Golden River in Highland

Is golden River still closed .can't seem to get an answer from them .

We was staying about 15mins away and thought we would try this Chinese. Highly recommend the salt&pepper chicken pieces,fried rice(which is actually egg rice)shredded chicken in capital sauce. I have dropped a star for the chips as not the best (personal taste maybe) and the satay chicken wasn't expecting no skewers and the sauce wasn't great. Would come here again if on holiday. All really hot when arrived back. Free prawn crackers too. The Chinese itself needs heating while your waiting it's freezing, so order by phone.

Nice meal - under new ownership in the last few months. I would happily have another take away from The Golden River.

Value for money. An underrated Chinese takeaway in Fort William. Both the quality and quantity were great. Highly recommend the chicken based rice dishes, appetizers and mains. Would definitely revisit when around.

Shocking food. The sauce was thick, gelatinous and had a generic taste in the two main dishes we had. The satay sauce didn't even taste like satay, the chips were cold and soggy. The duck dish we had was horrid. The duck was way over cooked and hardly edible. The kung po chicken sauce tasted like the sauce from the duck and had a weird orange diluting juice taste... Even the fortune cookie was chewie. Never again!

Food (lemon chicken and chichen fried rice) was great. But pricey though. Ref atmosphere: the surfaces in the waiting area were a bit sticky...

Walking holiday in Fort William. Delicious food after a long day out on hills.Totally enjoyed particularly the salt and pepper chicken.

Always get takeaway here when in the area and have never had a bad experience. The salt and pepper munchy box is fantastic value and very tasty.

Food was amazing, as it always is.

I ordered the fried rice and sweet and sour Cantonese style chicken. The meal was still hot after a 10 minute walk and the service was very quick. The person that served me was also kind enough to fill up my water bottles which was lovely. Excellent food for the price point!

Ordered the orange chicken and beef with ginger and scallions. The orange chicken was inedible, had to throw it out. They didn't give me beef, but chicken with ginger and scallions, which was ok, the chicken was precooked.

Good portion sizes, satay chicken and beef in black pepper were good. Reasonable pricing also.

Wrong order received but answer was deal with it.

Garbage service followed by garbage food, all this after being lied to for over an hour. Most of the food is in the bin ,they really have no idea what Chinese food is! Absolutely will not recommended this place, better going to service station and getting pre packed sandwich

I decided to give 2 stars as we spend a weekend in William's. and this was the only takeaway open on a Sunday no sure if therw are more but near to us so we decided to have the meal for 4 people. In my opinion i think was over price for what the give you and wasn't enough meat on the plates? Was more sauce rice to over cook the ribs was cold and the sweet corn soup no as good as it shoulf be. Do i recommend it well honestly it all depends on your taste if you have a microwave at home better walk another 5m and go to the supermarket and buy something there if you are a bit lazy well i think you can order ans wait 40m? To be your meal ready? Do i go back well if i am in William's no i won't

A really good Chinese takeaway in my experience. Friendly service, good fast delivery, food still really hot when it arrived and very tasty.

Had shredded beef. Couldn't taste beef, just an overcooked batter. The veg was practically raw. Worst I've had.

Curry & chicken balls ok salt & pepper chips revolting and thrown away. Nothing more than cooked chips covered in chilli powder!

Best in town great price's better service can't fault.

The food is good and always delivered promptly and very pleasent lady on phone and same for delivery man. And most importantly unlike almost every other place in Fort William food is never missing and never takes 90 mins to 2 hours which is hard to find.

Been up and down in quality in the past. But the last 3 visits have been tastey and fresh.

Picked up a take away. Food was great and tasty. Chicken Curry and the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings were very good. Phone orders only due to covid with one-in one-out on pick up.

Chicken in batter is to die for

Fuimos para llevar el viernes 3 de enero. El arroz frito con pollo era arroz cocido cocido en exceso, con grumos medio fritos. luego tiras de pollo congelado con algún tipo de salsa sabrosa vertida sobre el arroz. la salsa de curry era de otro mundo y algo que le servirías a un enemigo. La llamada salsa agridulce parecía una salsa de fresas con un toque de vinagre relleno en la parte posterior. Este lugar mantendrá a los binmen en el trabajo para siempre, porque ahí es donde lo puse, una pérdida total de dinero. ¡EVITAR! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Got to be the worse food we have ever tasted!! The curry sauce didn’t even taste like curry sauce! And the chicken is like cheap savers sliced rubbish! Never going back, wish I went next door to the Awkward eater.

i stay locally and use this place quite regularly and it never fails to please a good munch reasonably price with a good service . and they delover if needed

Prima Chinees restaurant met een ruime kaart. De dame achter de balie is zeer vrolijk en je proeft hier de liefde in het eten. Afhalen is de beste optie want er zijn geen tafels om het in het restaurant op te eten.

Lovely place. Service is always impeccable, including ringing us up when there was a delay. Food is good value, great tasting and always delivered piping hot. 100% would recommend

Dejé de comer aquí hace muchos años porque tuvimos una experiencia muy mala con nuestra comida del río dorado, pero esta noche pensamos en volver a intentarlo. Esperamos que las cosas hayan cambiado. La comida no se comió y estuvo lista en 5 minutos. textura muy dura, todas las papas envueltas juntas nadando en galletas de gambas con grasa, 3 comidas enteros terribles fueron en un contenedor nunca más.

