Tasty food, although an item of the order was found to be missing by the time we got home. This wouldn't stop me from placing future orders, though, as the quality was good.

Well worth the visit if local or on holiday..value for money and friendly family staff... Orders taken over phone and all foods freshly cooked to order.. great for kids too.. even the wrinklies are well catered too..

Came here for lunch following reviews and ordered 3 large cod and regular chips. Ibrahim served us and was very generous with the chips! The fish was absolutely delicious! Fresh, flaky, soft cod and with a crispy mouthwatering batter. The kids loved it too which was a bonus. Very friendly service and would highly recommend if you're around Lowestoft. Much better than the Little Fish & Chip Shop in Southwold in our opinion!

Mr chips is one of the best chippy in lowestoft. Nothing wrong with there food whatsoever but going to the chippy to find it close is a bit disappointing we miss the lunchtime trade why is Mr chips closed

We have always had amazing kebabs from here . Chicken is always cooked perfectly , moist never dry. Would highly recommend. Place the order by phone as they’re always busy, you will get a time slot . Great service

First time we used this shop fish n chips was very nice and massive portions

The service is absolutely Awful, Appalling & the so called manager refusing to accept responsibility for an incorrect order expecting my family to eat cold food and go an collect missing items from the order, so not only were we paying for food we hadn't received but were being expected to spend more money in fuel to correct there mistake, my daughter also said that the wedges tasted like over cooked frozen roast potatoes it would be interesting to find out where there health & hygiene ratings come from.... cold reheated food being sent out, so £55+ and no food as it had to be binned. Totally UNACCEPTABLE 😡😡😡😡

Horrible fried food...I don't know what they fry in, but it leaves a chemical aftertaste. Non-brewed condiment served instead of genuine vinagre. I'll be travelling a bit further for fish and chips in future. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS REPLY: My review was totally honest and unbiased, as I do not work in the food industry and have nothing to gain. I have left 5 star reviews for places that I felt have deserved it. You may not put NBC in wrongly labelled bottles, but Every time someone is served at Mr Chips, the counter staff ask if the customer wants vinagre. They do not ask if they would like non brewed condiment. which is misrepresentation and could be perceived as a breach of trading standards if we are being pedantic. I did not say anything about the cleanliness of your premises or that the oil you use is dirty. If my review was based purely on hygiene standards, it would have been 5 stars. I said that the oil left a chemical aftertaste. The best selling oils to the takeaway industry are extended life vegetable oils. The life of the oil is extended through chemical treatment, which means that I find 95% of takeaway fried products unpalatable due to the aftertaste and feeling of nausea that it leaves. Yours is among those. In addition to the taste issues, some countries have banned its use due to potential health problems (increased risk of heart disease, cancers etc). I will decline the offer of trying your food again, as you will no doubt be continuing to use the same products and you have also suggested that my review was biased and dishonest!!! Anybody that doubts my word should try eating the food without any condiments which partially mask the taste!

My partner and I visited Mr chips with the intention of having fish & chips but on arriving we both decided to order kebabs. It was only just after 5pm but it was very busy. We ordered our food. Lovely friendly service. All the food looked so fresh. Everything laid out behind the glass counter and beautifully presented. No horrible smell of dirty oil here. We waited outside as a steady flow of customers of all ages ordered food. We were called into collect our order. Great value. On arriving home we were very impressed with the portion of doner meat. Chicken and lamb. The salad garnish was lovely and fresh. The chilli sauce most definitely tickled your taste buds. Really enjoyed our kebabs. Will definitely be returning. Very highly recommended. Thank you.

The best (in-house made) doner meat for miles. Hands down! We drive from beccles for their decent kebab. And they actually bother to put the meat IN the pitta.

Lovely food very consistent, if you get delivery tip the driver with cash as i spoke to one who said the owners use uber/deliveroo but have independant drivers who dont get a share in the tips

The chicken kebab was good. The chips were good. My grilled lamb was inedible. Whoever prepared it must have known. Whoever cooked it should have know. 4 stars based on chicken 0 stars based on the lamb.

