Overall, I would rate the meal two stars as they gave an additional poppadom and the delivery was on time. I would give this place a swerve if you are looking for a good Indian, and only recommend it if you're used to eating chicken nuggets and/or you have a child.

Absolutely lovely I've never been here before as I've heard mixed things about it I've tried pretty much every Indian that will deliver to my house and this has far been the best the chicken was lovely and tender and the stuffed mushrooms are absolutely to die for will definitely order again it was delivered on time and was hot very impressed

Lovely restaurant with great food both eat-in and takeaway. The staff are really friendly and engaging. Collected a takeaway earlier to arrive home and realise they'd forgotten to put the chutneys in. I rang them and they said they would send some over. Literally 5 mins later they arrived at my door. How's that for service! Highly recommended.

Very nice takeaway menu, and on time.

Happy with flavour and service received but was really shocked when the bill came out at £64 for two of us. We had one soft drink each, curry, side, starter, 2 poppadoms and bread. Decent enough curry, clean and tidy place and friendly service but for this price i'd expect the meal to absolutely blow my mind and be in a fairly fancy setting. Two poppadoms and sauces came out at something like 4.50 🤯
