Always wanted to try The Chop House due to the reviews and reputation. However, both myself and my husband were completely underwhelmed. There was nothing particularly wrong with the food. I just found it to be average for the price (£24 and £19 per dish). At the end, when the bill came they had automatically added a %13 service charge which I find cheeky. A service charge should be a personal decision. There are plenty of people around that may have budgeted for this specific occasion. Again the service was okay but nothing outstanding. Not once did anyone ask how our food was. Glad to have tried it but doubt we will be rushing back.

This is a very old establishment and has plenty of history. Very nice to come and visit if you're ever in Manchester. The walls are all green. Tiled inside. Looks very nice. If you're into historic buildings, staff are very pleasant and polite, the price for the two lagers was a pints and half and cost around £10 which is standard for pups in and around Manchester

Stopped in recently. Food was super greasy—some bits were tasty, but overall a bit much. The place has that old pub charm, but there was a weird smell in the air—not awful, just off. Service was slow and not super friendly, though no one was rude. On the plus side, portions were big and prices were decent, so value was actually pretty good. Not a terrible spot, just not somewhere I’d rush back to.

Used to be a Manchester institution with good hearty meals and filling portions. The food is now poor, the once grand Suet Pudding is now 1/4 of the size it used to be and the Scotch Egg starter miniscule. Presentation is bad too, small side plates for main course to try and hide the lack of food. I'm done with it for food after 30 years of enjoyment

Whilst a lovely building, it was cold. The door was left open, in January. The food was lovely. Homemade Sunday lunch was delicious. The ice cream dessert for £6 was served in a ramekin with 3 scoops of ice cream. Lovely ice cream but the scoops were tiny. The dark haired waitress was miserable. Didn’t once ask if everything was ok and struggled to thank us when we paid. Made to feel like we were an inconvenience by all the staff apart from one of them. To top it off a 13% service charge was added. It was not mentioned on presentation of the bill, although we noticed afterwards that it mentioned at the bottom of the menu that a discretionary service charge would be added. I guess we should have read the menu right to the bottom. From experience usually this is mentioned when the bill is given. We could have declined to pay but it wasn’t offered. Won’t be returning.

Food and service was good here. But, while the restaurant is set in great and unusual historical pub, the tiled walls and large open bar area make the restaurant too noisy and difficult fir chatover food, especially as the bar was heaving. Just a two night stay in Manchester and found this amazing pub through tiktok. The atmosphere was quite nice, both for drinks and for food, as the pub is split into two to cater for both. The food was great. Greatest pub food we've had in a while. The food was a bit costly. Came around 70 quid for two with starter and drink included, and a service fee. Otherwise, a definite must visit if you're visiting the Manchester city core.

Had the traditional beef hash which was quite nice, my wife had the pork belly which was a bit over done. Service was pretty good, but over all the meals are quite poor value as they are on the expensive side for what you get, which is below average quality. The beer was good but a limited choice compared to others in Manchester. I'd say it needs to improve, the quirky setting is probably it's only real selling point at the moment.

Food was OK, went for something English, but menu seemed limited in that respect, daily pie was African chicken I think 🤔. The restaurant area was cold, cutlery not so shiny, and 13% service charge added on at the end, no itemised bill provided when paying, so that had us trying to work things as nobody saw the small print. Probably wouldn't bother returning here to be honest.

This place has been around for a long time (since 1867 to be exact). So they know what they're doing. The front section is actually a pretty ordinary pub section. A smattering of tables & ledges along the wall to rest your beer. We had a couple pints prior to our reservation time. It is just a few short steps to the restaurant proper at the back. It is a very attractive art nouveau inspired setting. Lovely tiles, well worn tables and a comfy feel. They currently have a terrific photo exhibit of well knoiw Mancunians (Sir Alex Feguson looks great !). We both had their daily pie with potatoes on the side. Solid and satisfying, just the way it should be. Good marks for the gravy. The fare is traditional, don't expect anything new fangled. Our server was polite & knowledgeable. Four glasses of wine, two mains & a service charge clocked in at 75 GBP which seemed quite reasonable. Stop in for a comfortable evening of beer, wine & a savoury pie.

What an amazing place. I was hungry, we were walking past looking for somewhere but I wanted something a little more traditional as there are plenty of Italian and tapas style places but few traditional so we took a flyer with this and was not disappointed. My wife, who is not vegetarian, had blue cheese and mushroom pie. Which was so tasty. In the absence of a good shepherds pie I had a suet pudding stuffed with pulled brisket - amazing and certainly puts a lining one ones stomach. All washed down with a very nice large glass of tempranillo. Even got a larger table without a problem when I asked. Very nice friendly and excellent service in a very interesting atmosphere. Consistentemente bien ahora.

I recently found the wackey warehouse and my son loves it. We called in for some food afterwards and although the restaurant was busy, staff were able to move around some bookings to accommodate myself and 2 toddlers. (Sons Cousin joined us too) All the staff went above and beyond to help- even managing to extend our table stay longer so that I didn’t have to rush with my toddlers. (I think they could see I was struggling a little- also 6 months pregnant). Every staff member from the front desk to the table staff were friendly, polite and made us feel at easy and comfortable even interacting with the children too . My son wasn’t happy that he didn’t have a cone on his ice cream and the waiter tried his best to offer Maltesers to add to make him happy. They could also see me struggling with my take away cavery as the kids made it too hectic for me to eat. So I decided to take my food home to enjoy in peace later. They came over with a take away bag for me which made carrying my food along with all the toddlers things so much easier. Honestly from a tired, exhausted mum, little things like this are big things and a kind face/ interaction just helps the stresses of parenting that little bit better. I’m not normally one to write a review but the staff really do deserve a pat on the back. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough money to tip them but they do deserve recognition. A kind friendly service that ensures our next visit to the wacky warehouse will also transpire to a visit for some food afterwards too. Thank you ☺️
