This cafe is now under new management, the new owners have created a superb cafe. This is the second time We have had breakfast here in a Sunday morning and it is absolutely wonderful. Really nicely cooked and the thick bread served with it is very nice. Reasonably priced as well. We will definitely be back.

The cafe was dirty with food all over the floor and I had to clean a chair before it could be used. We were there for an hour and a half and not one table was cleared in that time, dirty pots were just left on the the tables. Teacups were delivered which were still wet. The food was okay but, despite pre-booking, we waited 5 minutes and we did not get everything that is advertised on the website as part of our afternoon tea choices. The table wasn't ready when we arrived and then when we did sit down we had to keep getting up and down to let other people through. The card machine wasn't working, but this wasn't explained when we arrived, we were only told when we went to pay. The staff did make sure we had enough to eat and drink.

Me and my boyfriend called for breakfast whilst passing today. It was one of the best full English breakfasts we’ve had in a long time! We will definitely be returning soon and would recommend to anyone

My friend and I came on Friday 1st of June for afternoon tea that we had booked the week before and received a booking confirmation for. Our booking hadn't been written down so the staff didn't know we were booked in. We were asked to go and wait outside even though there were tables free and a few minutes later a lady came outside and told us that if we waited another 20 minutes then she could get something together. We were unable to do this due to me having a medical appointment later on and when we explained this she said 'ok' and walked away.A review was posted on their facebook page and the owner replied saying that the cafe was busy and they offered us drinks whilst we waited. In fact the cafe only had one occupied table and we were offered nothing. The fact that Mrs Potts has decided to lie about what happened has made me lose faith in their business and I would never return now. They offered us 20% off in this reply to us but I am not willing to return after they have lied about the situation in order to save face.I understand that sometimes mistakes happen but I'm really unhappy with how the situation was handled and the lack of customer service that I have received. We weren't given a proper apology, weren't even offered a drink and then they lied in response to us and eventually turned off their facebook reviews so nobody can see the negative ones.I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

The pub is in a lovely spot, and has had a beautiful refurbishment, unfortunately that’s where the good points end. The food is shocking. Served on chipped plates for a start with an abysmal side of wilting and browning ‘salad’ - literal leaves, and undercooked chips with zero seasoning, Not even offered any salt. Asked for sauces and was supplied literally two tables spoons of ketchup between 2 people. I regret not taking a photo to share, but how anyone could serve that and think it was acceptable was beyond me. If you want to have a lovely meal at a pub with a great atmosphere, stick to The Oxford! I definitely will be in future.

10.10.24. Arrived for lunch. Starter was great and presented well ( see pic ) . Service : appalling. Cutlery for the main course was dumped on the table ( both sets dumped down together while the server walked off ) . Ordered a drink and had to wait 5 mins whilst staff were stood laughing and joking behind the bar ( the pub wasn't busy ) . Main course: i ordered gammon . The pineapple looked as if it had been been deep fried and was swimming in oil, the mushroom was under the gammon and looked disgusting . No one came over and asked how was our meal; if that had happened , I would have showed them my meal. Overall : terrible and never again . I've been coming to the Whitchaff for over 45 years and this was the worst meal I had ever had .
