Very poor quality. Everything you want to avoid in a takeaway.

I have always ordered from here ,but after the last twice ,will never step in here again,food was disgusting, threw it in bin,would not give it any star's if I could

3 dishes and they, including ingredients tasted the same (very strange taste). Fried rice was a mixture of sliced meats, mushrooms, sauce with a soggy brown rice underneath. What a waste of money. Threw the lot out!

Gone downhillbsince new owners. I ordered special fried rice to carry out . The rice was soggy and dry as it should be and they added big pieces of carrots to the dish which made it worse. It should be chicken, pork, King prawn and of course the rice . I won't be going back there again ..absolutely terrible

Simply the best Hot and Soup I have ever tasted, although, the portion was slightly smaller, I went into the take away to give my feedback. I am a discerning customer in search for Good Chinese Food. The soup was Simply delicious with lots of chicken! I will return there again..

After a long drive to Nairn, we ordered the food over the phone. It was ready in ten minutes, and it was very hot and delicious

This used to be the best Chinese in Nairn. Since new ownership the service is shocking. Rude staff, delivery over the hour, no apology. Food not as nice either. Go to Lucky House instead.

Tried ordering online, website said they were closed! Tried calling phone rang and rang and no answer. Went elsewhere.

This is definitely the worst Chinese take away we have ever ordered from. We ordered chicken chow mein with no onions and got dry noodles with no sauce, no vegetables and dry brown textured chicken, if it was chicken, on top. We then ordered kung pao chicken with chicken fried rice both were absolutely disgusting and very salty. Never again!

Takeaway ordered via the app, simple to use and was ready within our walk from campsite to the shop. We Had the peking ribs, veg chow mien and fillet Steak Cantonese style. all was very tasty and healthy sized portions. Thank you Mr Tan’s

Not bad but not my favourite. Special fried rice was too wet and had soggy cabbage and other veg in there. I was expecting a normal dry rice with various meats and prawns only, as the menu didn't say otherwise. Prawns were a plus as they were big and plump. Fried rice element itself was not that tasty. Rice was not well seasoned and coated, tasted bland - none of the umami taste you get from a good friend rice. Had a salt and pepper munchie box too, this was good and met the brief.

The most bland chowmein I’ve ever had.very disappointing. It’s in the bin . Couldn’t eat it .

The worst meal I have ever eaten or at least binned. Aromatic Duck was sour and so dry it snapped. Everything else was tasteless and dry. Never again !!!!!! Complete waste of money !!!!!!

The Best Chinese food by far, Amazing

Food was excellent just wanted Mr Tan to be aware of the following. We ordered a take away to be delivered last Friday at 5.30pm (charge £3.50 delivery, I assume this is agreed with the taxi company) our post code is 3.7miles from Nairn high street same distance as Auldearn. Taxi driver phoned for directions and then said deliver would cost an additional £7, perhaps Mr Tan could clarify the delivery charges so customers will not face an expected delivery cost jumping from £3.50 to £10.50 unexpectedly

Amazing is the word. Had the set meal for 2, with salt and pepper ribs. Service was excellent and food was absolutely delicious. Definitely be back next time we are in Nairn.

Lovely chinese, best king prawn curry I've had in ages. Very reasonable prices and staff couldnt of been more helpful. Will definitely be back 👍

Ordered pick up a number of times, foods been good, not much to write home about.

Unfortunately Worst Chinese meal I've ever had! I ordered chicken chow mein. Dry strips of chicken, a LOT of noodles. That was it. My son had chicken curry, chicken was questionable, a bit slimy and undercooked. Used to be such a good Chinese, not now tho. ☹️

If you are getting an online delivery it doesn't seem to let you order to ardersier, although the choice is given. It is easier phoning them. Set meal for 2 is a really good deal.

