Dennis's Chinese Carryout in Highland

So disappointed, service was awful. Had starters which was chicken spring rolls and were rock hard. then out came mains and the server tried to place them on top of our starter plates! The plates were dumped on another table and just left there. We asked for 3 lemonades and the server came out with 3 glasses of tap water. The server and another lady were stretching over our plates to try and get his son who invited himself to sit with us, which was cute and he was a lovely well mannered little boy but had his hands all over our poppadoms , then the dad took it off him and put it back on our plate. Then came the bill….. they added a £7.82 service charge!which we refused to pay. Curry’s was nice but far too much veg in it. Sorry but will not be back.

The chef & front of house were very helpful with accommodating my sesame allergy, despite most of their meals containing sesames, the chef went out of his way to make me a meal from scratch & was very reassuring. The food was definitely fresh & fantastic too. Easily the best & friendliest Chinese in Inverness.

Absolutely disgusting, stodgy slop ! Ordered tonight and was shocked By how much this place has gone down hill. The only thing that was edible was the rice. Prawn balls were pure batter, s&s sauce was more closely related to ketchup and the spring rolls looked like something from last weeks buffet ! Seriously DONT EAT THIS FILTH. Called the restaurant to complain and was abruptly told that there was nothing they could do and hung up on. So the service matched the food standards.

Hands down best chinese in inverness sauces are spot in food is banging most other places sauces are bland

I had a king prawn and mushroom, it was very bland. Had no problems other times.

For years we have been ordering food from here and today for our guests and ourselves we decided to do the same... Unfortunately it was a big mistake, the order was completely wrong, missing chips and fried rice given as I was ordered, no it wasn't, duck worse than a rubber duck and apparently plum sauce is yellow and has pineapple in it (well never in 15 years I have heard of it) black bean sauce was nothing but gravy and the food was completely tasteless. We called back and I got nothing but an attitude, absolutely disgusting food tonight and disgusting customer service. Don't order anything from this take away if you don't want to ruin your evening and wast your money

Just had chicken chowmain, with curry sauce was lovely, as I always have curry duck, fancied a change.

Friendly on the phone, 15 minutes on a Saturday night for collection. Salt and Chilli spare ribs where exceptional. Beef and black bean sauce was a bit tough but sauce was good. Good value for money. Will come again. Thanks

Well just ordered from them 45 min ago, food was way away from good. Chicken curry and chicken with vegetables. Chicken used to be moisture in side but was slightly overcooked, curry sauce was so dense you could stuck your spoon in it and would stand still, no flavour just spicy ,used to be sweet but not anymore even curry sauce from scotmid tastes way better. Now lets go to main event. Chicken and veg taste like been cooked 2 days ago, vegetables in it taste like they have been one step away from rotten. Half of box sprouts were one step away from rotten as well. Basically don't order it if you want to ruin your evening. Not recommend it. Used to be my number one of the best chinises in Inverness but now will consider 3 times before order it again. Totally not recommend at all.

My neighbour recommended this place to us and boy were they bang on. They have an amazing munchie box it has something for everyone all in one

Ordered a Chinese from here yesterday as our usual one was closed, best Chinese I think Iv eaten in inverness! Fresh tasting and great value for money! This is to be our new Chinese takeaway go to!

Not knowing where to get food from as the hotel if they knew a nice takeaway and they told us to go here. The food was really nice, a bit expensive to what we would normally pay but at least it was good.

Don't be fooled by the unappealing exterior of the store. There is excellent Chinese food delivered at really fair prices. And the portions also seem larger to me than in continental Europe. I'm excited.

Used this takeaway for a good few years now, decent food, only thing I've ever put in the bucket from here are empty containers

This takeaway is now a new family favourite, the portions there are so generous and the staff have been so kind and helpful. Can’t wait to go back for more

Delivery is usually pretty quick and the food is piping hot! Lady on the phone is polite, helpful and patient and delivery drivers are really friendly and respectful, especially the lovely lady who always enthusiastically tells us to enjoy our meal!

I always get a good meal here. The service is second to none. Highlight of my day is Wendy (Delivery Girl) popping along and giving me my food with a smile and a little bit of chat while I pay. I always grump that is getting more expensive in the current climate which is always taken well. I appreciate the little bit of chat as depending on how I'm feeling. Sometimes it's the only person I might see that day. I appreciate the time spent just for that minute or 2. Well done.

Worse chinese I ever had. No tatse or flavour. No cutlery or napkins. I'm definatly not going there again.

Delicious food. Was a good selection on the menu. Reasonable price too. For someone out of town its always pot luck when choosing food without recommendations but glad we found this place.

Dennis' Chinese Take Away has to be one of the best in the UK let alone Inverness - they use real , good quality meat and their meals are the tastiest I've ever eaten - don't ever change , Dennis , you are the BEST .

Simply terrible. Loaded with MSG and salt. If you want your mouth to tingle for the rest of the night from all the MSG, then eat here. And it ain’t cheap either 😭

Love the food, regularly order here. However I have stopped ordering from here as another member of the household has intolerance to chilli. Several orders have been placed where chilli has been in the wanted dishes. I would avoid here if you have food intolerances

Smug "you know what!" answered the phone not taking any order without any explanation as to why as it shows open till 11pm. Maybe you should take those times down if you're closed before half 10 you half wits!!

