Mr Chong in Cheshire East

Ordered quarter crispy duck and Singapore vermicelli £26/27 quid ... The duck and the vermicelli were very small portions we usually order exactly the same from yo yo in whaley bridge and from there the portion sizes are how there supposed to be and the duck was paggered, been to chongs for a meal before it was ok no complaints but this time for a takeaway....pffft bobbins...not happy.....don't suppose I'll hear anything back from this review...?

Top quality food and service from start to finish

Heard so much about this place we thought that the 9 of us would try it for a Family members Birthday meal . We where originally allocated a table in the front window which was great if not a little crowded, but because 2 people didnt turn up we where asked to swap tables to a circular table at the back of the restaurant. if space was a little limited before it was even more scarce after the move. This in turn spoilt the meal a little for me - There was no room for all the dishes, plates, glasses etc on the table therefore there was a constant stream of the waiting on staff coming and going from the table removing things and then bringing things back - this sounds great service but it was poor service because all the time the staff where reaching over you and reaching in front of you when you were eating this happened all through the meal which was very poor add to that the tight constraints around areas of the table for the waiting staff made things a little chaotic at times to say the least. To cap it all - At the end of the meal they even began to clear the table before everyone had finished which again is very poor service. This is the reason why i chose not to pay the 10% service charge added onto the bill at the end, Onto the food - The food was good everyone in the party enjoyed it Portion sizes where good , and the value for money was ok, a little expensive on certain dishes but it was ok and what was expected of the area so no qualms at all regarding the price/ quality of the food. Unfortunately i personally would not attend this place again as it didnt live up to the expectations mainly because of the poor service by a majority of the younger staff and the cramped conditions around on the table.

The duck was spectacular and the beef was amazing I’m speechless every thing was amazing I never really liked any other part of the chicken but the chicken breast so I tried chicken wings and having it be my first time trying them I really liked them I give the restaurant 5stars.

We recently visited Mr Chong’s and discovered our new favourite Chinese restaurant. The food and service were fantastic the staff just couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend

This restaurant was highly recommended by locals, however, I have to admit that I was a little disappointed and we'd never return. We waited for quite a while for drinks service and to place our orders, they seemed to want to serve larger groups first, who arrived after us. The staff were lovely, friendly and really professional, but Mr Chong himself seemed stressed, inpatient and grumpy! To start I had Satay Chicken Skewers. The consistency of the chicken was sinewy and stringy, it was very unpleasant. I struggled to eat them, they were quite revolting. For main I had the Salt & Pepper Chicken, which was literally a plate full of rock hard, crunchy, dry coatings, I couldn't quite find any succulent chicken anywhere? Expensive, especially the soft drinks. The food was poor. Atmosphere was nice but I would not recommend.

I love the fried rice dishes from here. I tried the Malaysian style chicken fried last time and loved it. I've only had a takeaway from here and never had any problems.

Great food excellent service, after repeated visits to Mr Chongs, I have never been disappointed every time the food and service are perfect, fully recommend a visit. Fabulous!!!!

Best Chinese food in the area. Love this place. Whenever friends or family come over the first thing they ask is have you booked Mr Chongs. All the food is amazing and the staff are all great. Throughly recommend the salt and pepper ribs or the mixed spring Hors D'oeuvres for starters. For mains if you like something with a bit of a kick - the mixed seafood with Malaysian chilli and garlic sauce is awesome and so is the Kung Po Duck - very generous with the amount of seafood and duck respectively. The sizzling fillet steak is also amazing. Mmmm now I want to go back

We came here in November when I was 9 months pregnant and it was a celebration for mine and my brothers birthday. We were a party of 6. We were told we would have the table for 2 hours. The food was good but expensive and we were very unhappy that we were rushed through the entire meal. The people who were taking the table after us arrived early and although we all still had nearly full drinks and people were still picking at food and still had the table for another 30 minutes, the bill was put down in front of us (without us asking) and coats were brought out to us (without us asking) it was incredibly rude and we felt pushed out. It was really uncomfortable. I appreciate that they need to get the table ready but the other party arrived 30 minutes early and we were told we had it for 2 hours. It was terrible service. Definitely won't be returning.