Update: the place is under new management (same name, but Mr Tan and family aren't there) and no longer offers gluten free. Mr Tan is an absolute babe, especially as he'll make anything you want gluten free. Even when I forget to say gluten free, he reminds me or makes it gf anyway, which has saved me on at least 3 occasions. Only had a mixed up order once (due to a large order and unclear phone connection) which was quickly rectified with no fuss. For those who like things spicier or milder, if you ask, Mr Tan will do just that! Great service, his family are wonderful, and I've still yet to find something to complain about!

Made a call to this food service business now under its second ownership since re_ownership. The attitude by the phone caller is shocking. No please or thank you has been her personal attitude since day one. Apparently going to University makes you better than the customer!!!!There words not mine. Sad that the new employers haven't realised this.

Good looking chips rice and bbq sauce here.... apart for one thing no sauce and when I phone to ask if they can send someone down with some he said I'd have to come back up for some. That's why I choose to go to lucky house. Shame thought I'd give tans a chance again... mistaken!

Just had takeaway. Absolutely disgusting and inedible. Don't use this takeaway. Have used this takeaway for years with no complaints. Has new owners and has sadly gone down hill

We have not been to Mr Tan for a while and really enjoyed our food from Mr.Tan today. The house curry and the sweet and sour chicken ,HK style, were delicious.Good portions and friendly service. Will be back soon .

The food has gone down hill since the tan's are not the owners. Delivery through the let's eat app takes over an hour and when you call to ask how long it will be the answer is soon!! Hmm how long is soon..... they hang up... already have my money

We have been regular customers for a long time. We ordered online from them. They promise delivery within one hour and finally after numerous attempts to call them it arrived after two hours. It was inedible. We made a number of calls to complain. Finally spoke with them. They refused a refund. We live in Nairn but we’ll not go back again.

Whenever we get a takeaway from Mr Tan we are never disappointed. The chicken curry is tremendous and big portions so enough to share

I completed a big bike ride and was extremely hungry, so decided to opt for a takeaway. It was difficult to find details of what was available in Nairn, and whether places had reopened, but Mr Tan's appeared in the recommendations. We had a mixed starter and I had beef with blackbean sauce. The meals were good, with big portions and plenty of veg including a lot of onions. The beef was gristly and quite chewy, which let it down slightly, but the sauce was good. A positive experience, with generous portions, but just short of 5 stars.

Passed Tan’s and not entirely enticing from the outside. We got a Chow Mein and Szechuan. The Szechuan was lovely chow mein, average , a bit lacking in flavour. Still it was good portions and as the title says, did the job.

Excellent food. In fact I would say the best place to get a quick meal. Spotless, efficient and at a very reasonable price 👌

Must be the worse Chinese meal ever. Ordered a beef and a char sui chow mein. The meat in both was disgusting , both meals went in the bin , would even give it to the dog.

Asian food 100% my favourite so always hunting for the best of everything in an all round menu. Look no further than Mr Tans. I can honestly say it has a lot to offer in quality and its very good. I like consistency not just a hit and a miss and I've not been disappointed once. Piping hot always. Flavour for days and just well cooked with great ingredients. Recommendations. Fillet steak with peppers and black bean sauce. Prawn toast Chicken Foo Young Any of their selection of Ribs or wings Chicken noodle soup is so full of flavour your kids will love. If their fussy ask for no spring onion garnish. Website will keep you looking for at least 15 minutes so be prepared. Get a selection I promise it's worth it.

Placed an online order via the link when clicking mr tan website. Placed order at 6:30 it is now 9.00 and no order received. Payment taken from my account and acceptance of order email sent. Called the take away 15 times to try get some clearance on if my food is coming or if I will get refund. Very unhappy As no way to contact anyone. I am not one to put bad reviews up but I have no choice as no response from any other way of contact.

Absolutely disappointing. Ordered a crispy shredded chicken, lemon chicken, rice and chips. The crispy chicken came in the worst sweet and sour sauce (which wasn't mentioned on the menu so wasn't expecting anyway) and the lemon chicken was just chicken in a similar sauce with a slice of lemon on top and a pile of pineapple underneath. Truly disgusting. Chips were overcooked, honestly best thing was the rice.. Never felt so disappointed in a takeaway, will not be ordering ever again.

