Mrs M's Secret Tearoom in East Riding of Yorkshire

I was not looking forward to my lockdown birthday so you can imagine how excited I was to receive an Afternoon Tea from my daughter. The platter was brought to my door by Mrs M herself. It was beautifully presented and even had a Happy Birthday sticker on it. The food was delicious, I can honestly say that every mouthful was sublime. Highly recommended! It really made me feel special.

Discovered this place during the first covid 19 lock down and have now ordrered for several occasions as takeaway for family occasions and has always been fantastic food and service. No 1 for gluten free, I have searched and.searched for years and never found such amazing gluten free options. sue is so freindly and accommodating. We will now be frequent visitors and cannot wait until lockdown is over and we can have the full experience of the tea room.

Had an afternoon tea delivered to us today and it was amazing,the only downside was it was so nice our 5 year old loved it so next time will get her own one!!

We have just enjoyed the most delicious, fresh platters, a surprise from my nephew for his gran’s 83rd birthday. The food and presentation, and delivery, have made what could have been a dull lockdown day very special. A mention must be included about the gluten free food. I’m coeliac and it was so lovely to eat quality food that was almost identical to the “normal” food. I am already planning our next order. Thank you Mrs M!

I ordered afternoon tea for my partners Birthday, the food quality was excellent, all homemade and really tasty, highly recommend.

Telephoned to book and collect an afternoon tea for 2 for the 16/01/21. Communication was excellent! On the day, we received a message to say the afternoon tea was ready for collection and on arrival, all was Covid secure. There was a very nice selection of sandwiches with generous fillings and with white and brown bread, savoury and sweet pastries, cakes and scones. The food was delicious! The sandwich course left enough room for the savoury pastries and then after a rest, room for the scones and deserts section. Highly recommend Mrs. M’s Secret Tearoom and will easily find an excuse to book again very soon. Raymond

Decided to treat my elderly mum and dad to a Christmas high tea that they Decided to save fir Christmas day ,even after 2 days the platter was still so fresh with homemade sandwiches, fancies and pastries.Mum and dad loved it so thank you for making their Christmas

What a wonderful Festive Afternoon Tea delivered by Sue of Mrs M's Secret Tearoom! I cannot recommend this highly enough. Everything was perfect, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious too.We wanted to arrange something special for my 86 year old mum who has had such an awful year (like so many of us) and this was a real treat. Sue brought the afternoon tea to mums house for me, timing it perfectly too. Mum said her eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw the spread laid out !The sandwiches were tasty and the feta with pea quiches were delicious. The scenes were divine. I loved the roulade with kirsch and truffles. The mince pies seemed to melt in your mouth....mmmIf you want a top quality Afternoon Tea, this is just amazing!Thank you so much Sue.

We ordered this to have as our mini wake to celebrate my Nana's life and could not fault it. It was lovely, everything was fresh and moist and lovingly baked. It was also delivered into hull and promptly for when we got back from the funeral. It felt like a hug, thank you!

Afternoon tea festive with a twist... wanted a slight change for my hubby’s birthday... no problem Sue said and amazingly delivered on her promise. As ever the afternoon tea was scrumptious and was throughly enjoyed. My husband could eat a cake made of those home made truffles. Well done mrs m .. Sue for doing this service and lifting our spirits.

We ordered a takeaway festive afternoon tea, as we’re currently tier 3 lockdown, so no dining in. The ordering process was very smooth and Mrs M very pleasant to deal with. The food was absolutely superb, every item was simply delicious and such festive flavours. There was a good mix of sandwiches (prawn mayo, egg mayo, turkey stuffing and cranberry and cheese with Xmas chutney), savoury pastries (pea and feta tart, sausage rolls, Parma ham twists) and sweet treats (scones, clementine cake, kirsch choc Swiss roll, shortbread, brandy mince pies and a chocolate truffle). Mrs M is a superb baker and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her festive afternoon tea box - a true Christmassy treat!

Had 3 members of family visiting for afternoon tea so chose sue to save me the hassle . It was just perfect. Husband is coeliac and he had his own packaged separately. We all had a selection of ‘fresh’ sandwiches, sausage roll and feta and pea tart, beautiful. Followed by 3 cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam. So much to eat for £15. All delivered promptly and with a smile. This really added to my ‘big’ birthday celebrations as well as the sun shone all afternoon. Highly recommend and can’t wait to visit Mrs M secret tea garden in person one day. Thanks Sue :))))

Wow. Mrs M (or rather Sue) truly delivered in more ways than one on this one. Scrumptious trays of delights both savoury and sweet tailored to our palates as husband prefers savoury. With a requested boozy fruit cake to celebrate our anniversary. We will have a piece of this later washed down with some gifted alcohol. Thank you so much. We know where to come for our celebrations!

