Bit dingy lighting, given that the cafe is deep back to front. The teacake was delicious but only scantily buttered and not around the edges, so ask for extra butter. A serviette would have been nice. Taylor decaf tea was extra weak, ask for an extra tea bag to get a bit of taste

We went to give cafe Velo a try as we were wanting a decent cafe to sit and chill while having lunch, plus have a nice friendly atmosphere feel. It was the right choice, as we were made to feel very welcome and felt relaxed, Cafe Velo is under new management also, so good to see setting a high standard straight away. We were welcomed when we arrived and given time to look at the menu to decide on what we wanted, which was great as I do not like to be pestered when looking at the menu. The Coffee was great and the food fantastic, it is what I would call proper food, very tasty and filling, we managed to squeeze some cake in also, great choices overall on the menu. We will be visiting regular when in town and will recommend to family and friends.

Sorry Cafe Velo. I say sorry because we are regular customers. The last visit on a Saturday morning just before lunch we thought the Cafe Gloomy and quiet. The full English was ok but not exceptional. The service was ok but normally there's a nice vibe even if your not a cyclist. On a previous visit we commented on the table being sticky. We were informed it was the type of varnish on the table. on this occasion the tables are still sticky. not nice and needs addressing.

Organise regular weekly rides for a group of enthusiastic cyclists and always book our stops in advance. Imagine my embarrassment when took group of 12 there yesterday only to find it all locked up and dark. Eventually told there was a "family emergency" and that they had tried to call but no call was registered on my phone. Really poor and does not deserve to be supported with this kind of attitude to customers. Shame.

Having read fantastic reviews, I was hoping to treat my guests to a good experience. Oh dear. We walked through the door at 1pm on Sunday, thinking it would be buzzing. The place was empty, apart from a solitary man sitting in the window. It was dark, unwelcoming, and smelt of stale fat. The two young girls behind the counter gave no welcome, in fact looked extremely uncomfortable and didn't really know what to do with us. We made a polite attempt at looking at the menu, and beat a hasty retreat. We had a fantastic meal in a Saturday Market Deli, which was absolutely on top of the game.

I decided to stop here during the return leg of my Christmas bike ride from Brough to Driffield. As a cyclist I love nothing more than a nice coffee and a light bite to help me refuel on a 62 mile ride, (in winter no less) so I was more than happy to see that this cafe has bike storage and a friendly atmosphere to make you feel at home whilst kitted up. The range of food is what you would expect from a cafe, but the portions are nicely sized and the coffee is decent. The staff are also friendly and even gave me some napkins and water to help me wipe the dirt off my bike. There is also plenty of cycling decor for you to gaze at and even a TV downstairs to watch your favourite cyclocross or grand tour races. The only thing I would suggest is having a cloth and some bike cleaner on hand to let people clean their bikes with whilst their waiting for their food to digest if it's a damp day outside. All in all a great place to check your Strava and the carbs they sold me certainly got me back to Brough! Will definatly be coming back next time I'm cycling in the area.

I came here with my husband for a quick bite to eat whilst exploring Beverley and the market last week, and both ended up having an absolutely delicious all day breakfast, the sausages were amazing and the chef is clearly an expert in perfectly poaching eggs ( something not easily found!) It’s a cycling themed cafe but don’t let that put you off, the staff are very welcoming and our waitress Olivia? (Sorry!) was very helpful in not only helping us choose which delicious cake to eat after but also on the history of the town and best places to visit and sights to see! We’ll definitely be back next time we go to Beverley, it was a wonderful experience and the food was fantastic!

During these tough and trying times many people are desperate to eat out safely and securely. Upon arrival we were guided to both a sign in sheet and a test and trace app symbol which was nice to see. Safe practices are the biggest worry at the moment and cafe velo are following them religiously to ensure the safety of their consumers. Our welcome was friendly upon arrival and we conversed pleasantly with the owner regarding the food and drink and how the cafe had changed to table service to ensure safety of consumers and staff. Rob the owner, single handily worked the floor to reduce the amount of interaction amongst people which was really encouraging for the customers in the restaurant. Meanwhile he had a separate member of staff work the drinks and dessert counter and a chef work the kitchen. Reducing the levels of staff interaction in hospitality during these times is tough currently but the cafe ensured it was more than adequate and up to par to ensure the safety off all people in the cafe. Very professional and organised. On to the food and drinks. We took our time ordering drinks as we rarely eat out for breakfast but we opted for a pot of English breakfast tea (very reasonably priced and delicious) for my partner and a mocha for myself which was made to perfection. They arrived promptly which was fantastic. As for our meals my partner opted for the nachos as she craved something light as we had a long day ahead of us. The nachos were nicely toasted and the toppings were evenly spread And delicious. She ate every last part minus the jalapeños as she isn’t a fan of spice but was happy to pick them off with zero complaints. As for myself, I went for the eggs royale. I’d heard good news about their ability to poach eggs and make a decent hollandaise which is something I hold dearly to my heart as a chef myself. Zero faults with it. The eggs, poached beautifully, the hollandaise, spot on and not overworked (very delicate but full of flavour) exactly what I wanted. The muffins were toasted just to the level I prefer, not too much, not too little. The smoked salmon cut through the dish with the saltiness I desired and pleased my pallet pleasantly. I also added extra black pudding on my eggs royale as the Scottish in me couldn’t resist. Smoked salmon and black pudding? How could I say no to that. The black pudding was fried to perfection, people say that it’s easy to do so but black pudding can so easily be over/under cooked. 1.5 minutes on a high heat suits me just right, crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. This is what the chef produced for me. Presentation was immense and the portion sizes were generous for the prices advertised. Desserts were well priced and all made in house as well, lemon drizzle was amazing with just a drop of pouring cream. Fluffy and yet somehow dense and filling. Same for the millionaire shortbread! Overall, service-friendly and knowledgeable. Food-fantastic and well executed. Experience? 10 out of 10. If you’re looking for somewhere new to eat your breakfast regardless of your preference to cycling or not then this is the go to place. You won’t be disappointed.

Beverley is full of cafes and among the stiff competition, this is one of the better ones. It has a cycling theme so if you do like cycling definitely try it, and you can put your bicycle inside the place against the wall, so good security. Popped into cafe velo on a rainy Saturday for a bite to eat , had the velo club sandwich and it was fabulous couldn’t fault the service or portion!! The cafe uses locally sourced ingredients for all its food and it is hand prepared on site and cooked as you wait. Will be back again to taste the delightful menu

We called into the Cafe Velo just out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised with the setting, atmosphere and service. I am a keen cyclist and think the theme is excellent. We people watched as riders came and went. Food looked amazing but we only had the coffee which was far better than the larger outlets nearby. Will definitely call again for a meal next time.

Great venue, comfortable seating, fabulous coffee and very tasty, well priced sandwiches. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. We are keen cyclists so found the cycling memorabilia really interesting. I believe the cafe try to source local products and definitely support local artists. If you would like a great cup of coffee this is certainly the place to visit!!

I was not looking forward to my lockdown birthday so you can imagine how excited I was to receive an Afternoon Tea from my daughter. The platter was brought to my door by Mrs M herself. It was beautifully presented and even had a Happy Birthday sticker on it. The food was delicious, I can honestly say that every mouthful was sublime. Highly recommended! It really made me feel special.