Absolutely revolting, just picked up order and its straight in the bin, totally inedible, supposed to be crispy beef in canton sauce, tasted like rubber bands in hp sauce, will never use again,

Multiple times I have asked for chicken breast but they supply chicken thigh. A cheaper cut.I called today and they told me it was breast. I know my cuts of chicken. BS. I expect chicken breast. I do not expect chicken breast!What a joke. TripAdvisor do not accept BS as it's a profanity. FFS. Get a grip!

Usually enjoy but lately quality has plummeted just ordered 30 quid of stuff and ended up only eating chips and gravy, such a let down gave two instead of one because I have had good here before

On a wee holiday and this chinese was near our apartment so popped in for a takeaway.I got Singapore noodles which were delicious but the other half got Kung po and it actually tasted like bbq sauce not a hot sweet and sour ?? He ate half and left the rest. Shame...

Visiting area on holiday so you never know what you are going to end up with when getting a takeaway. A helpful girl working in a pub told us she liked to use this one so we went ahead and ordered and we are so pleased we did. It was excellent in every way- quality of food, generous portions and cooked perfectly. So fresh and tasty! We wish we could take this place home with us!!

On our first night in Nairn and we picked a great Chinese takeaway. Mr Tans was the closest to our apartment. Salt and spicy chicken wings crispy on the outside succulent inside, peppers, chilies and onions tasty and fresh. Prawn toast likewise cooked to perfection. Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style was tasty too. All looked and tasted spot on.

Order a fried rice and BBQ sauce to go find hair in my rice and sauce not hot went back to get refunded they said sorry don't do refunds so asked to speak to manager she said same. Went and runners one takeway i like to eat from. Not going back.

Must be the worst Chinese food I've ever tasted plain and simple, nothing positive to say about this place, I was working in the area, and unfortunately stopped here for some fast food it was neither fast nor good, big mistake.

new owners and oh my goodness! took me half an hour to get someone to answer the phone, and hour and a half for delivery after another phone call which took forever to get through, my food finally arrived and I honestly wish it never, cold, soggy and tasteless, very very disappointed since the new owners took over and I will be looking for a new chinese to order from!

Wow! Amazingly fresh, cooked to order. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff on the front counter.The food was delicious, not at all greasy like some of the others in the area. Veggies were crisp and full of flavour, the chicken was delicious, and we'll seasoned.The salt and spiced wings were amazing. Would highly recommend, and will be visiting again

Got a take away from here whilst on holiday at Lochloy. One of the best we have had.

Chinese take away from Mr Tans Nairn.2 curries one special one chicken promptly delivered to Lochloy Caravan park ,food delivered hot and was tasty and fresh would definitely use again if staying in Nairn ,almost as good as favourite local Chinese difficultly to find fault on this occasion.

This is the second time we have had a takeaway from Mr Tan and excellent both times. Excellent delivery for a £1.

One of our party wanted Chinese so got a carry out from here. The spare ribs portion was huge but the meal overall was largely uninspiring.

Service was amazing. Lady who served us was very polite. Food was nice but didn't really like the chicken chow mein. Not alot of flavour. Same with the fried rice

I visit every time I’m home and let me tell you it’s the best! the food is always fantastic and fresh, my favorite is Chicken Curry or Chicken biryani, always a favorite place to eat when I’m home!

We were staying at the caravan park and decided to eat in. The food was reasonably priced but we found the noodles.and.the chicken to be dry, everything else was fine.

Seriously do not eat here. I dont even think its chicken! I ordered a chicken curry (how you can mess that up god knows!) Curry was basically oil and the chicken was questionable.. squishy. Yuk! Noodles are shocking.. thin tiny noodles that are stuck together in the container like tar! Avoid!!!!

Ordered a meal for myself and my partner and the meals were delicious and very reasonably priced would recommend.

Phoned in an order for set meal for 3 and collected. Everything was straight forward. The meal was tasty, the spare ribs particularly. The fried rice was quite dark coloured and oily but there was plenty of veg in the main courses and everything seemed fresh and healthy (*as with a lot of Chinese food it was quite salty, but if you're worried about salt, you won't eat takeaway often). Portions were very generous - there was plenty of food to feed well 3 adults and 2 kids, with a little left over.

