Buffet Time in Eastbourne

Very nice food and good service, will come back again!

I've not enjoyed Chinese food for several months. This place filled the void with aplomb. Lunch price was just right, the beer was cold, service prompt and friendly, and I waddled out full and happy. Ignore those naysayers, go, and have fun consuming the bountiful offerings.

Food was lovely but both me and my boyfriend felt very ill after and vomited

Went during lunch time. Most food was cold and limited options of sauces to match dishes that were out ( no hoisen sauce for meat pancakes or sweet chili for spring rolls) most sauces they provided were tasteless and thin. Also noticed on the prawns their digestive tracts had not been removed, any meat was of very low qulity. Mainly just icecream or jelly for desserts. I can understand why they get people to pay before they go up for food considering the poor quality of the dishes provided. However, staff were friendly and attentive so 2 stars

Lovely staff, lovely food, Alot of different options depending on what day of the week you go. Went on a Sunday had a feast by myself in a corner then treated myself to a delicious banana cake for dessert. Definitely going back and soon!

It's an excellent restaurant. The food is delicious and the service attitude is very good.

There was a good variety of Chinese dishes, all fresh and tasty. I especially enjoyed the dessert. The food was regularly refilled and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, with a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely a nice place for a casual meal — I’d happily come back again.

Visited Wednesday lunchtime Fairly busy. You have to pay before you eat. Food was uninspiring. Lots of dishes were empty. Meat, even in batter, was tough and dry. Sauces thin and watery. Struggled to find enough to eat. Chicken and sweetcorn soup ok, Bowls v small and spoons weird, made eating messy. Didn’t have dessert. Wine was ok. There’s only one loo downstairs which is disabled toilet. Two people tried door whilst i was using.goodness knows what happens in busier times. Such a shame, visited Eastbourne to come here. Very disappointed. Went to Wetherspoons after for drinks. Wished we had eaten there instead.

The staffs are well behaved, we are been treated with respect and dignity, The manager is also ready to help and I could see that he supports the staffs Always smiling.we are always happy here as I have been coming here for long.

First time I’ve visited here and it was great! Staff were very friendly and efficient. There is of course far more choice for those who prefer to eat the flesh of dead animals, however as a vegetation I manage to fill three plates with delicious dishes. As for desserts, two plates in and I just couldn’t manage another! Plenty of choice, and lots of small portions so you can try everything, including the chocolate fountain. Will certainly be visiting again, as for £20 it was an absolute bargain!

The missus enjoyed what she had, but as a vegetarian my options were extremely limited. With so many alternative places to choose from, we won't be going back.

Doing hight for pices…not paying full price for my tall 12 year old to eat chicken nuggets and chips aka happy meal…try making allowance for people with autism and disability’s who can’t eat much

Food was ok. Only thing I don't believe in is why a child has to be measured to be classed as a child. If a child is over a certain hight then you have to pay for an adult which is so unfair as children come in all different heights.

It was ok, unfortunately the food was only warm.

Avoid!!!.food not good and has caused a terrible tummy upset and being violently sick for my partner.have looked at recent feed back from last 9 months and lots of reviews say the same thing.will definitely not return..i think the restaurant needs a visit from environmental health.disgusting.did notice hygiene levels very low such as food still stuck on clean cutlery and plates.we should have walked out but by the time you notice you have already paid.

Me and my partner do like a Chinese buffet. But avoid this place! We arrived around 8pm. Drinks were served quickly. And then told to help ourselves to the buffet. I'm not sure about the meat they used in the dishes. But it didn't taste great. The noodles were about the only thing that actually tasted semi ok. The dessert.... Frozen gatuex well, defrosted in the tall glass fridge. Then they were packing away and put said defrosted desserts back in the freezer. This is not ok! No wonder i have a bad stomach today. Not a good place. And won't be returning.

We are not visiting this restaurant again. To be honest, the food is not bad, we enjoyed the prawn and the desert. The only problem is the boss lady who is extremely rude. We are not even finished our meal, she asked us to move to other table or leave. Can't believe that. The service is absolutely abysmal. Just sat down 5 minutes, the bill is showing in front of your face with tips. We are not even receiving any service. She is asking for tips. We do want to try the karaoke and have more fun. Because of that lady, we decided to go to other places to enjoy mother's day.

