Amazed this place has bad reviews. £10 each all you eat in the middle of London. Expected to eat out of a bin and wee in the street for that. Well done Mr Wu. Ignore any bad comments - must be from people who are disappointed with their lives!

Great food and they do Chinese desert, which I like. Unfortunately, the staff at reception are quite noisy and keep on banging the pot and pans. Maybe due to the ground floor being small, so more amplified? The last time I went, it was closed for refurbishment.

I’ve been to Mr Wu’s many times, but not since Covid. So it was sort of the same but somewhat different, many of the old favourites are there but maybe a couple were missing. I have to say that the quality was a bit off a not as good as it was. However for the price it remains great value.

I think people are being a bit hard on Mr Wu’s. It isn’t a gourmet experience, but if you want that, you need to pay a lot more in this part of town. You can eat as much as you like and there is fresh salad as well as the catering pack Chinese staples. The sweet and sour pork is crisp, there are vegetable options and the prawn dishes have lots of prawns in them. Puddings taste of nothing at all, but there is always tinned pineapple.

Great chinese buffet with lots of fresh vegetables and absolutely amazing duck - really you would normally pay this much just for the duck let alone the whole meal. Basic surroundings, but pleasant service and clean facilities. Take note, they only take cash, no cards.

I have visited this establishment, wonderfully situated on Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of London’s ‘Theatreland’, several times in the last year and it has never been anything but a most satisfying experience for me or any of my friends. I cannot believe all the negative reviews on here. There’s another place with the exact same name very close by in London’s ‘Chinatown’ and it’s obvious that most of these reviews should be for that one. I used to go there regularly until a few years ago, but only because it was cheaper than anywhere else. This Mr Wu is much larger with very many more choices, including duck and king prawns as well as desserts. It’s an ‘all-you-can-eat’ buffet and you can fill your plate as many times as you like for the one price, which has been £12.95 recently. Drinks are inexpensive considering the West End location. Take note that cash only is accepted here. The only possible downside is that it often gets very busy and the tables are very close to others, but if you want more space and comfort you can always go elsewhere - and probably pay twice as much. Unlike some other Chinese buffets you don’t have to pay in advance, and I’ve always found the staff here very polite and friendly.

Okay, so it’s not a 5 star restaurant, but it definitely serves its purpose! The food is hot, they regularly change it and has great prices. Just £8.95 for an all you can eat buffet or £5 for take away, which you serve however much fits in a fairly dimensioned container. They even have tables for take away orders. Remember, you get what you pay!

Went here in December 2022 when on a weeks birthday trip. Wasn't expecting much at £8.95. But was surprised as the food was just how we like it. The Chicken wings were to die for, lovely noodles, beef in black sauce and lots of lovely diffrent stir fried veg if your a veggie and nice spring rolls. Staff were great. The place is small and basic inside but clean. And at £5 to take out a tub of food is amazing value. We went to another place we had been to before a few years ago and although the Chinese food was good we payed a smal fortune for it and agreed it was much better at Mr Wu's. So good infact we ate 3 times here and we're very fussy about our food. Just wish they had a place like this were I live I'd eat there every week if I could.

I am really surprised to read some of these reviews. I have been here several times and always enjoyed it. Although it means carrying your food downstairs I recommend it as it's much quieter down there and there's no music. Even though the price has increased to £11.95 plus 10% service charge it still represents excellent value for money considering its location (right opposite what is now called the Sondheim Theatre). There is a huge selection of dishes which are constantly replenished. Unlike other establishments nearby the food isn't displayed in the window but you are welcome to go in and have a look before deciding whether to eat there. Each container is clearly labelled so you can leave out what you don't like. I pigged out, starting with vegetable soup then seafood risotto then chicken legs & roast duck with lovely fresh broccoli then salad with hard boiled egg and finally prunes with raspberry blancmange (it's a pity the rest of the fruit is out of a tin), The staff, whom I found perfectly pleasant, gladly gave me a clean plate for each dish. I had a glass of perfectly acceptable red wine with my meal and my companion had a pot of Chinese tea (£1). Chilled tap water was supplied on request.