Covid-19 means it's a take away only business just now but it does deliver a quality afternoon tea ! Really enjoyed it it was a tral treat. Quality food. Only reason it is not 5 star is that the combo was a bit too sweet biased for me- my personal taste.

Wow! What can I say..... The food was outstanding... Although it was takeaway service due to the current situation, Sue was so welcoming when I picked dup my afternoon tea. Everything was homemade, soft, fluffy and delicious.I cannot wait for lockdown to be over and I will now be a regular visitor to Mrs M's.Would highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

The afternoon tea was delivered to our home promptly and was simply delicious. Great variety of sandwiches, cakes etc prepared to high standard indeed. In spite of everything it lifted our spirits and was extremely good value!

We had afternoon tea for 3 at home delivered by Mrs M's Secret Tea Room. It was delicious.After placing my order over email I was kept updated with when it would be delivered. When it arrived it was beautifully presented.The sandwiches were tasty, the sausage rolls, cheese and onion tart and scones all lovely and light (forgot to take photos of those as we dived in).The pastries were again all delicious and all different.We thoroughly enjoyed it and are looking forward to when we can go to the tea room.Would definitely recommend.

We were gifted afternoon tea by a friend. Great service, drinks and of course food! The cheese tart and scones were standouts for me and will return. Be aware that you have to book here in advance and opens only a couple of times a month but well worth it. Great food and a friendly place to be!

Had afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. Sue and Karen were so friendly and created a relaxed homely atmosphere. The food was excellent and we enjoyed every monthly. Highly recommend.

A group of 8 work friends enjoyed afternoon tea here to celebrate an early retirement. This was my 3rd visit and most of us had been before. Everything about Sue’s afternoon is wonderful; the personal greeting, the friendly waitresses and the food ... amazing, delicious and hard to beat. Beautifully presented, all home made and delicious. We had a vegan and a gluten free amongst us and they loved their versions too. Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended.

This was my third visit to Mrs M’s, the food and service was as good as before. Her scones and meringues are to die for. We were not rushed and Sue kept checking to see if we needed any more tea or coffee. A great place to relax. Would highly recommend.

Just spent a wonderful three hours enjoying the most delicious afternoon tea we have ever experienced.

We had a perfect afternoon nothing was rushed you felt like one of the family.The sandwich were plentiful with a variety of fillings and the cake were decadent and super scrummy.The savoury tart and scones were to die for .What a gem of a find we will be returning.

I visited the tearoom with friends. We had a wonderful afternoon tea and the service was superb. We are already planning our return visit. I would recommend.

Afternoon tea at a leisurely pace in nice setting. The tea room is not opened routinely and so you have to pick a day when tea will be served and I believe that the next available dates are a couple of months away. But, it is worth the wait. You can treat yourself, or others through gift vouchers, to a relaxed and laid back event. Food was varied and excellent - fresh baked tarts, scones etc.. well worth a visit.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with Sue and her team. As always we had a wonderful time, good food and very attentive staff, including the in house photographer who’s very handy with a cameraphone.

I have visited this wonderful tea room on two separate occasions now. Once with my mother and once with my wife. On both occasions I have requested a vegan option. The sandwiches and cakes which have been made specifically for me have been absolutely devine. The attention to detail and to flavour has made this the best afternoon tea I have ever eaten. Book a table and see for yourself. We will definitely be returning.

A relaxing and very enjoyable afternoon. Freshly prepared food and lovely surroundings. Friendly and attentive staff, replacing refreshments regularly and explaining what food was being served. Three hours later, we were welcome to walk in the large garden to finish the afternoon. You need to secure a booking in advance with a deposit and I can honestly say it is great value and will definitely be returning

I brought my mum as a treat for her birthday. It was a very friendly atmosphere. Mrs M and the ladies were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. I would highly recommend. I will be coming again.

This hidden gem serves the most fantastic fare,wonderful sandwiches,scones and so much more. Sue and her amazing attentive staff Karen and Poppy make you so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.Everything is homemade except the bread and is served to your table straight from the oven...heaven on a plate.

Me and my mum visited Mrs Ms for the first time today. The atmosphere is lovely and homely, the ladies are so welcoming and can not do enough for you. The afternoon tea was like no other. It is fully home made and gradually brought to you over a 3 hours,there is unlimited tea, coffee and speciality cordials. The tartlett and scones where still warm and the plain scone is literally the best scone I have ever tasted. The food actually tastes as if it is made with Love. Would highly recommend, Thank you Mrs Ms x

Took the wife for our anniversary. Not an afternoon tea fan myself but the wife loves them. Service was impeccable and very friendly. Lovely food and huge selection of drinks. Couldn't fault it really. Lovely place.

