Mr Hau in Eastbourne

Excellent food and friendly service. It beats anywhere we’ve been to in Chinatown, London. Not overpriced either! Can’t wait for our next trip to Eastbourne and a visit to Mr Hau’s.

Hi I had dinner with my friend on Thursday evening and after that dinner in 4 hours my friend was sick, vomiting and all weekend he was sick. Within 2 days I also had the same symptoms. Won’t be eating again at your restaurant !

Love this Chinese restaurant . It serves great traditional Chinese food and the chicken and sweetcorn soup is one of the best I have tried . The beef is excellent and the chicken cashew nuts very tasty indeed . The staff are very friendly and polite.

Unfortunately they don't have a zero out of 5. I have ordered from here several times to the same address and today accidentally ordered twice. The delivery driver laughed at me and told me to contact the restaurant who then told me that because it had been cooked twice there was nothing I could do about it!! When I said I was going to write a review he said "go on then" I have NEVER experienced service like this!! Do they not communicate between the front of house and the kitchen? If they do, maybe it's the same attitude they give their customers

A wonderful, cosy beautifully decorated restaurant with excellent service, We opted for a complete menu, which was outstanding, very tasty, beautifully served and we felt well looked after and not rushed.

Popped in here whilst staying in Eastbourne had a very nice meal. The only thing that stopped it getting full marks, was, my wife's chilli beef, she found it very sweet. Otherwise beautiful meal with very friendly and helpful staff.

I arrived after 10.30 pm on Monday night and yet the service was with a smile plus the food excellent and plentiful. Wish I was here at a weekend so I could return with more time. Reasonable prices for the quality.

I was visiting Eastbourne with a friend for the day, and felt it would be good to finish the day on a high, we had planned on going for an Italian, but decided to have Chinese instead! I’m so glad we changed our minds, no only was the food at Mr Hau good, but the service was exceptional.

My wife and dined here on Monday 16/04/2018. We had the set menu comprising of starters, duck with pancakes, main course and dessert. I could not find fault with food. The service was excellent and we were not rushed in any way ( I hate being rushed)At the end of this excellent meal we were given a chocolate and fortune cookie each. Nice touch and rounded off the meal nicely. The next time we stay in Eastbourne we will come back to this excellent restaurant.

We popped in on a late Friday night after the theatre. One of the few places left open after 1030pm in mid April. It keeps going until 1130 which was great - I was all in for a kebab until we saw the lights still on here.Despite arriving late we were made to feel very welcome and even though we were the last to leave we never felt rushed by the very polite and efficient team running.Highlight was the salt and pepper squid. Ask for some sweet chilli sauce or Hoisin sauce tho. It arrives without any. We had mains of Barbecue Pork and Green Beef Curry. Both nice but if visiting again we’d both try something else.Admirable for being open late just when we needed a late meal.

Very disappointing meal. Main meal came out and we hadn’t even had our starter! The rice was dry and unappetising. Peking sauce was like nothing I had eaten before. Don’t bother going to eat in this place.

Even though we had not booked, we were shown to a table quickly, by a friendly waitress. We ordered spring rolls which can be a little fatty, these were lovely and crisp and dry. Our two main courses were both ordered from the "quick bites" section and were large plate fulls. It was very busy but the service was efficient and delivered with a smile. One I will return to on my future visits here.

Very accommodating, couldn’t do enough for us .. service was spot on and the food was very tasty with large portions too . Highly recommend if you’re in Eastbourne!!

We went here on the of chance as we fancied a Chinese, and we was not disappointed. The set menu and a bottle of house red came to just under £65.00.It was a lovely meal with a varity of dishes. They werent the biggest portions but were furfilling once finished. The staff were plesant.There was this lovely relaxed aptomosphere throughout the meal, we were there for around 2 hours a never once felt rushed. Would most definately return again when in Eastbourne.

Enjoyed my first visit to Mr Hau's Oriental Express just of the seafront in Terminus road.Clean and modern look once inside.Service was good and food came promptly when ordered.Good size portions , well presented and very tasty.Will return when in Eastbourne .

Whenever we come to Eastbourne we eat here. A simple little restaurant - nothing posh, but the cooking is absolutely superb and very reasonable in price. It beats far more expensive restaurants for quality and quantity. You can either eat in or order a take-away. Excellent service and very friendly staff. .

Excellent value for money, great lunchtime menu, lovely atmosphere and staff, very clean and modern décor, the food is absolutely amazing, lots of choices and big portions.