Let’s be honest, they won’t be winning awards anytime soon. Food was absolutely dreadful, wouldn’t feed it to my cat. The chow mein looked knocked together with frozen veg and a cheap pack of Lidl noodles. They managed to mess up the order by missing out dishes. The prawn toast looked more like sesame seed toast, no prawn whatsoever. If this is what the locals in Fort William have to make do with for a Chinese takeaway then I really do feel for you! I’d steer clear and save your money unless you want a serving of disappointment.

Most the food is substandard, especially the chicken balls, chicken is not much bigger that a 5p piece and double batter which suggests double fried left overs, sauces all taste the same. The sides like samosa were good and the prawn crackers were good, duck pure fat but sweet n sour soup amazing

Having read some not so good reviews we tried the chicken curry and was not disappointed

Some fake reviews, food is greasy and some inedible. The chicken has fat on it and drowned in sauce.

Read the reviews n thought good choice for a Chinese after driving down from portree.....disappointed! Although it was fresh and hot.....totally lacked any flavour (special curry) And watery curry no property consistency to it. Think I'll try over the road from it next time see if it's any better.

"Dios mío", salí a buscar un Rating de Higiene de los Alimentos. . . no había uno. . . mi esposa ya había ordenado. . . Le aconsejé sobre el estado de este lugar. . . El chef cerró la puerta de la cocina, así que no pudimos ver. . . . La Dama de Londres, detrás del mostrador, informó que habían estado cerrados durante una semana, y creo que lo que habíamos pedido se había dejado en el Lado por esa semana. . . Fue Un - Edable. . . La salsa de curry era como agua sin sabor. . . The Sweet & Sour fue lo mismo. . . tiramos todo en el Bin. . . Luego vinieron los Free Crack Crakers que nos dieron. . . . Podrías doblarlos, como dónde está fuera de fecha. . . Basura total y este lugar necesita una visita del Consejo. . .

Duck in barbeque sauce is the best

Chicken egg foo yung, good food say no more. If you are on a boat on the Caledonian Canal its worth not cooking and getting a takeaway from here as a treat.

Would not recommend. Food has no flavour and was Very greasy. None of my family ate it as dosgustin. Worries me it Was ready in 5 mins??? Go to the takeaway over to road it is much better and good quality. Avoid this place

Great place! Was visiting from Seattle for a road trip and my travel buddy got sick so I was on the hunt for takeout and soup of some sort. I first went to Deli Barqen Chinese takeaway but the wait was so long, but not being a local I didn't know that I should have called in for an order. So I walked across to Golden River and ordered soup (for my friend) Chicken Fried Rice - the rice was amazing - and Spring Rolls ( or Fried Egg Rolls to Americans) everything was sooooo good! And Especially coming from Seattle where Asian food is well known for. And the wait for a Saturday night was not long. Highly recommend! Especially for visitors looking for inexpensive good food!

We used to visit the other take away across the car park, but their food went down hill this year, this is the one to go to, no complaints about the quality or the prices/

Buscando un chino en Fort William, y elegí este de Tripadvisor. En primer lugar, la tienda era algo de los 70 o de la película 'Deliverance'. La mujer detrás del mostrador era totalmente ignorante y no pude entenderle. En realidad ella lanzó la realizar en el mostrador. La comida en sí era muy sosa. Quizás, si no hay gente de la competencia le dan calificaciones superiores, pero créeme, si lees este comentario y aún seguir adelante y comprar una comida más tonto.

Qué llevar genial!! Absolutamente ningún otro sitio en Fort William está cerca! Comida sabrosa, enorme y muy escasa, el personal era muy servicial. Nada es un problema para satisfacer a gusto de cada uno. Andrea y el resto del personal era completamente lo imposible para ofrecer un servicio inmejorable. Muy bien hecho!

La comida era muy bonita y estaba listo muy rápidamente el único inconveniente es la mujer toma los pedidos con el sentido del humor una amputación - mire, si no estás contento en su trabajo, puñetero y encontrar otro os gusta. Una sonrisa o por lo menos un acogedor solo gruñido estaría bien. Creo que enferma ir a la otra llevar al otro lado de la próxima vez cuadrado. Jaja.

Got two chicken chow meins and they were not what we were expecting. Noodles in a tasteless watery sauce with chicken on top. The sauce was so watery that there was no flavour. I wouldn't go here again....

Can't complain at all. Service is great and good food. Spring rolls the best. I tend to have sweet and sour Cantonese style and my husband beef version if we are really hungry as portion size big.

I've had takeaways from here before, and they've been alright, but tonight I got rice, noodles and a chicken meal, and it's all terrible Just rated poor as it's been fine before, but tonight everything is bad and that's pretty disapo=pointing.

Excellent menu for choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. I have never been disappointed with the food or the service from this takeaway. Portions are good with lots of flavours. I particulary like the Thai dishes. Would highly recommend.

While on holiday in Fort William, we found another good Chinese takeaway in Caol, which is good value for money. The food and service was good with an excellent choice from the menu.

I ended up getting two meals and two sides. I got it deliver across town and it only cost me £15.00. I thought that was amazing because if it was anywhere else you'd be looking at about £20-£25.

Just had a takeaway delivered from The Golden River. Chicken curry swimming in a very greasy, runny sauce. Quality of chicken very poor, didn't taste fresh. Meat not at all tender nor was it white chicken. Chips with meal were like greasy wilted flowers. Absolutely awful. This takeaway just gets worse every time. I won't be using again.

So quick and was ok food better ask for chilli then won't find sum dishes sweet
