Copperfields Cafe and Diner in East Riding of Yorkshire

Our first visit today after booking well in advance. We both had the steak pie with peas my husband had his with chips I had mashed potatoes which were lovely. Husband had choc fudge cake while I had absolutely delicious ginger sponge and custard. Really good fresh home cooked food at a very fair price. John and Karen are both very friendly and welcoming. Our first visit but already booked to return next month. Thank you both.

Excellent first visit for lunch this week whilst we were Caravanning nearby. Loads of choice on the menu for a very tasty home cooked two course lunch at a very affordable price. Booking is essential and please note they only take CASH payment. Highly recommended cafe with very friendly obliging owners who aim to please. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Went with my sister and brother in law who rave about this place and go often. They had to book in advance. I believe there is no availability for the next two christmases. I am not surprised. The place is dated but very homely. The owners are very polite and accommodating. Jonathan has a very good sense of humour. For less than £10 you get two courses. The food is all home cooked and very nice. Portion sizes are more than plenty. Food quality is excellent. The place is very clean and tidy. The menu selection is plentiful and will satisfy all palates. A great experience where 5 people were fed and watered for £55.

It needs to be made abundantly clear this is BOOK ONLY and CASH ONLY location. We didn't know this so when we walked in we were 'greeted' by the male asking if we had a booking, when we said no. He turned more curt and said, "If you don't book in advance, you won't get in, don't you know" No we didn't know this, we don't live here, we are tourists looking to sample the delights of this well reviewed eatery. Instead we met arrogance I believe.

Fantastic food unbelievable prices and the owners are both brilliant hosts. And you are guaranteed a laugh before, during or after meal.

Jonathan & Karen are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a wonderful lunch, good helpings, excellent quality and value for money. Dog friendly. We have visited several times and found the service and quality to be consistent. We will certainly be returning.

Our first visit but won,t be the last .We booked for Sunday lunch with our Maltese and what a joy not sure where to start, the atmosphere was friendly felt like a family member ,the food was amazing never tasted roast beef as tender and the pork was the same the whole meal was so tasty from the first mouthful to the last .Everything about this cafe is top notch what a great find ,well done Karen & Jonathon for making our Sunday lunch a great experience.

We had our first visit to Copperfields for Sunday lunch with our maltse dog last Sunday and all I can say is what a fantastic experience .The food is fresh ,plentiful and delicious it,s the BEST Sunday lunch we have ever had.The service from Jonathon was excellent he made us feel like one of the family .We have booked again for another brilliant dining experience .Well done Copperfields.

We were holidaying nearby when we came across Copperfield's. We had not booked but luckily got a table. We were welcomed by the owners. This is a small very pleasant café frequently used by local people. I would recommend you book a table so not to be disappointed. We had a pot of tea which was topped up regularly. My husband & I both had the Steak pie, it was delicious, we also then had a dessert Also very nice. All were homecooked. We were shocked when the bill arrived £18 for the best meal we had since arriving in the area. It was so good. We ate here again 2 days later. I would recommend a walk around Flamborough head after your meal. Thanks to the owners for the wonderful welcome. We have been returning here every time we visit the area, the meals are excellent. The welcome off Jonathan and Karen are always warm and friendly. They go of their way to make our 4yr old Grandson feel special. The value of the food is excellent. I would advise people to book in advance.

Excellent Sunday Lunch, what a gem of a Restaurant. Never fails to satisfy. Proper home cooked food and no pinging of a Microwave

Visited for Sunday dinner after reading reviews online and we were not disappointed! There was Lamb on the menu today, and it was absolutely melt in the mouth! This is a proper roast dinner; cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes that are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, mash that is beautifully creamy and extra gravy (alongside veg and condiments). Service is fast and super friendly! For a little cafe/diner it does get busy so book ahead! Also this place is cash only (cash is king) so be aware before visiting. Soup starter is free with the roast dinner, and there is a good selection of sweets. I will be visiting again and I highly recommend this place :)

Been waiting to go a while was Tuesday lunch time, lovely couple running it I had haddock mornay hubby had scampi all home cooked, delicious . Couldn’t do enough for us, price includes dessert we don’t eat them normally but the host insisted we take some home for supper , they also had great 60/70s music playing. Really friendly cafe. Proper home cooked food. Huge portions. Fabulous huge yorkshire puddings. The mashed potato was spot on really tasty. A selection of great veg including Cauliflower cheese and brocolli which was so tasty. Cant fault it. At only £9.95 including free starter soup portion. Cant think of anywhere better at the east coast for my Sunday roast

Deliciously fresh cooked food. Best bread and butter pudding ever! Staff are most accommodating, nothing is a trouble to them. Oh and the music in the background is brilliant. 100% reccommend this friendly family run cafe.

What can I say but wow wow wow. Everything was perfect in my eyes. No wonder you have to really book to get in. We were treated like old friends even though first visit. We genuinely hope we can get again even though we live miles away.