Found by chance on arrival in Eastbourne, a great Chinese selection of food. Staff very polite and helpful. We really enjoyed the food but for 2 people with wine we found quiet expensive compared to others we have dined in. Fine dining prices

We ate here on a Monday night, so obviously nowhere was busy. There were a couple of other tables in Mr Haus so we gave it a go.

This was a bizarre experience when ordering a takeaway including duck in plum sauce. Having collected it, once home on opening it was liberally accompanied with chunks of pineapple, which compromised the sauce to the extent that there was little (or actually no) discernible flavour of plum. On querying this with the restaurant on the phone, I was told that it is perfectly normal for this dish to be accompanied with pineapple, despite there being absolutely no reference to that in the description in the takeaway menu. I am baffled, how can this dish be devoid of plum flavour where duck in pineapple was another option on the menu? I don't expect a response from the restaurant of many years standing in town, with a good reputation, but have to say this was a disappointing experience.

My husband and I were delighted to find this gem of a restaurant. We had the set menu and being foodies ourselves could find no fault in any of the dishes, all delicious. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend it. The staff were delightful and friendly. We'll worth the trip from London.

This is my preferred Oriental food restaurant in town.

My daughter and I ate here and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food portions were generous, piping hot and tasty. There was a good selection of desserts to choose from with accompanying pictures and descriptions. The staff were friendly and helpful describing various dishes to us. The price for the meal was very reasonable given the quality of the food. We would definitely go back again if we visit Eastbourne in the future. Jane S

We have been visiting Eastbourne and thought we would try Mr Haus. It was a lovely small restaurant with great service and the food was amazing. We will definitely return :)

7 of us visited here last week,(we have been coming here for many years) but last week the food was exceptional. The meals all came out piping hot, freshly cooked and each with their own individual flavour.We each had something different and commented on how delicious it all was.The service was very good and Mr Hau was there to say hello & goodbye as we were leaving. Apparently he had been busy in the kitchen. Well done Elvis another great meal. See you soon!!!.

Comfortable restaurant and an authentic menu so you can get some of the dishes usually only available in London. Generous portions and all freshly cooked. Attentive serving staff and Mr Hau himself often front of house. Nice touches such as prawn crackers and fortune cookies offered free. Set menus good and sizzling plates fantastic.

Two visits in two weeks to this exceptional restaurant. We've been going to Mr Hau's for many years but this vastly improved restaurant is the best yet. The decor is perfect, service excellent and the food, just delicious!

Average chinese food. Wasn't very tasty. Rice was charged separately for £3 each. In total too expensive. Nevertheless service staff was friendly and polite.

We usually visit Mr Hau 's once a year, This year however restaurant has moved 2 doors down, Easier for getting in no steps to climb, We didn't think the food was just as good as previous years and my main gripe is the plates were stone cold, Which we hate, The Staff were very nice and helpful. Maybe next year things will be back to normal and warm plates,

We ate at this resturant twice when we were on holiday in eastbourne and the staff and service is excellent the young waitress was very helpful when we were choosing our food as we wernt sure what to have and the sizzling beef and onions was lovely and my husband had sizzling fillet off beef which was also very good service was excellent and very quick can highly recommend if you like chinese

What a shame. Don't insult your customers by serving food cooked in old oil that needs changing.

We had an excellent meal here after completing the South Downs hike - tasty food and good value! I was also very impressed that, after I forgot something at the restaurant, Mr Hau kindly arranged to have it posted to my home in London - very good customer care! We will be back during our next visit to Eastbourne:)

This is a nice chinese just off the seafront - the sort of place you could visit in casual dress beachwear etc - not really the place for a big night out but great as a sy=tarting point for your night out

Choose a 2 or 3 course meal from set menu - large servings, great value for money. Variety of dishes to choose from.

We have been visiting Mr Hau's for 6 years, and now they have merged the orientla express with the restaurant they had and completed a 3 month refurb, this place is lovely. Still excellent value and fabulous food. Sizzling prawns with garlic and spring onion is wonderful, as is the rice with mixed meat. For a family of 4 with starters, crispy duck and then main courses it came to £60. Can't grumble at that. Also offer take away

firstly i must say that the restaurant show in photo is the one that has now closed an d MrHau Orient Express further down the road has just had a makeover. it is now just as good as it was a few years ago. express menu dishes absolutely worth £6.80.....food piling hot, freewheels cooked and decent sized portions. Well done Elvis, Mr hau is fab once again.

