Mr Chips in Breckland

Beautifully cooked chips. COD bites crop and fresh as the rest of order. Only slight thing is although tasted ok the pie was smaller, thin pastry and not the quality taste I was expecting. But everything thing else was very tasty and will keep using them, just not the pies unless they change their supplier. Still 5/5 stars.

We went last night during the Christmas lights switch on and the place was packed. We expected a long wait and rushed food but we were wrong! The cod was delicious and chips perfect, and the wait was only about ten minutes. Very impressed, they kept their cool under immense pressure and I think everyone left happy 😃.

Absolutely awful. Hardly warm, had to be reheated, dry, paper thin fish in overcooked, greasy batter, dry tasteless chips. All round horrible. I don't like being expected to say how much I will tip the delivery person as I place the online order, never had to do that before and maybe I got the stuff they were going to chuck out because I didn't say I would tip the delivery person. Maybe pay them a decent wage then they won't have to rely on tips. I do have one tip for you though, learn how to cook fish and chips properly. I will never use you again.

We’ve found these to be the best chips in town! The fish is always soft and flaky with lovely crispy batter. We enjoy the burgers too and are always happy that the delivery is on time, if not early. We have once had an issue with delivery (not the restaurant’s fault) and they handled it very well. Will always recommend

Awesome fish & chips. Never heard of this shop before but the reviews swayed me from Atlantis. Super quick delivery, & their batter is amazing. Super golden & crispy. Great portions too. Will defo use them again.

Don’t get me wrong the food is lovely but just lately they have not been very good with the chips the other week I ordered a small chips this time I ordered large but I got e exactly the same amount I used to be able to feed me and my two kids on a large portion of chips but now not even close

Never ordered here before but read the reviews so thought I’d give it a go and I was not disappointed! Delivery time said between 18.20-18.40 was here pretty much bang on 18.20 baring in mind I ordered at 17.50! Ordered large cod and chips,only do that if you haven’t eaten in a week coz the portion sizes are mega! The curry sauce and mushy peas..top notch! This will be officially my go to place from now on! Beautiful!…ohh and very polite delivery driver!

Really lovely food, but forgot a portion of my chips. I called back they said they'd bring within 10 minutes, over 30 minutes later I still never received them, so I rang restaurant which was a waste of time as the person over the phone couldn't understand s word I was saying and came across very abrupt and rude.

Forgot half the order and when called to complain got hung up on

Walked in asked for pie and chips was asked to see if chips are ok had one to taste. Very hot and not greasy. Got home portion of chips was more than enough for 2 let alone one. Everything was hot and he even tested the temperature of the pie make sure it was how it should be. Great service and definitely be going back.

First time trying from here. We had it delivered, arrived well packaged and yummy especially the chips perfect and the battered cod was yummy just a touch over cooked on the batter that's why I've gave a 4 star rating but overall the main question here is... Would I eat from here again... Yes definitely and recommend you try it the curry sauce was very nice too and arrived nice and warm and in good time 👌🏼 truly enjoyed it thanks

Genuinely, the chips tonight were absolutely amazing - best chips I’ve had in a long time. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Absolutely superb job whoever’s in the kitchen tonight! Would highly recommend.

Pretty standard chippy foods solid. Your going to get exactly the kind of food you expect, good food. Service is always good.

Amazing fish and chips in Thetford Huge portions, always fresh

Went in for food this evening. First time. First thing I noticed was how clean this place is. I received a warm welcome from friendly staff. Who then provided me with speedy service. 4 of us ate and can truly say the fish was not only huge is was divine! A light crispy batter and large white flakes of cod. Everything else was lovely. Travelled quite away home and was still warm. A* Highly recommend

I ordered 3 times from these guys, and all 3 times it was a successful experience. Delicious fish, tasty burgers, excellent sausages, good chips. The only thing I didn’t like about the chips was the many tiny pieces of potato (which accumulate mainly at the bottom). But anyway 5 stars. Good luck:)

Visited Mr chips a few days ago and we were treated very kindly. The food was cooked to order and tasted good. Very clean inside and the staff Friendly and polite . Would recommend a visit

Staying close by and came in this evening to feed a hungry family of 5 adults. Excellent portion sizes, lovely food, and great service. Certainly a "plaice" we'd visit again!

Needed to add this update.I rang the shop and spoke to a young lady thats how i know about the son using his batter and not his fathers. The young girl rang back and apologised but said she couldn't do anything about the issue as she only works there. Been taken over fish is flat had the son run it used batter from his shop not his dads it was horrid.The fish was dark, batter inside was all slimey/doughy.chips woody tasting and sausage was a grey colour.Was worried 4 my grandson eating the sausage so through it away all horrible and expensive 😒😭 And £20+ wasted Never go there again.Phoned to air my disappointment no offer of replacement but wouldn't do it if sons cooking. The Croxten fish shop or Admirals chip shop is so much better.

Food was ok but the guy who took my order and cooked it would not let the two girls working there do anything they had to wait until he said serve these people this they even had to ask if they could take a specific bit of fish. If he would let them do their jobs the place would probably run much smoother I'm not going back there because of this discrimination of work

We tried this chip shop over a year ago when we first moved to Thetford, wasn't impressed so didn't go again. Then we saw that it was under new management so we tried again, still not impressed. The chips were ok and a big enough portion, the cod was awful, really greasy, very thin and not very tasty. At £11.70 most definitely not worth the money, will not be going anymore.

Having had previous poor experience we visited today to try out the new owners special offer. Fast and very friendly service, we had cod and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce. The cod was moist and tasty in a crispy light batter, chips were perfect and we were even offered some scraps as our food was being packed. Hopefully the new owners can keep up the great service, great value with half-price offer otherwise it is not particularly cheap.

Really enjoyed our cod and chips . Good portion size fish was lovely and batter was delightful, also decent size chips. Food was fresh cooked so lovely and hot, to top it off food was served in a good takeaway box.

Very rude if I wasn't so hungry would have given food back. Will never go back
