Mrs Barnes' Bakery in Southend-on-Sea

My boyfriend and I shared a gluten free blonde slice. I have struggled with getting gluten free products from bakeries due to my anxiety around the cross contamination however the display is kept completely separate and sealed when taken away from the shop. My boyfriend is not gluten free and said the blonde was so good that he didn’t believe it was gluten free! We have also had a birthday cake (gluten free) which was also delicious

My partner was sent on an adventure to obtain some cupcakes, I had followed the bakery on Instagram and was overcome with cravings today.. we were not disappointed, the Oreo browning had an amazing texture and very subtle flavour.. our favourite was the lime and coconut cupcake , as the sharp tone of the lime cleanse the palate wonderfully , and it was not sickly or overpowering to eat..overall very light and fluffy cupcakes.. a must got to if you’re around Leigh on sea, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Have visited this shop every week since it opened!! There is so much choice and new flavours and tastes make for welcome additions every week. The cake jars.....wow!! And bonus if you take the jar back you get 50p off your next purchase! Blondies, brownies, cake jars galore. Well done Mrs Barnes and Mrs Barnes Jnr!!! Same time next week.....??!!! x Would highly recommend a visit! x

Found this little cake shop while walking through Leigh. Lots of cakes all at reasonable prices, with two lovely women serving - who know how to make a yummy cake. Highly recommend to get your sugar fix, anything with Kinder in for me (love the jars you see in my picture). I Highly recommend!!