i have just read the review from Patricia P. And 100% relate to her experience. Her ‘timer on the table comment’ is spot on. We were a party of 4 and booked in for dinner on Saturday 13th Jan. At 5.30pm. The food was ok except we had to send a chicken starter back as it was under cooked. The whole experience was rushed and uncomfortable. Our bill also arrived without being requested, we were had been there less than 1.5 hrs. We ordered another drink which was begrudgingly served and then very rudely they brought our coats and put them on the back of our chairs - what is that about!!!! We felt we were bundled out and when outside we couldn’t believe what had just happened. Our bill was £210 for 4 with the service charge, which was not deserved but paid. 2 hr slots are ridiculous unless informed at time of booking, we certainly wouldn’t have booked if we had known. Think Mr Chong needs to work on his customer service. We will not be going again!

Attended this restaurant tonight for a birthday meal. There were 11 of us and the bill as almost £500. Service was dreadfully rude, they may aswell have put a bloody a timer on the table. Apparently there was 2 hour eating slot as it was a weekend However they failed to tell us this at booking, Whilst eating they were clearing plates and wiping tables. Bill provided befOre we we asked and still eating meals. Not until we complained did they offer us the opportunity to eat some of the birthday we brought in. Rude rude rude ….. might I suggest notifying bookers of their time limit to eat??? A rushed and impolite experience. Shan’t be returning and would NOT recommend. Swerve people, get a takeaway!!!

We arrived with a queue in front oh no, but it was a big party awaiting more once I asked a waiter table for two for us we were immediately took to our table and the service didn’t stop all night our Waiter was superb he didn’t let me touch our wine he was there always to pour, even one handed as carrying menus as it was busy the food and atmosphere was great but I have to say the service was the best I’ve had in a long time faultless our visit was 6.1.24 8pm for 2

Great restaurant, wonderful service and lots of delicious food to choose from. hands down the best restaurant in Disley, if youre in the area check this place out. Only things is the chef is a G but is underpaid :(

Two wonderful starters, soft shell crab 🦀 and hot and sour soup 🍲. Then onto mixed seafood with udon noodles and xo sauce, house special chow mein, both delicious 😋, all washed down with a lovely bottle of picpoul de pinet. One lovely dessert of salted caramel pot to finish. Would like to see gui ling gao on the dessert menu!

We arrived at Mr Chong restaurant to meet friends. We have eaten here before and always look forward to returning whenever we are this way. Although the staff were very busy, we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table. The food was amazing. My son described it as like ‘eating like a celebrity.’ Nothing was too much trouble and we had a selection of foods to try. I cannot fault anything, every dish was delicious. Thank you to Mr Chong and his very courteous and friendly team. Look forward to returning.

Once again chose our favourite Chinese restaurant, this time for our New Years Eve celebrations - wow! we were not disappointed. The food was amazing, the staff are so attentive, and the atmosphere was purely party! Live music all night - it closed at 1pm , party hats, balloons, streamers , you name it, we had it. At 12o'clock we all got a glass of prosecco and shot after shot of Sambuca , it was amazing! Definitely worth a visit xx

Ordered a take away- decided to collect personally Of all the food we ordered the only thing which tasted ok was the seaweed but some of the cabbage strips where over half inch wide - not ctispy. Ribs and chicken very tough and tastless - dumplings like playdoh - hot and sour soup really weird taste so didn't risk it,

The food was excellent and catered for our gluten free party members with no hassle or stress!! Staff were lovely! Especially Joseph! Great night out! Would definitely recommend to everyone including vegans, gluten free etc xxx thanks for a lovely night xx

Had a meal for 10 for my birthday, the food was fantastic along with the service, probably one of the nicest Chinese restaurants i have visited, the restaurant is extremely clean and the food extremely fresh and of a high quality.

We have tried a few restaurants over the years but mr Chongs is the only one we go to now, food is amazing and always fresh and piping hot, the service is second to none , staff are friendly and professional and always happy to help , I would highly recommend mr chongs , I tell everyone about this amazing place 😊

Excellent food selection and food quality with great service. Had not booked but they found us a table and we were served quickly, which was excellent. Great find to break our journey from Manchester to Sheffield and will certainly make it a preferred stop off.