Curry sauce and rice still taste good but the chicken balls don’t taste the same as before. They taste almost chalky

0 stars. We were absolutely disgusted when we received our munchie box and saw this. It was in all of the batter and had transferred to the other items of food. So disappointed. Currently waiting for a refund.

If I could give zero stars i would. I used to phone to order for collection and it happened on several occasions that they were very abrupt on the phone but today the lassie was extremely rude. I placed the order for 3 meal and my daughter changed her choice in last minute and I was told to phone back as there is another customer to serve in the shop. I politely said I am a customer as well and she is serving me at the moment, then I got shouted at on the phone and the girl literally hang up on me. No food is worth the lack of respect

Our favourite Chinese takeaway in Inverness. Yet to be disappointed by the food. Good portion sizes and very tasty. The biggest downfall is the incredibly long delivery times, which is a common occurrence here. However, when ordering for collection through the text service, our food was ready to collect within 15 minutes, which is fantastic.

Have been customers for 20+ years But no more!!!! Ordered a takeaway on sat 7/8/21.took 2 hours and ten minutes to deliver. My wife phoned after an hour and a half to cancel the order and was told it was with the driver. When the driver arrived he assured us he had just collected it. Being the regular driver I believed him. Obviously it was as it was still hot. So as well as being inefficient the staff Are blatant liars. I have also posted a review on trustpilot but Dennis complained and it was removed. Obviously he's easily offended by the truth.Didnt realise he was such a fragile petal.!!!!!! Disgraceful way to treat loyal customers. Will never go there again Obviously the only thing the Chinese are Efficient in delivering is a fkg pandemic.

Best Chinese in Inverness. Great food from friendly staff.

I ordered mini veg spring rolls and Singapore fried rice there. Both meals are tasty and fresh. A staff was kind. Highly recommend if you miss Asian food during your stay in Inverness.

Known this place since it opened. Had yet another cracking portion of ribs. The prawn curry was excellent the chicken curry the same. Special fried rice was excellent too. Still the best in Inverness I think

Have been a customer of Dennis's for more years than I care to remember and the quality of food is second to none in Inverness. However, tonight I placed an order for collection and went to collect it with dog on lead as I have done without any issue for past 6 years .The young lady behind counter put my order on the countertop and just as I was about to scan my card and leave the old lady who was taking the phone orders shouted over that dogs are not allowed inside. I was taken aback and slightly embarrassed by this as were the young lady and man that were also working behind the counter. I asked what she wanted me to do and she replied rudely ' take the dog outside ' which I did expecting someone to follow me outside with the card reader and my order.This didn't happen and after several minutes the young lady waved me back inside and was obviously embarrased by her colleagues actions saying we dont usually have any issues with dogs on the premises. I paid for my order and left. Needless to say I won't be back!

Waiting over an hour normally great but wasn't impressed it was luke warm and the chips weren't fresh 👹

I judge all Chinese takeaways on the strength of its lemon chicken and I love it! Salt and pepper chips are ace and this time I have salt and chilli chicken and that was amazeballs too. We visit almost weekly when we are working in Inverness.

Basic Chinese takeaway. Did the job when everything else was closed and we needed something quickly, but really the food is much too salty and greasy for my liking.

Can be busy at times (good sign) food is nice & hot and tastes lovely. Sweet and sour has the right balance. Beef curry tastes good at the time and the day after. Happy to change dishes if required.

Poor duck meal which was overcooked with raw veg thrown on top. My partners veg curry was decent.

I complained on Tuesday as my meal was Not how it usually is. The woman said the chef said my food was cooked how it usually is & there was nothing she would do to rectify my complaint! Not good customer service & not how to keep a customer happy so needless to say I will not be using Dennis’ again. My daughter said her meal was terrible last weekend from Dennis’ , just slop but didn't bother to complain bc you are never offered an alternative nor are you offered a refund. 2 complaints in one week is not a good service.

There was a meal on their Facebook page that looked nice. I went to order it and they wanted £11.10 🤣🤣🤣 eh no! I'll have chicken curry which was ok...not as nice as the previous owners but not many choices left in Inverness

Normally very good however last night part of my order was incorrect. The order was for one Kung Po and one Chop Suey but I receive Fu Yung instead of Chop Suey. I live too far from the shop to take it back.

The woman who answered the phone said it was fine to deliver to dores then I asked if I could get 2 portions of egg fried rice she then asked me if that was all and I said yes what drinks do u have and she said “you are joking. Is that all you’re ordering?” I then said yes is there a problem with that and she said no but you will have to pay by card because that’s a long way to go for 2 portions of egg fried rice. Over all the staff member that answered the phone was an absolute cow I don’t recommend.

Lovely food and the delivery service is excellent.

Got a sweet and sour chicken there and it was disgusting. I could only eat half and felt sick afterwards. The "crispy" chicken balls were dripping with horrible oil that tasted off. They were overdone but also had next to no batter on. The sauce wasnt tasty, and the rice didn't taste fresh. Very disappointing. Will not be visiting again.

Really good take away - great value for money and huge range on menu. The shredded chilli beef is a personal favourite.

I'm not a local and review any takeaway i go to in the UK but this is the Best Chinese in Inverness regardless of what anyone says about any others.... Dennis' is A Class..... try a 'super spicy' special curry... ask for it as above...recommended!! Staff really nice too 😉