I went here specifically for Karaoke, the staff were really friendly and it was great with friends. It would be good at the end to get more notice as we were enjoying ourselves so much it was so sad to end so abruptly I think it would work well to be told to staff by to allow for an encore one more song otherwise fabulous

Good food, not if you're a vegetarian though.

We decided to try this restaurant while on a break in Eastbourne and we werent disappointed. The staff were welcoming and efficient and the food was delicious. The price was reasonable and i totally understand why you pay upfront and do not have an issue with it.

As per another diner who reviewed, first time ever to pay for restaurant food in advance. Should have walked at that point. Asked for a glass of cordial, £4.50! When I said it seemed a lot the guy said "we don't make any money on food so have to make on drinks". I would be wary, very mediocre msg food for a non mediocre price when you factor in a soft drink costing 5p but sold for £5. Not good.

Usually the food here is relatively good , however the food this evening was tasteless and cold . The food had obviously been sitting under hot lamps for a long time the noodles were hard and tasteless . I was very Disappointed this evening apart from not eating a full meal I certainly didn't get my money"s worth and neither did my family , we walked away not satisfied. What a shame .

I love the food it's so good, by far my favourite restaurant nothing can beat it, cute little fish pond and loads of variety of foods, very clean place x

Horrible food. Cold tasteless choices. Chicken like rubber. Pork was full of gristle and very chewy. Tables were dirty. Avoid.

My first time, though my family have been there lots, I was quite impressed, helpful staff, and lots of great dishes. My only complaint was they didn't refill the empty dishes very fast. So missed out on some of the dishes, like prawns, and some of the dessert dishes.

Second time I've been in the last few months, should have learnt from The first time. Alright if all you want is cold chicken and watered down drinks, after the first mouthful I knew something wasn't right. Went straight home and was ill. Emptying my old radiator under pressure would have looked better. Probably would have been more pleasant if I drank the rusty water. When you can't trust a fart minutes after eating the food you know its not good. And meat balls that contain fish... Labelled in correctly. I won't attached the photo. I want to forget it like a bad ex.

One of the worst Chinese buffets I’ve ever had buffet time has always been a good experience but this time it was really bad poor choices lack of taste overpriced food, cold and questionable if it was correct temperature

Went out on a works do last Saturday. There were 13 people in the group. Having eaten there once before my expectations were not high. However, I must say it was appalling. I arrived slightly earlier than the main party. Table was booked for 19.30. I arrived at 19.10 thinking I could get a drink at the bar. I was destined to be disappointed as I was told in no uncertain terms to come back at 19.30. Once half the party arrived we were then kept waiting a further 30minutes before I had to ask if our party could be seated. The actual food it's self was mainly indescribable. You could taste the sunflower oil. I think most of it is frozen and reheated. The only interaction from staff was to take our money prior to us eating. Presumably in order to stop people from walking out. I don't usually bother posting but it honestly probably was one of the worst culinary experiences of my life and I'm knocking on in age. There's far better out there. To summarise unfriendly staff,poor food and dire customer service.

It seems to me that the staff deliberately keep the temperature at an uncomfortable level to get out as quickly as possible. I have been there before and I get the impression that the staff were also more friendly

Always an amazing experience. Food is tasty and varied. Dessert in addition to the main meals is an advantage. Lovely staff.

A great place for a Chinese buffet with lots of different dishes available and a variety of desert dishes alongside these options. Staff were ok but could be a bit more welcoming.

10 of us went this evening, staff were nice, food was good , nice selection of mains and dessert. You do pay before you eat so as long as you’re aware then it’s not a problem. I do think the £18.99 and £9.50 for children was a bit pricey though.

Well, what to say...as a seasoned chinese buffet person, and Won Kai veteran I love my Chinese food. This was the 2nd time I've been and the first time I thought, give it another go...I did and regretted it. The food is standard and what you would expect variety wise. But the food was cold to warm and certain items where you need to know they've been cooked properly weren't. Like many some won't complain and eat themselves to the value, but this was too much. I sat contemplating whether or not to walk out, and seeing other people saying the same. I raised my complaint but got a shrug...cold food cold service. It has put me off buffets outside of Chinatown. But the best critics are ourselves...try it yourself, you maybe lucky.