The restaurant has just undergone a refurbishment with a smart and classy makeover. Mr Hau was not in on the night we visited and his charming daughters were serving. The food is not "haute Chinese cuisine" and so you will recognise the usual favourites on the menu. What separates out this restaurant is the quality of the ingredients and the friendly atmosphere. We splashed out on the top fixed menu at £26 each. Everything was perfect from the fish starters with seaweed, crispy duck and then succulent scallops and fillet steak. It was some of the finest food I had experiences in a Chinese restaurant and we shall be returning.

We visited Mr Hau's last year and had such a good meal that we decided to revisit this year. The food was just as good as our last visit. Really tasty and came up lovely and hot. Service was excellent and good value for money. Would recommend.

This resturant has had a face lift and upgrade. My wife and I visit many Chinese restaurants in both the Uk and around the world. The combination of food quality, decor and sitting arrangement, plus a very happy and willing staff has allowed me to give this rating which I very rarely give.

Mis padres utilizada para ordenar muy regularmente desde aquí. Plato de tofu tenía 2 piezas de tofu! Cuando oírlas, no devuelven su dinero o un nuevo plato. Ninguno de nosotros volveremos. Si estás vegano - ir a China en vez de nuevo mundo.

Señor Hau acogidos por él mismo nos acompañaron de la lluvia a un rincón cálido y extremadamente cómodo en la ventana. Agradecidos por el escape acogedor me complace ver todos los favoritos en el menú, así como los pequeños detalles que importan. Un suministro interminable de té de jazmín precio pronto nos calentábamos y pronto lo suficiente nos comíamos un recién hechas y abundante comida de tres platos de hors d'oeuvres, sopa y el cangrejo más perfectamente cocinado y platos principales de langosta.

Este fue otro increíble visita al Señor Hau, muchas gracias por la fantástica comida, era mi petición para ir como hijas que vive en Londres y fue bajando por su cumpleaños, hemos tenido muchos recuerdos de llevar a nuestros hijos, ya que creció y sigue siendo nuestro restaurante Chino favorito en Eastbourne. La comida es muy colorida y sabrosa que pedir del menú. Comimos pato crujiente y tortitas, sal y pimienta por petición especial de langosta, por favor dar aviso. Carne crujiente de frío, rápido langostinos fritos crujientes de arroz, fideos de huevo frito y arroz. Todo estaba delicioso! ! . Y un botella de vino muy bueno y una sorpresa de cumpleaños velas! desert ! . Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar para un almuerzo o una cena relajada.

Teníamos muchas opciones de donde comer en la zona, pero decidimos probar el Señor Hau, que tenía un menú fabuloso. El conjunto de opciones de menú para dos era estupendo, muy buena relación calidad-precio, comida más que suficiente y muy delicioso. El servicio era fantástico, el personal es muy atento y eficiente. Yo recomendaría aquí si te gusta la comida china

Pedí un llevar que llegó a alrededor de una hora, pero se les olvidó el arroz y cuando llamé para preguntar sobre lo que mintió y dijo que sería enviada de inmediato. Nunca llegó y arruinó lo que hubiera sido una comida agradable de lo contrario.

Fuimos a su noodle bar la última vez que estuve y pareció que era una buena relación, pero estaba cerrado, así que probé con este en su lugar. 3 cursos de 8 libras. 80 MÁS 10% de cargo por servicio, dividida en agua cada donde, las porciones eran pequeñas y no demasiado sabroso. Me encanta la comida china, pero no tienen un buen restaurante chino donde vivimos. Señor Hau fue excelente. Desde el pan de gambas hasta el último plato de carne. Elegimos un menú fijo y no nos decepcionó. No podría poner ninguna pega, desde el servicio de la cocina. Las porciones eran muy grandes. Recomiendo altamente este restaurante.

Food prices are great, you get lots for your money. Food was all really good quality, and their wine prices were very reasonable.

Not been here for a while so thought time to try again. Overall I thought the food was quite bland and nothing special. The toilets need to be upgraded asap. Nothing to draw me back for another visit.

Fuimos al Señor Hau en Viernes, 28 de abril de 2017 para el almuerzo con un amigo. La comida estaba bien de precio de 3 campos por £8 - 80. La comida era bastante agradable, cuando fuimos a pagar él inicialmente corto nos cambió por £10. Tal vez un error, pero el restaurante era más o menos vacío. Es una pena que no vuelva.