My sister and I spent a very uplifting three hours today at Mrs M's. It was a very nice atmosphere - full of happy people, like ourselves, enjoying a wonderful unhurried afternoon tea. The food was sublime and Sue and Karen looked after everyone in a professional but very friendly way and it was a joy from start to finish. We didn't want to leave. We will certainly return and would recommend Mrs M's without any hesitation. A lot of thought has obviously gone into every aspect of this delightful and very different tea room experience. Booked for a New Year's afternoon tea treat and had a lovely afternoon relaxing at Mrs M's. The welcome and service is exceptional and each 'course' served with fresh hot/cold drinks. The food was home made and very tasty, love the new menu.

Having only recently discovered this place and only visited once before we were greeted like old friends at the door and shown to our table. After a short catch up and a non-alcoholic mulled wine we settled in with a nice pot of tea.

Having just visited Mrs M’s for a friend’s birthday all I can say is wow!! From being greeted at the door to leaving, the whole experience was wonderful. The experience is definitely one to be repeated. The food was superb along with the endless supply of tea and coffee. Mrs M your toffee meringues were out of this world!!

I visited this tea room with my wife. It was a surprise for her birthday. From walking in to Sue's home we where made welcome and felt relaxed. The food and drinks where of a very high standard. The service was first class, Karen was very friendly. My wife really enjoyed the afternoon. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tea room.

Me, my two sisters and my mum came into the tea room for my sisters baby shower, the staff were all lovely and their smiles and friendliness lit up the room! The presentation was beautiful, the food was FANTASTIC and the garden was absolutely beautiful, I loved the fact that everything had such a cosy and homely feel, everything had a little personal touch and the yurt in the back of the garden absolutely topped off the whole experience, I would definitely reccommend and I hope to return very soon in the future! thank you so much for a beautiful evening!

I have had a very lovely afternoon tea here with 14 special people. The service and attention to detail was 2nd to none. After attending several afternoon teas at many venues Mr's M's gets our vote as the best yet. I was particularly impressed at the thought that had gone into my requirements as a vegetarian. A fantastic afternoon in a special location. A real family feel to the location. The food was hand made to a high quality and served in a beautiful setting. A special afternoon, with special people.

I've taken afternoon tea around the world. Raffles in Singapore, Reid's Palace in Madeira, the Prince of Wales Hotel at Niagara on the Lake and many other places and this little gem is as good as any of them.

What a fab afternoon we've had lovely setting and lovely staff. Food was wonderful and plentiful. Would recommend trying here.

We arrived and they were fully booked (we hadn’t realised booking was required) and yet it was a sunny day and Sue invited us to sit in the lovely garden.

Loved every minute of our time there. Warm and very friendly service. Food was exactly what I expected and was wonderful quality. There is something about warm scones that does it for me every time. Tea, coffee, cordials, where unlimited. We even had another pot of tea when we had finished.

Have just visited this little corner of heaven this afternoon to celebrate a close friend’s Birthday and we had the most lovely afternoon. The food was perfection lots of variation and absolutely delicious, the service was exemplary and so friendly, such a relaxing friendly atmosphere. Had a lovely time here for a Hen do, couldn’t recommend more! Staff were so friendly even though short staffed, food was amazing and they were so accommodating to a party member who had multiple allergies. Wouldn’t hesitate in returning in the future.

Mrs M's Secret Tearoom is a little gem of a place, situated in part of a private house near Hull. You need to book, as the owner only opens on a couple of times a week, that's how exclusive it is.

I booked this for a friend's birthday as a special treat after seeing the good reviews from people. We certainly weren't disappointed. We got the best seats in the house looking out into the back garden. We were served by the lovely Karen who came and explained how everything would work, provided us with unlimited drinks (tea, coffee, various juices etc) and served our food throughout the afternoon. All of the food was absolutely delicious and everything was a nice small size so you didn't feel like you'd over eaten. The little cheese and onion tarts were lovely and the scones (both sweet and savoury) were delicious. The best profiteroles I've ever eaten plus a really zingy lemon possett. There was no rush and you could just sit and chat in between courses. At the end Karen came and spoke to us and asked us if we'd enjoyed it and also Sue (the chef and owner) came and had a chat with us. It was all very friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be going back in the future. Thanks Sue and Karen.

Had a lovely afternoon celebrating a friends birthday. Beautiful room ,surroundings and views. As much tea and coffee as we wanted and 3 courses including sandwiches scones and cake. Very relaxing and no rushing between courses. Best afternoon tea I've had and all home made. Delicious ! Sue was an excellent host ,very welcoming and friendly. We finished off in the garden and a look in the Yurt. Stunning! Afternoon tea isn't really my thing but I cant wait to go back. Hopefully sooner rather than later !