Somewhat reasonable variety of food but some dishes didn't seem quite cooked, chicken satay and noodles tasted like washing up liquid and cake at dessert station was a bit broken up, staff were rude and commenting on me and other people, restaurant is not too bad overall though. *UPDATE* been to this place since though and it was not so bad at all, staff were better, and food made more freshly etc but when run out of something, you have to most of the time ask them to change/replace it

The prices stays the same but they cut half of the buffet. Not much to choose from. I'd rather pay more but have bigger choice and better food

Always a winner! Visited on numerous occasions at lunchtime with colleagues and friends. Never disappointed. Eat as much as you like - such a varied menu and choice. Be aware that payment is made upfront and it's self-service.

Was completely put off right from the start as I have never ever anywhere in the world been asked to pay up front in any restaurants. Was so shocked. There was no customer service after you paid.

The buffet offers a good range of dishes spread across to serveries,perhaps 20-30 main dishes, both hot and cold with vegetables and rice/noodles and sauces. A small but delicious range of sweets are also available. Booking isn't necessary, although the restaurant is busy at the weekend. The price varies according to the day and the range id foods available, £12.99 weekdays, £14.99 Saturdays and £19.99 on Sunday; drinks are good value but extra. There are cheaper child's portions available. I suggest you book parking as the local parking is full of resident's cars, you can ofcourse park free in Residents bays and on single yellow lines. The Oriental bar upstairs offers music perhaps even live music although it was closed at lunchtime on Sunday, probably operates in the evening. I would visit again.

It was ok But the soy source bottle was SO AWKWARD TO use its like a soap bottle and you can only get it on the edges of your plate because you can only fit it there apart from that it was ok

It's OK but not anything great. As a Chinese, the food was unremarkable, not bad but definitely nowhere near other restaurants in Eastbourne. The service was ok, nothing crazy tho. Atmosphere is eh, feels a bit westernized if that makes sense. I mean it was on but for £20 I'd rather go to yummy Noodle Bar and order two noodles.

Throughout our time there, we weren’t checked on once - not to ask how everything is or if we wanted more drinks. None of us will return.

In over 50yrs of visiting restaurants in the uk, this was the very first time that I've been asked to pay for a meal 'upfront!' I could not believe it when the waitress asked for payment upfront! I queried it and she said that's the rule of the House. I would have walked out, there and then, but I was with a group of 5 other friends, who seemed to take it okay? I'm sorry, but I approach the elephant in the room and I talk about it. None of my friends do though? 🤔 They were quite happy to pay upfront and so, reluctantly for me, we stayed. Having said all that, the food was very nice and reasonably priced. However, I will not be returning to it!

Pre booked a table for 7pm om Saturday 12 October 2024, arrived slightly early and was shown to our table at the rear of the restaurant up two steps. I am presently suffering from a mobility problem and need a walking stick to move around and found these two steps somewhat of a problem trying to move to and from the buffet while trying to carry a plate. This was noticed by a member of staff who not only moved us to a table nearer the buffet but also retrieved our coats and drinks and moved them to our new table for us. This made our evening even more enjoyable. The standard of the food and the customer care was nothing short of outstanding. Thank you so much.

Went in alone for lunch and picked a table but the waiter insisted on seating me in dark corner despite the place not being full. Rude and pathetic attitude by the waiter.

Awful food. No taste to any of it. Refillable drinks are disgusting. The orange squash burned to drink and I have no doubt that the Pepsi is fake. Never coming back.

Quite a nasty time to be honest. Partner ordered a 'vegetable stir-fry' which turned out to be a mushy broccoli and spring onion soup. Came out grey and sad. Chicken balls tasted more like fish balls 🐟 Didn't really find a dish I liked to be honest. Everything was kind of sad - staff looked like they would rather be anywhere else other than taking plates away (understandable). Mango juice was okay, I guess? Oh also, they add a mandatory 'service charge' of 10% at the end of your meal. Nice to know 🙂👍

As we entered, we were waiting at the door and was ignored twice by a lady walking by then the man at the bar just pointed at a table across the restaurant and walked away. We sat down and was waiting for waiter/waitress for 15 mins, they didn’t even say 1 word to us . We didn’t get to order drinks or food it was so awkward sitting there with staff walking around us ignoring us , we needed up leaving and getting a McDonald’s instead… the staff were friendlier! Wouldn’t recommend, can’t even comment on food as we didn’t get to taste it .