Decided to try this place after reading some very good reviews. The chips were amazing, some of the best I’ve tasted and good portion however I think the cod bites could be improved a little. I chose them as I read the fish portions were large but I think they could do with reducing the amount you get and increasing the size of bites so you get more fish. Not being from around this area, I thought the ordering process was a little confusing so ended up phoning up and collecting. It was very cramped and busy in the little shop and became quite uncomfortable. Would definitely go there again but maybe order something different.

Not only do they serve excellent fish & chips, they also give fantastic service. Found myself stranded in Lowestoft and the staff showed true kindness in helping me. May never get back there again but Mr Chips were great ambassadors for Lowestoft. FYI: their local customers are hilarious.

This chippy was a surprise as by chance I discovered it is selling HALAL food which was good for value. The staff were so kind and very friendly. I strongly recommend this shop and suggest to the owner to add HALAL word so people can find this when searching.

First class family-owned fish and chip take away, kebabs and burgers to salivate over. Fish has crispy batter, no gunge , just crackle batter, took my sister and brother in law from Loddon in Suffolk, had large haddock and chips for four. The perfectly fried batter was co crispy and the skinless boneless haddock cooked to perfection, chips were dry and crisp. This hard-working Turkish family deserve all the credit they earn, they cook good wholesome food very well, and I look forward to travelling there from Beccles,and eating our fish and chips on the Pakefield Cliffs

We always have takeaway night on friday or Saturday and always from mr chips...the best in town. We were so relieved to get our takeaway nights back when they re-opened. It's a bit different in that you need to pre order then collect in line with social distancing restrictions. The food is as good as ever and whether its fish (superb) kebabs (great) pies, sausages or whatever you wont be disappointed. Everyone there so friendly and accommodating. All our family and friends are now regulars having tried it. Keep it up folks you making lockdown a bit easier.

Value and quality for your money

Whenever i visit family I always squeeze in a fish and chip meal as you cannot beat the Lowestoft and surrounding places for fresh fish and chips. The fish was beautifully cooked with really light batter and the chips divine.

Lamb Shish kebabs or Cod and Chips are our regular choices when we are hungry and too busy at work to cook at home. The food is always freshly cooked...reasonably priced and consistently good every time. We are more than happy with our local chippy!

Mr Chips is an excellent eating establishment run with fine family traditions where we have been regular Saturday night visitors for over 15 years , the staff , 95 % family , are always cheerful and the Fish and Chips are excellent along with a very extensive supporting menu of the popular take away favourites , there is plenty of free parking out side and stays open until 2200 and sometimes , if busy longer , highly recommended

Picked up chicken kebabs from here tonight for the first time. Phoned up and collected 15 min later. Chicken cooked and seasoned perfectly and salad and chips were great too. Will definitely be my go to place for takeaway nights in the future. Super friendly staff too. Great work 👍🏻

Got some fish and chips early Saturday evening in June to eat on the nearby seafront. Not the cheapest but quality and portions were good and the wait was ok considering the place was bustling and the fish was cooked to order.

Food was cooked to order and was delicious. I read somewhere that it is traditional British fish and chips. This is not the case: the batter was not bubbly, crispy that I'd expect for such a place. However, it was well cooked and tasty, so I would not object to returning, especially since the service was helpful, lovely and with a smile

Beautiful kebab feast. If you've got the cash. We tried them out to see how they compared. Flavour was amazing. There are a couple of other local 5 star kebab shops where I will continue to go for my kebab feasts because you get more for your money.

Recently paid a visit to Mr Chips, can confirm they are the best I have tasted in Lowestoft after living in the town for 55 years. Why do I rate them, from pre booking on the phone service good as they give you an order number for ease which you just quote on arrival at the shop, within a few minutes your order is ready.Taste is fresh with no grease what so ever,the paper they are wrapped in shows not a sign of grease down to the good quality oil they cook in.They do not skimp on the portions unlike others in the town whic is why i shall visit in the future.The menu is very goog with other fast foods-kebabs etc to choose from. If you are in town and fancy top fish & chips pay them a visit,worth travelling a bit further for.