Mr Tan's must be one of the best Chinese, ever the food is fantastic,and there are queues almost every night.Mrs Tan is a very nice person and makes you very welcome,(If you've tried the rest,now try the best)

Lovely Chinese food at great prices

In the main I only get carryouts. Phoning in your order means you're told when to come and collect saving a wait. We have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times, but lack of customers made poor atmosphere. Fiona and her husband run a good business with laughter and friendliness .

Good busy on weekends, sometimes 20 minute wait, but good food, do local delivery, can phone in order.

I use Chinese takeaways at least once a month. They are usually reliable. This place is almost beyond words. The `beef' was inedible and went in the bin. The rest wasn't much better. Never again. I urge the folk of Nairn to boycott this embarrassingly bad outlet.

I confess to being a little concerned at ordering the meal for a family gathering in Nairn having read some of the previous reviews.

Chicken chow mein that was the driest thing I have ever seen in my life no sauce in it at all and tasteless lemon chicken and fried rice brought for us when clearly Thai cottage over the road that we normally use was where our dinner should have come from and always will in future it certainly was not the lovely suprise intended for us and the chickrn curry with chicken fried rice that our friends had was not alot better

worse chicken chow main ever, only been here once before did not like it then, mate wanted to use this place, bad mistake, horrible, all noodle a bit of what i think was meant to be chicken slapped on top, and some sort of thick gravy i think chucked on top, never again defo thai cottage is the best, waste of 15 quid

Visited here one Sunday night during a weekend away, ordered 2 beef curries with fried rice and a portion of chips, the beef was properly traditionaly cooked but cheap fatty cuts which made the beef tough and hard to chew when it should have softly melted in your mouth and the curry sauce was way far to sickly sweet and rice was too dry also, chips were fine but "hey" chips are chips regardless.

Thank goodness for Mr Tan Nairn, Quality ingredients, cooked well, I drive 10 miles to pick up my takeaway rather than use the local ones. The customer is treated well and other takeaways should take a leaf out of their book, they were recommended to me by a colleague who lives locally and I note that the phone is very busy as is the premises , always a good sign, the staff are very nice and I feel very good after every visit. We visit Nairn twice a year. It is a must for us to have a takeaway from Mr Tan . The food is always good quality and plentiful Freshly made

Had a special chow main was lovely ...staff was great asked for extra sauce but instead gave me a free tub of sauce and prawn crackers ...With b back the next time I'm in town can't wait to get back to edinburgh so I can go 2 my local chinese the Hong Kong for a special curry fried rice. ......

Long established takeaway that provides really tasty food cooked using authentic recipes - a little different from the standard fayre! Good service.

Noticed many poor reviews - but had lovely take away - Duck in plum sauce and Barbecued ribs - ready in 10 minutes. Locals seem to like the place as well as the takeaway was busy!!

Well well well where do I even begin with this absolute atrocity of an establishment. This ‘chinese’ if it can even legally be called that is the closest you can possibly get to hell. The food? Disgusting. The customer service? Abysmal. Mrs Tan - or whatever the woman working here is called - is a stone cold rhymes with witch starts with a B. But let’s not even get into that. Since u go to a chinese for the food I will tell u about that. I ordered noodles and shredded chicken - pretty standard stuff, only a fool would mess it up. Well mrs tan is a fool in that case because the chicken was drier than the Sahara desert and so were the noodles. Sauce? Mrs tan has never even heard of sauce. The noodles were literally like little bits of string like so skinny they were practically anorexic. They had absolutely no flavour at all. The chicken was literally pieces of dried batter with barely any chicken in them. Also the food was obviously not fresh because it took about a minute to ‘make’. Just don’t go here, it’s disgusting and you will regret it just order a dominoes or something. I will be posting a second review about the customer service once I have composed myself because thinking about it is giving me ptsd.