We visited here on a Saturday lunchtime with friends who had been before and spoke highly of the food and the service. We were not disappointed. I had the cheese and onion flan with chips and salad and my wife had the steak pie . Both where home made and tasty . Large portions and great chips . We had the excellent trifle to follow . A great idea is that you get main and pudding for one price . If you can’t manage the pudding then the host will box it for you . Plentiful strong tea was the perfect accompaniment. The cafe was full and everyone seemed very happy . The couple who run the restaurant are friendly efficient and super organised ! This is an amazing place . Book well ahead . Oh yes … cash only .

REVIEW OF COPPERFIELDS DINER , FLAMBOROUGH I arrived @ Flamborough on Thursday 1st February staying just over a week .Getting there just before lunch fish & chips was going to be an easy eat – only to find they only open for the weekend [low season] . Wandering round I came across this gem of a place . I was about to sit @ a vacant table in the rear [front all full] when I was politely stopped by the owner who had to consult his bookings .The place is so popular its mostly all pre-booked EVERY day.[note open daily 12.30-15.00 only – longer on Sunday] I got a seat and looked at the weekday two-course menu .The daily special - home-made chicken,ham @ leek pie was recommended – which I had with mash and veg – very tasty . Followed by home-made rhubarb crumble & custard [massive portion]. Whilst there I perused the separate Sunday lunch menu for consideration – only to be told the coming Sunday was fully booked .[ Fortunately for me a cancellation came in whilst I was eating which I snapped up .] So my second visit was on Sunday . There's a different menu [choices] . If you want the soup of the day its FOC otherwise there's a couple of others . I opted for the soup which was home-made Indian vegetable . Never had it before but it was very enjoyable . My main course [there are others incl a changing “special” ] was the traditional roast beef & all the trimmings which I can only rate as 10/10 . There is a separate optional dessert menu which changes daily. I went for the newly-added lemon meringue with fresh cream. I was determined to get a third visit in and just managed it . This time I chose the steak pie [again home-made] with chips & peas followed by chocolate fudge cake & ice cream. Both massive plate-fulls. I did notice quite a few other tables having minted lamb curry [with rice and chips] and its one I will try on my next visit. All my visits were greeted with a smile and a “what ever you want “ service by the man & wife owners. All the menu items were reasonable prices and decent portions . I later learnt that most of the items on the menu [mains and desserts] are home-made. All too soon my holiday break was over but I at least got three visits in . I'm booked again in September when this place will be top of my list

Well another lovely lunch today beautiful home made food and very friendly staff /owners ,they can’t do enough for you and we have already booked to go back with friends can’t fault it in any way .

I chose my favourite place, Copperfields, for my birthday lunch with friends. It was splendid, as usual. Good, home made, tasty food, brilliant service and the usual delightful, friendly ambience. I've told Karen and Jonathan that I feel they've created an oasis in the desert of modern life. A big thank you to them both for making us so welcome . We all had a great time. We'll be back again soon!.

Well the excellent reviews are not wrong! We were told about it by some friends of ours and they were not wrong. Best meal we have had since we can remember. Last minute and managed to squeeze us in as only 2 of us. So happy that they did. We had soup delicious and complimentary too😋 then we had x2 meats roast beef and pork with Yorkshire pudding fresh vegetables and oozing gravy.. oh and the roasts too. Found this place on trip advisor, looked at the pictures and reviews and decided to give it a try. Well let me tell you none of the pictures do this place any justice, it’s far better. Everything is homemade and I mean everything, myself and my son had the roast beef dinner and my wife had the steak pie, all served with mashed potato and vegetables and proper meat juice gravy, then for pudding I had jam sponge, my wife had ginger sponge and my son had chocolate fudge cake, all homemade and served with either custard, ice cream or cream. We also had three soft drinks and the bill was £32.95. Don’t hesitate in going, if you’re in the area just go but book first. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent value.

Whenever we come to Yorkshire we always try and book lunch at Copperfields. The roast beef with GF Yorkshire pudding was absolutely delicious as are their chips and the choice of desserts. The owners are kind and welcoming and go out of their way to accommodate you. Already looking forward to our next visit later in the year.

What can i say an amazing Sunday lunch. Free home made soup and a roll, tender meat lots of it, fresh cooked veg so tasty, home made gravy in a jug, perfect yorkie and roasties. It says home made and it was. We could only share a pudding baileys triffle just beautiful a traditional triffle. The staff were so attentive, the cafe was very busy lots of repeat bookings being made. You have to book well in advance but well worth the effort. Three courses two drinks for £24 bargain.

I'd recommend booking as very busy but pleased they managed to fit us in. Very friendly staff, lovely home cooked food & generous portions at a more than reasonable price. We'd definitely be regulars if we lived in the area!

The most scrumptious Sunday dinner I've had in a long time. Free home made soup to start with and you could tell from that first mouthful that you were in for a treat. The generous portion of lamb was so tender, the mash sublime. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and overall a lovely place. Obviously popular, so you may need to book but we were very lucky that they had a cancellation. Would definitely recommend!