First I would advise potential eaters, to pay little attention to the negative reviews they might read. I have eaten here on several occasions, over the past 4 - 5 years and have NEVER been disappointed. You have to compare like with like. Mr Wu's is an 'Eat as much as you like', Chinese buffet. It is just around the corner from Chinatown and so has many competitors. It is always packed - testimony to its popularity! The price of £10.95 is exclusive of service charge, so be prepared to add this to the cost. The choice of dishes is outstanding and not limited to Chinese. This I see as a positive, as the tourists that frequent it, come from all over the world and may wish to try cuisines other than Chinese, all under one roof and at a budget price. All the food is well prepared and presentation is very good. When dishes get a bit low, new ones are brought out to replace them. The selection varies from, roast duck, chicken, king prawns, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, boiled rice, noodles, soup, a variety of well cooked (not over cooked) vegetables, fresh salad (Vegetarians take note) and desert. I could go on and on as their are too many dishes to list and far more than I have ever experienced in similar places. Yes, it does have its faults, it's not perfect. Sometimes a dish may be lukewarm, or running low, but that happens in all buffets. Personally, I would like to see ice cream and/or evaporated milk, with the deserts, as tinned fruit on its own can be a little dry. Seating is a little cramped - hence the 4 stars. If you are in any doubt, about trying Mr Wu's, go in and ask to look at what's on offer, before you decide. I think you will agree with me. Don't expect the Ritz, or Pizzaland and you won't be disappointed!

Visitamos como una familia de 4 en un viernes a las 5. 45 hs. Nos sentamos en una de unas pocas mesas vacías. Deberíamos habernos dado cuenta de que esto era una advertencia.

Staff were rude and abrupt on entering. Drinks order taken and bill had to be paid upfront. Self-service buffet style food with very limited options. Food was bland and nearly hot if stirring the dish before putting on plate. Tables are crammed together (had to keep moving out my seat to let others out to get food). Toilets were disgusting, need to wipe feet upon exit. Will definitely not be returning even if food is given away for free!

Yeah it's got a small selection when it comes to Chinese all you can eat, yeah they cram you in, yeah there's minimal love and affection regarding the service or the food, but it's the centre of London, you have hot food ready as soon as you sit down, and it's £10.95.

Yes it cheap for London. £10.95 for a buffet, but there is little choice and its certainly not quality food. Very disappointing. They have one prawn dish that looks amazing and does taste nice, I think that is what entices you in. But the rest is awful. Even the Coke and Lemonade drinks were flat.

Firstly, this is the one in Shaftesbury avenue not the one near the entrance to China Town. Its cheap for London prices, you can find enough in the buffet to eat. Don't expect top restaurant service or comfort. Fast food and friendly.

It’s a small all you can eat buffet. You pay on entry and it’s got a cafeteria feel. No alcoholic drinks just tin cans. There are around 15-20 dishes to choose from, but at just under £8 per person it’s hard to go wrong. If you want a proper Chinese meal in China town go elsewhere and pay more. If you want a quick fix while passing, then there’s nothing wrong with this place.

I took my daughter who had turned 16 to London for a theatre trip and she desperately wanted to visit china town so we saw Mr Wu and thought looking through the window food on buffet looked good and it was cheap so thought we would give it ago one lunch time well wish we hadn’t! On opening the door we were aggressively told go upstairs which we did we went up a very narrow cold stairwell and we were sat in a what I could describe as a store cupboard a waitress came over shoved a piece of card at us and said drink no manners at all we order two cokes and a buffet she said £18.90 nothing else - you have to pay before food. (I’m not surprised after eating it as you would do a runner) she bought two cans of coke over no glasses and then we went downstairs to the buffet again a single small cold stairwell seating downstairs I must add was restaurant style. Got our buffet and went upstairs again and we started to eat - it was cold and no taste at all. What a waste of £20

This buffet was highly recommended. The place was very full when we arrived but we landed a seat next to the buffet area on the 1st level while most people were seated downstairs. The food was good, not great. The selections were a bit limited but everything was hot. The duck was too salty but the Hot n Sour soup was delicious. The low price was a bonus. This is a nice find for a quick and inexpensive lunch.