Nicest food we’ve had in a long time , the chicken is especially nice Lovely staff and they kindly brought a cake out with candle for my daughters birthday without being asked It’s also perfect if you are gluten free as most things on the menu are potatoe flour and not wheat One of our top favourite restaurants now

Generally tasty food and excellent service, but the food was a little too salty. There were Chinese mushrooms and prettily carved carrots, but there were no otherChinese vegetables. There were no bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, or water chestnuts. Fewer onions and a few of these mixed in with the meat dishes would have been good.

Absolutely lovely meal as always

Friday night is not the right night for a relaxed meal with friends. Several groups for birthday parties, with “happy birthday” played on tinny sound system. Food o.k. but not special, and very salty.. Menu now offers any meat with any sauce - sweet & sour beef anyone? And after the the mains, we weren’t offered any dessert or coffees, just told us they needed the table for the next booking. Will NOT be going back

Food was amazing and very tasty. Staff amazing as wr late due to accident and my husband is a celiac and they catered for him with a good choice of food and the staff had great knowledge of his needs.

We went to Mr Chongs restaurant on Wednesday night to celebrate Chinese New year. This restaurant never let's us down, we had a fabulous evening, magician going round to all tables showing very good magic, food was as always fantastic 4 course special menu ( yummy). Everyone ( clients and staff) very good company . Love this restaurant.

Had high hopes based on good reviews. But sadly it was an unpleasant experience. Service was good, but that is where it ends. I specifically asked about non MSG food as I am vey sensitive to it. I am now back home with the tell tale headache and upset stomach. There was MSG in some of my food. The food was not good, dull and one dimensional. Chicken was tasteless and slightly spongy, yuck. A charge of £7.50 for jasmine tea was taking the mick.

My hubby and I visited Mr Chongs tonight after seeing the reviews on here and what a great decision it was The service is outstanding, personal and professional without being over bearing, just perfect The food...well what can I say, we went for the set meal so we could try a bit of everything and it didn't disappoint, cooked fresh, very tasty and piping hot. Every dish from the starter to the duck and the main courses was beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone and we will definitely be going back, well done to everyone at Mr Chong8s, top class

Never again will I order from here. Had to wait 2hrs for delivery. If your going to deliver with in an hour then do so. As for the food. I've had better, Much better. Very disappointed.

Honestly one of the best Chinese I’ve ever had ! absolutely amazing :)

Was about to have a surgical procedure where I would have to isolate for ten days, so as a treat we went to Mr Chongs. Food was absolutely wonderful, flavour, texture and quality. With a set meal for 2 and a couple of drinks each we did spend nearly £70 (I regretted spending so much at first but I found myself so glad we went as the anaesthetic took hold!). It was also quite busy on a Wednesday evening which shows you how popular it is.

We have just had a weekend away and found Mr Chong was near to where we were staying …we booked a table …a nice warm welcome when we arrived from the friendly and very attentive staff We opted for a set menu for two so much food ! It was all delicious and piping hot great value for money approx £60 with drinks …excellent !

Visited Mr Chong tonight for the first time and had high expectations after reading previous reviews. Our expectations were not only met, they were far exceeded! ALL the staff, but Ian in particular were just lovely, and the service overall was fantastic. The food- wow! Every starter and main were delicious, all were served piping hot & fresh, and just so tasty. We were here to celebrate a birthday, and the staff made such an effort, even bringing out a gorgeous cake and hanging decorations. We were honestly blown away by the whole experience at Mr Chong, we will 100% be returning. Thanks Ian, and all the team.

Best restaurant in the land. Never found anywhere that packs so much flavour into food. Even the chicken and noodle soup sings with flavour. The chicken wings are absolutely sensational. If you haven't been here, you haven't lived 😋

Went here last week with my girlfriend after being recommend by our AirBnb host to come here. We were not disappointed. Tasty food and impeccable service from all staff at Mr Chong's. They really went above and beyond to make sure we were served well and in a timely fashion. Very glad we had dinner here. Fantastic.