Have wanted to try afternoon tea here for some time after seeing great reviews. Booked a last minute festive afternoon tea for three and what a treat! The food is served in three 'courses', all beautifully presented and freshly baked with plenty of tea/coffee and refills as required. Just delicious. The service was excellent, polite, friendly and super courteous. The only slight room for improvement and it is hard to find anything negative to say would be to have slightly less strong tea. However a good selection of loose leaf teas.

Wow, what a lovely hidden gem this is. My mum booked us in yesterday as a birthday treat. Set back off the main road, it’s a house, Mrs M’s home and she welcomes you with open arms, the sign reads, “arrive as guests, leave as friends “ and we did just that. Set out in the dining/sitting room of the gorgeous house, it’s relaxed and homely, pre bookings only and only available on certain days of the year.

A gorgeous afternoon with my wife, sister-in-law and son. Three of us follow a vegan diet and Mrs M pulled out all the stops to make sure our dietary needs were met. The vegan savoury scones and cakes were the best we have tried. Service was excellent and we look forward to our next visit.

This was a birthday gift from a friend for my daughter. At first we were a confused, the invite was for afternoon tea in somebodies home. To visit the home of someone you don't know and spend the afternoon there isn't something i would choose to do but I'm so glad we did.

We visited today as a group of 4 as a surprise for a relatives birthday and was very impressed. From booking to arriving today it was perfect. The food was amazing, and each course was full of home cooked items. Would highly recommend and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Thanks Sue - we really enjoyed ourselves.

First visit a friend took me for lunch club on this occasion I treat a friend to afternoon tea. Without a doubt the best I have ever tasted everything is perfect, service, atmosphere but of course most importantly the food, made with love and you can taste it in every single mouthful, yummy x cannot wait to return x

This was our second visit to Mrs M's and once again we throughly enjoyed it. Delicious homemade food. Being gluten free is always abit tricky when eating out but Sue always prepares some scrummy treats for me, cakes, pastries,sandwiches, the meringue has to be my favourite though, Sue gets it perfect. There's more tea then you can manage and I think it's good value for what you get. Thanks again Sue, I will be dreaming about out next visit x

We visited on 22july to celebrate a friends 60th birthday.We all enjoyed the experience very much from the minute we arrived.It felt really special and sue was attentive and friendly .The food was all excellent and the view of the garden was lovely.Thank you very much.

You will receive a warm, welcome and friendly greeting from the moment you arrive. Where high class Afternoon tea within a private setting is served providing beautiful delicious food from Sue and the team. It was my daughters 21st birthday and Sue provided that extra special touch which was a lovely surprise to us all. Thank you for a fantastic afternoon.

I was disappointed with the whole experience at Mrs M's. The food was lovely but several things let it down. One was the service. Sue did explain her normal helper was ill, so she had got someone else in. Although we wanted a relaxing afternoon, for a lot of it we had no drinks. We had to ask on several occasions for more tea, coffee and water. The staff didn't seem to check on us. The second thing that let it down was that we appeared to be squashed in the room. Although it says you leave as friends, I at least wanted to be able to talk to my friends I had gone with but it was nearly impossible. Whether they have tried to get more people in because it is getting popular. it was just so uncomfortable. To get out of my chair I had to ask the man behind me to move so I could move my chair. We were all far too close together and squashed in. There was also a large group making excessive noise and some other customers asked them to keep the noise down, as they couldn't hear each other talk. The price had also changed since we booked and we were charged the higher price, not the advertised price we booked at. I could have queried it but at that point I just wanted to leave. No-one asked us whether we were happy or whether we had enjoyed it. Just not for me.

I booked Mrs M's for my 'hen party' as it looked like it would be perfect for a nice afternoon girlie celebration, it didn't dissapoint! Had an absolutely fabulous time and all the girls thoroughly enjoyed and where glad to be doing something different. Sue was the perfect hostess and its clear to see she takes so much pride in her delicious food. To sum it up the delights she served where dainty, very tasty and beautifully presented and plentiful. 3 fabulous courses of utter delight! The table was set out lovely and Sue had added that extra touch by putting some heart shaped confetti on the table to mark the occasion, something she didn't have to do so it made us feel special that she had gone that extra mile.

What a lovely venue, great service and attention to detail, the food is sooo tasty, all home made and you can tell! My friend booked this and I thought I was going for an afternoon tea but it turned out it was lunch club , what a pleasant surprise x Soup was the best I have ever tasted and the Quiche was delightful, profiteroles where scrummy, absolutely divine xx Will be coming back to sample the afternoon tea xx