Este lugar sirve muy buena comida china cantonesa y Szechuan (estilo) y su eficiente servicio rápido es una maravilla. Cenar y tendrás pan de gambas (en la casa, o digamos Hau? ). Nuestro favorito de orden es su rodajas de pato asado con arroz frito (a veces les sirven como me gusta - crujientes), así como sus fideos crujientes con todo lo demás (como asado de cerdo, pollo, mariscos y verduras). Mmm, por falta de una palabra mejor, y lo mejor de todo, creo que estamos muy razonable. Para llevar, te cobran un suplemento de £0. 50 para los envases de plástico y te dan un fortune cookie en vez de la típica pan de gambas.

Supurb restaurant - I have worked in China for some years and this is the best family style restaurant that I have found in the UK. I visited twice this trip and had their pork dumplings - took me back to Beijing.

Been going here on and off for years, all a bit tired now and needs something to bring up to modern day, food ok typical Chinese nothing special, much better places in Eastbourne, not meaning to be negative but no wow factor, also this place closes pretty quickly on Sundays and if you are the last there you are made to feel that its time to go.

Este maravilloso restaurante chino ha bajado en los últimos dos años. El restaurante estaba lleno, pero sólo 2 el personal de la recepción, así que este inevitablemente afectado por el servicio. No es siempre bueno para recortar personal para ahorrar unas libras. La comida es también no es tan bueno, que es una enorme vergüenza. Mi marido esperamos 1 / 2 una hora para una bebida que nunca parecía y esperamos 15 minutos para pagar. Venga señor trae el Restaurante Hau recuperar el nivel fue cuando su hermano lo dirigía.

I went to MR Hau's for lunch, i had noodles with mixed meats, it was a generous portion and served quickly, prices were reasonable. There is an extensive menu to choose from. Highly recommended.

Pedimos una comida para llevar después de Navidad 2016. Esta fue la peor comida china que he encontrado. Pasamos £32 y tuvimos que tirar más de distancia. We order a regular tofu takeaway which is very nice but the last two weeks the amount of tofu has been non existent - only one piece in the entire dish today We informed the restaurant last week but this week even worse

Acogedor y inmediatamente instalamos. Está en una fila de restaurantes y sin duda elegir el mejor ya que eran parejas, una fiesta de cumpleaños y nosotros. En partiendo ot muy tarde todos los demás restaurantes adyacentes estaban cerrados. La comida era muy buena, como el vino.

Right from being warmly welcomed to leaving the whole experience was a delight.

Gutted that we was treated so badly tonight. We order from here quite a lot and they have made quite a few mistakes that we said never mind, was a one off. Tonight the order was sent out wrong and when we rang them up to correct they sent out a dish that took 1 hour to arrive and then were cheeky enough to ask for the other back as though we were lying! Really disappointed, won't be using again.

We visited today and had the set lunch - I had the chicken satay which was very large plus chicken in black bean sauce and fried rice plus fresh fruit salad- my husband had soup beef curry and banana fritter - plus 2 Chinese beers and bottle of wine plus inclusive service charge £31 which was excellent value. Portion size is very good. Would recommend and visit again if in the area - many thanks !!

Have been to Mr Hau many times over more years than I care to remember. The service is excellent, and the food is just lovely, and has never waiverd in its quality.

Decidimos comer en el Señor Hau, cuando fuimos por primera impresión que necesita una reforma, pero mi marido y yo decidimos poner a un lado. La comida era terrible tanto nuestras comidas eran insípidas y el vino era asqueroso. Tanto yo como mi marido no volvería a comer aquí o recomendar a nuestros amigos y familia. Entonces había un 10% añadido a nuestra cuenta, que estaba en muy pequeño escrito en el menú.

Vine aquí con un amigo en un sábado por la noche una comida. Hicimos una reserva de última hora por teléfono y me sorprendió bastante que no había una mesa disponible para nosotros. Cuando llegamos nos dimos cuenta de que probablemente no se suponía que iba a ser una mesa donde nos sentamos, ya que estábamos justo en la pasarela en el bar, cocina y aseos y estábamos sentados uno al lado del otro, en vez de enfrente, así que había espacio suficiente para que el personal pase. Aceptamos este, ya habíamos hecho una reserva tardía.

I went with friends who had been previously and thought highly of it. I went along with all their recommendations (menu D) and the house white which was crisp and fresh and inexpensive so we consumed a second bottle between the 4 of us.

Recommended, and didn't disappoint. Very pleasant and attentive proprietor and staff. Our group of 4 had set meal for 3, and a few extras. All were splendidly presented and tasty. House wine excellent. Couldn't fault, and more than decent value.
