Food is always delicious, the young lads taking orders kept getting them wrong and spend more time chatting amongst themselves. Service is very slow

Mattishall fish bar is a good place to get food from. The food takes around 8 minutes to cook. Only complaint is they sometimes forget to put in fish cakes and charge you for them.

This fish and chip shop is beyond description (well the food is anyway) the food is cooked to perfection every time, and now they take debit cards, perfect!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Fish and chips fairly good but didn't do gravy. Yes you read that correctly- don't do gravy. They have mushy peas but no gravy.

Have used them maybe 10 times in the last year. Sometimes the grandparents have gone and ordered it. Twice by phone to collect. And today I went in in person and ordered over the counter. The reason for this is that they have got the order wrong on each and every occasion. And is suspected it may have been old people errors. But it Includes today. They read the order to you when you collect and still it's wrong( not what they say but the order when you get it home) I can't understand how this happens every single time. I also believe I paid today for what I didn't get, which I think is the first time that's happened. But I can't check because The prices on the website are not accurate either, as when I work out how much cash I need it's always different to what I pay. The food is good. Its a real shame.

Only takes cash, only one reason for that is tax dodging it takes nothing to get a card reader.

Personally, this is one of my favourite fish and chip shops in Norfolk. I am lucky to have this on my doorstep, but this shop has some amazing tasting fish and chips all for a great price. The service is always good and fast and the staff are friendly. Only problem for me is they only take cash and parking can sometimes be quite difficult. However, I highly recommend!

I went there today asked for salt and vinegar on one he didn't no which one so he unwrapped it and started snofing it I thought it was covid times couldn't eat our chips after that very expensive wouldn't recommend

Enjoyed a lovely piece of large plaice, nice crispy batter. Chips were perfect. Curry sauce as you'd expect, but a good size tub. Thought I'd try a battered sausage too, as it was my first time back here since it changed hands - it had that classic chip shop taste, piping hot and, again, no soggy batter. Immediately elevated to my favourite fish and chip shop in and around Dereham, and I've tried them all.

My wife and myself go here when we have visited our family here in Mattishall and the fish and chips are delicious

used twice now for a quick tea and had a couple of minutes wait each time but these visits have both been at busy times and the chips are worth it

a large cod and medium chips enough for 2, unless you`ve a massive appetite. fish a little dry, but ok and chips good. speedy service also.

Quick service, reasonable price and great food

We never used to use this chippy as the old owners fried everything together which meant nothing was edible for me as I can't eat gluten, the new owners however keep the chips totally separate from everything else both in cooking and being kept hot so I am finally able to enjoy our local chippy (even if only for chips!) The rest of my family have pretty much sampled most of the menu and have never had a complaint about any of the food, plates are always clean at the end of dinner, and there are many requests in our house for a cheeky fish & chip dinner!

Live locally, so thought would try here again as under new management recently. Very pleased with the small whale portion of cod, and the chips were beautiful. Scampi and battered sausage were cooked to perfection. Just over 10 quid for that lot! Bargain.

Under new management, so much better now than it was previously! We had a selection of fish, sausage, fish cake, chips and peas...all really good. All freshly cooked and portion sizes are generous. Fantastic to have a local decent chippy.

Recently taken over by new people ,this is possibly THE best chippy ever! Friendly service, super sized portions and lovely fresh taste..Great value. i have eaten in chippy's all over the Country and this ranks in the top 3 if not the best.. Well worth a visit. from outside it is unassuming and plain Do not let that put you off. The place is a wonderful find..

We decided to try the take away fish and chips since this is now under new ownership. The fish was lovely and fresh, not greasy and beautifully fried. Very generous with the chips, would recommend.

The new owners of the Express fish bar have made a good start with their fish and chips. Good size portions and excellent quality. Phone orders welcome which helps to speed up service when busy.

New owners and just a fish and chip shop (pies etc but not pizzas etc) that does excellent fish and chips if my two visits thus far are anything to go by. Fresh, crispy fish and lovely chips not at all greasy - great. A large portion of chips does 3 nicely.

Popped in for a fish & chips lunch. Our order was fried quickly and fresh so I had high hopes for a tasty lunch. Conversation was very monosyllabic. Unfortunately the fish was not drained properly and was very. very greasy. The batter had stuck to the paper by the time I got home, 5mins later. The chips were soggy, crispy. Shame.

Friendly service, good choice on the menu and excellent portions of chips (one portion will fill up a whole dinner plate easily!), very good value for money :)