The food varies meat dishes tend to be overcooked and meat is dry.There is a good selection of food but quality again varies.

Floors were dirty and had food all over it, food was stone cold! Customer service was horrific, all standing around drinking loads of drinks and talking while the place was a complete mess, Food ended up making both me and my partner sick! Price was not worth it at all, went 6 months ago and paid £12.99 for the buffet and this time paid £19.99 with hardly any selection of food and an unhygienic environment😤

I never have written a bad review but I would never set foot in this place again! I have been before and the price was £12.99 per person but the price is now £19.99 which I thought was odd as there was no difference to the food selection or anything else. As soon as I walked in I was stepping in food and the floor below my table was disgusting! The food was like something from antartica, FREEZING COLD! Majority of the food wasn’t restocked so there’s barely a selection at all. The staff watched you as you ate and were shaking their heads at people filling up their plates. All Staff were gathered around the bar with a selection of their drinks and eating them whilst tables needed cleaning and the floors. Chefs were sat at a table munching away whilst there was plenty of food needing restocking. My chicken was squidgy and pink and looked like they’d got a chicken, cut it and put it straight in the plate. I have never been so ill after eating a meal at a restaurant. I felt rushed from the moment I set foot in the door. They didn’t ask if we had any allergens and had already asked what drinks we wanted before being seated at a table. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

Ideal for a buffet. Foid was good as was the service. I would recommend going earlier than 5pm as its on the crossover between lunchtime and evening sessions. You do pay up front.

I rarely give 1-star ratings, but this place truly earned it. We were a party of five and asked to split our tables, but the staff insisted we squeeze into a table for four. While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was far from it. The dining area was unclean, with flies buzzing around, and the food wasn’t replenished. To make matters worse, dirty dishes piled up on our table until we finally had to ask for them to be cleared. Very disappointing

Tasty food and sushi presented in the loveliest bag and containers. Just a pity the avocado in the sushi was quite hard. Will definitely be ordering again.

Half of the food was not available, we waited 45 minutes and nothing was added... Every dish has practically the same taste, very fatty, old oil... Very expensive for such quality

Treated my little sister like a criminal because they thought she was 150cm and they wanted to make £6.50 extra: Measuring her once was acceptable but the girl waitress lied and the manager came over and insisted that my sister LEAVE the dinner table to be measured again even though she was 3 cms smaller that they need. We even took a photo to show how under she was. Rude staff, food was basic, pizza was disgusting, rubbish deserts. Never ever going again.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and despite it being quiet at 1st the food was constantly being kept topped up and was hot (where applicable) and fresh. Hot and sour soup was lovely despite a heatwave outside!!

Service wasn’t to bad.Food is fresh & delicious.But I think to ask you to pay before you eat is wrong especially as it was £50 & you don’t know what your gonna eat or how much plus there was no service charge.Plus if you don’t eat it all they charge you for what you leave on the plate.

£20 to eat as much as you want is a steal! Good quality food and plenty of food choices. I'm impressed they offer desserts which is unusual for a self service chinese buffet restaurant.

Neither here nor there. Do NOT go at the end of the day. Nothing left cold and dry. Go around 5 pm when everything is fresh and then the food is very nice. Not a huge selection but enough for the cost.

Been here 3 years running with group of 6 friends & yesterday was the last time! Food ie prawns or higher end items not replenished only cheaper gristle covered ribs & naff sweet & sour chicken! Simply not good enough! We'll find somewhere else next year.

We came from Brighton to visit Eastbourne for first time we have been in this Chinese Buffet Time and we were very happy with place very clean , staff friendly, kind , smiling, helpful and all food was amazing fresh , taste was delicious and in price was reasonable and in general whole restaurant and service and bathroom clean tidy and very good organised.

This is one of the best buffets I have been too in the UK. Very friendly and helpful staff, we are vegetarian and they really helped us select the best dishes for us. Very clean restaurant, clean toilets 🚻 11/10

Prepayment. The rice is hard and tasteless for sushi-like food, but the Chinese food is generally good. A bit pricey if you visit for dinner, but lunch might be better.

Maybe it's because we came late, but the food was quite selected and they didn't refill it for us. They have a lot to choose from but it tastes more or less the same. There is no fuel sauce available. Sushi was only with vegetables, no option with salmon or shrimp. Great that you can have a bottomless cup with water.
